How to stop receiving from a mail account but still send from that account

Hi
I was wondering if anyone knew how set up a mail account that will send but not recieve. Basically, I would like it to stop going to the server and grabbing emails from this account, but I want to be able to send emails from this account. Is this possible??

Welcome to the Discussions.
Very possible and very easy to configure. First, in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced deselect to include when automatically checking for new messages. Second, click on Mailbox in the menubar, choose Online Status, and click to take this account Offline. An account that is Offline can still be used to Send.
These two steps, together, will accomplish what you need.

Did you set up restrictions for changing account info in Settings/General/Restrictions? If yes, disable them and try again to edit your mail account info.

Are you saying you are successful in sending text messages to Android users from your iPad? I doubt you can do that as iPad does not SMS, which is what a cell phone does, but iPad is not a cell phone. The Message App in iPad was designed to let you send messages to other iOS based devices.
There are Apps you can get from the App Store, like TextFree, which will assign a number to your account, but from iPad you can text all your contacts regardless of type of device. You will however need to let everyone you message with know what number a message would come from as it won't come from your cell number.

How can i get rid of my .me account but still have my .icloud account?

for some reason i keep getting unwanted email from a bunch of different people sent to my .me email account. i would like to know if i can close it and just use my .icloud account. i dont want to restart with a new email account due to the fact the all my apps, music and itunes items are linked to my .icloud/.me account. but i dont want to recieve anymore .me emails... therefore i would like to know how can i get rid or just close my .me email account... thanks!!!!

Mail recieving but not sending on Yahoo account!

Hi,
I have had my Yahoo email set up and running fine through Mail for the last year or so. However for the last couple of days I can receive email's but not send them.
I have three yahoo accounts and it's the same on all three. I've tested the connection settings and they're all fine. I've even deleted the accounts from Mail and set them up again from scratch.
I get the following error:
*'Sending the message content to the server failed.*
*Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be delivered.'*
Anyone else getting this problem?

In order to prevent spam and address spoofing, some mail systems are now being set to disallow 'relay'
That is, sending to another host via an intermediate account.
Example: Your mail account is [email protected]
You are popping mail from [email protected] You get a message at your yahoo address from [email protected]
When you try to reply to the yahoo message from your host.com account, you are trying to use host.com as an intermediate to yahoo.com, which will in turn send the reply to [email protected]
you are thus asking host.com to relay a message from [email protected] to [email protected]
In reality, host.com has no idea who [email protected] is.
So it refuses to allow an unknown user from a foreign system to use it's mail server to send to a 3rd mail server. This is considered relay, and it's a favorite tactic for spammers.
That may be why you are told to "select a different outgoing server"

How to stop photos downloading to iPhone 4s but still upload to cloud

I've recently increased my storage on iCloud so that my full photo library from my iMac will be stored on iCloud. However iCloud is trying to download the full library to my iPhone 4s which just doesn't have the storage capacity and i don't want the full library on it anyway. Is there a setting to have all photos i take on the iPhone still upload to the iCloud but all the stored stuff NOT downloaded? Any help much appreciated.

Double tap Home button, delete Safari for multitask-bar.
Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History, Clear Cookies and Data.
(You can also turn off Accept Cookies)
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.

Outlook 2010 - Multiple Exchange Accounts - Won't send from second account

I've setup multiple exchange accounts in Outlook 2010. I receive fine for both accounts, but cannot send from second account. Sent email goes to the Outbox and stays there.
I've tried going back to a second profile, and it works fine. Mail in Outbox from efforts above stay in Outbox. If I pull them up, I can resend with no issue.
I need to be able to send with multiple accounts in same profile to do other projects I'm currently working on. Any ideas???

I was able to fix this with Outlook 2010 Service Pack 1.
Another area that I had to change was the inbox for that other account I created a rule to put in the primary inbox folder (email 2).
After that the email was only checking one to send and recieve based on the highlighted account, so to resolved that I went to Send/Reveive Groups > Define Groups > Edit Account Properties and made sure they refresh every 1 minute(s).

Someone is probably sending spam with your address forged on the To: line. Could be one of your old contacts with a Windows machine has a virus that's doing it. It's also possible your e-mail account has been hacked, though I'd think such a hacker would be a bit more purposeful.

I think your problems were solvable and not that the Sonnet card and 5,1 is not bootable, in fact the 5,1 is easier, there are more supported cards.
I have the 1,1 where the Sonnet Pro is recommended but for data only and are not bootable because of the 32-bit EFI firmware. NOT the 4,1 and 5,1. The 2008's are problem child and have a mix of PCIe 1.1 slots, first implementation of EFI64 that also has problems. Also the 4,1 has two PCIe 2.x slots 3 and 4 that share a controller but that simply limits bandwidth.
I would have left the TRIM support and NVRAM changes in Yosemite to a separate thread if you wanted to focus on the Sonnet Tempo Pro support in Mac Pro 2010-12 5,1s.
Also the make of SSD can vary and they also have their own firmware as do bootable controllers along with the EFI of the Mac, all of which have to work together. Meaning it might be that Samsung 840 va 840 EVO vs 840 Pro will all be slightly different but my experience is Samsungs work well (as do others like Crucial with the proper firmware - and there was/is an issue with the firmware of the Samsung 840 but not with booting).
The PCIe card gets seen and treated as external and therefore 'eject' but of course you can't when it is the system boot drive.
One thing I found last week and meant to mention: After installing or changing PCIe cards, RESET SMC made all the difference in the world with the long boot delay. Some PCIe cards will add a few seconds, system has to search the device tree which now shows another controller with multiple devices - and sometimes NVRAM and SMC are what I will call "dirty" and need to be rebuilt and reset.

Z10 Can Receive E-mails from POP Account But Cannot Send/Reply

I am getting seriously frustrated with the inability to send e-mail from this Z10 (bought on 3/28) through my POP account!
I have been able to set up and successfully send through a personal Gmail account but not my "work" POP account. Everything I have read in forums and discussed with my IP and Verizon Wireless points to a bug in the BB10 software. In BB7, even a POP account could be set up very simply and reliably. That was the beauty of BB - simple and reliable e-mail.
I am getting nowhere trying to find a fix or workaround. I reeeeeally wanted to believe that BB was back and that this would be a good phone for me, a BB fan (my third BB btw), but am just a day or two away from giving up and returning the thing. What good is a BlackBerry if you can't send e-mails???? Please help!

I have a similar problem. I have three email accounts and two work perfectly (a hosted server and a comcast). However, my Optonline email will not send out attachments or HTML when hitting Reply or Forward. The receiver sees the basic text response and the following (below). Optonline uses port 587 and i think POP, no SSL Optonline, BB and ATT are all looking at it, but no solution yet.

First, don't unsubscribe. This only tells the spammer that your email address is valid and they will send even more.
If this is only being sent from a few specific email addresses, you can set up a rules on icloud.com similar to the image below to send them to the trash. This describes how to set up a rule: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a3f8a.

I HAD two accounts because of this problem. I completely removed the problem account from the Apple Mail client. Guess what is happening?? That's right - Mail is still sending from the other account that no longer exists on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea how this is happening. This is incredibly frustrating. Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.
