How to set up margins.

all my documents have gone to *#@% with new update, i have rediculous margins & cannot adjust them to fit properkly on page. has anyone found how to fix margins. the setting is in page but non-existant that i can see in numbers.

Please send Feedback to Apple via the Numbers menu and tell them how this change has affected you. More voices mean a better chance that the feature will be returned. For now, use the old software. I'm guessing that there in nothing in the new release that you find compelling.

I just migrated from MS Excel after decades of use. I can't find out how to set page margins using the new Numbers 3 version. I believe I've exhausted all reference materials and the most relevant was an method in Numbers 8 & 9... both of which have a different top menu selection. The answer is probably right in front of me and simple as it sometimes happens when learning new software...

There is no direct equivalent to page margins in Numbers 3.0. It's more oriented toward sharing on the web and on iPad screens than toward traditional printing.
However, there are ways to achieve the effect of margins. The idea is to first position your content (tables, charts, etc) on the canvas of a sheet, using rulers and guides if you want (you can drag the rulers onto the canvas to help in placement):
Then you File>Print and in Print Preview fiddle with the slider until you get the white space you want around your content:
Then click Print.
For many purposes it works quite well. It's just a different approach from what we're used to in Excel, and the old Numbers 2.3.

i am using Firefox version 31. I have a problem with page setup margins. I need to use left
30mm; right 10mm; top 20mm; bottom 20mm. I am using VMware floating assignemnt linked clones
virtual desktops. After users log off - machines are deleted and users next time logs on get's brand
new VDI's. Users gets printers to VDI using login script from Active Directory.

Each user have different logon script, because they use different printers (different printer names e.g. \\some_server\printer_number_2 ; \\some_server\printer_number_3 and etc. Page setup margins in Internet Explorer are ok. But how to make Firefox page setup margins as i need? For other options i have

Firefox has a profile folder that has preferences to save this. But the config that would need to be changed is:

Numbers has never had Page Breaks. The Numbers approach is to have several tables, each with a purpose. For example, an input table, a number crunching table, and a "Presentation" table to summarise results.
If your quotation runs to six pages, perhaps you could have 6 tables designed so that each fits within a layout guide:

Option 2, if you previously had Numbers 2.3 (Numbers '09) it now lives in a folder called iWork '09 inside your Applications folder. It works just as well as it used to, and has a proper Print View.
Option 3, copy and paste your table to Pages where I believe the layout is easier to arrange (maybe).

How to set vertical margins

I know we can set layout margins both for before and after certain section. The problem is that it doesn't define the margins for the whole pages. If you take a look at my example http://cl.ly/53Xe, you can see that I have some large margins in the beginning of my chapter, but in the following pages I lose those same margins. *How can I set fixed vertical margins throughout the document?*

That may just be part of your printer's non-printable area.
Most printers do not print right to the edge with a large margin at the bottom of the sheet.
To find out exactly where your printer prints, make a grey box to fill your entire page then print that, The white margins are non-printing.

Possible place(s) to look for a fix:
This might be a function output of the type of document you are printing.
Try setting the editor to wrap the text at a particular margin size.
Depending on your document editor and / or your browser , much of what is printed is controlled in Print Preview. The Print Preview feature is available in most editors and most browsers under File, that is, the left-most editor drop down menu function. (Chrome lacks a File Menu, find these features in Settings.)
You may need to switch the print to landscape.
You can also control the margins, at least to a small degree, in the Page Setup > Margins - Header / Footer tab of Print Preview. Be Aware: Expanding the margins may impact the header / footer information that is ordinarily printed on the document along with the text. You can switch off this information, if desired.

PDF Export: How to set bottom margin to 0

Greetings,
I am new to Crystal and I did not see this question on the forums, so please forgive me, if this topic has been covered elsewhere.
I am using Crystal Reports Standalone, XI R2 (product version 11.5.0.313). I am exporting a report to PDF and I need a company logo to sit at the very bottom of the page, with no white space/border/margin showing.
I was able to get the graphic image to "stretch" to the left and right , by picking a printer that allows for 0 margins. This fixed the issue with the left and the right, but i still get a small white border at the bottom of the page.
I have tried too many tricks to mention here., and none get rid of the bottom space/margin.
Is it possible to achieve this with Crystal? If so, I would be grateful for the steps to accomplish this.
NOTE: We are not able to upgrade or download service packs at this time, due to environment constraints. If this is something that is fixed in a service pack or future release, please tell me and I can relay that information to those with the authority to upgrade.

I'm creating a Pages document that will be exported to PDF.
On text pages I need to set margins on all sides, but for photo pages I want the margins completely removed.
What would be the best way to do this?

The best way would be to choose either *Layout mode* which is free form layout except for headers and footers, or to use *Word Processing* mode but make all your Photos in Floating imageboxes which can be placed wherever you like.

How to set the margin of a jtextfield when using standard lineborder

I want to give my jtextfield a custom inset. The problem is that I also use a lineborder which controls the inset, thus when I try to the setMargin method, it doesn't work.
Can anyone tell me how to do this?

hello,
try to use a compoundborder and add the lineborder and an emptyborder to it. by setting the emptyborders insets you can control the jtextpanes insets.

How to set page margin for any site being viewed without back and forth scrolling?

Some sites and most forums, the threads cannot be read without scrolling the screen back and forth. How can these be set where all information is read without moving screen short of up or down and not side ways back and forth.

Thank you all for attempts to satisfy my needs. The last concerning my screen is 19 inches and 800 resolution. I'm very long in the tooth and if I go higher in
resolution I have to play squint the fonts are so small. Crank them up and I'm back to scrolling back and forth on the screen.

How to set the margins for the pdf output in BI Publisher

Hi There,
When we view a report in PDF format in BI Publisher, we get pdf output in an iframe.
There are two scroll bars on the right side. When we scroll down the outer scrollbar to the bottom, there is a white space between the bottom border of the pdf report and bottom portion of the window.
We are calling BI report from apex by passing the url of the report. In this case the white space at the bottom is quite evident and seems that lot of space is being wasted.
Can somebody help me, how to remove or minimize this white space.

Hello,
open your report for editing, so you see the page with your layouts. Then click on the Link "Show as List" on the upper right. In the List of the output formats select "FO Formatted XML". This enables FO Export.
Then execute your report, click on the small menu item at the upper right. The Menu opens, select Export -> FO.

How do I set the margins for a book in ibook author

I am fairly new to Ibooks author and am having trouble figuring out how to set my margins to follow throughout the book. I am making the book in landscape mode and want the hardcopy version to be 11 x 8.5. I need the left margin to be set at 2.5 and no matter what I have done it skews the following pages. I will publish this online but since this is going to be a family history book, I am going to have to export it eventually to PDF and send it to a printer. Does anyone know how to change these settings?
