How to retrieve local disk repositorie when moving VM manager  3.2.2.520 to another host ?

Hi all,
I used OVM on a single server HP EDGE 2950.
I installed VM Server 3.2.2 on HP server.
I installed VM manager 3.2.2 on VM virtual box on my laptop.
Everything works fine,  settup of a repository on local disks of the server , downloading template and created several VMs.
Then i follow procedure from chapter 3.7 of documentation : "Running Oracle VM manager as a Virtual Machine" :
New VM  for VM manager created
VM manager installation running ./runInstaller --uid option
Stopping Old Vm manager
Connect to the new one.
Discover my server.
Result : My server is correctly discovered , all the VMs related to him seen (Orphan and without correct configuration)
But i'm not able to access the repositorie located on the local disk of the server.
Is there any step that i missed to complete my move ?
Thanks for any clue
Regards

Today after a complete rediscover of the server
The repositorie is seen
After a refresh , the contents was seen , and all my ORPHAN names were resolved.
Don't understand why it works today and not yesterday. Little trick i've done ,is with my old VM Manager  to unowed (implicitely unpresent it ) repositorie (with all my VMs down) ,  and then retake owner ship and represent it to my server pool. Then shiutdown old vm manager , restart new one, rediscover server and it's OK.
So maybe this could be had to documentation or in a MOS note. Will add a comment if i had to retry this on the future.
Trace there the log contents when everything is fine :

  • How to configure local disk on OVM Server as storage space to create VMs

    Hello,
We have installed OVM Server 3.1.1 on a machine that has 250 GB of Hard disk space [Single disk].
While installing used an option - Remove all partitions and create a new default partition layout.
Around 4GB has been used and remaining 246 GB is left as free space.
From OVM Manager - the server is discovered but didn't discovered the physical disk [i.e. remaining 246 GB raw disk space].
Can someone help me to understand how to use local disk as storage space for creating and running VM's.
    Thanks
    Srinivas

You can? You've used every conceivable BIOS out there? You must really be full of yourself. There is absolutely no BIOS that I know of that gives this basic function. BIOSs do not "hard partition" anything. A "BIOS" is not made for such things. Do you even know what "BIOS" stands for?
I wonder why there is some many wanting to do this and are having problems.... I mean if it is such a straight forward thing to do..... It must be down right "intuitive".
You maybe speaking of a RAID "BIOS" but you obviously think you're not. Some motherboards have integrated RAID abilities. Intel RST comes to mind... BUT this isn't a feature of a MOTHERBOARD BIOS.
I've got some $50,000 servers that will not break a single hard drive up into multiple logical drives..... Now, I haven't worked on a "Stinkpad" for many years. Don't want to. However, I have never seen one that would do what you're saying you're doing.
You maybe trying to help.... but you're leading people down a wrong path.
Its just as easy to run virtual box and use the virtual box templates for Oracle VM. In fact, its more practical if you want to run Oracle VM on a laptop for testing purposes than blowing everything away and attempting to setup different LUNS on a single hard drive.
    For your review...
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/articles/servers-storage-admin/configure-vm-templates-1656261.html
Although it's more reliable to use a separate location (such as an NFS share) for a storage repository, you can use a local disk of your Oracle VM Server instead, thus taking advantage of the local storage option. Beware, though: Oracle VM Server 3.0 doesn't allow you to utilize the unused space on the physical disk it's installed on. For local storage, you'll need at least one more physical disk. In other words, you'll need a total of two disks at minimum on your Oracle VM Server host if you want to use local storage. In practice, though, local storage is not a primary use case. The major downside to this approach is that local storage, by definition, cannot be shared between different servers.

  • "file not on the local disk" warning when it absolutely is

Using DreamweaverCC2014 for the first time. Working on an older MacPro running Yosemite.
I define a new site, specifying the directory in which my site's files are stored. The site has a single page, called index.htm, in the root directory, which has a link to a CSS stylesheet named "main.css" in a directory called "_css." The CSS file is contained within the directory, and appears in the Files tab of Dreamweaver as expected. The link to the stylesheet is properly formed on the index.htm page.
At the top left of the workspace, I see two buttons: one for "Source Code," which, when selected, displays the source code for the page I am working on. Next to it is a button that says "main.css," which SHOULD allow me to open up the CSS page and edit it. However, when I click this button, I get a caution icon, along with the message that says:
"'main.css' is not on the local disk."
Next to this is a link that says "Get," which I would assume, when clicked, would allow me to find and relink the stylesheet. However, such is not the case. Instead, I get an alert window that says:
"'main.css is not in a defined site"
When I look at the page in Live View, the styled sheet is not shown, rather just the unstyled sheet. Looking at it in a browser, however, does.
The code is correct; I have checked an re-checked it. The files are all in place and show up as expected in the Files panel. Any thoughts on why Dreamweaver thinks this CSS file doesn't exist?

As this issue was diminishing my confidence in using the software for a mission-critical project, I contacted Adobe technical support for assistance.
    This is a known issue.
The problem has to do with DW getting "confused" if there is any other file in the site root disk that may have the same name. In my case, there was (I tend to name the CSS files for my sites with the terribly generic "main" designation). The rep suggested that I create an entirely new site root, put my file structure into that, and see if the problem resolves. I did two things:
First, I installed a completely new installation of DWCC2014 on my MacPro laptop. No existing site files of any kind on that machine. I then created a new site, using a copy of my original troublesome site's file structure. So, with the exception of the fact that this is on a machine that has no other sites or files, I am repeating the test using the exact same files and folder structure. When I click the Source Code button, I see the HTML source code. And when I click the CSS button...the CSS file displays as expected!
Next experiment...back to my desktop MacPro. I copy the files for the site onto a completely different hard drive from the one I was using in my earlier failed attempt to get this to work. Again, same files and structure, only difference is the physical location of the files on a different hard drive. HTML source code displays, and, when the CSS button is clicked, the CSS page also displays as expected. Problem solved!
So, I hope that my experience (and the solution) is helpful in the event others encounter this same issue. Again, this is a known issue at Adobe, so chances are good one of you out there will have this problem. The solution is to place your files in a completely new site root apart from any other that might have similar file names, so as not to "confuse" DW.

  • How can I keep cursor stable when moving X scroll?

    Dear All,
How can I keep cursor stable in the graph when moving X scroll?
Normally, the cursor is moving while moving X scroll, because the X scroll changes.
    Thank you!

    Hi Hugo,
the cursor has it's x- and y-coordinate. If you move the x scroll-bar, the cursor moves too.
To avoid this you have to move the cursor with the x scroll bar. To do so you have to get the cursor position and the x-scale min/max before movement. While movement you have to calculate a new cursor position relativ to the new x-scale and set the cursor accordingly. (Problems may arise if the cursor is connected to a plot...)
That's what property nodes are used for!

  • How to overwrite ratings and keywords when moving files?

I have just edited a number of photos on my computer by adding ratings and keywords.  I tried to export them to an external hard drive, so I could free up space on my computer, but I discovered that copies of those photos already existed on the external HD.  I selected the "overwrite" option, but the ratings and keywords didn't copy over from the computer versions to the hard drive versions.  Is there a way of doing that?
    Thanks!

I detect a lot of confusion here.
Originally, you want to move a photo to your external HD to free up space on your computer's internal HD. That's what you said.
Then later, you said that your backups are on your external HD.
So, if you are successful at moving photos from your internal HD to your external HD (however you do it), then you no longer have backups of those photos. This is not a good thing. Now, you have only ONE copy of these moved photos (you used to have two). Furthermore, when your external HD fails (and it will), now you have ZERO copies of these photos. ZERO copies is not good. ZERO copies is bad. You are living dangerously.
You need to address this issue, most likely by purchasing more disk space, and then beginning regular, automatic backups so that you always have two copies of each photo, one copy on each of two physically distinct drives.
Next source of confusion ... you seem to be implying that copies of photos on both hard drives are cataloged in Lightroom. This seems unnecessary and a way to cause confusion. I wouldn't do things this way.

I have two lines. Line 2 sits on line 1, a fraction above. When I select line 2 and press the down arrow key, it jumps so that line 2 is now a fraction below line one. I cannot get the lines to sit perfectly onto of one another.
I have tried to move the line using the mouse, but it snaps to the same position as the keyboard press.
I have turn off snap to grid, snap to point, all the guides, smart guides.
Has anybody come across this problem? Any boady know how to fix this?
    Kind regards

    thomo,
You should be able to snap if you use Smart Guides (alone) and move Line 2 with the mouse/stylus.

  • How to retrieve functions inadvertently lost when solving another problem?

In solving one problem, I have inadvertently caused a couple of others.  I reset or refreshed my phone to an  earlier state, incorrectly assuming I had to do so so correct a loss of ring tone. But, in doing so I lost a couple of other features I now wish to restore: 1. The battery charge indicator in the upper right hand corner used to show the correct percentage in numbers of available battery power, as well as the little batter icon, but the percentage numbers have now disappeared, and I would like to retore them; 2. I have lost one of the weather stations for another state that I would like restored, but don't know how to do so.  Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

    1. Settings > General > Usage > Battery Percentage > Toggle On
    2. Launch weather app and tap the info button in the lower right corner and the the + in the top left corner to add a different city
If your second question wasn't about the weather app please advise and I'll try and help.

  • Question regarding the itunes library files when moving itunes library from 1 hard drive to another.

My itunes library had out grown my 2TB drive (I'm a bit of a podcast addict) so I got a 4TB drive to replace it but for some reason my Mac Pro started to act up and eventually apps became crippled to where they would not open.
So I had no choice but to go back to my 2TB drive for my boot drive for now but my itunes library is now slightly larger than the 2TB drive and won't fit so with my previous 4TB drive connected via a hard drive dock I followed the instructions to move my itunes library to a secondary 4TB drive in my mac pro and that went fine the one thing I noticed is in the article it says not to move the 2 library files but now my itunes media is on a internal drive and the 2 library files are on the hard drive connected to my mac pro via the dock so if I was to remove the drive from the dock the 2 library files would no longer be accessable and my itunes library would not be able to be found even though the media in on one of my internal drives.
Anyone know how I can rectify this issue?

Does this article help: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305451 ?

  • When moving my iphone from one computer to another, the apps do not follow and if I purchase an app on the new computer, it seems that all previous apps on the iphone will be lost   How do I import the previous apps to the new computer?

When moving my iphone from one itunes computer to another, the apps installed on the original computer do not show on the new one.  How do I get those apps to be recognized on the new computer without deleting them all from my iphone as it asks.

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data.

  • [Exchange 2013/Online][PS] How to retrieve existing remote PowerShell sessions

I'm trying to figure out how to retrieve all existing remote PowerShell sessions (user-managed) between a client and an Exchange 2013 server.
Running Get-PSSession only returns remote sessions created within the current PowerShell session (system-managed). I need to do this from within a
different PowerShell session, possibly even from a different computer from where those remote sessions were established.
Documentation for Get-PSSession states that this should be possible starting with PS 3.0 since user-managed sessions are now stored locally on the remote server (in my case, the Exchange 2013 server) and can later be retrieved from any system-managed session
by using Get-PSSession with either the ComputerName or ConnectionUri parameter sets.
Here's how those remote sessions are created:
    PS $> $Session = New-PSSession -ConfigurationName Microsoft.Exchange -ConnectionUri https://<exchange_server>/powershell/ -Credential $credential -Authentication Basic -AllowRedirection
    PS $> Import-PSSession $Session
And how I try to retrieve those session afterward:
PS $> Get-PSSession -ComputerName <exchange_server> -ApplicationName powershell -Authentication Basic -Credential $credential -UseSSL -Port 443
PS $> Get-PSSession -ConnectionUri https://<exchange_server>/powershell/ -AllowRedirection -Authentication Basic -Credential $credential
Both methods yield no results (nor errors), while running Get-PSSession (without any parameters) within the same user-managed session would successfully return the session.
The only explanation I could think of right now is that somehow, WinRM on the Exchange server is not running PS 3.0 even though:
    $PSVersionTable.PSVersion returns 3 0 -1 -1
winrm id returns ProductVersion = OS: 6.2.9200 SP: 0.0
    Stack: 3.0
But when I attempt to disconnect a remote session with this Exchange server using Disconnect-PSSession, I get the
    following error message:
Disconnect-PSSession : Disconnect-PSSession operation failed for runspace Id = XXXXX
for the following reason: The disconnection operation is not supported on the remote computer. To support
disconnecting, the remote computer must be running Windows PowerShell 3.0 or a later version of Windows PowerShell.
So I guess I have a couple questions:
Are remote PSSession even supposed to be maintained on
    an Exchange 2013 server?
If so, is it possible to retrieve them from a different session using GET-PSSession?
Which version of PS 3.0 is used by WinRM on an Exchange 2013 server?
    thanks

    Thanks for your help.
    1. I know that remote PS sessions are supported, I have no issue connecting to the Exchange server. The issue is with
reconnecting to an existing PS session.
    2. As mentioned in my original post, PS & WinRM 3.0 are installed on the client:
    $PSVersionTable.PSVersion returns 3
    0 -1 -1
    winrm
id returns ProductVersion = OS: 6.2.9200 SP: 0.0 Stack:
    3.0

  • Windows 8.1 : Windows explorer show DVD drive as local disk

I have windows 8.1. On windows explorer , the DVD-ROM Drive icon is displayed as a Local disk. When I double click on that icon I get a strange error message :
An error occurred while ejecting "*,"
On Device manager , on disk management , everything is ok and the drive has the correct type : DVD-ROM Drive".
    What should I do ?

    1. Ensure the drives are properly recognized on the BIOS.
    2.
Proceed to back your information and do a clean installation of the Operating System using the latest drivers from our website since this seems to be an Operating System instead of a hardware failure.
    3. Test with a different DVD driver to narrow the issue properly.
    4. Remove the RTC (Real Time Clock) battery and leave it out for 30 minutes.  After this
period of time, insert the battery back in and turn the system back on; if it displays POST messages, go into BIOS Setup Utility by pressing <F2> during the boot process.  Once in the BIOS setup utility, press <F9> to restore BIOS default
settings.  Reset any customized BIOS settings. Clear all DMI event logs, which are located in the Advanced/Event Log Configuration section of the BIOS Setup utility.  Press <F10> to save the new settings and reboot the system.
