How to relocate?

I tried to package `nengo` yesterday, and put all the mess in the /opt..
but it looks like it will create an directory `/opt/nengo/lib/cachedir/packages` before launching.Where user has no permission.
I find Wiki says.
Bear in mind that /usr may be mounted as read-only on some systems. If there are files in the shared directory that need to be written by the application, they may have to be relocated to /etc, /var, or the user's home directory.
But how should it be done?I just creat '/lib/cachedir/packages' in the PKGBUILD. The UI can launch now, but it quite a terrible workaround.
I'm a newbie to packaging, and may sorry for poor English.

You can set the Jython cachedir:
package() {
sed -i 's|^java |&-Dpython.cachedir=/tmp/nengo |' "$pkgdir/opt/$pkgname/$pkgname"
Thank you very much,I got it.

  • How to relocate table in new tablespace in Oracle 8i

    Hi all
I would like to know how to relocate table from one tablespace to another tablespace in Oracle 8i. Currently, I create new table without data in new tablespace and then load data from old table in old tablespace. However, I think it is not efficient at all. Could anyone kindly advise any method to proceed it
    Thanks

Nick has pointed out the best way to relocate a table. With the alter table move command you do not have to worry about FK or any other kind of constraints, table triggers, or grants. They all remain in place. You just need to rebuild the indexes as Nick pointed out.
There were some restrictions on the types of tables that could be moved with alter table move when the command first was introduced. I think LOB columns were unsupported at first. The old exp/imp had to be used for those cases.

  • I have lost over 20,000 photos in my iPhoto'08 program (v 7.1.5). Any tips on how to relocate them?

I have lost thousands of photos in my iPhoto'08 program (v 7.1.5).  I don't think they are lost from my iMac as the storage amount hasn't decreased but the last several years of picks (over 20,000) are not showing up.  Any tips on how to relocate them?

Hi LarryHN-thanks for your quick reply!!
Nothing recently changed that  Ican think of! I went on vacation and when I returned, I uploaded my new photos.  That's when I discovered that the new photos were in the library but very few other photos were.
When you say to back up the iPhoto library, is this something different that backing up the entire iMac to an external hard drive?

  • How to relocate additional content files?

    Hello.
I have a MacBook Pro 15" late 2011. Mac OS 10.8.2 is installed on the 128 Gb SSD drive, and my "Home" directory and all files needed for my work, I placed on 1TB HDD in OptiBay.
I have a problem with Logic Pro 9.1.8 Installation process.
Can I install additional content from Logic Pro to HDD or relocate content files after installation? I'm using many "heavy" software and plug-ins in my work, and very important to me how much free space is left on the system drive.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

    Hi
The download installers will not let you install anywhere except the OS drive.
Whilst you could move *most* of the content to another drive, it is probably easiest to start with the AppleLoops themselves:
    Library:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple.
When you move them, you will need to re-index the Loop Browser: simply drag the new (moved) folders in the Finder on top of the Loop Browser in Logic.
It might be best to leave the 'basic' Garageband loops where they are.
If you need to make even more room on your boot drive, you could think about moving the JamPack sampler instruments (around 14G), but this could cause some issues with the EXS not finding the samples in  their new location. Similarly, you could move the Factory EXS samples (4G), with the same caveat.

  • How to relocate control file?

I want to relocate my control files to a new location.. I want to know my options on how to do this (apart from shutting down db). Users are logged on most of the time. Oracle version is 9i.

the only way i know is to shutdown the DB, change the parameter value CONTROL_FILES, copy the file to the new location and restart. Since this parameter cannot be modified online, i doubt you can do this without bouncing the instance.

  • How to relocate ios backup in Itunes?

How can I relocate the Itunes IOS backup in Mac? I dont have enough space on my main drive and I want it to save on my external drive. You cant just edit this yourself in Itunes (even after years). I think Apple did this on purpose so people will buy more Icloud space. Not very costumer friendly if you ask me. Also, I never see a video about it....how strange, because allot of people think this is handy. Because on a SSD on your mac it is not easy to backup 20gb for just your IOS divice and I use Ipad and Iphone.

Tnx, but I already saw that one ( it was the first search that I tried on). I google it after all. I'am actually looking for a video that shows me to doe this backup trick on the mac, because it is not working for me. I think I am missing something or I am doing something the wrong way. But with a video I can just do axaclty the same. Much easier. So I cant understund why I can not find a video for it.....but thanks for the link anyway .

I want change this service to server 3, just in order to have this backup lun on this server to make some maintenance operations on server 1. Service name is LUN_BACKUP

    I've tryed this syntax:
srvctl relocate service -h LUN_BACKUPNo. "srvctl relocate service -h" only gives you some help :$ srvctl relocate service -h
    Usage: srvctl relocate service -d <name> -s <service_name> -i <old_inst_name> -t <new_inst_name> [-f]
-d <name>           Unique name for the database
        -s <service>        Service name

  • How to relocate media cache folder?

For User with SSD "C" drives the cache file quickly fill the drive; therefore, it would be advantageous to relocate the cache storage to a Data drive.  I have yet to find a way to manage this task.

    DrTompkins
Please check out Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks and the Media Cache category in particular. In the preference you can point the Media Cache (Conformed Audio Files) to hard drive save location of your choice. Note - in preferences you will see the current location of the Media Cache Files Folder as well as the amount of free hard drive space at that location.
While you are in the preferences, check out the other categories, location and free hard drive space at that location. See specially Video Previews. At its hard drive location, you will find the preview files that are automatically generated each time you render Timeline content...for SD, dv.avi and for HD, MPEG2.mpg (same formats whether the preview is from video or still source...they can pile up significantly).
There is also Edit Menu/Preferences/Media and its Media Cache Database area. Best use the Clean button there for maintenance purposes. This relates to the Media Cache Files Folder in the location Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common and in the Common Folder is the Media Cache Files Folder that contains the conformed video files (mcdb).
This Media Cache Files Folder seems to return/regenerate anew to its default location no matter how hard you try to redirect it.
Any questions or need clarification on any of the above, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thank you.

  • How to relocate 'faces' cache?

I'm wondering if there is any way to relocate iPhoto faces in a separate folder other than the folder where the pictures are stored so that they aren't cluttered with tiny faces extracted from individual photos. It's just kind of annoying to search for a picture and all I see are a hundred tiny heads. Any advice would be helpful, otherwise I would prefer to just not use iPhoto.

No, iPhoto does not give the users control over how the elements in the internal databases are stored. You are supposed to access the photos using iPhoto, that is ultimately the purpose of iPhoto, to store and retrieve the photos for you.
There are several ways how other applications can access the photos without opening iPhoto:  See Terence Devlin's user tips:

  • MediaSource 5, how to relocate fold

    Hi Creative world,
is there any possibility to tell MediaSource database, that I had to relocate my music folder, without loosing all my settings for rating, No. of playbacks, moods etc, which are only stored inside the database and not with my MP3-tag?
I work with MediaSource (German version) since 4 years now and accumulated over 2800 songs. I would like to swap them all to a new location (a new and bigger harddri've).
Now when I move a song to the new location by using the Windows Explorer, it will be removed from the database and detected as a new song by the sniffer at the new location. But then I have to rate it, as if it were a new song, which actually it isn't.
This is a pretty tough thing to do for 2800 files and I would love to avoid it somehow.
I've searched this forum and the web through and through, wondering how others organize their music. I tried to open the database file with different database programs, but didn't succeed.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks for your efforts.

  • How to relocate itunes library to external drive

    Hi Folks,
In another forum on the above topic I found an answer that consisted as a TWENTY-FOUR-PAGES-long forum discussion. I hope that there is someone who can nutshell 24 pages for this newbie
I have an external SimpleTech hard drive, Windows Xp, Compaq, laptop. I don't want to lose my itunes library, if my computer crashes. And, I don't want to eat up all my computer memory with music and podcast/vodcast files.
    1) Is there a simple, step-by-step operation to relocate my itunes library to my external drive? I hope one of you are willing to take the time to help me out.
    2) In addition to HOW to do it, what does it mean, practically? I mean itunes remains on my computer, right? And, it just goes back and forth to the external drive for my music files, right?
    3) Can I put my album artwork on the external, as well?
    Thank you
    Randy

Is there a simple, step-by-step operation to relocate my itunes library to my external drive?
    Yes:
    - Launch iTunes, click Edit > Preferences > Advanced tab > General tab
    - Click the 'change' button to redirect your iTunes Music Folder to your external hard drive. It's sometimes helpful if you open that hard drive through Windows Explorer first, and create a folder on it called 'iTunes' or something similar.
    - Select both options to "Keep iTunes music folder organized" and "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and then click OK
    - Click your Advanced menu and choose Consolidate Library
This copies your library files onto the hard drive and ensures that iTunes looks there for the files. Once this is completed, and you've verified iTunes is reading the files from the external drive (you can right click on the file and click Get Info, then click the Summary tab, and at the bottom it'll say "Where" and show you where your file is stored) you can go into your My Music folder on the computer and delete the iTunes files.
The iTunes program files will still be stored on your C: drive, to make Windows happy, and it just refers to your external hard drive to find the files so it can play them and sync them to your iPod.
When you follow the above steps, your Album Artwork should copy to the external drive as well.
Apple has this support document on the issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
    Hope this is helpful

  • How to relocate the abs-tree

    Hi,
I reinstalled my laptop, I wanted to save the abstree and I found a line in
    /etc/makepkg.conf:
    # the top-level directory of all your PKGBUILDs
    export ABSROOT="/usr/abs/"
Cewl, this make it easier for me to keep my own costumized abs-repository
at a seperate partition,(well, i could mount this partition to /usr/abs, but I
wanted to try it with "ABSROOT")
Well I tried to relocate my abs-tree there - but it failed. Running "abs" as root
downloaded all the files to /usr/abs.
Now, before I try to crash my system, if I put the quoted line to /etc/profile
would it work? If ABSROOT is important for "makepkg" so it should be
important for "abs", too, and so makepkg.conf should be parsed everytime
"abs" is running, or am I wrong here?
    bye neri

No, you make a good point.  the 'abs' script doesn't pay any attention to makepkg.conf, it is hard-coded to use /usr/abs instead (though I'll change this in the future).
For now, you'll have to edit /usr/bin/abs and change the top line, ABS_ROOT, to point to your new abs location.

  • How to relocate one of the control files on another computer?

Thanks.Even if you get this to work one time, the very operation of your db is dependent on the availability of that second computer. Not a wise design decision. What problem are you trying to solve with this technique?
