How to Setup WRITTEN as a wireless access point to work with WRITTEN

Hi,
I had a router WRITTEN which was not covering the whole space in my house. I was looking for a N wireless access point or a range extender.
The shop seller convinced me to buy WRITTEN saying that the Dual N will fix my problem.
well it did not. The reception in some locations is still poor.
the same reseller advised me to use the 350N as a wireless access point instead of buying one. The question is how to do it.
I am thinking about the following:
1- Have the WRITTEN installed next to the internet modem connect to the modem by cable
2- in another room have the WRITTEN (approx 20 meters away) not connected by a cable to the WRITTEN
3- When using the laptop in the weak reception area, I try to connect wirelessly to WRITTEN which should be also connected wirelessly to the WRITTEN
Would that be possible. I hope so since there is no way to have a cable connecting the 350N and 610N due to many reasons
appreciate your help in adance

I am sorry but the spelling checker repalced my router names to another word
the correct text is:

  • How do i set up a wireless access point with ny time capsule

I am using a new Airport Extreme and want to utilize my older TC to create a wireless access point or maybe an aditional router using the same newtwork.  What are the steps to set this up?
    Thanks
    Alamo

You will first need to perform a Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule.
Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule FAQ
Then, temporarily locate it in close proximity (same room or nearby) to the AirPort Extreme.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click the tab in the upper left hand corner of the AirPort Utility window that reads Other AirPort Base Stations (1), then click the Time Capsule
AirPort Utility will take a moment or two to analyze your network, then announce that the TC will be configured to extend your wireless network.
Enter a name for the TC (you can use the same device name that you used before if you wish) and click Next.
AirPort Utility will take a another minute or two to configure the TC and then tell you that the setup is complete. Click Done
At this point, power down the TC and move it to a location that is approximately half the distance from the AirPort Extreme and the area that needs more wireless coverage.....to give the TC a good strong signal to "extend"
Power up the TC and wait for the green light and then you are all set.

  • I have an airport express, which I want to use with my broadband providers router to create a second wireless access point but not with the same network name etc.

In effect, I want to have my providers router working upstairs and the aiport express downstairs connected via wi fi. The airport would have a different network name, then allowing me to connect the children to the access point. This would allow me to turn their network off at times of day etc.
    any ideas ?

I want to have my providers router working upstairs and the aiport express downstairs connected via wi fi
Sorry, but the AirPort Express....or any other Apple router......cannot do this.
In order to do what you want, you will need to establish an Ethernet connection from one of the LAN <-> ports on your "main" router to the WAN "O" port on the AirPort Express.
Configure the AirPort Express to "create a wireless network" using a wireless network name, and password that you select. As far as controlling connections, you can use the settings in Timed Access to establish rules about when the kids and cannot connect.

  • Domain user authentication for 3650 Wireless Access point

    Dear All,
I have got new proposal inorder to configure the wireless access points by managing with the 3650 wireless controller.
We wanted to block the Wifi Access to mobile users.
Only domain users need to be authenticate to the corporate wireless access.
We have 3650 switch as a wireless controller and ISE in place. Kindly guide me the achieve the same. Attached the setup diagram.
If possible share the sample configuration and it would be helpful.

  • Factory Floor Wireless Access Point

I am interested in implementing an wireless access point to communicate with existing Ethernet linked Rockwell PLCs.  Primary tasks would be supervisory in nature for troubleshooting and programming using Rockwell software on Windows PC.  Currently would not be for PLC to PLC communications, maybe in the future.  Plant is about 100,000 square feet.  Looking for solutions that is reliable and having high availability.  Please advise of specific solutions/models.
    Thanks,
    Dave

With that area then you need alot of APs.  First question is whether or not you'll need Cisco CleanAir feature.  If you don't need this feature then your choice of APs narrow down to the following:  1140, 1250 AND 1260.
The 1250 and the 1260 requires external antennas.  The 1140 has an internal antenna and is mostly suited for office space deployment.  The 1260 will support antennas of up to -6 dBm while the 1250 can support slightly higher.  The 1250 requires 20.0w of power for optimum operation while the 1260 and the 1140 will operate at 15.4w PoE power.  If you don't have any PoE switches then you can purchase either a PWR-INJ4 power brick or a mid-span switch.
If you need CleanAir then your choice is the 3500i (internal antenna), 3500e (external antenna of no more than -6 dBm gain) or the 3500p (stadium-deployment AP).
I also forgot that you'll require a Wireless LAN Controller if you get the 3500-series AP.  IF this is so, then I would recommend the 5508.

  • List of routers/access points that work/don't work with new airport extreme

Lets try to put together a list of routers/access points that work with the integrated airport extreme in the new intel macs and 10.4.5 (or 10.4.4) The purpose is to determine what is needed to make this work.
    1) only wireless g, 802.11b does not seem to have this problem, psp probably is not supported by most 802.11b cards so its probably disabled in that mode.
    I'll start off.
imac dou core. ( 1 week old)
dlink 2100ap , wireless g , does not work, slow not paifully slow internet access, very degraded video/audio streaming over local network.

    I'm afraid 11b is affected.
    I have a D-Link DSL 604+ router, which is 11b only.
Wireless is very slow, I noticed it right away. I get the sawtooth readout in activity monitor's network section.
Also, after putting the iMac to sleep it cannot find my wifi network upon waking. I have to restart the system before it'll connect to my wifi network again.

  • How to setup a wrt54g router as a wireless access point to extend wifi signal from e3200

how do i setup a wrt54g router as a wireless access point to extend wifi signal from e3200 which is broadcasting the internet?
everyone keeps saying to remove the stock firmware and instal the dd-wrt firmare to do this. can i do this with the stock firmware?
any tips to avoid interfearance once setup?

You have to connect both with a cable.

  • Can WRT54G be setup as a Wireless Access Point?

Does anyone know how to setup a router (WRT54G) to connect to other routers using a wireless connection and function as either a wireless access point or another router using the main router for it's internet and network connection?

you cannot get  the WRT to connect wireless to any device as it is an access point.
However this same thing will work wired. All you need to do is change the LAN ip of the WRT to 192.168.1.50 from 192.168.1.1 and disable the DHCP on the WRT.
Connect both devices LAN to LAN , do not use the internet port of the WRT.

  • How to enable wireless access point for WRT300N

From product data, "First, there’s the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires."
I already have a WRT54GX-V2 setup to modem.
My intention for this WRT300N is to extend the network connectivity without any lan cable running along my house for those devices which only support LAN wire.
Try to search/google around, there is no hint/help to configure AP in WRT300N.
May I know how should I configure WRT300N so that i will be as an access point to WRT45GX-V2 without any wired connection between these 2 router.
    Thanks.

Is that mean I can do that with WAP4400N only if we want to sustain wireless-N mode?
Yes. With standard firmware, yes. (If there is a N WET wireless bridge, that would do it, too, of course)
Is there any way to configure WRT300N to connect to WRT54GX by wireless?
It may be possible if you can flash third party firmware like dd-wrt on the router (either one). I would suggest to check the dd-wrt wiki for notes on which routers are supported and which not. However, a bad flash may brick your router and it is probably not covered by warranty then...
If use wired connection, do I need to change any configuration vs. default factory setup?
If you can run a wire I would suggest this setup.
EDIT: as Ricewind correctly noted, the Linksys WETs are the wireless bridges. The WRE is a repeater.

How can I set up a guest access point with a Time Capsule and an Airport Extreme? I am using a Telus router with the Time Capsule used as a wireless access point (bridge mode). I don't want the guest access point to have access to my network.

The Guest Network function of the Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme cannot be enabled when the device is in Bridge Mode. Unfortunately, with another router...the Telus...upstream on your network, Bridge Mode is indicated as the correct setting for all other routers on the network.
If you can replace the Telus gateway with a simple modem (that performs no routing functions), you should be able to configure either the Time Capsule or the AirPort Extreme....whichever is connected to the modem....to provide a Guest Network.

  • How to find out wireless access point?

    Hi all!
I want to write one simple program which could detect all wireless access point're running around me. So pls somebody could tell me what I have to do now?
    Thank you so much!

    Dear prometheuzz !
I knew it but :) OS default can't detect AP which not
broadcast SSID. By the way why U said that Java is
not suitable for this task???Dear viethanguyen ,
Java doesnt have this functionality, cause Java is a High Level language, and what you are asking for is low level programming that is related to the underlying OS system calls and modules. So if your OS doesnt have/support this functionality, then how you expect Java to have it!. And if you are using GNU/Linux search for tools like kismet, air-snort ...etc.

  • How do you remove a manually configured wireless access point on the iphone 4S?

I have manually configured my iPhone 4s to point to a wireless access point that I no longer use. How do I delete it from the list of access points on my iPhone?

You can only "Forget this Network" while actually connected to the network, so ignore iamjeremi's post. Other than restoring your phone as a new device, you can't if you cannot connect to the network anymore.
