  • How to restore mail files from Time Capsule onto a different machine?

My Macbook Pro hard drive crashed, and I want to restore my backed-up mail files from Time Capsule onto my Desktop Mac (iMac 27").  When I try to restore by opening Time Capsule with Mail already open, I can only see the current mail files on the iMac (not the backed up files on the MacBook Pro), even when I point to the MacBook Pro backup file.

  • I cannot transfer my iTunes library to the new macbook pro from time capsule, what to do?

what to do to transfer itune library from time capsule into the new mac book pro(retina)?

You have an Apple Store across the street, how convenient...  I think you should just walk over and ask.
NOTE:  Your iTunes library exists on your computer.  Unless you subscribe to Apple's iTunes Match service (which matches or uploads your library's songs and playlists into iCloud), you cannot use another computer and access your library.
However, you can download previous purchases from the iTunes Store (at no cost) into a different iTunes library (not your library), and then set up the iPod to sync to that library, or set it to Manually manage music and videos, and manually load the songs (and other content) to your iPod.  The manual method may be better in this case, since you won't be accessing that computer's iTunes library again.
To do this, go to the iTunes Store Home screen.  Sign in using your Apple ID (the one you used to make the purchases).  Click Purchased under QUICK LINKS.  On the Purchased screen, you can find and download previous purchases.  It may not be available for audiobook purchases.
After the iPod has the content, you should probably delete everything you downloaded in the computer's iTunes library.

  • How to Restore Data Deleted  from Time Capsule Hard Drive

This question is more about the time capsule in general as opposed to a specific time machine issue.
I'm using my time capsule as an external hard drive that I can access wirelessly and I have accidentally deleted a folder. It didn't go into the trash can on the computer I used to delete the file from my TC, it just disappeared. I have data recovery software (Data Rescue III) but it is unable to locate the TC since it is not a plugged in device. I've tried connecting my computer to the TC via wireless, ethernet, and usb but Data Rescue still won't detect the TC.
How can I get the files back? Is there a way to restore files deleted from the TC when it's being used as a hard drive (not as a time machine for backups)?
    THANKS!!!

There is only one USB port on the back of the Time Capsule, and AFAICT from reading Apple's documentation, the only uses for that port are to connect an external hard drive or printer. You could try connecting that port to your Mac directly via USB cable, but nothing I can find indicates it would work, and you would be solely responsible if it somehow damaged either device (which may or may not even be a possible side effect).
Unfortunately, if connecting the Mac to the Time Capsule via USB does not work, you're probably out of luck. Unless you are willing to crack open the Time Capsule, remove the hard drive and put it in an external enclosure so you can access it with Data Rescue, your data will remain lost. Note for the future that you absolutely *should not ever* keep original, un-backed-up data on a backup drive. It's poor organization and dangerous to boot.

  • Restoring MacBook Pro from Time Machine

I have been having system lock up issues with my MacBook Pro and am getting ready to reinstall a fresh version of Snow Leopard since I can't determine what is causing it. The system will crash and the cursor will turn into the spinning color wheel forever. At this point I do a hard shutdown by holding the power button. I am looking to restore my fresh install of Snow Leopard from my Time Machine backups but am wondering if I do that will my system have the same problem again since it's basically configuring my computer like it was before the fresh install. Any help is appreciated.

From what it sounds like, if you were having a problem before and that is why you are reinstalling OSX, you should just start fresh. Restoring your fresh install from your back may just cause your fresh install to have the same problem from before. That's the boat I'm in now since most likely the problem plaguing my computer is likely stored in my back up file too. So restoring from my backup would make the problem come back.

If you are syncing using iCloud, try going to System Preferences/iCloud (computers) and checking Safari. If it is checked, try deselecting it, wait 10-15 seconds, and then check it again.

  • MacBook Pro and Time Capsule after adding new wireless router

I have a MacBook Pro and Time Capsule (which functions wirelessly to router and computer). I added a new wireless router (netgear, not my idea) and had to change name of wireless network. Now Time Capsule flashes amber and does not show up in Airport Utility.
Do I have to set up Time Capsule from scratch? If so, if you can aim me to directions I won't have to waste tech support's time.
My additional question on a similar vein: I also have a Time Capsule (second time capsule) which is plugged into the wireless router using ethernet cable for use with a windows notebook running windows 7 which backs up wirelessly. Do I have to change anything on this Time Capsule (second Time Capsule) as a result of change in name of network (I've already adjusted computer to connect to network)?
