How to tell the difference between DRM (fairplay) music and non-DRM music?

Apple finally is selling non-DRM music and I've bought a couple songs in the past with ease. I like the system but I'm having a problem finding out which music is still using DRM.
Apple originally differentiated it by charging 30 cents more for the unprotected music. Now however they removed the surcharge, but there's no way to tell if the music I'm looking at is protected.
I choose not to buy DRMed music as I'm using my music to burn MP3 CDs for my car, and having to crack protection isn't the way I want to do it.
How can I tell using iTunes Store which music is DRM protected, and which music is DRM free?

Agreed, I have stopped buying from iTunes until they eliminate the restrictions, and have started replacing the songs I DID buy from iTunes with non copy protected ones from Amazon. I tell everyone not to buy from iTunes for exactly that reason. There are lots of other excellent options, which do not have the stupid restrictions that Apple has. The iPod is great, iTunes with DRM is incredibly annoying.

    For service stock you can't tell the difference between a new iPad and a refurbished one. Both will come in a plain brown box with the same pattern in model numbers. If you mean between a refurbished one and one new at retail, then other than the obvious difference in packaging, I've read that the model number on refurbished units starts with the letter "F", though I've not confirmed that.

  • How to tell the difference between 10w and 12w?

    We have:
    2 iPhone 5s
    1 iPad
    1 iPad 2
    1 iPad (4) with Retina
    I know that the iPhones use the smaller 5w charger, but how do I tell the difference between the iPad/iPad 2's 10w charger and the iPad 4's 12w charger? They look exactly the same.
    The iPad 4 takes forever to charge, so I want to make sure I am using the 12w - and I don't want to damage the older iPads by accidentally using the 12w.
    Thanks!

    Read the fine print on the charger. My iPad 2 10W charger says 5.1V 2.1A. A 12W charger should have a higher number for A.
    You can use the iPad 4 charger on your other devices, without damage, to charge them faster.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
    Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
    At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night.   • Can anyone tell the difference between USB 3.0 and 2.0?
    I have both a 8GB flashdrive 3.0 and 2.0. I got the 3.0 at office depot for $8.00 and 2.0 for the same price at best buy. I honestly can't tell the difference between the two. They both seem to be the same in speed. Is there really a difference?
    This is an interesting subject, I just recalled a MacWorld podcast I was listening to when the 3.0s were first hitting the market. A guest on the podcast was saying to think of it like a 'bottle neck' not so much as speed. With the 3.0 you can push more information through at any one time. So in the case of the hd movie senario, if you had multiple movies transfering at one time the 3.0 would be a lot faster than a 2.0.
    public static bool IsEmbeddedAttachment(Outlook.Attachment attachment)
    //Anexos que não são embedded são obrigatóriamente olByValue, porém os embedded podem ser de qualquer tipo
    if (attachment.Type != Outlook.OlAttachmentType.olByValue)
    return true;
    //Busca a propriedade contentID do anexo. Anexos embedded não precisam necessáriamente gerar um ContentID. Anexos fixos não geram ContentID
    string strATTACH_CONTENT_ID = attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x3712001E").ToString();
    //Busca a propriedade contentLocation. Para que o anexo seja embedded é necessario que essa propriedade esteja vazia ou nulla
    string strATTACH_CONTENT_LOCATION = attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x3713001E").ToString();
    if (!string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(strATTACH_CONTENT_ID) || !string.IsNullOrWhiteSpace(strATTACH_CONTENT_LOCATION))
    //Busca a propriedade AttachFlag se for diferente de 4 é uma imagem embedded
    if ((int)attachment.PropertyAccessor.GetProperty(@"http://schemas.microsoft.com/mapi/proptag/0x37140003") == 4)
    return true;
    return false;
    And was working very well until last week.
  • What is the difference between authorisation if-authenticated and none
    Hello,
    I am working on a AAA configuration, and can't determine the practical difference between authorisation none and authorisation if-authenticated.
    I realise the obvious difference, that if TACACS is down, with none there is no authorisation if none is used; and if TACACS is down authorisation will allow all commands if if-authenticated is used.
    However, since you must always be authenticated, before authorisation commences, in practical terms, there is no difference that I can see between if-authenticated and none? Can anyone please explain if there is a practical difference between them.
    #####################Authorisation if-authenticated#############
    aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
    aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
    aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ if-authenticated
    #####################Authorisation none##################
    aaa authorization exec default group tacacs+ none
    aaa authorization commands 1 default group tacacs+ none
    aaa authorization commands 15 default group tacacs+ none
    Many Thanks
    Ian Potts
    One use I can think of is where you have both AAA and local configured for exec or command authorization. Let's say TACACS+ in the following manner:
    aaa new-model
    aaa authentication login default tacacs+ local
    aaa authorization exec default tacacs+ if-authenticated
    username admin password
    If you had this configuration without the "if-authenticated" statement and the connection to the TAC+ server goes down or you receive an ERROR in communicating with it such as a mismatched key, then it goes to local for authentication. If you did not want to use local authorization and want it to succeed exec authorization for this local account, then the "if-authenticated" statement would be needed.
    Check out the debugs with:
    aaa new-model
    aaa authentication login default tacacs+ local
    aaa authorization exec default tacacs+ local
    AND the TAC+ server is down
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC (4150549846): Port='tty2' list='' service=EXEC
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (4150549846) user='admin'
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (4150549846): user=admin
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (4150549846): send AV service=shell
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR (4150549846): Post authorization status = ERROR
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (4150549846) Method=NOT_SET
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (4150549846) no methods left to try
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR (4150549846): Post authorization status = FAIL
    6d21h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: Authorization FAILED
    NOTE, Post authorization fails because there is no method set for EXEC for the local user. Now, put in "if-authenticated" and test again:
    aaa new-model
    aaa authentication login default tacacs+ local
    aaa authorization exec default tacacs+ if-authenticated
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC (2893174055): Port='tty2' list='' service=EXEC
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (2893174055) user='admin'
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (2893174055) send AV service=shell
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (2893174055) send AV cmd*
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC (2893174055) found list "default"
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (2893174055) Method=TACACS+
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (2893174055): user=admin
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (2893174055): send AV service=shell
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/TAC+: (2893174055): send AV cmd*
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR (2893174055): Post authorization status = ERROR
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: (2893174055) Method=IF_AUTHEN
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR (2893174055): Post authorization status = PASS_ADD
    6d22h: AAA/AUTHOR/EXEC: Authorization successful
    Note, the Post authorization passes because of IF_AUTHEN.
    See the behavior?
    Hope this helps.
  • How to tell the difference between ibook and ibook g4 screens?
    Hi, I've got a faulty screen on my ibook g4, and have spent the last month or so trying to find a second hand replacement one.
    I recently bought a screen on ebay, but when I received it, it only said 'iBook' on the front, not 'iBook G4' as my current one does. I replied to the seller to complain that he sent me a g3 screen, but he insists it's G4.
    Before I take it any further, can anyone confirm whether it is possible that this is actually a g4 screen, even though there is no mention of G4 on it?
    Here is a picture(http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=120281147959&ssPageNam e=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=002#ebayphotohosting)
    Thanks, Nick
    As far as I have encountered, the 12" screens are cross compatible between the G3 and G4 iBooks. The LCD screens - not the cable harnesses. You can take the LCD from the G3 screen and replace the one from the G4.
    Now, with the 14" iBooks, the high end (1.33 and 1.42 GHz models) G4 iBooks use a screen that is not cross-compatible with earlier G4 or G3 models.
    So, while you cannot swap the entire screen assembly between the g3 and G4, the LCD panels are largely swappable. The screen bezel and frame are also swappable.
  • How can I tell the difference between a 7320 CE and a 4630 CDM ?
    Hello, I have just taken delivery of what is supposed to be a 7320 Content Engine, however, there is a slight problem, th grill at the front states that it is
    a CDM4630!!!! A look at the rear shows the same slots/config as a 7320 and
    is labeled as a ce7320. A show version states that it is a ce7320-4.2.1.
    It looks like the wrong front panel has been applied but is there a sure fire
    way of confirming this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Darren
    From your comments, I guess that the device is a CE-7320 with a front panel mismatch. You could use the data sheets that you get with the product to verify the slots and since the show version indicates that it a CE-7320, I believe it should be one. The product overview is available at:
  • Difference between a persistent messages  and non persistent messages in JM
    Hi
    This question is with respect to persistent messages , and non persistent messages .
    As per the docs it says that for persistent messages the QueueSender.send() blocks until it recivies an acknowledgement .
    Here my question is what is the difference between a persistent messages , and non persistent messages
    Thanks in advance .
    The exact behaviour depends on the JMS provider being used. But since non-persistent messages are defined to be unreliable, the provider may indeed decide that it's not necessary for the server to acknowledge the receipt of a non-durable message from a producer.
