How to set black and white only on Photosmart Plus B210a

I just buy my HP Photosmart Plus B210a at staples on 25. Usually I will just print some word documents，I want to set to use black and white only (black ink only), but can't find it.

If you find that the option to print in grayscale isn't available with AirPrint then I suggest you check out HP's ePrint app. It gives you the options to print 'Color, 'Grayscale', or 'Black Only'.

Just installed a new printer and would like to set it up so that the default print option is black and white only. How do I do this?

Not sure which post you are responding to since you replied to yourself
Every printer is a little different so you may have to do some searching through the settings. I don't have an HP Photosmart C6100 here so I can't say for sure where the setting is for that printer.
The closest thing I have to that model printer here is an HP OfficeJet 6310
In that model you choose Paper Type/Quality
In drop down menu under Color you select Gray Scale
Then you can still save the preset as I described in my previous post.
If the C6100 is different than that you may just have to search through option pages and explore the drop down selections.
Which I could be more specific, but they are all a little different.

First, here is how to make sure you are changing the black only settings; In the software program that you are trying to print from, click File, and then click Print. (or Command+P)I have put a red box around the drop down in the image below, from this menu you want to choose Paper Type/QualityIn the Paper Type/Quality tab, click Color Options, (usually you have to click the little arrow, again outlined in red on the image)If you want color printouts, make sure that Greyscale is selectedChange the Greyscale mode to Black Ink Only or Black Print Ink Cartridge OnlyClick Print to try the print job again. Next you might want to read about how your ink supplies are used; The following information is from this article; Ink Usage in Inkjet Printers - it discusses several aspects of ink usage with HP printers. Ink is used in a number of ways throughout the inkjet printing process. In general, ink in an ink cartridge is used for printing documents, photographs and other such materials. Some ink, however, must be used to maintain the health of the print head; some ink is residual; and some ink evaporates. How can I print in black and white only directly from apps on hp screen?

My printer preference from my pc is set to print in black and white from my computer. How do I set the same black and white settings from the HP Photosmart Plus printer, when printing directly from Apps on Home screen?

At this time there is not an option or a default to set black and white only from the front panel of the printer. Some applications may give you settings in the Application itself for color or black and white but that would be the only place to change the color of the document/photo for your print jobs.

hi, where did you change the color profile? I have a Hp Photosmart printer too and if I remember rightly, when you click 'print' in whatever application you are printing in there should be an option in one of the dropdown menus that comes up to change everything to black and white.

Follow the steps below to print using Black Ink only:
1. From the application used to print, click the File menu and select Print. The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized: Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.
2. To access the color options, click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
3. Select Paper Type/Quality from the drop-down menu.
4. Click the triangle next to Color Options to expend the settings.
5. Set the Color field as Grayscale.
6. Set the Grayscale Mode as Black Ink Cartridge Only.
You may save the settings for future use by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...
Any used preset will remain default so simply select teh standard preset to print in color.

C6150 - how to make it a black and white only printer

I have the C6150 all-in-one printer - it keeps running out of color cartridges even though I rarely use color printing. I want it to ignore the status of color cartridges even if they are empty. I set my printing option to say "black cartridge only" but it still doesn't allow printing and given an error message that "Replace the following empty ink cartridges to resume printing" - why does it need color cartridges to print in black when I am explicitly specifying it to use "Black cartridge only" in my print option? How do I make this printer a black and white only printer and igonre the status of color cartridges?

I have that happen as well. I have it set to print black only and it is still using color. Haven't a clue why!!!

I have HP Color Laserjet cp1515n. I downloaded and installed "HP_CP1510_series_full_solution_EMEA3-v4.0" from HP's website for the driver.
When printing (in the properties for the printer) there is no option whether to print in black and white only or not. Please help me get that option. And please tell me how I can save toner.

You can get this accomplished within most word/printing applications or preferences by selecting 'Greyscale' printing or black and white only.

Cannot find a place to select print in black and white only on my HP Photosmart 6520 printer.
It prints color just fine, but sometimes I do not want to use my color cartridges. I selected B&W instead of gray scale, but cannot stop the color printing.

Please try (for Windows):
Double click printer icon on desktop,
Clich Set Preferences
Click Advanced
Under Grayscale, select Black ink only
Click Ok/Apply ..
Please note: the printer still need color inks during warming up process.

Which application are you using ? Based on its manual (page #65):
Most print settings are automatically handled by the software application. You need to change the settings manually only when you change print quality, print on specific types of paper or transparency film, or use special features.
You need to set this up from the application(s) and you can set as default too.

HP 8500 All-in-one printer - how can I print in black and white only (to save color ink)?

I want to be able to select the option of printing in black and white only to save color ink. How can I do that?

What operating system? You can generally find an option for "Print in grayscale" and "Black ink only" in the Color or Advanced tab of the Printer Settings.
Some color ink will still be used to keep the printheads from clogging, see here for information. (The Officejet 8500 is an IIC printer in the vocabulary of that page.)

How do I turn it into a black and white only printer?
I just bought ink replacement for a whopping $563 which is way too much. My ink supplies have run out. I replaced the Balck ink but the printer is stuck in the "replace supplies" error w/ orange light flashing. Is there any way to re-configure the printer to only use as a B/W printer?

Officejet 6000 using color ink when set to greyscale black and white only

I have two new Officejet 6000's and both run out of color ink even though I have them set to print greyscale black and white only. I almost never use color. The drivers are the latest versions. Connected via ethernet cord. Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Color ink is too expensive to waste it like this. Does anyone have a reason and/or a solution why the color ink is running out when I have it set to black and white only?

I know these posts are old, but.
To force the print to print even though some carts are empty or expired. Turn the printer off. Then hold the feed button while turning the printer on. Keep the feed button pressed for about 4-5 seconds after powering on the printer.
