Im about to buy a Macbook with Quicktime pro. But i'm still not sure if I will be able to put most of my dvds onto my ipod. So can anyone here tell me if it will be possible to download my dvds to my mac with h.264 and then to my ipod using quicktime. So if someone knows than will they also tell me step by step instructions on how i will be able to do so. Thanks.

If you search the iPod 5Gg forums (e.g. vs. here) there is a lot of info on DVD to iPOd conversion. QT does not export audio from muxed sources, DVD being muxed MPEG-2 audio.
Some people swear by handbrake others at it.
You will get better quality and 640X480 using Mac the Ripper to rip the main feature then using iSquint at the TV mode setting or MPEG Streamclip at the iPod setting to transcode to H264.

2 then go to reauthor at the top of the window and go to the dvd drive and then double click the main movie it should move to the other column then click back up at the top of the window pick the spot to back up to
3 after backing up go to the folder then go to the VOB file and the easiest way to do it is to put t on your desktop
4 open the convertor and go to convert then go to transcode video then use browser to find the video
5 rename the video and add it to i tunes done

The sole purpose of getting my new iPod (I previously had a mini) was to watch movies for this summers long plane rides. Lo and behold, i'm have many difficulties putting the movie onto my 60GB white iPod. Any way/tips that can help me?

There is at least one way on each operating system (windows and mac) to rip your own dvds and then transfer them to itunes and finally put them on your ipod. A mac is the easiest of the two ways. If you have a mac, then you download a program off of the web called handbrake (just "google" >handbrake rip dvds< and its homepage should pop up. Handbrake allows you to copy and convert your dvds to ipod format. On a windows operating system the most effective way i have found to rip my dvds is quicktime pro ($25-$35). It basically does the same thing as handbrake. I, myself, have simply converted some videos, like sports shows and commercials, to ipod format using itunes and both the video and audio worked fine.

I'm guessing that you are referring to movies? If these are commercial DVDs, then they are copy protected and you would not be able to download them. Anything you want to put on the iPad has to be downloaded to iTunes. Copyrighted DVDs cannot be ripped and entered into iTunes. Many of the newer DVD or BluRay movies also come with digital downloads that can be added to iTunes. Those could be added to the iPad.
