How to refresh notification center?

Hello guys! First time posting here but I could not find help or the answer anywhere.
I'm currently running a late 2008 Unibody Macbook Pro with 10.8.2. All software is updated and all my data is backed up. My issue is in Notification Center on the Mac (swipe over with the trackpad) I have old birthdays that came from Facebook that will not go away.
I am currently using iCloud to sync contacts and calendars and have facebook sycing turned on for contacts. I also have "show birthdays" checked in iCal. I have removed ALL accounts before and set up again and they still show up. They will disappear when I turn it off then reappear when I turn it back on. I even reomved those friends from facebook so they are not even in my contacts or iCal. Just in Notification center, and every day is show 1 day longer (ie: John Smith's Birthday 38 days ago). I feel like my notification center needs to refresh somehow.
I really don't want to do an erase and install..
Any help would be great! Thanks for your time guys.

Welcome to the community! Go ahead and try the following:
sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.notificationcenterui KeepAlive -bool false
To undo this, simply repeat the command and replace the word "false" with "true" in the command.
Change this key value from its default of "true" to "false" and save the file to disable automatic launching of the Notification Center (click for larger view).
When this edit is done, restart the system to reload the modified launch agent file, and Notification Center will now be disabled.
Just remember to restart the computer once its disabled, enable the application, then do a second restart. Let us know if it worked.

  • How to Download notification center ?

    Hi,
    I was wondering why the new Notification center was not downloaded with the other new standard apps. when i upgraded my software a couple of weeks ago?
    Thanks

    It's not a normal app. What appears in the Notification Centre is controlled via Settings > Notifications - you can select which apps appear in notification centre. It's then accessed by :
    Just swipe down from the top of any screen to enter Notification Center.
    New notifications appear briefly at the top of your screen, without interrupting what you’re doing. And the Lock screen displays notifications so you can act on them with just a swipe.

  • How do I get all day events to show back up in my notification center after iOS8 update?

    I have a iPhone 5, with iOS 8, 16GB
    OK, none of my calender events are showing up in my notification center, and I have all type's of events on my calender, I have tried going in to my settings < then notifications < then calender < now, on this screen it shows that I am allowing notifications, so I went to upcoming events < and everything on this screen is on, I don't know what to do. How do I fix this? Can someone please help me?

    Unfortunately, iOS 7 and iOS 8 do not show All-day-events in the Notification Centre.
    Try to do a search within the forums or just google it and you will see that this is how ios7 and 8 have been designed from the start, and a major issue in my opinion.

    Mountain Lion: on the Notification Center notification and Mail:
    how to limit notifications to an email account?
    At least, is it possible to choose what email account, the arrival of a message launch a notification.
    When running more than a dozen e-mail accounts, it may be appropriate to display only the notifications of one or two major accounts.

    Which os are you using?  Which Mail version are you using?

  • How can i remove the phone number from the text messages that i receive in the notification center

    how can i remove the phone number from the text messages that i receive in the notification center?

    You choose whether to see text messages in Notification Center or not.  If you elect to see them, they will display the phone number (unless they are from a contact in your contacts list).
    You can choose not to see them at Settings > Notification Center > Messages.

  • How do I unlink my friend's Facebook account and my notification center?

    My notification center keeps receiving notifications from my friend's Facebook page. I have logged her out from all of my web browsers, but I am still receiving her notifications. I would like to know how to unlink her page from my notification center, for her privacy's sake.

    this thing works:
    Just go into "Settings"  and click on "Internet Accounts"  (it looks like the @ sign) and then click on Facebook and click the minus  sign at he bottom.  It will delete the account and it will get rid of the notifications.  Then to add your own personal account, click the plus sign and you can use your own log in....

  • How to change font size of the date in notification center?

    The language of yosemite system on my macbook pro is “Traditional Chinese”. If the month and day of  a date are both composed of two characters, for example, Oct 23 (“10月23日” in Chinese), the last character of the date will go to a new line (as shown in the picture attached). It’s ugly!!!
    I think this issue can be solved by decrease the font size of the date. Is there anyone knows how to do this or where the configuration file of the notification center is? Thanks!

    AFAIK there is no way to customize this font size. You can't resize the window either.
    You need to report it to Apple Feedback so it can be logged and put in the queue to be fixed.

  • How to embed applescript into a shell script for notification center

    I have managed to cobble this together:
    You can run it in your Terminal, it is harmless, and will output results that will show you a notification from notification center:
    I have items on my pasteboard as the results of a script, I want to pbpaste them into the below command, but can't get the syntax right.  I am not objectionable to string concatenation and building or whatever it takes.
    osascript -e 'display notification "The url(s) are on your clipboard from my.app" with title "my.app has finished" subtitle "Some Sub title"'
    Ideally, I want to put `pbpaste` in the "Some title" section, but I get the literal string. I try creating a variable, and get that literal string.
    I tried building the entire string up as one variable, which in the Terminal echo'd out and works, but in Notification Center, I get the actually literal variable.  It's mainly a bash script, so the context witch to AppleScript i being a pain in the rear.
    Suggestions? Any master out there that this makes any sense to?

    As it stands, and the way you have your notification structured, this is the output from the notification center. I did an echo "From the clipboard" | pbcopy before I ran the following script. It uses a Bash function, osascript HERE document, and shows how to pass variables to the function, and receive them in AppleScript. If you want substring text that is not the result of pbpaste, then you can either make the string inside the AppleScript, or pass the string in as a variable.
    To get this output, I used the following Bash/Osascript combination:
    #!/bin/bash
    #osascript -e 'display notification "The url(s) are on your clipboard from
    #my.app" with title "my.app has finished" subtitle "Some Sub title"'
    function notification () {
      `osascript <<-AppleScript
            set txt1 to "The URL(s) are on your clipboard from "
            set txt2 to " has finished"
        set appName to "$1" as text
        set subStr to "$2" as text
        set noteStr to txt1 & appName
        set titleStr to appName & txt2
        tell application "System Events"
            display notification noteStr with title titleStr subtitle subStr
            delay 1 -- give notification time to fire
        end tell
        return quit
    AppleScript`
    appName="foo.app"
    #echo $appName
    subTitle="$(pbpaste)"
    #echo $subTitle
    notification "${appName}" "${subTitle}"
    exit 0

    Which adaptor? What kind of LCD?
    Normally, all you have to do is attach the appropriate cable to your laptop, connect it to your other monitor/screen, and make sure the monitor is powered, turned on, and has the correct input (if it has multiple inputs). For example, a monitor might have DVI and VGA, and an "input switcher" to select which one you want.
