How to read magnetic stripe cards

hello everybody,
I have asked about magnetic stripe cards regularly. can any one tell me whether the data reading can be done from simple array copy function or we need anything else.
does the card listener works for the magnetic stripe in same way .
and do we have any simulator to test our program

I'm looking into how to read information from a
Magnetic Stripe Cards and not a Smart Card. My
question is, does Java Card API support this or is it
only Smart Cards ??You need a Strip Card Reader and Software, Nothing to do with Java Card, Which is for Smart Cards. Smart Cards are much safer than Magnetic Strips.

Once you get the bytes in the tracks, you can manipulate through java code.

There is a difference between java card programming and magnetic strip card programming ?
If i want to make a loyalty card which one i should prefer and why ?
I read about magnetic strip cards theoretically and their disadvantages as well but programmatically which one is better ?

is there any difference between java magnetic strip card programming and java chip card programming ???
Please i also want to know the applet loading mechanisim on strip card and its capabilities as compared to java chip card.

My previous post regarding a MAC is a moot point as you can clone a magstripe anyway. You need to be aware of what the information on the magstripe gives you access to. In a loyalty card this is just the account number for accumulating points. In an ATM card this gives you access to a bank account. In this case the account number is used with the PIN to give access (a weak form of 2-factor authentication). A magstripe card would not store the key as this defeats the purpose. Everything on the magstripe is available to anyone with a reader.
With a PIN, store the salted hash of the PIN (SHA2 family, not MD5 : ) and then compare hashes in your database to those entered for authentication. You would need a PIN or password to access the loyalty account.

If you mean having a combo of mag stripe and cpu/memory on a card, which support javacard tech, then yes.
If you mean having a mag stripe only card which supports javacard, then no, it does not support javacard technology. Correct me if I am wrong but a mag stripe only holds a couple of bytes of datd doesn't it? Regardless no way enough for jcre, applets etc.

I'm currently trying to read data from an 4 GB SD card - but it isn't displayed in the explorer.
Is there any way to access the card (except via USB-cable - I only have the card here,not the camera).

To be clear, "Eye-Fi" is a brand name, and there are multiple products that can add WiFi to the A58, those from Eye-Fi are just a few. The manufacturers of those cards will be able to tell you whether their products are compatible with the A58 better than Sony can, but Sony certainly hasn't intentionally done anything that would allow some WiFi cards to work but prevent others from working. Second, I would guess that Sony would prefer that you bought one of their cameras that had WiFi already, but the A58 has an option that appears on the Setup 2 menu that has the camera use an optional third-party WiFi card to upload photos and videos, so it certainly doesn't discourage their use.

I'm trying to make a simple VI that meassures and displays a PCs frame rate. I am doing this as an enticement to my grandson who is a gamer.
I want to show him the power and ease of LabView. I am a novice and have just completed LV core 1 &2.
I assume that I need to grab a parameter from my pc etc.

In addition to Nathan's answer you will find that the framerate in most modern games is constantly changing depending on how hard the graphics engine is working at any given moment. Inside a cave with minimal objects you may have 100FPS, step outside and start rendering to the virtual horizon while simulating a rainstorm and Poof!, you're down to 25FPS.
You will have to query the game engine to get the current rate. There's usually an option to display the FPS in most games. I'm not sure how an external program would query that value while the game is playing.

One of our clients has got a requirement to read data from the magnetic strip of debit card/credit card.
We need to display the card information on Oracle Application Payment screen once card is swiped.

Oracle is not any kind of magic!
As per your client request you need an application which can read the magnetic tape and encode the no, which in turn can retrieve the data from your database!
As of now no application is in Oracle at least for this! Try some customize application to have the same.

Sun Ray - How to get external USB Card Reader working

i have the following problem. Maybe someone could help me or give me a clue to solve it.
SunRay Software 5 installed
Window 2003 R2 TerminalServer
Here my question:
I use a kiosk session with a smart card to conncet to the windows server - works perfect.
Login Screen and go.
Now i have to have to authenticate myself with an external usb card reader and smart
card (connected to the sun ray) to use a certain application on my win2003 server.
Via the windows rdp session (from the laptops) everthing is ok. The information from
the card reader is transferred to the server.
If i use the Sun Ray nothing happens. So here is my problem:
How do get the authentication information from the smart card to the server?

Basically, reinstall the Boot Camp video drivers manually and if that doesn't work then go to the AMD/Radeon website and install the Windows drivers directly for your video card model.
If you want to do a search you will find others that have pretty good luck doing it either way.

Am not quite sure what you mean by 'activate' a card reader. Do you mean that the OS will not detect your card reader when you plug it in, or insert a memory card in it?

You need to establish a secure channel between reader/card using Global Platform.
Look at the Global Platform Specifications on how to Authenticate to the card using ExAuth. That is the command to establish the secure channel. If you have developer cards, everyone ( except Gemplus ) uses keyset 0xff , 40 41 42...4f.
