  • When I ask Siri to play a song it goes to the song but won't play the song

when I ask Siri to play a song it goes to the song but won't play the song.  The song shows when I open the music app, but the bar does not move and there is no sound.  Even if I hit pause then play nothing happens.  If I go back to the playlists and select another playlist or song then music plays.

After doing and changing EVERYTHING on that page, I ended up re-installing Quicktime by itself and finally that solved the problem. Thank you for the advice page though, it had a lot of good information on it that related to my problem.

  • TS1967 I have just bought a new computer and downloaded latest version of itunes.  It has all installed fine, but when I sync my ipod, it shows all the songs but won't play any of the songs in that library.  Also, I can't add new files.

I have just bought a new computer and downloaded the latest version of itunes.  It has all installed fine, but when I plug my ipod and sync it, the music library shows all the songs and videos that are on there, but won't let me play them.  Also, I can't add any new songs to the same library.  It saves them elsewhere. I have had the previous version on another computer and it worked just fine.  I have been online trying to find an answer but nothing.  Hope someone can help me. Thanks

Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.
Copy the media from the old computer to the new computer.

  • When listening to music on ATV, it plays two songs from the playlist, then won't play any more.  You can see playlist and songs, but won't respond.  Any ideas?

When listening to music on ATV, it will play two songs from the playlist, then no more.  You can see the playlist on songs, but it won't play.  Turned everything off, reset the network...nothing works.  Any ideas?  It used to play fine...for hours at a time.

    Hi.  Thanks for your reply.
It is happening via "shuffle" in a playlist.  Always two different songs within the playlist.  You can see the next song on the screen that should, theoretically, be playing...but nothing happens.  Even when you push "play" on the remote, it doesn't receive the command.
I reset, then restored ATV.  Now, it doesn't limit itself to two songs, but does stop after a few.  The more trial and error I do, the more I believe the problem is with Homesharing in iTunes.  If I turn off Homeshare, then turn it back on, a couple more songs will play in the playlist.  I have shut down iTunes, restarted computer, completed updates, but nothing seems to change it.
It used to play fine for hours on end, but has now found this glitch.

  • TS3297 How to redownload a song that only downloaded 1/2 the song on a computer?

How do you redownload a song that only downloaded 1/2 the song on a computer and then jumps to the next song?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copy of the track and try redownloading a fresh one. See the following document for instructions:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

  • How to redownload purchased songs?

Soo...I had to do a system recovery for my computer. Before I did that I backed up my files to my flashdrive. But the thing is my flashdrive only had about 5 gigs left so not everything backed up, including some of my itunes songs. About half of my purchases were able to back up and the rest, well they're gone. I tried going on itunes store to redownload them but it says they're already downloaded. So basically its saying it's on my computer but they're not! .-.
How can I redownload them without purchasing them again? I'm pretty sure it's possible...I mean it's ridiculous having to buy all those songs again...>.<
I should also mention that I haven't synced my ipod with my itunes yet so all those songs are still in my ipod. I've tried the "transfer songs" thing but it only did like one...

You should be able to simply open the store, click on Purchases (in the bar on the right),  and redownload the stuff for free.  You may also search for certain songs/albums/artists, and what ever way you choose the songs you have allready purchased will have a cloud in place of the price.

  • Bought slideshow songs but won't let me use them for that

I bought an album for use with power point presentations but itunes won't let me convert the files so I can use them for the exact purpose I purchased them. I don't want to do anything illegal...just use the songs for the correct purpose.

You'll have to burn a CD of the songs and then reimport them to use them in a program other than iTunes.

  • Imported songs but won't  play on Itunes

Hi all. I recently bought a new Ipod and imported songs from it to my Itunes. As soon as I had imported them there is an exclamation mark next to each song. When I try to play it Itunes says that the song cannot be found. Anyone know why?
There on my Ipod and working but none work when imported.
If it makes a difference I imported by adding folder to library.
    Thanks.
    Scott

Are you saying you have music on an external drive and it won't play if the drive is not plugged in?
You are not very clear with your question, but I wonder if you tried to add them to your library on your internal drive. If so take a look at:
    Edit>Preferences>Advanced>General
Is "Copy files to Itunes Music folder when adding to library" checked? If not the songs would be left on the external drive.
If this is the case, you could plug in your external drive and then consolidate your library. This will copy ALL files not in your iTunes Music folder into the iTunes Music folder.
If you intentionally keep some of your music outside the iTunes Music folder you may want to think about the implications before using Consolidate.

  • Purchased song but won't play

    Hey everyone,
So I just purchased Joss Stone's new single and downloaded it. For some reason though, it will not play. The video works fine but when I click the song nothing happens at all. Any suggestions?

I am having the same issue. Ever since I updated iTunes to 7 and the following updates, I have had this issue. It happens with purchased music and videos. I downloaded the Super Bowl Highlights and still haven't been able to watch them.
The purchased songs will play for the first day I have them, and then they will not play any more. Sometimes, the song will play again, and nothing else on the playlist will work...fast forward to the next day, the newly purchased song/songs will not play, and the rest of the playlist will work fine. Aggrevating, to say the least.
    Please help us....

  • How to delete itunes songs but keep music on ipod when connected

This may sound like a strange request but can I delete all my music off itunes but keep the songs on my ipod shuffle when I connect it to itunes to load on new music?
I use sony sonicstage as my main music holding library as I have a sony large storage mp3 player but use my shuffle as a exercise music player.
    Many thanks

*can I delete all my music off itunes but keep the songs on my ipod shuffle when I connect it to itunes to load on new music?*
No you can't. The shuffle doesn't have the same full manual management setting that other iPods have, you have to have the songs in iTunes or they'll be removed from the iPod.

  • I recently purchased 3 CD's, some of the songs are cut off in the middle of the song.  Itunes sent me a link several times to redownload the songs, but each time either the same songs or different songs would be cut short each time I redownloaded the CD's

  • HT3951 Some of my songs in my itunes account only partially play. Same for my iphone. I have tried redownloading purchased songs but it is still doing it.

I had songs on my iphone that played great. Then when I synced my iphone to my computer some songs would only partially play. I repurchased/downloaded the songs into my itunes account and tried to resync. Now a lot of my songs only partially play both in my itunes account and on my iphone. What is going on and what do I need to do to get all of my purchased music onto my phone and in my itunes account?

Thi is happening to both my wife and me.  We have different iPhones (4 and 4S) and different computer (MacBook and MacBookPro).  The problem still hasn't been solved and it' concerning that pple doesn't respond to this thread or the archived ones back to 2007.

  • My ipod touch downloads songs but won't let me select one

My Ipod touch will download songs. When I go to music to select a song all entries are grayed out and will not allow me to select one. What do I need to do to change this so the songs are available to be selected?

To download and install an app the iPod needs storage available equal to about three times the file download size. Thus you need abut 4.5 GB free storage space on the iPod which you do not have.
If you sync from your iTunes library less storage available is required.

  • After Yosemite update, iTunes recognizes but won't play songs

    Hey guys,
I updated to Yosemite today. Things are still groggy but generally good...except for iTunes 12.0.1.26
The library loads and can find my songs but they won't play. I've tried several different methods to play tracks but nothing appears to happening. It goes into a play state at 0:00 in the song but won't advance.
I don't see mention so far of other users struggling, but I hope you can help.
    iMac 24-inch Early 2009 model.

I called Apple Care. The tech said the problem was not common and the symptoms seemed to require a PRAM reset. So that's what we did.
To do the PRAM Rest, on reboot, hold:
    ⌘ + ⌥ + P + R
The computer will do its startup chime twice...like its rebooting each time. After that, it took a little extra time to reboot and then worked smoothly.
I did still have a few weird anomalies...
1 - Airplay in iTunes defaulted on...I had to turn it back off
2 - Airplay was selected as the default in System Settings too...
I had to turn off Airplay in iTunes and select Headphone out in System Settings > Sound but now everything seems to be in order.
