How to run the paper layout & web layout?

Hi,
I have 10gR2 application server (Linux). A report was created in Reports 6i, now i opened the same in 10g and compiled in my local machine(development pc with windows xp).
question 1
In the development pc, i can run the paper layout but the same cant in web layout.
1. How to run the weblayout?
question 2
Now my application is running in&as web enabled. A menu calling a report ,that i want to run as paper layout, is it possible in web enable mode? Otherwise i have to run as web layout.
please guide me.
Kanish

Thanks for the advice.
I am trying to run any iViews that connect to the R/3 back end.  I have read that you have to first connect to the SLD, and then set up the JCO connections.  Correct?
I have got the SLD running, but I can't connect to it.  I have supplied the required SLD Data Supplier information in the Content Administrator.
In the Visual Administrator, under the SLD Data Supplier, I enter the Host, Port, User, and Password, but when I hit the Trigger Data button I get an error saying "Operation Failed!  Failed to collect SLD data.  Failed to send HTTP data: 401: Unauthorized.  Please check if the target SLD system is available and the SLD bridge is started there."
Any help?

  • How to run a report as Web Layout

I've just created a simple report and I've run it as Paper Layout. All works well.
If I try to run it as Web Layout, it waits for a while and then nothing happens.
As for Oracle Form I've never had such problems, so when I run a form, soon the form gets on the default browser.
For Oracle Reports do I have to set anything particular? Why doesn't the report open automatically when I run it as Web Layout?
    Thanks in advance

What is your Reports version and what is the default browser? E.g. Developer 10g does not work with Firefox (see note 419414.1).

  • Run 10g Report in Web Layout

    Hi,
I am using Report Builder:10.1.2.0.2 installed on Windows XP (Service Pack 3) and developed simple report. We are using Oracle E-Business Suite R12 and developed report by connecting to the EBS database.
I have created "Data Model" and designed "Paper Layout". After compiling the report when i tried to run report using "Paper Layout" report generates the report in Paper layout but similarly if i try to to run the report using "Web Layout" then it opens blank Internet Explorer page. I want to see same output with Paper Layout is displaying using Web Layout too. Please guide me with steps i need to perform to achieve the requirement..
    Regards,
    Priyanka

    Hello,
The web layout (that is, the web source) is primarily used for the .jsp format for added flexibility via the web for web developers using Oracle Reports.
You will need to add your own code to the "Web Source" in order for anything to be displayed in the web layout. Additionally, any changes made to the Paper Layout will not cross over to the Web Layout per confirmation with Development. You may use the rw:include tag in the Web Source (see Help) to obtain some of the paper layout in your web layout.
Having a rdf file with only a paper layout, does not mean that this report when run will not display in a web page.
You can still perform the following with Oracle Reports 9i or higher and use the .rdf to display the paper layout from the web:
    http//webserver.domain:7779/reports/rwservlet?report=you_report.rdf&destype=cache&desformat=html&userid=scott/tiger@db
    Kind regards,
    Alex

  • Paper layout & web layout

This might be a novice questin but still..
With 9i reports, we are only going to deploy our reports to the web, and there are going to be no client server reports..
In that context, the only layout we are going to be worried about is the web layout, I dont understant why there are two kinds of layouts i.e. PAPER LAYOUT AND WEB LAYOUT
what is the difference between the two, when should we use the paper and web layout.

    Hi,
There are 2 things here: the Q about deploying reports to the web, and the Q about paper and web layout. Let me explain each one.
Q about paper and web layouts
Paper layout is the layout you need to create "printable" reports. This layout is the same that you saw in 6i - with frames, repeating frames, fields, boilerplate objects and so on. This layout has the concept of a "page-wise" report. Once you create this layout (paper layout), you can get your report output in various formats, eg, PDF, RTF, HTML, HTMLCSS etc.
On the other hand, web layout means that in place of (or in addition to) the paper layout, you get the report designed in JSP code. So all the frames, repeating frames etc will be expressed in JSP code using the Oracle Reports custom tags. Since it is code-based, you can insert your HTML or Java code in here to customize the output. You can in fact start with the HTML template, open it in reports builder, and start inserting the data using Reports custom JSP tags. In web layout, there are no "page breaks". So your report will be a JSP file, and can be deployed along with your J2EE application.
Now the Q about deploying to the web.
BOTH paper and web layouts are compatible with the web architecture. You will call a paper report from your browser with a command like:
    http://my_machine_name:port_number/reports/rwservlet?report=...server=...userid=...destype=...desformat=...
And for accessing the web layout, you will deploy the JSP on a J2EE containser (like OC4J), and access it like:
    http://my_machine_name:port_number/application_context_root/My_jsp_report.JSP?server=...userid=...
There is no destype, desformat or desname (because the output is only displayed on your browser).
So using 9i Reports builder, if you want to save the report's paper layout ONLY, you save it as an RDF file. In case you want to store ONLY web or BOTH paper and web layouts, you save the report definition as JSP.

I currently run the Design and Web Premium CS6 on a first generation MacBook Air and want to buy a new MacBook Pro. How do I know whether I can install my Adobe programs onto the new computer? Because I know there is some kind of limit.
Also, I had to install the software twice on my same computer before because I had to reboot the computer. I don't know if this affects the limit.

You are allowed to have two activated installations so there should not be a problem having working installations on the two machines.  If by chance you have somehow tied up two activations for the one machine you can have Adobe support help resolve that thru chat.

can any expline the steps how to do it?
    thanks

No, you need the Reports Server (as part of the Application Server or Weblogic, depending on your version).
I try to save the report, it's saved as .jspThat depends. You can save it as a .rdf file too (so called Paper Layout). I think this option is used more often.

  • How to run the form that is only installed on a PC and not using a server?

    Hi
I am new to Oracle and have taken the forms class. But I do not understand how to run the form from my PC using XP windows. (Do not have access to a server).
I have started the OC4J, made sure the listener was started, compiled the form and then when I run it, it automatically goes to the HTTP:
    ERROR: res://ieframe.dll/acr_depnx_error.htm#,http://kevin:8889/forms/frmservle
I connected to the database correctly. I can process a report and it does nor try to access the internet. My only issue is running the form. I verified it compiled.
Sorry for a basic question. Could someone please help, I tried reviewing other questions, but not sure if they are connecting to a server or not.
I see webutil but is it required if I don't have a server? Thank you in advance.

Regardless of the version, it appears that you may not have configured the Builder. Do the following:
    1. Open the Builder
    2. From the menu, select Edit > Preferences > Runtime
    3. In the box labeled "Application Server URL:", enter a local URL needed to run a form OR click the button labeled "Reset to Default". If you decide to manually enter a value, it would looks something like this:
    http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet
    4. In the field labeled "Web Browser Location:", enter the path and executable to your preferred browser. So for example if IE is your browser of choice the entry would most likely look like this:
    C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE
    5. Click on OK and retest.
By the way, you can manually enter a URL in the browser. Clicking the RunForm button from the Builder is strictly optional. To run the "test" form directly from the browser enter the following into the browser's address field:
    http://localhost:8889/forms/frmservlet?form=test

  • How to change the paper type in printer settings?

Does anyone know how to change the paper type in printer settings?  I'm trying to have the ability to change it to photo paper from Photoshop Elements.  I can't find the option in printer settings or through Elements.  I'm assuming I could save an additional printer setting for photo printing, but can't find how to even select a different paper type.
    thanks!

It would help to know which OS you are running as the answer will be different if it's Lion or the previous OS's. You are not running iOS 5.0.1 on your MacBook Pro so provide the correct information.

  • How to Run the NEW "System Info Command" in Tiger ?????

I am new to Applescript and was wondering if someone could help me on how to run the new "System Info Command"?
    Thanks!!!

The "system info" command that red_menace uses above is the new system info command that's mentioned on the web page you referenced. However, red's example only displays the "long user name" and the "AppleScript version" in the dialog.
The entire system info record actually contains all of these items, each of which you can access just like red_menace shows you in his example:
    AppleScript version
    AppleScript Studio version
    system version
    short user name
    long user name
    user ID
    user locale
    home directory
    boot volume
    computer name
    host name
    IPv4 address
    primary Ethernet address
    CPU type
    CPU speed
    physical memory
    Steve
PS - if you switch Script Editor over so the bottom pane displays the "Event Log" you'll see the entire system info record displayed in the log when you run red_menace's script.

If this app. is normally hosted on wwwgate0.mot.com then it can 'phone home' to the server without further permission, but if you are running it from the command line, that might not be the codebase anymore.
If you wish to do 'local testing' of such an app., I would recommend setting up a server like Tomcat on the local machine, and serving the test app. directly off that.

You do have a very complex looking site and may need several tables in mysql to handle all that data. If you knew to phpmysql I would suggest taking a look at this tutorial it will help get you started in understanding how to $_GET info from a database and also how to $_POST data to a database. I am no expert just learning myself and I found this very helpful. This is the link http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/first_dynamic_site_pt1.html
There are also many tutorials on Youtube to help build a CMS Content Management Site I would suggest the following: -
    http://www.youtube.com/user/phpacademy
    http://www.youtube.com/user/betterphp
    http://www.youtube.com/user/flashbuilding
And many more on my channel here

CMS's are easier to maintain, add edit and delete content.
I have also recently bought a Book by David Powers Training from the Source very helpful.
Anyway hope you get it sorted.

  • How to run default transactions in WEB UI

    Hi all,
Can somebody help me on how ti run the default WEb pages for transaction like BP, CRMD_ORDER . I am new to CRM 2007 and don't know where to find the htm pages to run. ( I guess URL should contain the server:prot_id/<directory> )
    Cheers
    Ravi

    Hi Ravi,
I'm not sure, if I understood your question correctly, but if you want to view the new web ui, the following URL is what you're looking for:
    http://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/crm_ui_frame/default.htm?sap-client=100&sap-sessioncmd=open
Your user needs to be assigned to at least one business role (SAP_CRM_UIU*) to be able to access the corresponding workplace.
For BSP applications the URL is:
    http://<host>:<port>/sap/bc/bsp/sap/crm_bsp_frame/select.htm
    Hope this helps.
    Kind regards,
    Martina
