How to set up two apple ids for use on one phone?

Help!  My husband got an iPhone 4S.  I have had one for a while.  We each have an apple ID.  I need step by step instructions as to change his phone settings so that we use my apple ID for music and apps on his phone and his apple ID for everything else.  My goal is that he can access music and apps I already purchased, but we each get our own texts, emails, etc.
I know this has been asked hundreds of times, but I can't find the answer searching past discussions.  I did this already for my daughter's ipad mini, but I had to go to the apple store for help.  I can't figure it out on my own.  Any help is appreciated!

Make sure that in Settings
Messages> Send/Recieve -your signed in to your own account
When your trying to share applications you cant be signed in to both accounts Simutaniously but you can technically sign in to their account in Settings>iTunes / App store- download their apps/music
Then sign out and back in to your device with your own account

  • How do you create two apple ids for one email address.

I bought two i pads for my kids. Since we have just one email address, everytime I try to create a new apple id it says I already have one. They need separate ids so their friends can facetime with one and not the other. Can't figure out how to create two apple ids with one email address.

Well any ideas on how to solve this problem? When my daughter does facetime with someone it says she's Wyatt. She's not real happy about that.
Get her an email address, even if she never uses it.  They're free and available almost everywhere.  The only requirement is that the address be a valid one.
    Edit...
You can even use an "alias" of yours.  That's a fake address that actually sends everything to you.  Check with your current email supplier.

Apple will not merge two Apple IDs, nor will Apple transfer content from one ID to another.

How do I create apple IdS for three family members with the same e-mail? They are kids and have no e-mail.

You can configure a new email address for them using the @cloud.com server suffix. Do that when you open an iCloud account for each and set up the separate Apple IDs that will each be tied to a different email address.

  • Is it possible to have two Apple IDs  for one account?

I would like to set up one account with two Apple IDs so I could have one restricted to only free apps and the other unrestricted.  My daughter has an iPod Touch and I want to restrict what she can purchase but also make it so if we agree that purchasing an app for her iPod Touch we can.  New to this Apple ID stuff.
    Thanks,

No. Each account needs it uniquie email adresss as the Apple ID.  However, yucan use more than one account on a single iPod and in iTunes.
To change the acount on the iPOd go to Settins>Store and sign out and sign in with the account you wnat. Also see:

  • Should I set up separate apple ids for my kids or should we use mine?  If we separate them, can we still share our music from itunes?

I have an iphone 5s and an ipad that both use my apple id.  Last week, my 2 kids got iphones so they are also using my id.  Should we create separate apple/icloud ids for them or should we all use mine?  Can we continue to share music from itunes if we have separate ones?  I'm really not sure of the best way to handle this and I don't want to screw anything up!  I really appreciate any help!  Thanks so much!

There can be more than one Apple IDs for one iPhone, and each ID will be responsible for its own functions. You could, for example, set up one for iCloud, which will contain your contacts, calendars, settings, your backups, etc. But at the same time you could have another Apple ID for purchasing your apps, so when you buy or get free app, App Store will ask you for Apple ID and you can enter another ID that is not the same that keeps your backups and settings.
If you want to separate your sons iPhone from your ID completely, you can change it in iCloud settings. Also it will make your children's life a lot easier.

  • HT5625 How do you merge two Apple IDs into one account?

I have two Apple IDs (it's a long story) with mixed content.  I'd like to merge the accounts into one account, in order to synchronize my apple products.  How do I do it?

    1. Click here and ask the iTunes Store staff if they'll do it. They probably won't.
    2. Because Apple generally doesn't permit that.
    3. Because the content remains associated with your Apple ID when you share it with other people.

  • Two Apple IDs... deleting one and content lost?

I have a several year old Apple ID that I must have created a while back, but didn't use much as I only had an iPhone... but it has my current gmail email address
When I got my new iPhone, ipad and Mac, I couldn't rember what my Apple ID was (nor did I realize how difficult it would be resolve this issue in the future) amd created a second ID with an old comcast email account.  We are now getting rid of comcast and want to change the Primary email address for Apple ID to my current email / gamil account.... but I get an "email already in use" error message
Understand that I can not combine the content, purchased into a single ID but I am OK loosing the content, the price to pay to work around a difficult software.
How do I delete the apple ID with a gmail account and then after I delete that I can change the email addres on the comcast account back to my primary gmail account?  Is there a way to see the amount of content associated with my two apple IDs?
    Thanks
    Rob

You can't delete an account, but you can try logging into the old account via this page and change it's primary email address to be something else : http://appleid.apple.com - you can then try updating your new account to have that new email address on it.
You can see the purchase history of an account via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes - if you log into your account via that then on your account's page there should be a Purchase History section with a 'see all' clickable link next to it.

  • How do I manage two apple ids and iCloud for my teen's iPad?

Before my son turned 13, he used my Apple ID to set up his purchases for his first iPad.  Now he has his own apple ID.  He has his own iPhone and a different iPad for school.  The school wants him to use iCloud to back up everything.
I just set up iCloud but it wants to back up the items from my ID only.  How do I get it to back up from his ID too?
How can I even figure out which items are linked to his Apple ID and which ones are linked to my Apple ID?
For next school year, I want everything to work with his ID, not mine.  I wish I had just made him one in his name when he was 12!
I'm not so worried about the apps, photos, etc.  I am more concerned about his documents from Pages, Keynote, iBooks... I think when he does his schoolwork it is saving to my Apple ID and not his.
I've avoided syncing to the computers because we have 3 users with different IDs and several different devices and after a while it gets really confusing to know what belongs to whom.
I know that a lot of people are frustrated that you can't merge Apple IDs -- seems like Apple ID is built for single people and not growing families who hand down older devices to other family members.

You can see which ID he is signed into for iCloud by going to Settings>iCloud on his device(s) and viewing the ID shown next to Account.  This is the account that his documents are being store in, and the one his device is backing up to (if he is backing up to iCloud).
While it is possible to have more than one iCloud account on a device, there are limitations to the typed of data that additional ("secondary") accounts will sync.  Only the primary account (the one listed in Settings>iCloud) can be used for photo stream, bookmarks, documents, iCloud backup and Find My iDevice.  Because of this limitation, it isn't possible to sync (or "back up") documents from iWork to more than one iCloud account.

  • How can I have two Apple IDs (one from Canada and one from the UK) for the same device?

I originally bought an iPhone in Canada and had my first Apple ID while there. I still want to have this account, as there are some Canadian apps that I wish to have and keep updating. However, I am now living in the UK - yet when I try to search for apps that all of my friends have I can't find them because they are particular to Britain. Do I need an new Apple ID for the UK, and is it possible to have both Apple IDs feeding into the same iTunes account?
    Thanks for any insight!

If you want to move your iCloud account to another existing ID you'll have to delete the existing account, set up a new account with the other ID, then upload your data to the new account.  To do this, begin by going to Settings>iCloud and turn all synced data (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off.  When prompted choose to keep the data on your phone.  After everything is turned off you can scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  Then set up the new account with your other ID and turn syncing for calendars, contacts, etc. back to On.  When prompted, choose Merge.  This will upload your data to the new account.  Note: this will not migrate your photo stream photos.  You will need to save these prior to deleting the existing account.
