i interview people with ipod using the voice memo function. then i play back and transcribe bit by bit. sometimes i mishear a sentence and need to rewind like one sentence, but it seems i can only rewind to the start. is it possible to go back--or forward for than matter--a little bit at a time? i'm using a 20 gig Ipod with color display (that's how i've been told by apple tech how to describe it)

You may have better luck dumping those to computer and using an application that includes the ability to scrub.

HT4859 When I tried to restore my new iPhone all I got was my contacts, all of my images and voice memos are gone. I was backing up via wi-fi at home to the iCloud. How can I retrieve the images and voice memos?

The voice memos, in particular, are important as they contain several conversations I had with my, now decieced, grandmother. I was under the mistaken impression that everything was being backed up nightly when I was connected to wi-fi at home and plugged in to a charger.

You could try restoring the backup again. Sometimes people have more success the second time.

How do I sync voice memos and notes?

I use windows and will never use a MAC as I hate them and only like apples Iphone. I have an Iphone 5 and use version 11.0.2.26 of itunes. I had an older Iphone 4g with lots of voice memos on it and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get itunes to sync the voice memos onto it and then put them onto my new phone. Can anyone let me know how to do this? Thanks.

You must have a supported program on your computer to sync with (such as Outlook or mac iCal). The list of supported programs is shown in this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296.

If iCloud Backup on; Voice Memos stuck.

Hello Apple People,
Some of my voice memos seem to be stuck.
Seems like they get unstuck if I have iCloud Backup turned off...
For example, if I turn off iCloud backup, then create a voice memo, that latest voice memo will be synced.
However, voice memos created with iCloud Backup on do not get synced into iTunes > iTunes Media > Voice Memos folder.
There is approximately a 20 file gap when I compare the iTunes > iTunes Media > Voice Memos folder to Voice Memos app on my device.
On my own I've tried the following:
Tech Recipies: Voice Memos iPhone to Computer
- Unplug iphone from the computer after the failed sync
- In iTunes, select File –> Library –> Organize Library –> Consolidate files
- Plug in the iphone & sync again
Deleting iTunes Library Files
Creating Alternate/New iTunes Folder
Uninstall/Reinstall iTunes
Recreating iTunes Library
My Device is iPhone 4
Version 5.1.1
PC, Windows Xp
Any ideas on how I can get ALL of the Voice Memos onto my Computer?

It only means that you will then automatically be backing up to iCloud instead of automatically backing up to your computer when you sync. No other syncing functions are effected.
Even if you are backing up to iCloud, you can always perform a manual backup to your computer in iTunes by going to the Summary tab of your iTunes sync settings and clicking Back Up Now under Manually Back Up and Restore.

Questions about using the Voice Memos app

I'm currently an Android user, but will be getting an iPhone 6 soon. My most used app is the voice memos app on my Android phone. I have a couple questions about the iPhone's built-in voice memos app.
-Am I able to transfer my voice memos from my Android phone to my iPhone, so my recordings from my Android app will show up in the iPhone's voice memos app?
-When exporting voice memos from the iPhone to computer, are recordings in MP3 format? If not, what format are they in?
-In your opinion, how is the recording quality of the voice memos app?

You cannot import your Android voice memos to your iPhone's voice memo app. You might be able to play the Android memos and have the iPhone pick up the audio and record it.

last night i installed ios6 and today i recorded 2 lectures each of them around 2 hours, but i cant play them, it is the first time this happens. before ios6 i used to do the same and i was able to play my voice memos, i still can paly my old voice memos from before ios6, anyone knows how can i play my 2 new voice memos? have an exam this monday raelly need them.

You should try resetting your settings. This won't erase any data, but will put many settings back to their default states, like passcode, wallpaper, Wi-Fi settings, etc. If Siri still does not work, I suggest that you make a trip to an Apple Store's Genius Bar. Hope this helps!

There's a brightness control in Settings. The yellow tinge occurs with some phones; if it were mine I would take it back to the Apple store and get it replaced, but some people say it fades with time as the glue cures.

Try pressing the Escape key once to get out of the full screen mode,
then taking your cursor and grabbing one of the corners of your Safari screen to set it to the size you want.

Unless Apple determines this is a hardware defect or they make an exception if caused by accidental damage, Apple will not help you as in exchanging or repairing the iPad for free.

Seems like there is some physical damage causing an intermittent issue of the iPhone being unable to power on.
You could try a reset:
- hold the home button and sleep/wake button down at the same time
- the iphone will turn off(keep holding) then when the Apple logo appears release both buttons
If the reset fails I would suggest next time it powers on to try and back it up to either iTunes/iCloud then you can try a restore to factory settings or just back up and book an appointment at an Apple Store to have the iPhone evaluated.

Footage fades a little bit half way through interview, how do I fix?

I'm working on a Doc that has interviews with Celebrities, one of the interviews is with Linda Evans and about half way through the interview the lighting fades a little bit. It's just a gradual fade, happens over 10-15 frames, but it wasn't me that did it. Perhaps the camera man changed the Aperture or someone dimmed the lights. Either way, it's noticeable and I was tasked with fixing it. Ugh!

Anyway possible to do some sort of correction using FCP to fix it or am I pretty well up the creek? Any advice would be *huge* as this is a major project and will be playing on the PBS channel KLCS in LA this Spring so I'm going all out on this one. Thanks in advance!

APply the 'brightness and contrast' filter to the clip. then go into the clip and you should be able to keyframe the filter. (I don't have my mac in front of me to verify, sorry)
Another way is to use the blade to cut the clip right where it starts to fade. APply the brightness and contrast filter to the darker part, brighten it up a bit and if you fiddle just right you can adjust the brightness seamlessly.
Another cheaters way could be to cut to any B roll or another angle during the fade. Depending on how dramatic it is people may not even notice the difference, or you can make any alterations and they won't see them because they won't be able to remember just how bright it was before.
