How to re-install an app that was purchased

I purchased an app through the iPod touch store. How can I re-install the app. I had to remove it because the data would take up all my space on the iPod touch. I just won't download everything, but since I removed it, I don't want to have to purchase it again. On the computer, it shows no apps under the Apps category (on the left).

You can just download it from the app store. As long as you're using the iTunes account you initially used to purchase the app then you shouldn't have any problems. See the following article

Delete an App Store app: Touch and hold its icon on the Home screen until the icon starts to jiggle, then tap the "x" . You can’t delete built-in apps. When you finish, press the Home button.
Deleting an app also deletes all of its data. You can re-download any app you’ve purchased from the App Store, free of charge

    For more clarification;
I purchased my friend ipad with some applications that already downloaded before. I could use those apps & games easily but when i need to update any, i couldn't because i have to have an App account.
I created a new app account, now i can purchase & download any app but i can't update an old App that was purchased through my friend account.
Please take into your concederation that i don't want to delete the App & redownload it as i don't want to miss my data registed before.
    Please advice

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can't transfer purchases from one account to the other. Your friend had no right selling you the iPod with purchases on it made from his account.

  • When I try to activate an app that was purchased on my IPad it goes to that app's screen that immidately goes back to the Home screen

When I try to activate an app that was purchased on my IPad it goes to that app's screen that immidately goes back to the Home screen. What can I do to fix it?

These are the general things that you can try to get your apps to work again. But the first thing you can try is to download any free app - that seems to reset something. See if your apps will work after that.  If not try these things listed.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Close all apps. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If none of these things work, you may have to delete the app and install it again. To delete the app, tap and hold down on the app icon until it wiggles. Then tap the X that appears on the icon to delete it. Restart your iPad as described above and download the app again.

I am trying to buy help on my candy crush game but I keep getting this pop-up? Unable to Purchase. This item for an app that was purchased by a different Apple ID. To buy this item with this Apple ID, you must first purchase the app. My daughter set up this game on my Iphone. I am on level 65 and don't wont to start over if I don't have to.
    Any suggestions?

If it was indeed purchased with a different apple ID then there is no work around for what you want! You can try signing in with your daughter's apple ID and password and update the app and purchase whatever you want then log back in with your apple ID. This may work!

  • HT1420 When trying to buy gems (I have $50 credit) in "Clash of Clans" game I get: "Unable to Purchase.  This item is for an app that was purchased by a different Apple ID.  To buy this item with this Apple ID first purchase the app?  Which app?

When trying to buy gems on the "Clash of Clans" game I get the following:
"Unable to Purchase.  This item is for an app that was purchased by a different Apple ID.  To buy this item with this Apple ID, you must first purchase the App."
I redeemed the itunes voucher on the same Apple ID I want to buy the gems with?
What do I do from here.

You will only be able to buy items in an app if you are signed into and use the same account that you originally bought that app with - is that the account that you are signed into ?

  • How do you get a refund for an app that was purchased through the new App Catalog for a WebOS app!

    Hi,
I just purchased a Dictionary app from Palm's App Catalog, the product is listed as: English Dictionary and Thesarus by Ultralingua, Inc. and it was not something that was advertised correctly and hence is not something that I want.
It costs a whopping $9.99 and if it was as advertised, it would have been worth the money but it is not.
I've had Dictionaries on my Palm Devices so when I saw the first directory for the WebOs for use on Pre, I immediately got it.
However, unlike my old Palm dictionaries, this dictionary requires you to have a network connection.  Something that is not useful for me.  I sometimes like to look up word while on the subway to work (I live in NYC) where this is no network connection.
There was nothing in the description that said it 'required' a network connection, and considering that all of the dictionaries I have gotten in the past did not require a network connection, I assumed (since it didn't state anything) that I could use it off-line.
Heck, since you are required to use this dictionary online, I might as well use google to lookup a word and that is free!
So I believe I was tricked into getting this app, and I want a refund!
And there doesn't seem to be a way to get a refund for an app that did not disclose it's requirements before I made my purchase.
Thanks for you help in finding out how to get a refund when its needed!

Palm does have the ability to remove apps remotely, that was added in the last update.
I knew that would be Palm's response, but I earn you now, Palm better make sure they put a better description on these apps.  And in this case its Palm's fault for not disclosing that this app required network support in order to work.
They should at least make that part of a feature description.
This is the second app that I purchased that was not advertised correctly.  So I far I have spent good money on crap only because the descriptions did not contain the right info.
I see the only solution is to make all apps have at least a one hour free trail, or whatever free trial you want.
I and I'm sure I'm not alone can't keep purchasing stuff that either doesn't work as advertised or is misleading in the description.
I mean really Palm, you approved a dictionary app that just does a google in the background and displays the definition.
I can do that same thing by typing it on my Pre and hitting Google?
I still feel cheated and ripped off.
I signed up for Palm and WebOS because I wanted to give you a second chance but that love only goes so far.  I think Andriod will be in my life soon.  I can't stand by and let myself be taken advantage of.
I just can't believe how angry and upset I AM over this.

  • ITunes not showing devices, how do I transfer an app that I purchased to my phone?

I just downloaded the 64bit iTunes for Windows 7.  And I've just purchased an app that I want to run on my android phone.  The tab "Devices" is not showing up and is missing and therefore iTunes does not recognize the phone.  How do I get the app from iTunes to my phone?  Also, how would I get any music to my phone if the its not recognized.

I am having a similar problem. laptop crashed and we needed a new harddrive. Reinstalled itunes, downloaded "purchased apps" in itunes, then found I needed to "transfer purchases" and have done so and then backed up ipad in itunes.
However, I still have apps that I purchased that wouldn't download in ipad and said would be available on computer in itunes.  I see them there, but all app boxes are greyed out and I cannot select those boxes.  If I somehow got it un-greyed, where I could check those boxes and uncheck the others, it wouldn't just add those, right - it'd delete the others?
Also, if I hit "sync apps" then it says it will erase ipad and apply the library, so I'll lose all info in apps.  In theory, I could (I'm guessing - tell me if I'm wrong and can't do this) tell it to go to the "back up" and sync, right?  But, It literally took 24 hours to "back up ipad", and I dont' want to have another whole day to restore to back up.  And, oh yeah, those apps aren't on the back up copy, so I'd not get anywhere but frustrated.
How can I get these apps on without losing my data?

  • How can I save the apps that I purchased from the App Store?

Does anyone know if you can somehow save apps that you purchased so you don't have to buy it again?

You should always sync them to your computer:  File>Transfer Purchases and you should alwys maintain a backup copy of your computer.
You can redownload any apps for free that are still available in itunes:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • How do i remove an app that was downloaded under my apple id but was not from an authorized device or me?

someone and i dont know who got my apple id and downloaded stuff. how do i remove the apps they downloaded?

Thanks. I couldn't get the control-click to work, but I found that if I opened a folder and picked "Customize Tool Bar" from "View" in the Finder, I was able to drag the question mark out of the toolbar and onto the desktop where it "poofed' and disappeared. Doing this removed the question mark from the toolbar in all my folders.

  • How do I delete an app that was initiated by a previous owner?

Just went into the app store to see if there were any apps to be downloaded or updated.
I found one for updating that was apparently initiated by a previous owner/user. I don't particularly want the app, so is it possible to delete it from the app list?

That list is your Purchase history. The App is no longer on your Phone. Purchased History cannot be deleted, because it registers your previous purchases so you can download them again if you need to without paying again for them. It tells you and Apple what applications you have purchased (i.e you own ) So you can have access to them for download when you need to.
The best you can do is hide the purchase.

  • Can't see app that was purchased on my ipad 2

I purchased a free app and I can't see it on my ipad 2.  I have synced it and have also removed it and then reinstalled it from my PC.  During re-installation, I see it loading.  After it is done installing, it vanishes.  Can anyone help with this problem?
I was thinking about restoring the ipad to factory settings but am afaird on losing data from other apps since my son has sevral games apps which he is playing and have gone a long way.  If I back it up and restore, will the data from the games be lost?

  • TS1702 How do I update an application that was purchased under a different (old) iTunes store ID?

A few apps I first purchased on my iPhone were under an old store ID.  I updated/changed my ID and my old one won't work any more but when I try to update some of the apps I first installed on my phone the phone asks for the password for my old ID.  No matter what I put for a password it won't let me update.  If I try to change the password it changes it for my NEW ID.  Other than repurchasing the app how do I get my phone to accept the update?  I have already tried deleting the app and reinstalling it from my iTunes backup but it doesn't help.

    Apps can only be updates with the APple ID with which they were purchased. Apple will not transfer from one ID to anther, not merge IDs. You can recover the old ID using this link;

  • How do I get my music that was purchased on my Iphone, back after I got the new update?

I recently got the new update for my 3GS Iphone, and I had purchased some music on the Itunes on my phone. So I synced my phone right before the update, and backed it up. I did the update, and now I have nothing. The music that I purchased on my Iphone hadn't been put on my Macbook (I made a mistake there), and now its NO WHERE to be found. Help please???

If for some reason you failed to transfer purchases to your computer before updating, then you can redownload in some countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
