How to retrieve message history on iMac

I noticed that when I switched on my iMac, previous messages handled by iPhone and iPad didn't show up. Does anyone know how to retrieve (synchronise) history?

    Does anyone know how to retrieve messages that haven't been backed up

    Even if you haven't backed up your iPhone manually, there is still possibility that your iPhone was automatically backed up with iTunes or iCloud. Every time you sync your iPhone with iTunes, iTunes will create a backup of your iPhone automatically. If you have enabled iCloud, every time your iPhone is connected to Wifi and a power source, and the screen is locked, iCloud will automatically back up your iPhone files. So try to restore your iPhone with iTunes or iCloud backups if you find backup files and you are sure that the lost messages are included, see the guide:

  • How to transfer Messages history from Mavericks to Yosemite clean install

    I would like to do a clean install of Yosemite on my MacBook, but retain all of my Messages history and attachments from my current Mavericks install. Is this possible? What files do I need to copy from the Mavericks install (before I wipe the HD) and where do I need to put them after I install Yosemite (cleanly)? Anything else I need to do after copying them?
    Thanks!

    I managed to finally get mine to work, but not after a bit of trouble and losing new messages since my time machine back up (about a days worth since my backup replaced my current. I backed up and upgraded last night, and I figured out how to restore messages this morning, so anything in between that I got on my phone was lost. no big deal).
    Much of the below is from other discussions, so I don't want to take credit for it, but wanted to make it easy for you, and there was one small change.
    First make sure you can see hidden files by opening terminal and inputting: defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles YES
    QUIT YOUR MESSAGES APP
    Replace the following files from your backup to your current clean install. Pretty much all the files should be in the same spot, except for one folder that I'll explain further below.
    Same File path
    /users/<name>/Library/Messages-------> /users/<name>/Library/Messages/ this folder should include 4 files:
    chat.db
    chat.db-shm
    chat.db-wal
    the folder "Attachments"
    /users/<name>/Library/Preferences----> /users/<name>/Library/Preferencescopy any file that includes iChat or Messages in the .plist
    Different File pathI am not sure if this matters, but it's something I noticed when I got a message in my clean install before trying to restore my history. In Yosemite, I noticed that that "Attachments" and "Archive" folder are both in /users/<name>/Library/Messages, whereas  in Mavericks, the "Attachments" folder is in that file path, but the "Archive" folder is located in /users/<name>Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/iMessages/Archive, and within this same folder there is a shortcut to the Attachments folder. (I'm not sure if this matters, but this worked for me). I hope I didn't confuse you there!
    /users/<name>/Library/Containers/com.apple.iChat/Data/Library/Messages/Archive-------> /users/<name>/Library/Messages/
    Restart your computer
    Open Messages and it will rebuild your database.
    Ta da!

  • How to Retrieve Messages from Function Module 'CM_F_MESSAGE'

    I have a custom program that first calls function module CM_F_INITIALIZE to make sure that pop-ups are not displayed on screen. This program then performs a subroutine that also calls function CM_F_MESSAGE. How do I retrieve the messages so I can output it as 1 big list on screen?
    Thanks in advance!

    The subroutine calls the function CM_F_MESSAGE to display message.
    you can declare one internal table in your program and populate the message details in this internal table.
    At the end while displaying data, display the content of this internal table as messages populated during the process.

  • How to retrieve message structure name of an incoming XI message?

    Hi,
    Is it possible to reveal the message structure name of an XI message, that is send through a proxy?
    Background:
    I have a ABAP proxy that passes a XSD message from XI to the Mobile Middleware. I need the name of the that message structure in order to generate Mobile Business Objects from it.
    There should be an API available for that.
    I would appreciate your help.

    Hi Lucas (says Lucas),
    After a little digging and trying out things I have found the solution.
    The Advanced Components palette available in the Mapping Editor has a section Mediator Functions. The getProperty() function shown there can be used to extract header properties. The property I am after is called jca.file.FileName, and can be assigned in the XSLT document like this:
    <ns2:filename>
    <xsl:value-of select="mhdr:getProperty('in.property.jca.file.FileName')"/>
    </ns2:filename>
    Note that the Assign Values dialog that is available in the Mediator editor has a long list of many names of properties that are available, including jca.file.Directory and jca.file.Size as well as many properties for the AQ, BPEL and EBS adapters.
    hope this helps any one besides myself.
    bye for now,
    Lucas

  • How to retrieve messages on iMessage after changing apple ID?

    I had to delete the email account that was associated with my Apple ID, so I changed my Apple ID, but all my previous messages on iMessage disappeared.  Is there a way I can access these from my Apple account?  I was receiving messages on an iPad.

    If you created a new apple id then its not the same account.
    If all you did was change an email address associated with it, then thats different. You should be able to access messages as before.

  • Retrieving messages from land line

    hi! does anyone know how to retrieve messages on the new iphone from your land line so you don't eat up your cel minutes?

    I believe your question is to dial your voicemail system from your landline.  If this is right, you can do so by calling you 10-digit mobile number from the landline (basically call yourself). Don't answer, and when the voicemail recording comes on, press #.  You will then be prompted to enter your voicemail password. Go ahead and do so, and press # again.  Once you do this, you will be able to control your voicemail from any phone including your landline.
    Format: Call yourself> # Voicemail Password#
    I hope that answers your question. Let us know if you have any others.
