I have taken many photos over the last few days on my Iphone 5s. However, i deleted these photos off photostream as i needed the space on my icloud for my apps. When i went onto my camera roll around 12 hours later, all my recent photos had dissapeared (including the photos taken earlier that morning). Does anyone know any way of recovering these photos???

Sorry, your photos are gone. You should have imported/saved them to your computer before you deleted them from Photo Stream.

You can if you are using iCloud. There is a clever software which Apple have installed into the iPhone called photo stream and you can use that to recover any deleted photos. To do this, go onto Settings > iCloud > Photos On. This will switch on photo stream which will keep every single photo that you have in your camera roll, even if you have deleted it or not.
Another method is syncing it to your iTunes and then backing it up. If you back up your photos, there is a chance of getting back any deleted photos. But if any of these methods do not have an effect, then unfortunately, you have lost your photos. If they are really important, contact Apple.

the last back up noted on my phone is 9 nov 2013 - i deleted the photos just on monday - does this mean i can still recover them somehow?
they were never imported to a comp but yes the pics were saved on my photo stream buti acutally first deleted off photo stream. what i did was create a folder within my albums then added the 60 photos to the album, then deleted 1 off photo stream to test and it didnt delete from my new folder, then deleted all off photo stream and then i thought i could delete off camera roll, then did that and realised it also deleted off my new folder created - so was left with nothing!

The only way photos are stored in icloud is in a backup from an ios device. This assumes that icloud backup was turned on and that camera roll was turned on. Note that photo stream is a slightly different service that is used to sync photos from one device to another, it's not really a storage service.
To retrieve photos that are in a backup, you need to reset a device (wipe all data from it) and perform a restore. Note that many users have had problems getting their photos back from a backup - for one reason or another. Remember, the suggested way of storing photos is to sync them to a computer or service like Dropbox.

Eric, thanks for the info about the pictures, it worked. The mail icon is not the one that came with the mac(it looks like a stamp with an eagle) this appears at a notepad with a ruler,paintbrush and pencil. I can not open it, I did not download it and now I can not turn off the computer with shutdown I have to manually turn if off by pressing the power button. This can not be normal. The devices are not designed for transfer of that kind. Use Photo Stream as suggested by another poster, or transfer photos to your computer (a good idea anyway since they will be lost if your device needs to be reset), then use iTunes to sync them to the other devices.

Hi....I have 1400 odd photos on my iPhone 4 and am running out of memory so I bought extra storage (25GB) on iCloud which I have set up to use. However I'm not familiar with how iCloud works and I don't synch my iPhone with a computer but I want the comfort of knowing that when I transfer the photos to iCloud they are there and need to know how to access them again if/when I want to.
I have looked at the Photos & Camera section in General Settings but really have no idea what Camera Roll, Photo Library or Photo Stream refer to. I take photos as and when the mood strikes me, don't share them with anyone and only want to retain them for future reference as and when I feel like it.
Which leads me to my queries:
1. How do I transfer the photos to iCloud?
2. Can I open folders to seperate different batches of photos in iCloud?

iCloud is not designed to "store" photos (as in long term storage). iCloud can be used to sync photos from one device to another (photo stream) and to store a backup of the camera roll. But that's pretty much it.
Camera roll is the group of all photos taken by the device (but not other photos synced to the device from another source). Your extra storage on icloud will do you no good. The recommended way of storing photos on a device is to sync them to a computer.
So, your questions..

3) On a computer, deleting large groups of photos is relatively painless. not so on a device.
4) You can't access photos on iCloud because they can't be store in icloud. You can't view/access photos in a backup on icloud unless you restore a backup to a device.

Pics taken with the iphone are imported to your computer as with any other digital camera ( as explained in the manual).
