How to tell if my connect is a gigabit connection?

I have a WRT600N running on Vista SP1 and I know that I have a gigabit network card. But when I have it connected to the router, my network status icon only shows the connection is 100 Mps.
Does this mean that for some reason my connection speed isn't 1000 Mps? or is this just the way it is?
If so, is there a way to tell if you're really on a gigabit connection?
TIA

Hey try resetting the router reset button in such a way that power
light is blinking on the router & then do a complete network power
cycle i.e., unplug the power cables from the modem & from the router &
then plug in the power cable to the modem first once all the lights are
solid green you could plug in the power cable to the router & check out
it will definately work!!
Open the setup page of router using 192.168.1.1 then put in the
password as admin...all you need to do is do the wireless settings such
as Radio Band Frequency to Standard 20 MHZ frequency, channel to 11.
Also, the advanced wireless settings to Beacon Interval=50,Frag
thres=2306 & Rts thres=2307 & then uncheck a Block Anonymous Internet
Requests & it will definately work!!!

  • I had to get a new iphone and want to know how to tell if my pictures from my previous phone were backed up on itunes.  when i connect my c even if i'm going from a 4 to a 5s?

i had to get a new iphone and want to know how to tell if my pictures from my previous phone were backed up on itunes.  when i connect to itunes, does it automatically sync / backup even if i'm going from a 4 w/IOS 6 to a 5S w/IOS 7?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Yes you can probably delete the 2 incomplete back ups they are unlikely to work.
However, I'd be inclined to back up to a computer as well and restore from there, if you are changing your phone.

  • How to tell how a network printer is connected?

Sorry for the terrible subject line, but I'm really at a loss with this one.
I have a printer connected to my work network via Ethernet. The printer has a static ip address. When I upgraded to a new laptop and OS 10.5.5, I set up this printer, but I really don't recall how I set it up, but it worked over my Ethernet connection.
I often connect to the network over wireless or wired, and therein lies my problem. Today, I started to get printer errors telling me that AppleTalk was held by the Ethernet port so I had to turn it off of Ethernet and turn it on for the Airport connection when I attempted to print wirelessly. Once I did this, it worked. I never recall needing to to do this with the printer set up for IP printing with previous versions of OSX, which makes me think the printer is not configured as an IP printer. How can I tell how the printer is set up in OSX??
Lastly, I attempted to set the printer up as an IP printer anew (I did not remove the other version of the same printer in the preference pane) and this seems to be failing.
    Thanks for any input.

Hard to give much help since you've not provided any information on the network environment, routers, cable modem, switches, etc. No information on makes or models including the printer(s).
The only definitive thing I found is the mention of using AppleTalk. Unless you have a very old printer that requires AppleTalk there is no reason to turn on AppleTalk. Now beyond that I can't tell if turning off AppleTalk has now resolved your problem.
Most Ethernet based printers are configured as LPR printers, not IP printers, and you need the IP address you configured the printer to use. The printer's TCP/IP configuration should include the network's gateway IP address and the network mask. You set up the printer's TCP/IP usually from the printer's front panel unless it has a web-server built-in that you can access. The printer driver is selected and configured using the Print & Fax preferences. As for how you configured the printer in the past we have no way to know. You should have written it down somewhere. You will have to access the printer's front panel to figure that out. But then we can't help much since you've never told us what the printer model is.
You'll have to provide more information and be a bit more precise about the query so we can understand exactly what you are asking.

  • How to tell which node a session connects to in 9i RAC

I have a 6 nodes 9i RAC database. While running a process, how to tell which node it is connecting to?

    Hi,
    SQL> select inst_id, sid, username from gv$session ;
inst_id is the instance number a session is running on.
select from the v$instance view to know to instance number you are actually connect to
    SQL> select instance_number from v$instance ;
    INSTANCE_NUMBER
    1
note the the "g" before the view "v$session", that's for GLOBAL (all instances of the cluster) : check the views gv$parameter, etc...

  • Can some one please tell me what leads i need to connect my mac book pro to my tv

Hi i have a mac book pro can someone tell me what leads i need to connect it to my tv
    thanks scott

If your TV has HDMI, and if your MBP is compatible with this adapter, I highly recommend:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er
It sends the audio out through the mini DisplayPort into the HDMI cable, but only if your computer has that capability.  On that page, scroll down and look for a comment titled "How you know if it is supported w/o guessing."

  • How to tell if Im on AT&T?

Hey guys. I guess I live right on the edge of an area covered/not covered by at&t. I have noticed that my reception bars have changed from black and white to colored and I have even seen a E next to it. So my question is how do I make sense of the different colors or letters so I know if Im on AT&T or some other network?

how to tell if Im actually using at&T's own cell towers or a competitors.
You will never be using a competitor's towers. A competitor would be T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, etc. and you'll never connect to their networks. You may in some cases be using an AT&T partner. In this thread, one poster advised:
"To get an indicator when you are roaming on an AT&T partner network, call 611 and ask them to activate the (free) "Off Network Alpha Tag" on your account. If they ask why, tell them you want to be a good guy and observe the (usually unenforced) data limits while roaming."
    Hope that helps.

  • How to tell if REQ1 is set active high

Hi I am using the 6533 PCI-DIO-32HS card in a PC with traditional DAQ, looking at an existing design.  I could not find how to tell if REQ1 is set active high or low, guessing it would be set up in the DIO confg vi.

thanks for the additional information, yes will have to wait for the external hardware.  I did have a general question about the 6533 data and control line outputs using traditional DAC.  I think for this design it is set up as a pattern IO transfer using internal REQ and an internal clock set up as a VI input, (DIO START).  Anyhow I am monitoring the card outputs with a logic analyzer and it looks like an 8 element array (of 8 bit integers) is being used for the data input (to the DIO WRITE VI) with the first 4 elements being written out on DIOA0-A7, DIOB0-B7, DIOC0-C7, and DIOD0-D7 followed by the last 4 elements also written out to DIOA0-A7, DIOB0-B7, DIOC0-C7, and DIOD0-D7.  Anyhow it looks like the clock input to the (DIO Start VI) controls the pulse width of the data.  It looks like REQ1 goes high approximately 78 microseconds before the first 32 bits are written out followed by 5 microseconds of data (with the clock set at 200k), finally followed by the second data group (5 microseconds of data).  It then looks like REQ1 stays high for 2-4 ms after the second group of 32 bits is written out before going low.   Anyhow if you are trying to clock this data into a storage device I would expect to see rising clock edges when both the first and second group of data appear on DIOA0-A7..DIOD0-D7.  I monitored all the other control lines pclk1,2 ack1 and did not see signal levels other than 0, again I do not have the DIO card connected to anything except a logic analyzer.  Would you know if it is typical to use REQ1 as a clock input to a storage device or if this can be done?

  • [Forum FAQ] How to tell if the DAC port is automatically changed or not

    Introduction
    Per Books Online:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189595.aspx
SQL Server listens for the DAC on TCP port 1434 if available or a TCP port dynamically assigned upon Database Engine startup.
Also, we can go to the following registry to specify the DAC port number manually:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLib\AdminConnection\Tcp
The error log contains the port number the DAC is listening on. Besides looking at the error log, how to find which port is used by DAC connection and how to tell if the DAC port is manually set by us or assigned automatically by SQL Server?
    Solution
The following query can be used to check if there is an existing DAC connection and it also give us the port number used by dedicated admin connection.
    SELECT name,local_tcp_port FROM sys.dm_exec_connections ec
    join sys.endpoints e
    on (ec.endpoint_id=e.endpoint_id)
    WHERE e.name='Dedicated Admin Connection'
Here is the scenario to test if the DAC port is automatically changed or not.
There are two instances are running on one server. I specified the same DAC port number 5555 for the two SQL Server instances by modifying the registry
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLib\AdminConnection\Tcp
Opened the DAC connection to instance 1. Executed the above query, it returns the result:
    name
    local_tcp_port
    Dedicated Admin Connection               5555
Then, opened a DAC connection to instance 2. It throw out the following error message:
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0 : Client unable to establish connection because an error was encountered during handshakes before login.
Common causes include client attempting to connect to an unsupported version of SQL Server, server too busy to accept new connections or a resource limitation (memory or maximum allowed connections) on the server..
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0 : TCP Provider: An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine..
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0 : Client unable to establish connection.
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 11.0 : Client unable to establish connection due to prelogin failure.
The above error message was thrown out because the DAC port number 5555 was not available for instance 2 which was occupying by instance 1. After restarting the SQL Server engine service of instance 2, if checking in the registry, you would see a new DAC port
number has been assigned to the second instance.
Then, the DAC connection to instance 2 succeed this time and executed the above query, it returned the same port number which is same as the one in the registry key and the port number was assigned automatically.
DAC port will not change even SQL Server service is restarted only if the TCP port is available.

  • After downloading iTunes, it won't open stating need Internet connection. But already connected to Internet. Happened on 2 different computers. How can I resolve this?

After downloading iTunes,it won't open stating need Internet connection. Have Internet connection but program apparently doesn't recognize it. How can I resolve. This happened on 2 different computers.

If the modem is also a router, either use the modem in bridge and run pppoe client on the TC.. that is assuming ADSL or similar eg vdsl. If it is cable service.. and the modem is a router, then bridge the TC.. go to internet page and select connect by ethernet and below that set connection sharing to bridge.
Please tell us more about the modem if the above gives you issues.

  • How do I keep a meeting open on Adobe Connect continuously?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to keep a meeting open continuously on Adobe Connect? So that anyone could enter the meeting at anytime. Please help.

If you have the Named Organizer license, then the member of the Meeting Host group must be in the room and active. Active meaning that that user is focused on the room and the mouse is moving. I recall that Connect will close a room without activity for ~6-8 hours.
If you have the Concurrent User license, then anyone can come and go from a Meeting as needed.
The Named Organizer licensing is a license for an individual to run a meeting, where the Concurrent User license is a license for individuals to be in meetings.

  • How to tell AE CS6 to use bundled Mocha rather than Pro?

I recently upgraded my bundled Mocha from AE CS6 to Mocha Pro 4, but for some unknown reason, it won't let me export shape data in Mocha.  There seems to be no data at all, as even trying to paste in Notepad results in nothing.  Tracking data, however, works fine (both in AE and Notepad).
Since I cannot figure out any solution in Mocha, the only thing I can do is use bundled Mocha rather than Pro... but I do not know how to tell AE to use bundled Mocha rather than Pro when I click 'Track In Mocha' (...a setting which was changed when Pro was installed).
Does anyone know where/how I can switch it to Mocha bundled when you click on Track In Mocha?  (or, does anyone have any idea why Pro would not export shape data, whereas the same project in bundled Mocha did?)
If anyone has any answers or theories, please let me know ASAP, as I have a project I'm trying to complete, and (as luck always has it) the weekend is now upon us, and support is closed over the weekend.

I tried connecting MBP and TC via Ethernet - after verifying the settings that you suggested - and it does not work: if I turn Airport off, Time Machine says it can't find the TC
    Any other sugestions?
Ok, then ethernet is not getting an ip address from the TC and is plugged in wrongly..
You still didn't give me any idea of what actual model the linksys is.. and why is it in the network.. Is it a modem router?? If you have cable internet just throw it away and use the TC.
If you have the linksys as modem, then bridge it.. turn off wireless and run pppoe client on the TC.
If the ISP does not allow pppoe client mode then simply use the TC in bridge. Turn off all wireless in the linksys and just use the TC.
Still need info on how everything is setup to analyse the problem.

  • How to tell which app on N85 held up the connectio...

There are time the network connection indicator shows up no matter GPRS or 3G for no appearent reason, my phone drain battery quick especially when it is on 3G, but it seems no way to tell exactly what app is using the connection, or I can deal with it.

    Thanks for the response kps.
looks like you may want to use JButton<<I had tried JLabel and JButton but neither had a solution. I now know to use getSource which works
You are creating so many listener classes...whereas you need to have only one class and use the same object to register for all JButtons...<<Someone else has made the same point. I think I know what you mean by this, but am not sure how to implement.
    Thanks

  • Is it possible and how to find out what host, if any, is connected to a remote PXI prior to switching execution target programmatically or in devlopment environment?

Is it possible and how to find out what host, if any, is connected to a remote PXI prior to switching execution target programmatically or in devlopment environment?

This functionality is not available in LabVIEW RT. If you attempt to switch execution target to an RT controller already targetted by someone else, it will tell you too many hosts are connected and fail. Of course if it allows you to switch, then no one was connected. By attempting to switch execution target you can use the message above to determine if anyone is targetted or not, but if someone is, there is no way to determine who.
If you are concerned about this sort of thing, you might check the RT target options in LabVIEW RT to change the IP access list for hosts that are allowed to switch execution target to it.

  • How do I use my ipod after disabled message-connect to itunes.

My son set up a passcode on his ipod touch and forgot it. He tried several different passcodes and got locked out.  His ipod now has the message "ipod disabled, connect to itunes".  We followed the steps for recovery on apple support, but the only thing that happens is, the itunesicon shows up and we don't know where to go from here.  The closest sple store is 2 hours away and we are tyring to avoid having to go in. Does anyone know how we can fix this?

You have to connect it to iTunes on the computer it was synced with.
Once it shows in iTunes you will be able to back it up and restore.
