Run software update from the AppStore. You need to update iPhoto to version 9.5.1. Launch the App Store and sign in with your AppleID from the "Store" menu. The update from 9.2.1 to 9.5.1 isa free update.
iPhoto needs to be installed in the Applications folder for the AppStore to see it.

I believe you will find you can again sync Photos if you delete the "iPod Photo Cache", but predict that any subsequent attempt will fail.  In my case, the enxt sync removes all the photos again - I've seen other reports of error messages upon sync.  Mine just fails silently. :-)

You might be able to recover any photos that were in an iCloud Photo Stream if you had an iCloud account and used Photo Stream.  But without a backup of your library or MB hard drive you won't be able to recover any of the iPhoto Library photos as Jim has already pointed out.

What do you mean 'how to recover' ? If you want to copy the photos from the USB drive to your iPad then you can try using the camera connection kit, but a lot of USB drives require more power than is supplied to the kit and the photos need to be in a particular format : you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the drive with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them

    Hello vikings2013
You can recover photos from iTunes or iCloud as long as you had a backup. The article below will give instructions on backup and restore through both options of computer and iCloud.

I'm sorry to hear you no longer have access to your pictures ItzKB11. I know they're important, we'll do everything we can to help. However, since you did not back them up to any source and the screen does not work, we only have a couple options. Try using the USB cable to tranfer to PC:
From the Device to a Computer
      • Launch Windows Explorer.
Using the computer keyboard, press Windows E (  E) keys.
Alternatively, right-click Start then click Explore.
      • Using Windows Explorer, navigate to:
      • SCH-I545 > Phone
      • Utilize the computer to copy video/picture files from the following folders into the desired folder(s) on the computer's hard drive:
      • DCIM
      • Download
      • Movies
      • Pictures
      • Disconnect the USB cable from the computer.
If you're unable to retrieve them that way, use this http://vz.to/1zyIQwo.

  • How to import photos from multiple iphoto libraries to iPad

How do I import photos from multiple iPhoto libraries from my iMac to the new iPad? I have 4 different iPhoto Libraries on my iMac.
I can import photos from  iPhoto library 1,  to the iPad, but when I import photos from iPhoto Library 2, created on my iMac to the iPad,
it deletes the original photos that I imported from the first iPhoto Library and replaces them with the import from library 2.
I only want to import selected photos from each library to my iPad. Can someone plese help me?

As Ralph has suggested, if you want to sync photos from your computer, you must include all photos that you want to sync - with each and every sync. You cannot import photos from another Main photo folder on the computer. You must create an all-in-one photo library in iPhoto and sync from that folder. You can select one level of sub folders from within that main folder, but all of those folders must be included in the main folder - in your case it is in iPhoto. That is just how the sync process works with Photos.
I don't know how using third party apps affects the photos that you have already synced from iPhoto, but take a look at these apps in this Google search. Maybe Wifi transfer is the way to go for you.

  • How do i recover photos from my iPhoto library using my time capsule?

I have a shared time capsule between my iMac and Macbook pro.  Now that my Macbook pro's hardrive was replaced I lost all my pictures at iphoto.  I am trying to locate them from my Time capsule. Help.

Don't confuse "Time Capsule", an Apple Wi-Fi base station, with "Time Machine", backup software included with OS X since version 10.5.
What you want to do is to recover files from Time Machine backups on your Time Capsule.  Start by mounting the mounting the disk drive in the Time Capsule, probably still called "Data".  Look in the "Data" volume for a "sparsebundle" named after the MacBook Pro.  Mount that.  Then click-and-hold on the Time Machine icon in the Dock and select "Browse Other Time Machine Disks".  Select the old backup, then navigate to the iPhoto backup.

  • N86 8MP : How to recover Photos from corrupted E: ...

    Hi,
I'm using a N86 8MP which is less than 5 months old. Recently, I have lost all my music files and all the crucial photo images which I have taken between Jan till now and I have not done a backup yet. Somehow this occurs after I have switched the Singapore SIM Card to a China Prepaid Card. Could it be the cause of data losses? Also, not sure if the missing data has anything to do with the corrupted E:Mass Memory which I have just discovered.. Any ideas/advise?
And, may I know, how can I recover all the Photos from the corrupted E:Mass Memory?
    Please help. Thanks!

I met this kind of problem before with the corrupted SD card on my Samsung phone but it came out I got nothing from the card as the corrupted card can not be recognised by the computer when connected. So I hope you are lucky. (your card can be detected,)
First, take the card from the phone (powered off) and if it has a "write protect" tab then lock it now. Do not try and write anything to the card or you risk causing more problems. You can either plug in you camera to the PC as it should appear as a “Removable Drive” or put the card in a card reader attached to your PC.
Next, if you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a photo recovery utility that will recover your photos from the following link:
    http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Download (Windows, freeware)
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/photorecovery.html (for Mac OS X shareware)
If such free utilities fail to help, you may rely on some paid photo recovery software. If you search the web for photo recovery software you will find many. One I have tried successfully is Wondershare Photo Recovery 2.1 that used to be bundled with some other products. This program can also recover music and videos. Now you can get it from the link below:
    http://www.wondershare.com/pro/photo-recovery.html
You can try the demo to see what you can recover before buying.
Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to the card until you can recover your pictures and music to your PC safely! Merry Christmas

  • How to recover photos from a reformatted CF card.

I accidentally reformatted my 1gb Lexar CF card while still in my camera with some photos I want to recover. I used Lexars Image Rescue program. It said it recovered 200 photos but I can't locate them. The image folder that it says they're in, is empty. I used both a high level search and then a low level search.
I created a smart folder and selected >computer >kind>image>created>within the last week. It found the photos form my iPhoto Library that I expected, but none of the 200 "recovered" photos. Any advice?

4th times the charm. I choose a new destination folder and this time they're showing up.

  • Missing Photos from my Iphoto library, Please Help!

#1 Woke up yesterday and noticed there are many pictures missing from my Iphoto library.
#2 The folders are still there but there are NO picture in some of them EVEN though my total picture count remains the same. About 25k pics.
#3 I do a google and some forums suggest "rebuilding" the photo album THROUGH my Iphoto Photo Library.
#4 I go ahead and start the rebuilding process which seems conceivably at the rate its going, it might take maybe a full day or more!!
#5 My laptop FREEZES for some mucked up reason at about 5500 photos rebuilt so far. I am forced to force quit Iphoto and RESTART the whole process.
#6 Now during the "rebuild" process. The process stops at and ONLY recognizes up to the 5500 photos.
#7 Now my library ONLY says 5500 photos instead of the 25k
#8 All of my photo FOLDERS still remain.
#9 A little tidbit, I don't know why but my external 2tb hd is somehow connected to my Iphoto, where if my EX HD is not connected I will be missing many photos from my mac laptop Iphoto Library while disconnected.
#10 2 things, I have not backed up my library since Dec 2010, BUT i also have added very little photo since then.
PLEASE HELP ME KIND MAC PEOPLE, What can I do? Where have all my photos in my library gone? Why will it only rebuild now only to 5500 photos. Please shoot my some ideas and help if you can. Thank you very much for your kind advice and help! Humbly "Devastated" for these photos are work and family irreplacable :[

It is unlikely that your problem is a corruped preference file - the correction for that is
A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.
It is likely that you have a corrupted library - and backups are NOT just to protect against hardware failures
Note - things fail - software - computers - people - and if you do NOT always have a current backup you will lose all of your photos and other data sooner or later
And the managed library has NOTHING to do with the library you have selected - it has to do with iPhoto preferences you have selected -
Were the "missing" photos only missing when the EHD was no tavailable as you implied?
and do you have a default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) or a referenced library - if htat option checked or unchecked?

  • MacBook dead - How to recover photos from iPhone to my new computer?

My MacBook Air died (and took all my old photos and music with it).  I just got the new MacBook.
My iPhone (from old sync's) has photos/albums and music from the old computer, but only some of the photos sync to the new iTunes library on the new computer.
How do I recover the remaining photos (especially albums) to my new computer from my iPhone?

All right! Do you know there is someone that has accidentally deleted your photos?
If not, you phone may get some problems, specially the inner memory card.
So, in order to get back all these lost photos, you'd better pick the inner memory card out immediately in case anything else on it may erase your needed photos.
And then connect this card t your computer and download a data recovery application for restoring all your photos back.
Here is a iphone data recovery software for you: http://software.bigbigsoft.com/iphone-recovery-mac
After this incident, I hope you would learn a lesson to make everything important backed up in the future.

  • How to recover mail from deleted account?

Had some problems receiving mail from an account and the service provider suggested I recreate it and try again... In doing so I deleted the old account and have lost all of the messages in the old inbox and sent mail box. I cannot find anywhere where these might have been put and expect that they have disappeared but does anyone have any tips for finding and restoring them?
    G5 Mac   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Mail 2.1

It all depends on the type of account and how it was configured. For IMAP-type accounts, mail is stored on the server, and setting up the account again is all that’s needed to regain access to your mail.
If you deleted a POP account, however, then all your mail stored locally in that account’s mailboxes has certainly been wiped out, not just moved somewhere, and you were warned that this would happen by the following alert:
    Remove Account
Are you sure you want to remove the <AccountType> account "<AccountName>"?
This will permanently delete the account setup information, mailboxes, and messages from your computer. Messages stored on the mail server will not be affected.
If the POP account was configured to leave mail on the server for some time instead of removing it right away when downloaded, incoming mail that’s still on the server can be re-downloaded by setting up the account again, just like for IMAP accounts, but keep in mind that this would only work for received (i.e. not sent) mail that has not yet been removed from the server.
If the messages are not on the server, and you don’t have a backup, your only option in the case of Mail 2.x is to try to salvage as many deleted *.emlx files as possible with a data recovery tool such as Data Rescue II, TechTool Pro, or FileSalvage (the files to be recovered would be different in the case of Mail 1.x). Of these, the only one I know for sure that can recover deleted *.emlx files is FileSalvage. Stop using your computer right now if you want to try that, as anything you do with the computer may cause the deleted files to be overwritten.

  • How to recover photos from iPhone (from a different account)?

Now, I am wondering if it is possible to recover pictures that were deleted? I know, it is a definite YES. But the trick here is -
When I first got my iPhone 5S, I used Account A. After a few months, I created another account (Account B) and transferred all my purchases to the newer account - but I still have the same phone. So is it still possible to recover pictures off my phone - irrespective of whatever account I used?
    Any comment is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Vaishu.

Have you accidentally deleted them from your iPhone 5s? I did the same thing a couple weeks a go. Here is the solution I found:
If you have back up your text messages, you can restore from the backup.
Look at this tutorial from Apple:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
If you have no backup for your data on iPhone, you cannot recover your lost photos of iPhone easily,  iPhone data recovery software is your last shot! I used iPhone Data Recovery and it worked well. Give it a shot!
