How to reset Safari 8.0.3?

I want to reset my safari because the homepage was changed by adware (I removed the adware) and I do not know how to get it back to the default. Thanks x

Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items.  Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History and Web Site Data. The down side is it clears all cookies.Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site.

How To reset Safari window size back to original factory setting?
I resize my pages often but I don't want to always keep them at random sizes. I want to know the proper method to reset the webpage size back to it default size. Right now it's too wide, and I click the green plus button in the upper left corner and it goes down to a very small size, I click the green plus again and it returns to the Too Wide size. I just can't seem to get it to go back to the default size.
    Thanks for your help!

You could try this.   Set the safatri page to your convenience by dragging the bottom right hand corner of the page.   Quit safari, then immediately relaunch.   It should start up the same size as it was before you quit.  Then ...
Go to Safari > preferences and set the page as your home page.

  • How to reset safari 8

How can I reset safari 8 on os x yosemite. I have redirect problem on my browser. I want to search things from toolbar using google but it redirects me to a different search engine. I checked all extensions there is no one there that seems wrong. please help me.

In OS X 10.10, with the new update to Safari, you can't simply reset Safari like before. Now you have to actually go in and manually disengage anything plugged in to safari.
This means entering the Library folders for both the system and user accounts affected by the Trovi/Conduit/Search protect redirect malwares.
First up is closing Safari down. Quit it, or Force Quit it using the Command/Option/Esc shortcut. Next up is to navigate to Finder and remove traces of the pest in your user files.
While some antivirus programs are great for this, avoid MacKeeper like the plague, it basically will do the same thing. Do not ever use it.
I should warn you, deleting files in this part may affect your computer adversely. When in doubt, TIME MACHINE BACKUP!!!!
Mouse up to the "Go" top menu selection, and hold down the Option/Alt key. Magically, the Library folder will appear, which you'll need to click on, and go in to. The file path should be something along the lines of /Users/YOURNAME/Library. Inside this are a few folders that you'll need to pop in and check out. Application Support is one of them, this will house anything dealing with preference files or misc files for programs or apps, including in some cases, search redirect add ons. Find the name of your assailant, be it Trovi, Conduit, or the plethora of others out there that hijack your browser (take note of the website it launches when you go to your homepage, check Safari's system preferences to double check prior to this dive into your system files).
Once you've located files associated with the program, Command/Delete them, or just delete them however you normally would. Securely empty the trash to ensure that even if they're in use, they will be deleted.
Next folder on the list is back in the Library, so head backwards in the File path and scroll down to Internet Plug-ins. Inside this folder is anything Safari uses, either intentionally or not. Clear anything in there that doesn't look right, this Folder is normally empty by default anyways.
Next folder for inspection is back in the Library folder, named Safari. This is the real bread and butter here, and where you'll find .plist files galore. You should open and clear Extensions folder, LastSession.plist, as well as the Local Storage folder. Do not delete folders in this enclosing Safari folder, only files.
Empty the trash securely again. Next up is to check the system Library folder for any lingering pest files. The filepath for this folder is simply inside the main drive, Library will be on the same hierarchy as Users, System, Applications, and so on. Open the Library folder, open Application Support folder, and again, check for anything suspicious. Anything inside this folder is a series of preference files for applications used by users/the system. Hopefully there should be nothing in this folder to delete, but on occasion you'll see Trovi or other folders in there.
The next folder to check, back up the ladder in to Library, is the Internet Plug-ins folder. This will contain files for you to delete, likely as .plugin files.
The final folder to check is back in the Library, called Preferences. This is where hunting and pecking will be a time consuming affair. You will likely have roughly 100+ files inside this folder, each of them is a com.whatever.whatever.plist file. These are pretty important files. Among these plist files will very likely be a trovi or conduit plist with a com.trovi.whatever.plist file name. Delete that little file, securely empty your trash.
The final process to finish this all up will be to set your homepage in Safari back to what it used to be. Open it up (WITH YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION OFF), go to your Safari preferences, input your homepage, then save that and close Safari. Restart the Mac, then turn on your Wifi/ethernet connection, and open Safari. It should be hijack-free.

  • How to reset Safari 8.0.2 on OS X Yosemite?

Macbook Pro running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1
    Safari Version 8.0.1
I want to restore Safari to default settings and completely wipe the application. I haven't found a way to do this, I've looked on Youtube, Apple Support, and many other websites. None of them include information on how I can reset Safari.
    Thanks in advance!

Back up all data before proceeding.
Quit Safari if it’s running. Then select
               ▹ Force Quit…
from the menu bar. A small window will open with a list of running applications. Safari may appear in that list, even though you quit it. If so, select it and press return. Close the window.
    Step 1
If Adobe Flash Player is installed, select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced ▹ Delete All...
In the sheet that opens, check the box marked
Delete All Site Data and Settings
then click Delete Data. Close the preference pane.
Hold down the option key and select
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Delete the following items from the Library folder (some may not exist):
              Caches/com.apple.Safari
              Caches/com.apple.Safari.SearchHelper
              Caches/com.apple.SafariServices
              Caches/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess
              Caches/com.apple.WebProcess
              Caches/Metadata/Safari
              Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginHost.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.WebKit.PluginProcess.plist
              Saved Application State/com.apple.Safari.savedState
Leave the Library folder open. Try Safari again. If the problem is solved, stop here. Close the Library folder. If you still have a problem, continue.
    Step 2
Restart the computer in safe mode. Certain caches maintained by the system will be rebuilt.
Safe mode is much slower to start up than normal.
When the login screen appears, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and test. There's no need to log in while in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode. In that case, ask for instructions.
    Step 3
If Safari still doesn’t work, quit, go back to the Finder, and move the following items from the open Library folder to the Desktop (again, some may not exist):
              Cookies/Cookies.binarycookies
              Internet Plug-Ins
              Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.Safari.*.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.Safari.Extensions.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.Safari.LSSharedFileList.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
              Preferences/com.apple.WebFoundation.plist
              PubSub/Database
              Safari
              SyncedPreferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Here, "*" stands for a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes.
Note 1: You are not moving the Safari application. You’re moving a folder named “Safari.”
Note 2: This step will remove your Safari extensions, if any, and their settings. If you choose to reinstall them, do so one at a time, testing each time to make sure you haven’t restored the problem.
Try again. Your settings and bookmarks will be lost. The default set of bookmarks will be restored. Delete them all.
If Safari is now working normally (apart from the lost settings), look inside the “Safari” folder on the Desktop for a file named “Bookmarks.plist”. Select
              File ▹ Import Bookmarks...
from the Safari menu bar. Import from that file. Recreate the rest of your Safari settings. You can then delete the items you moved to the Desktop.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Safari again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were, overwriting the newer ones that may have been created in their place. You don’t need to replace the files you deleted in Step 1. Stop here and post again.
If you don’t like the results of the last step, you can undo it completely by quitting Safari and restoring the items you moved or deleted in that step from your backup, overwriting any that were created in their place.

  • HOW TO RESET SAFARI 8 TO DEFAULT SETTINGS

I am having trouble with my Safari 8 browser. Lately I have problems getting some pages and videos to load. I am noticing that the alert pops up saying something about Flash blocked for this site, and an arrow asking if I want to allow. I have tried re-installing flash player to no avail. I have been using Firefox lately because of this problem, but would like to go back to Safari. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Why did they have to re-invent Safari and ruin it?

    Try un-installing and then re-installing.
    Adobe Flash Uninstaller
    Adobe Flash Player
To reset Safari, Safari/Clear History and Website Data. Also go to Safari/Preferences/Advanced, enable the Develop Menu, then go there and Empty Caches.

  • Safari 8 needs two click to load links or send to homepage, only on a website that runs well in other mac or browser: how to reset safari?

Hello, i'm going crazy with this issue.
I upgraded to 10.10 my MBP Retina two weeks ago without any problem.
Yesterday i noticed that one website i mange (e-commerce done with magento) all links, tabs and menù didn't worked.
Whatever i was clicking I always was redirected to the homepage (Index.php).
I empty the cache, I canceled the user and passwords connected to this website (public or backend), i removed all data form "privacy" menù....
    nothing...
I also tried, in development menù, to de-activate "styles" (in Italian we have "stili) that is the template, but i get the sam effect.
Changed connection, restarted the mac, restarted safari...
I only noticed one thing: if i make a "double click" on the link, menù, ecc.. it will bring me on the correct page and will keep in
If i press just one time i see an instant the correct link than a redirect to homepage....
This happens only with one of my websites, all made with magento, all placed in the same server.
If i try using chrome or firefox it works well
If i use my iMac with Yosemite it works well.....
I'm going crazy... please help me

I used this method and all seems ok... i hope...
    Is this a virus?

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

  • Reset safari vs empty cache

In Safari 7.1.4, how is "reset safari" different from enabling the develop menu and "empty caches." I thought reseting safari did that.

Well, after thinking about it, I looked here. But it tells me a little more of what that does. I'm wondering, based on this, if resetting safari does not do the same.
