How to setup 2 iTunes Libraries with 2 different HD locations? HELP please!

I am so confused how this is supposed to work! I've searched all over the forums, Apple discussion board, and support section, and the only thing I can find tells you how to press the Option key when loading iTunes. DUH! That's the easy part! But how in the heck do you set up the libraries? Why is this not documented anywhere?
So basically I have a MBP, and ALL of my iTunes stuff is on an external USB hard drive. What I would like to do is have that external hard drive REMAIN as my main library, the one I sync my iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, etc... but would like to COPY my music files only (about 35GB) to my MBP on the internal drive, so I can have all MUSIC files with me. I would not sync with this library, just play it on my laptop on occasion. Isn't this do-able?
Where I am having trouble is this: I held down Option, loaded a brand new library, and figured I need to go in the Prefs and tell it where to get the music files, so I noticed it showed the external drive there. I changed it to my local folder, hoping that's where I would copy the music files to, but then noticed when I loaded iTunes and the MAIN library, it automatically changed my iTunes location to the new local drive I just set for the other library. This makes no sense to me as if iTunes forces you to have only ONE choice for the source of the files, what's the point of multiple libraries? I want a different location for each of the two libraries!
Clearly I don't have something set right, or I am missing a step. Can someone please help me ASAP?
Thanks in advance...
One more thing - what's the best way to copy my music only, to my local drive after setting this up? I tried opening iTunes and selecting all of the music files and dragging it to a local folder, and it got stuck for about 30 seconds then didn't do jack. I don't get why I'm having such a hard time with this.

I'll go play around with the Input Currency and the output currency. How can i play around in specific?
For transferring it to payroll you may need to thinking of attaching it to the correct >ledger. The Transfering is to GL by running conc. request 'Transfer is to GL'
are you going to pay the non local people in the local bank or in the foreign bank. All the employees are going to be paid through Local banks but the employees can have any type of Currency Account (i.e. It can be USD,EURO,RAND, etc...)
Thank you,
Chetan

  • How to Setup iTunes Server with dedicated Mac

    Hi,
I'm about to attempt to setup an iTunes Server. But before I do I want to make sure I have everything needed in order to accomplish this the way I envision it.
This is the hardware/software I have:
    1. Powerbook G4 1.5Ghz
    2. iPhone
    3. Time Capsule
    4. USB Drive
    5. Airport Express connected to Stereo
    6. iTunes 8
    7. Screen Sharing
    8. 10.5.5
    9. Intel iMac
Here's what I want to be able to do (ideally):
    1. Have iTunes run on the Powerbook.
    2. Store all of the media files on the USB drive that is connected to the Time Capsule.
    3. Have Time Machine backup the files from the USB drive to the Time Capsule.
    4. Use the iPhone as a remote control to skip and rate songs, etc.
    5. Sync the iPhone with the Powerbook for Music & Movies and sync it with my desktop iMac for everything else. Also, be able to sync iPods to the Powerbook.
    6. Occasionally use iTunes Sharing on my iMac to watch movies or TV shows that are "hosted" by the Powerbook.
    7. Occasionally hard-wire the Powerbook to my TV to watch movies or TV shows that are "hosted" by the Powerbook.
    7. Not have the Powerbook hard-wired to anything (other than when syncing iPhone & iPods and when it's connected to the TV).
    8. Use Screen Sharing to make playlists and generally edit iTunes from my desktop iMac.
Is all of this possible? The only real hiccup I anticipate is with Time Machine backing up the USB drive to the Time Capsule. That and maybe the streaming of movies not working so smoothly on the 802.11g protocol.
    Have I missed anything?

    Everything should be good.
I have a similar set-up, just substitute my mini in place of your powerbook.
The only thing I would add is I have yet to get coverflow to work on a networked library. In other words, when I view my mini iTunes library from my iMac- I don't see the album artwork or the movie posters...it's just a list of the media.
No major deal, but the reason I keep my drive connected to the mini as opposed to a NAS (network attached storage) device like the Time Capsule.
My mini is my media center and I want to be able to view the cover artwork/posters.
If there is a better way- let me know!

I ahve two itunes accounts with different Apple ID's.  How can I merge them into one account?

Apple has no provisions for this. You cannot merge multiple Apple ID's into one ID. Content is always tied to the Apple ID that was used to purchase it.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    You can't merge accounts.
You can however share or import content from another library/account using homesharing.

I have two separate iTunes libraries on different computers and I would like to compact into one. But I cannot without completely erasing one of the libraries. How can I do this without deleting anything?

Copy the content from one computer to another and import the media into iTunes.
Any playlists, playcounts, etc on the computer the content is being moved from will be lost.

  • HT204498 I have 2 apple store accounts and this has resulted in 2 iTunes accounts with different TV show purchases. How can I get both on my AppleTV?

I have 2 apple store accounts and this has resulted in 2 iTunes accounts with different TV show purchases. How can I get both on my AppleTV? It was suggested I sign out of the current active AppleTV account and sign in with the other. I can find no way to do this. Also, I have been advised by Apple that I cannot consolidate the two accounts.

I am certain you are doing backups of your TV shows on your computer in iTunes?!  If not, do so.  You should also make sure that you backup both accounts.  Now, for your problem, you could combine the backups to one location then use your computer function on your Apple TV to watch all of your TV shows in one place.  The only other way to watch both accounts is to actually go into account settings on your Apple TV and change the account info to the account you want to watch the TV shows in that account.  Sounds awful, probably is.

    Hi dprette,
When setting up iTunes to share a single music library between multiple user accounts on one computer you should follow the steps in this article -

  • I have an old dell computer that my itunes is currently on, can i some how switch my itunes to a different computer?

i have an old dell computer that my itunes is currently on, can i some how switch my itunes to a different computer?
im planning on getting rid of this computer and getting a macbook, i still want to keeo all my songs in my library, what could i do?

These are two possible approaches that will normally work to move an existing library to a new computer.
    Method 1
Backup the library with this User Tip.
Deauthorize the old computer if you no longer want to access protected content on it.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.
    Method 2
Connect the two computers to the same network. Share your <User's Music> folder from the old computer and copy the entire iTunes library folder into the <User's Music> folder on the new one. Again, deauthorize the old computer if no longer required.
Both methods should give the new computer a working clone of the library that was on the old one. As far as iTunes is concerned this is still the "home" library for your devices so you shouldn't have any issues with iTunes wanting to erase and reload.
I'd recommend method 1 since it establishes an ongoing backup for your library.
If you have an iOS device that syncs with contact & calendar data on your computer you should migrate this information too. If that isn't possible create a dummy entry of each type in your new profile and iTunes should offer to merge the existing data from the device into the computer, otherwise the danger is that it will wipe the information from the device.
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for advice on how to set up your devices with a new library with the maximum preservation of data. If you don't have any Apple devices then see HT2519 - Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store.

  • Can i use 2 ipad's on the same itunes account with different apple accounts?

Both me and partner have an ipad 4. Though we only have one computer, can we use the same itunes but with different apple acount without any issues? We use some of the same apps, but my partner plays fx Baldus Gate and is worries that save files will be corrupted.

Each iPad should be linked to its owner's personal, private and nonshared AppleID. In the Mac, each one should have a different login account so each has their own iTunes Library containing your iPad's details. When you use iTunes on the Mac, since each logs in with a different login and corresponding Home directory, iTunes picks up the correct AppleID.

How can i share documents with different users on the same mac?

Shared how? The other users can read the documents or you all can read and write the documents?
The first is easy just place the documents in /Users/Shared anyone can access the files there and the other users will be able to read them.
The second is a bit trickier.

  • How do I write harmonies with different note values?

I'm new to GarageBand and have been working with the score on the software grand piano.  At first, I'll write a melody line and then go back to add harmony.  When I try to add a harmony that has a different rhythm, GarageBand automatically changes the melody to match the rhythm of the harmony.  I'm trying to write the parts in the same staff so that the piano part can all be printed on the same page.  Any thoughts/help on how to write the piece with different rhythms in one measure?

Have you tried to click the clef to get two lines of notation? I enter the chords in the bass clef line, if I need a different rhythm, for example: Or make the edits in piano roll.

  • How to install Virtual Keyboard with Different language ?

    HI,
How to install Virtual Keyboard with Different language (Arabic) in MacBook Pro ( Mac OS X v10.5.8 Leopard).
    Thanks,

How to install Virtual Keyboard with Different language (Arabic) in MacBook Pro ( Mac OS X v10.5.8 Leopard).
What are you talking about exactly?
OS X comes with a virtual keyboard already. It is called Keyboard Viewer. You activate it by going to system prefs/international/input menu and checking its box (plus the box for Show Input Menu in Finder). At the same time you can check the boxes for the Arabic keyboard layouts.
You can then select the Arabic keyboard layouts and the Keyboard Viewer from the "flag" menu at the top-right of the Finder.
Let us know if you have further questions. If you are talking about some specific non-Apple app, could you provide the url?

  • Multiple itunes libraries, multiple users...HELP!!!

    Hi,
I have one imac G5 with 3 dif. user accounts. somehow, I have split one daughter's itunes library into a few libraries, the old main one and now one with new purchases.
Also, I tried to then put the 3rd user's library into the shared folder. I know I need to get the libraries merged, in the right place and then point iTunes in the right direction, right?
Basically, I want each user to have their own main library, but be able to add other libraries songs, apps, etc. I need to MERGE 2 libraries and then figure out how to share the libraries with all 3 users.
    THANKS!
