How to set up 2560 x 1080 resolution on mac pro 2007

Hello
I have a mac pro 2007 and need to install a new screen Dell U2913WM with display 2560 x 1080 ( ultra-sharp wide monitor)
However It does not exist in the display preferences and the CD provided does bot have installation software for Mac.
What can I do?
Please help me.

What is it that people don't list what graphic card they have?
You have the OEM 7300GT still? it has one dual link DVI and one single, try the other.
the Apple 5770 was perfect but is gone now.

  • 1080 resolution on Mac Pro

    Hey,
This is a carry on from the other topic I posted up:
I'm trying to attach my HD TV to my Mac Pro but it doesnt seem to work.
What I would like to do is to set the resolution of my displays to the native resolution of the TV which is 1920 x 1080 but I cannot find this option in the display preferences.

I've seen screen shots online where users have the option to choose 1080i or 1080p. This would be ideal!
    My hardware:
    Mac Pro 8 Core
GFX: Nvidia 8800GT (with dual DVI output)
    OSX : 10.6.4 (Snow Leopard)
    Cheers,

    Hi-
If the graphics card firmware does not have resolution support needed for a particular monitor, it won't show as an option.
    You can create new, custom resolutions using SwitchResX;

The difference between 1080p vs 1080i is not something to worry about.

How do set up your hotmail account on a mac book pro properly? I have it set up so I get mail but on my hotmail account I have lot of separate folders to save messages in(for example :- bank, skyp, work, Facebook, apple, ect...). They don't show up on my mac. I also have an iPhone and iPad, there is no issue here when I set those up. I automatically got my separate folders. Anybody have any idea or encountered the same problem?

I'm not gonna lie, I actually have no idea if its pop or imap. Do you know where you can check and if it can be changed?
Hotmail on a Mac is POP3 only, you will only get the basic folders (inbox, sent, trash etc) and it will not sync with other devices.
And now I post this I see other replies, so this is redundant. !!

  • How can I hook up 3 screens to a Mac Pro 8 core 2010 model?

How can I hook up 3 screens to a Mac Pro 8 core. One is a 23' Apple Cinema Display, the second is a 20" Apple cinema display and the 3rd is a 32' Sony Bravia HDTV (connected to mini port with mini/HDMI connector) Do I need to buy another video card? I have heard  about 4 different scenarios about this, and they all sound a bit complicated. I thought that you could automatically connect 3 displays with the card that comes with the MacPro. It has a DVI port and 2 mini ports, so it appears that would be for 3 displays. But this is where it gets strange. Any thoughts?

Which video card?  5x70?  If you read about the various scenarios thern for 5x70's you need two active adapters for thee monitors (TV considered a monitor).  And you should have seen references to these apple docs:
Mac Pro (Mid 2010), Mac Pro (Early 2009): Issues with three displays and multiple DVI, HDMI connections
Mac Pro (Early 2009), Mac Pro (Mid 2010): Supported display configurations
It's not really complicated.  Search out the appropriate adapters and hook 'em up.   For the 23" and 20", if they are DVI, you need single link adapters.  For the TV, if you end up using the DVI port for it (because possibly you can't find the appropate adapter cmbination) then you need to handle the audio separately since DVI doesn't carry audio.

  • How can i stream(air mirroring) *.mkv files between Mac Pro and AppleTV2 by using quicktimeX?

How can i stream(air mirroring) *.mkv files between Mac Pro and AppleTV2 by using quicktimeX?
    Need support!

How can i stream(air mirroring) *.mkv files between Mac Pro and AppleTV2 by using quicktimeX?
As stated you can't. Even if the compressed data is TV compatible, the container is not. If the file is playback compatible with the QT X Player, you can, of course, play the file on your main system and "mirror" its display to the TV. Unfortunately, this normally means only the video is played back via the TV device. On the other hand, if you convert the MKV content to an TV compatible file (or move the compressed data to an TV compatible container if the data is already TV compatible), then you can mirror the QT X player (with audio) to the TV device in the full screen mode, air play/mirror it from iTunes (or any mobile device), or stream it directly from itunes.
Basically, what you can do here depends on the compressed data in the MKV file container and how you define "mirroring."

  • My question was how do you control bass and treble on your Mac pro? he act of the matter is you can't. Why don't they just say that rather than reading all of the ********

My question was how do you control bass and treble n a Mac Pro with the latest software.
    The answer is you can't
In summary why don't you say that upfront?
Instead of reading a bunch of crap that says nothing

just a suggestion: try soundflower or Audio Hijack Pro. I know with the 2nd one, you can control the bass, treble, and all that, with anything that makes sound, from itunes, to Safari, DVD player, Skype ( I guess) and other stuff. Worth the $, IMO, so in answer to your question  dbumgardner1, no, no you can't.  I suppose in that sense, Windows has us at a loss. We also need 2nd party stuff to play BluRay's, too. However, I haven't seen any Macintosh viruses (virii?) for a long long time....
    so, there's that....

  • How to set up 2 iMessage account on one mac

My wife and I have each our own imessage account for our own ipad and iphone, but we share th same imac at home.
Every time I receive an imessage, it appears on the mac and when she send one, I have it automatically on my devices ( and it appears that it was sent by me) because my apple ID is the main one registered in our MAC.
How can I set up both imesssage accounr on the mac so that she can choose who is sending the message? Is there a way to have two imessage box open, one for each of us?
    Regards

    Hi,
In Messages you can only have one iMessages account (you can only have one Bonjour account as well)
As an Apple ID is likely to be an email you can add additional emails
However the sync process will then sync any and all iMessages to all devices and this may not be what you want.

  • If i previously had my iTunes library set up on an external hard drive, how do I get my iTunes on my new mac pro to operate off of the same hard drive?

I recently bought a mac pro. I previously had a macbook that I had set up for iTunes to run off of an external hard drive. How do I set up my mac pro to run off of this hard drive?  I have been trying to figure it out for the last hour and have had no luck.
I have tried to move my itunes folder on my mac pro to my external hard drive but am having no luck. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

If you had the entire library running from the external drive it should be a matter of holding down option as you start iTunes and browsing to the library on the external drive.
If you'd followed the advice to move the media folder only then ideally you need to recover the library folder from your Macbook with a view to making the library portable on the external drive.
Otherwise you're going to have to simply import the content into a new library, losing rating, playlists, play counts. etc.
If you have any devices that sync to your library see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • How do I set up an internal drive in my Mac pro as a mountable network drive

Hi! I basically would like to know how to use one of the internal hard drives in my Mac pro as a mountable network drive to enable me to do full time machine backup and restores for my MacBook pro. Thanks in advance for the help!

If it's just for you, you can access and or all of your Mac Pro drives from your MBP just by logging onto the Mac Pro using the Mac Pro name and password. This is a very bad idea unless you are in a trusted environment but if you're on a home network and you trust yourself, it really works.
I've been using this technique for years on a gigabit LAN in my home. It also works logging on the other or both ways. Just pay attention to things like re-boots and shut-downs.

  • How can I callibrate my CRT TV on my Mac Pro 1.1?

I am the lucky owner of a 32" Philips HD CRT TV. As far as I know my model is the only HD CRT TV produced by Philips (along with a 28" model).
My TV has great colors and the deepest black. I want to use it as my main screen with my Mac Pro.
The Mac Pro recognizes its resolution immediately. The only problem is that I need to callibrate the screen size because the OS screen is outside the TV's visible boundaries.
Is there a software inside the Snow Leopard OS X that callibrates CRT screens? Is there something by Nvidia (the card on the Mac Pro is the 7300GT)?

This sounds like overscan. Over the forum, we can't guess whether it's because an Overscan option is on in the OS X Displays preference, or because of a display size setting on the TV. You'll have to check both.

  • How many RAID drives can one use in a MAC Pro?

I know the question sounds simple. I have a Mac Pro with four matched drives (purchased specifically to do RAID). I want speed over everything else with these drives, and use a automated backup every night to create an external bootable backup, and once a week to do another, so I am comfortable with using all four internals for RAID. Also I have had my Mac for several months and have tried several configurations. I also used software raid in my old windows workstation (2 drives), Here is the reason for my question. In the Mac, as I have gone beyond 2 drives, I have noticed lots of speed, but issues with slowdowns when dealing with drives out of the raid set, 2 drives is fast and very stable, and "normal". 3 drives is noticably faster but has problems communicating with the single, fourth drive and external drives. 4 drives were tried early on and had problems, but that was long enough ago that I am not sure what was going on. My question: I assume that the four drives in the Mac operate on two SATA busses. Is there any reason, other than perhaps a my own hardware or install problem (ie, not a Mac limitation), that should prevent me from using all 4 drives in a single Mac disk utility software raid? has anyone done this? I want to consider this one more time before i consider the machine to be in its "final setup". Side point: Doing all the installs I have done to experiment with these questions has made me very comfortable with the Mac, and I am probably much further along in my "PC to Mac" transition that I ever would have been otherwise. Oh, on that line, BOOT CAMP is not being used, so that does not factor into the question. I certainly appreciate the consideration anyone would give to this post.

Thank you, in fact I am using Seagates, but they are 320GB, and were specifically the "NS" series that are designated bt Seagate as being for this kind of work, and 24-7 use. Then I found out how great the Mac sleep works, and my drives get less spin time than my PC drives did! But it had occurred to me that it was perhaps a drive issue. I will go to Seagates Support, and in the meantime, leave this topic open in case anyone else has similar thoughts.
    Thanks for the response!
