How to solve mountain lion not start downloading(white progress bar)?

Dear All,
I cannot install Mountain Lion with this error "This Copy of the Install OS X Mountain Lion Application can’t be verified"
Then I delete it and redownload and downloading never start. In App Store->Purchase tab, "DOWNLOADED" is shown for mountain lion.
But in Luanchpad, the white progress bar at Mountain Lion icon is shown.
Please help. Thanks in advance.

Restart your modem and router. If you can connect with an ethernet cable, try that.
If there is an icon in LaunchPad, hold down the option key and click the x over it.
Then, try to download again.

  • How long does mountain lion take to download?

On average how long does mountain lion take to download from the app store?

Always keep an eye on 'More like this', the column to the right of your initial post.    You will often find answers and direct leads to your questions there.
In fact it relates to your ISP and the download speeds you have.   I believe it is 4GB in size.

how long does mountain lion take to download and where does it say how much it has left mine just says downloading ?

It's totally dependent on your broadband speed.
It took me about 45 minutes to download, but I have a reasonably fast connection.
It will often say in the purchased pane of the Mac App Store how much longer it will take.

  • I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion and found out it was not compatible with my HP printer (HP photosmart C5580) so I called Apple and asked how to get Mountain Lion off and Snow Leopard back on.  The Tech told me to

I was using OS Snow Leopard and on 8/1/13 I downloaded Mountain Lion.  Then I found out it was not compatible with my HP Printer (HP Photosmart C5580 all-in-one) so I called Apple support and the tech told me to erase the hard drive instead of going in the time machine.  Well I did that and then it took about three hours three days a week for about three weeks on the phone with an apple tech to get all my stuff back on my computer.  I have had trouble with my printer (won't do the scan anymore and wasn't printing on my DVDs.  Also the computer keeps freezing up when it is in the sleep mode, etc.
When I tried to list my problem on this forum it lists your OS at the bottom and mine had Mountain Lion listed as what I was using so apparently it didn't erase it.  Want to know how to get Mountain Lion off and put my Snow Leopard on so things start working right.

Go to the  menu/About This Mac - what OS version shows there?
Do a backup, preferably 2 separate ones on 2 separate drives.
Revert to a Previous OS X
    Revert to Snow Leopard
If you do revert, I'd use Setup Assistant to restore your data. This process takes a while, so do it when you won't need the computer for several hours, based on my experience.

What's installed on your computer? If you don't have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later then you cannot get Lion. If you already have Lion installed then you cannot re-download from the App Store until you have reinstalled Snow Leopard.

  • Mountain Lion Not Downloading Past 53mb

Mountain lion won't download past 53mb before "calculating" the download time remaining. I've restarted my computer and cancelled and restarted the download. Still freezes at the same spot. Any solutions?

Then the next question is what kind of access do you have, DSL, cable, FiOS, or something else?  The full ML download is almost 5 GB so young can have issues with a slow connection and a file that size...not knowing where you are, can you try an off-hours time for the US west coast?

Open App Store and sign in with your Apple ID. Click on the Support link under Quick Links on the right side.

  • Mountain Lion Notes App missing (IT installed Lotus Notes over the top)

My IT department installed Lotus Notes and it installed over the top of the Mountain Lion Notes application and thus deleted it. I renamed the Lotus Notes application (originally just called Notes). How do I get the original OSX notes application back?

Ok, found the solution, download mountain lion from the app store once more, then use Pacifist to extract the notes appllication again.

  • How to uninstall Mountain Lion Server

I recently had to uninstall OS X Server (version 2.2, for Mountain Lion, not the earlier Server for Lion), and I couldn't figure out how. Here's what worked:
    Start Applications/Server.
Turn off all services that are running.
    Quit out of Server.
    Drag Applications/Server to the Trash.
Doing so will cause an alert to pop up, saying that removal of Server has been detected. Okay that.
Drag Macintosh HD/Library/Server to the Trash.
    Restart.
I had to uninstall because I was trying to use Migration Assistant to copy everything to a new machine, and it refused to do so as long as Server was installed.

Most of the world uses Linux or Windows Server, and that's why Apple doesn't put their highest standard of effort into OS X Server... And because of that, most of the world uses Linux or Windows Server, it's a Catch 22.
Nevertheless, it is the best solution for managing an array of Apple devices, especially corporate iPads, I can think of nothing else that lets me do all of the things OS X Server lets me do.  Granted, I have a bunch of Apple products, I'm sure if I had a bunch of Android and Microsoft products, I'd be using Windows Server instead.
Like I said though, if more people used OS X Server, I'm sure Apple would put more effort into it.  Heck, if they charged more for it, if that's what it takes for them to make it competitive with Windows Server, I'd pay the premium.
    @MeatyChi,
You can copy the Server app from any Mac and put it on Another Mac.  Don't worry about the Library/Server directory, that's automatically created when Server.app runs its first-use operations.

How to put mountain lion on a thumb drive?

    Make Your Own Mountain/Lion Installer
    1. After downloading Mountain/Lion you must first save the Install Mac OS X Mountain/
Lion application. After Mountain/Lion downloads DO NOT click on the Install button.
Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the Mountain/Lion installer. Move
the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You
must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes
        installing.
    2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
      a. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
      b. After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left
side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
      c. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until
          the process has completed.
      d. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side
list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
      e. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the
button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
      f. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash
         drive size.
    3. Locate the saved Mountain/Lion installer in your Downloads folder. CTRL- or RIGHT-click on the installer and select Show Package Contents from the contextual menu. Double-click on the Contents folder to open it. Double-click on the SharedSupport folder. In this folder you will see a disc image named InstallESD.dmg.
    4. Plug in your freshly prepared USB flash drive. You are going to clone the content of the InstallESD.dmg disc image to the flash drive as follows:
      a. Double-click on the InstallESD.dmg file to mount it on your Desktop.
      b. Open Disk Utility.
      c. Select the USB flash drive from the left side list.
      d. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      e. Select the USB flash drive volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
      f. Drag the mounted disc icon from the Desktop into the Source entry field.
      g. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
When the clone is completed you have a fully bootable installer that you can use without having to re-download Mountain/Lion.
Note: The term Mountain/Lion used above means Lion or Mountain Lion.
As an alternative to the above (you still have to do your own download of Lion/Mountain Lion) you can try using Lion DiskMaker 2.0 that automates the process of Steps 2 through 4.

  • How to update mountain lion

i dont know how i update mountain lion. i have osx 10.7.5. i dont know how i get osx 10.8.3?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
OS X Mountain Lion is a paid version, so you can't get it from Software Update.
First, make a backup of your data, just in case the upgrade fails. Then, check that your computer is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion > http://www.apple.com/osx/specs If it's compatible, open the App Store and purchase OS X Mountain Lion.
The OS X Mountain Lion installer will be downloaded. It takes 4 GB, so this may take hours. When it finishes, the Mountain Lion installer will show up, so follow the steps to upgrade to Mountain Lion

  • I bought and was downloading Mountain Lion but the download stalled. What do I do?

I bought and was downloading Mountain Lion but the download stalled. What do I do?

What do you see in the Mac App Store > Purchases section? The dl could just be paused, in which case you can resume it and carry on.
If it doesn't list it there then search your Mac for the installer incase it finished in the background and didn't start the installer automatically.
Finally, if you don't see it anywhere and you're sure it hasn't finished and actually updated without you realising it, you can email Apple's iTunes support team and they can either put it back in your download queue to try again or regrant you the download so you can 'buy' it again without having to pay.
