How To Reinstall The Mac App Store?

When someone was on my computer they used App Cleaner to delete it entirely. I'm not sure if its a joke or whatever. How do I redownload/install it? I'm using a early 2011 MPB running Mac OS X Lion.

Reinstalling Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.
Unless you have a backup then restore from your backup.

  • I don't know how to reinstall the Mac App Store after I deleted it on my Mac!

HELP! I deleted the Mac App Store because it hasn't been working for a few days now, every time I tried to download an app it said "Connection Failed" my internet is working and connected properly, I type in all the correct info for my apple ID/Password, it wouldn't let me download any apps and this has gone on for a few days already, so I decided to delete the Mac App Store and reinstall it, but I can't reinstall it, I have to download the whole latest version again, which I can't because you download it thru the Mac app store! By the way i have the latest version for mac, i think heres my version: Mac OS X version 10.9.4, now i don't know what to do..... I'm i gonna have to take this to the apple store and ask? If so what will they say? Or does anyone have a solution? Please leave a response has this happened to anyone else?

OS X Mavericks: Reinstall OS X Heres the link if anyone else had the same problem!! This is if you deleted not only the Mac App Store, but iTunes, Calendar, whatever came with the Mac (Apps that came already installed on the Mac), if you deleted one of those then you have to reinstall the Mac OS, Note: This one is for Mac OS X (Maverick) my version is 10.9.4, go to that link and follow the instructions if you have Mac OS X (Maverick). Other help: Common Mistake: If you delete the app from the dock then just go to finder and applications folder and drag the app back onto the dock(it was just deleted from the dock NOT your system/computer). Hope that helps others who had the same problem.

  • How do I download and reinstall the mac app store?

I'm running 10.6.8 and I removed the Mac App Store application from my application folder because after numerous attempts it kept failing to open.
I went back to my software update hoping it would re-install the App Store.  No such luck.  Curious how I might go about re-installing an working version of the Mac App Store software.
    Thanks so much.

Installing the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
will reinstall the App Store for you. It's ok to do this even though you already running v10.6.8
Restart your Mac after the combo is installed.
You should then be able to access the App Store from your Apple menu, the Dock, or the Applications folder.

  • How I reinstall removed Mac App Store

Hi everyone, I have a problem.
I'm using Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 and I removed the Mac App Store from my iMac (accidentally). Now, I want to install the new Mac OS X Mavericks but I need the App Store to do.
I tried to extract "AppStore.app" from OS X 10.8.5 Update Combo but nothing... How I do to reinstall Mac App Store on my computer?
    Thanks guys.

You can't delete the App Store app from Yosemite. If you try, this is what you get.
It's likely that you removed it from the Dock. The is a shortcut to the App Store in the  menu. The app should be in the Applications folder. You can drag & drop it back onto the Dock.

  • How do I install snow leopard from the email/pdf Apple sent me if I dont have the Mac App store?

I need to update my Mac to snow leopard.  I purchased it online, and they sent me an email with the redemption code.  The instructions say I have to redeem it from the Mac App Store, but since you have to have Snow Leopard or higher to get the Mac App Store, I don't know how to redeem my purchase....please help.

You have half of the equation. Buy Snow Leopard and when the DVD arrives you use it to upgrade your Leopard system or erase the drive and install a clean copy of Snow Leopard. If you decide to do the former then be sure you use Disk Utility to repair the hard drive and permissions:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
If you choose the latter do the following:
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Sign into the App Store with your Apple ID and password. Click on the Featured icon in the toolbar. On the right below Quick Links you will see the Redeem link. Click on it to redeem Mountain Lion.

  • How do I download the Mac App Store using OS X 10.5.8

how do I download the Mac App Store using OS X 10.5.8

Well, you can cancel your Snow Leopard order if it hasn't already shipped. You need not wait on it as you can download Mountain Lion now that you have a redemption coupon (I assume that's what you meant by the email.)
After Mountain Lion is installed you can download a free copy of Mavericks. This all assumes that your computer meets the requirements for Mountain Lion.
Before you do any upgrade I strongly urge you to do this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Personally, I would erase the hard drive then install the new OS X version. First, make a backup of your files from which you can later restore.

  • I don't have the Mac app Store in my computer, how i can download! (mac os x 10.6.8)

i don't know how update or download the app: MAC APP STORE. i have the app but every time i open, that closes. Plues the icon is a blank sheet of paper whit two pencils.. help!!

First, reinstall Mac OS X 10.6.8 with the Combo edition > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1399 Then, you should be able to use the Mac App Store.
If it doesn't work, reinstall Mac OS X. To do that, insert the Snow Leopard DVD, start your computer holding the C key and reinstall OS X. You won't lose anything. After reinstalling Mac OS X, open  > Software Update, and install 10.6.8

  • I cannot reinstall an app from the mac app store

I've purchased, downloaded, and installed an app named Magic Number on my MBP. However, apparently something went wrong when downloading it to my iMac, because the app simply is not present on the system - it isn't in /Applications, it isn't in Launchpad, and it isn't anywhere on the file system according to find(1). When I go to the purchased tab in the App Store.app, the application shows up there as installed, but there is no way for me to reinstall it - I can't even delete it from my system because it isn't on my system.  How can I tell the App Store to redownload and reinstall this app?
Please note that I am using the appropriate Apple Store id.

    Figured it out.
Apparently, the Mac App Store can see the app if it is installed on an external drive. I have a backup drive attached to my iMac that also contains backups for my MBP - the MAS was seeing the app on the MBP backup partititon, and assuming that I had it installed.  Oy.  Thanks for trying to help...

  • Reinstalling apps from the mac app store?

I am having a terrible time loading xcode 4.1
It fails everytime and when I visit the app store it says "installed"
I would love to re down load it.
    Worked fine until Lion

    Hi Winston,
I've also made a copy of the Applications, Library, System and Users folders from the first drive to a third internal drive, just in case.
The Mac App Store is probably seeing the Apps on your 3rd Drive hence they are already installed.
In addition I have some iWork and iLife apps that came from a disc and not the Mac App store, I understand instead of reinstalling from the discs I can download them from the Mac App store, can you tell me how I do this please.
The other Apps from the disc will have to be purchased from MAS if you want them linked to the store. Apps installed from discs aren't recognized by MAS. Hope this helps.

  • How do I use my Itunes credit on the Mac App store

I have a credit in iTunes which I wish to use to buy some apps on the Mac App store. However it doesnt seem to be taking that payment method. How do I solve this?

iTunes and the Mac App Store are the same account and credits redeemed for one are available for the other. The issue may be that you have not allowed for the sales tax that the US store applies in the final steps of a sale. US prices do not yet have the local sales tax added. If the credit does nt cover the total the sustem will ask for another payment method to cover the remaining balance.

  • HT203421 How do I get iphone apps in the mac app store? Also, my apps from my iphone will not sync to my mac. Why is this?

I've had my iphone 4 for a couple years, but I've recently purchased a new macbook air. For some reason, I do not have the option of syncing my apps from my iphone to itunes. I am currently running ios 6 on my phone, but I don't want to update until the apps are backed up to the computer. How do I resolve this? Also, is there a way to download and/or update iphone apps from the mac app store?

Connect the iPhone and iTunes will open automatically. Then, go to iTunes menu (on the menu bar) > Devices > Transfer purchases, and all the content downloaded from the App Store and the iTunes Store will be transferred to the MacBook. Note that in iTunes 11 you can choose the iPhone at the top right part of your iTunes window.
The Mac App Store is used to download Mac OS X apps, and the App Store is used to download apps for iPod touch, iPad and iPhone. You can't download apps for iPhone from the Mac App Store. Instead, you can download them from iTunes or from the iPhone

  • How do I download an app from the Mac App Store but not install it yet?

How do I download an app from the Mac App Store but not install it yet?
Can I simply download it and not install?
What if the App gets updated before I download it?
Why? Well, I am very busy and wish to install at my leisure even though I have purchased the App (required at a specific day in the month in order to appear on my business accounts).
    Thanks.

There is a difference in what Kappy stated and what you stated. A major paid upgrade (v2.x to v3.0), yes, costs money, as it would in any other delivery stream. Updates (v3.0 to v3.1) to a a major version are free.
Most apps sold through the Mac App Store (MAS) are the type that use the simple drag & drop installation. Those are downloaded directly to the designated apps folder and installation is done. Large pro-type apps download an installer to your Apps folder. Those you can install at your leisure. The MAS does not have a lot of apps using this type of installation.
Be sure to always backup your MAS purchases, because there is no guarantee that the app will always be available for download in the future and it is your responsibility to archive copies.

Get more information about your computer. Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window, then  "About This Mac".  Write down what it says about "version"and report that here.  Now continue to "More Info..."  Copy and paste the information here, but omit the serial number and Hardware UUID (if present).
If you have a PPC Mac you cannot sync your idevice without a newer computer.  See the end of this post for options.
If it says you have an Intel Mac you can upgrade to Snow Leopard, but check system requirements first:
    Snow Leopard 10.6 Technical Requirements - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
You can buy Snow Leopard at:
Snow Leopard disc source - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard
After installing run the updater to 10.6.8, then upgrade iTunes.
Jan. 2014 post by Kappy on doing all this: https://discussions.apple.com/message/24599931
Options if you cannot upgrade:  iTunes Store purchases can already be downloaded directly. Use iTunes Match to put non-Store music in iCloud, then download to your device from there.  Backup your device directly to  iCloud over a wireless connection.  Photos can be downloaded from the Camera Roll using iPhoto or Image Capture.
