How to store "a lot" of books?

Does storing a lot of books in your iPad slow it down any? Should I store them in iTunes only, and then download the select few that I'm currently reading? Or is storing them in "collections" in the iBooks library OK to do?

Storing a lot of books on your iPad does not slow it down. It takes up space on the iPad but it does not slow it down to store them on the iPad. It's OK to keep them on the device.
Do what you feel comfortable doing - if you accumulate that many and need storage space - transfer them to iTunes. If you have a few movies on the iPad, they account for a lot more space than books will.

For iMac please use USB or even better a FW800 or if you can afford it, a thunderbolt drive.. on your 2011 Mac.
Time Capsule is not a suitable place to store your files.
1. You will have no backup.
2. TC cannot back itself up, nor can Time Machine backup network drives.
3. Apple says specifically of iphoto not to store library on network drive.

4. Other libraries may not corrupt but will run very slowly. iTunes for example.
Please purchase the fastest drive out of the external ports you have available.. usb2 although the slowest is still faster than TC over gigabit. It is also more reliable. TC are not a noted reliable storage drive. It is designed as a backup location for TM files.

What do you mean by 'refusing from the system', if you are getting an error message then what does it say ?
For a credit card to have a chance of being accepted it needs to be registered to the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, and have been issued by a bank in the country where you and your iTunes account are. If it is and if you are getting a 'declined' message then you could check with the card issuer to see if it's them that are declining it, and if not then try contacting iTunes Support (these are user-to-user forums) and see if they know why it's being declined : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption
If when trying to download you are getting a message about a 'problem with a previous purchase' then that implies that iTunes wasn't able to collect the money for your last purchase. While in the Address Book press the Menu and than Options. Just type in RSET
(capital letters) and you'll be able to wipe out all your Desktops where the

Even if you could open Disk Utility you can't reformat a disk while you are booted from it. You will have to use the install CD. Hi i am creating a Recipe Cooking Book and i have got a recipe class, ingredient class, equipment class and jFORM GUI. the gui form will have a list and it will contain couple of equipments. the user should be able to select more than 1 equipments which would use the pass- by - value to the recipe class and it will be passed to equipment class.
The problem that encounter is that when i have to select multiple values from list, it should store all selected equipments to array.
This is where i am stuck as i don't know how to store couple of equipment at one creation.

Let me conclude what i am trying to do. Basically i want the user to select more than 1 equipments from the List and the user should also input other recipe data. once this is done, the should click on create.
when creating one recipe, u need more than 1 equipment so that created recipe should store selected equipments, which i will later on retrieve and display on screen.

equipment = aequipment;But, you are storing it as an Equipment array, so you'll need to loop over the Object array and cast each element to an Equipment reference, and store it into the Equipment array. Something like this:

Authorize your new computer's iTunes first - Store>Authorize this computer.
1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.

I asked a similar question once and the answer I got was - Don't.
Instead, store the images on a drive somewhere and store the path in the database.
But I'm no expert - that's just what I was told by someone who does this kind of stuff a lot.
