How to save Tab Groups in FF5?

The Tab Groups in FF5 seems to be a good feature. But there is no obvious way to save them. I am looking forward for it to replace the two instances currently I use to handle multiple groups.

See:[http://support.mozilla.com/nl/questions/795591?s=save+tabgroups&as=s this thread]
It's not really a feature of tab groups. I wish tab groups was more like foxtab, with more permanent groups. A kind of visual bookmarks and history.
I guess you could make bookmark folders with all your tabs and turn those into a tab group each time you use it. Not ideal, but it will work.

  • How to save Tab groups for later browsing

    Can tab groups be saved so that when I launch Firefox next time all previous tabs will be there ?

    Identical to others, I do not want to reload all tab groups on restart; however, I strongly desire the ability to save tab groups (beyond just naming & resuming from previous session). My use case is simple. I reboot, switching from Ubuntu to Windows and back multiple times per day on my laptop. I work on multiple projects and would like to associate tab groups with each one. Then I would like to click a button/link, (perhaps in the Ctrl-Shift-E -- Tab Group View) to restore a specific tab group for a project without having to load the 28 other pages which are relevant to other projects... Essentially, I want to bookmark a tabgroup. I would be willing to contribute coding time to this feature, but am unsure as to where to start.

  • Why can't I save Tab Groups from one session to the next? When I restart, tab groups are cleared.

    Why can't I save Tab Groups from one session to the next? Is there a way to save Tab Groups from the last session to the next time I start up?

    Yeah, if this is the way it's supposed to work its a useless and, dare I say, stupid "feature". Wouldn't the whole point of this be to have quick access to groups of pages. If I have to select them each time to create the group what is it doing for me?

  • How do I **save** tab groups (or import/export them)?

    I needed to restart FF5 after installing some add-ons and when FF restarted, I was dismayed to find that my tab groups were gone!
    Is there a way to save my tab groups so that I can reload them after restarting FF? it would be better if FF simply "remembers" what tab groups were created and reinstated them after a restart.
    I LOVE tab groups as a way to organize all of the myriad tabs I fins myself opening as I venture off on a quest for knowledge. TG's can be made even better if there was a way to save, export, and import them (IMHO).

    I finally found out how to save my tabgroups! :) Simple, you have to choose exit in archive and NOT press the closebutton (X) up in the corner. Simsalabim, all the groups remains!! :D
    It's simple once you know the answer...

  • How do I SAVE tab groups. They have disappeared when I next open Firefox

    I created 5 tab groups. it was great flicking between them but I closed my machine and when I opened again they had gone.

    Which boxes are currently ticked in Clear Recent History?
    *Tools > Options > Privacy : History: [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
    Clear Recent History is not enabled by default, so if it is now then you or an extension did enable that.<br />
    If you want to keep using it then you only need to make sure that the "Browsing History" don't have a tick to prevent App Tabs from being removed (App Tabs are considered as history because you visit sites).

  • How do I save Tab Group that i have created? So that everytime I open Firefox, it will be there for me rather than I have to re-create again.

    I have homepage with multiple sites. I like you Tab Groups which enable me to group those sites under particular group. However, I found that the group were gone when i close and open back Firefox.

    You can open it back in "about:home" just click "Restore Previous Session" and you will get your group tab back.

  • Can't create app tab groups in FF5 groups window dosen't appear

    when I click the tab groups arrow on the upper right of the page the group window opens but all the tiny icons are in a vertical line on the right side of the window and when I try to drag one in to the center either the cursor turns into a move window and moves the whole window or when I click on the icon it takes me to that page. I have read ALL the instructions AND watched the video and what happens in that video DOES NOT happen on my screen. I can't find any helpful info

    Solution clear all tabs. Then right click on individual bookmarks or bookmark folders and select open in new tab or open. They will all appear at top of screen. Then click on arrow as before and choose tab groups . They are all in one box you then move them out of box and put like with like. I have created 3 groups.
    You can create as many as you like .
    When you wish to open that group click on the arrow and then choose tab groups,at that point all of your groups appear choose the one you require click on that group .
    Only the sights in that group appear on the tab bar. I trust this is helpful it worked for me.

  • How can I disable tab groups?

    Please tell me how to disable tab groups? I don't want this feature, I'd like to return to old individual tabs, which are not hiding

    Don't use them. If you have created a tab group then delete that group.

  • Tabs: previous versions allowed for saving all tabs in a bookmark folder. The new tab groups do not behave this way. How can I save permanent set of tabs as a group that is available later, like the folder of bookmars was?

    tabs: previous versions of firefox allowed for saving all tabs with a group name, so you could open them all again later at your convenience. The new firefox 4.0.1 has a new tab feature, but the tab groups do not seem to persist once you shut down, and are not saved as a folder in your bookmarks. What am I missing? How can I do what I want (save permanent set of tabs as a group that is available later, like the folder of bookmarks was)? Thanks

    Right click one of the tabs, the "Bookmark all tabs..." option.
    Does it do what you want?

  • How do I save or restore all of my tab groups (preferably 1 operation)?

    I would like to save all of my tab groups, both for backup purposes but also for migration to another computer. How can I do this as a single operation?
    The same consideration would apply to restoring all the tab groups from a previously saved session.
    Eric

    App tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_Restore
    You can make a backup copy of that file.

  • Just upgraded to lateste verison of Firefox and started using the Tab groups. Like them, but noticed that Save all bookmarks is now gone. How do I save all my bookmark stored inside the tab groups?

    I am using Firefox 6.0 (and still using windows XP ). I have a habit of opening tons of tabs and the new Tab group feature seems perfect for me. But I couldn't find anywhere to save all my tabs as the Save all bookmarks is now gone. How do I save all my bookmarks stored inside the tab groups?
    thanks

    I had to restart firefox because of an update and I saved all my tabs and when I restarted firefox it has lost all of my saved bookmarks...won't be using the new tab groups again..very disappointed

  • How to save groups-tabs for next time use?

    I make some groups-tab by function of sites , like Email-group, News –group. If close FF beta 9, and option of startup is “show a blank page ” or “show my home page”, these groups were not be saved. If startup is “show my windows and tabs from last time”, all tabs of all groups will be opened, but they are own group.
    There is some options, when I startup FF, only show groups, so I can choose which page in particular group I want open?

    As you are using the new firefox 4 beta you may be interested in what is now a new default feature:
    * see [[What is Panorama?]]
    Many of the bookmark & home features are also the same or very similar to the previous version firefox 3.6. You can set a number of tabs to open as the home page, or you can set firefox to open with the previously open tabs.
    * see [[How to set the home page]]
    You may also save tabs in folder groups, if for instance you save those on the bookmarks toolbar, each would give you the option to open individual tabs from that folder or the whole folder. (You are permitted to nest folders, in several levels if it helps )
    See also
    * [[Bookmark folders]]
    * [[Bookmarks]] & [[Bookmarks toolbar]]
    Remember you have the choice to create and name folders as you like, and to a large extent put the folders wherever is convenient for the way you would like to work.
    Note one difference between the versions is that the bookmarks Library
    *Bookmarks -> Organise bookmarks
    *has now become Bookmarks -> Show all bookmarks

  • How do I save or set default Tab Groups?

    There are many questions like this already, but non for the actual FF4 release.
    When I close FF4 I lose all my tab groups.
    If I tell FF to open previously opened tabs, it saves the tabs & tab groups of the '''most recently closed FF4 window'''. This means that if I have 2 FF windows open and I close the one that has all of my favorite tabs, I've just lost everything.
    I'm sure there is a setting somewhere to "bake" or set basic tab groups. (perhaps a folder that I could bookmark my defaults to?)
    I really don't want to have to install an add on to make tab groups useful.

    App tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file sessionstore.js in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]

  • How to save the tab app and group tabs ?

    The Tab App and Group Tab are nice ideas but tend dissappear physicalky.
    I do not understand when then dissappear and when not.

    Does restoring tabs work or is that failing as well?
    *Firefox > Preferences > General > Startup: When Firefox Starts: Show my windows and tabs from last time
    You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox Profile Folder that store session data.
    Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).
