How to terminate BCK ground jobs permanently

Hi all,
I have 2 jobs which are triggering every 3 mins as a background job and i have no clue about what these jobs are, it so happens that sometimes they take very long time to complete, and because of which the server acts slow during the DAILY TRACTION TIME line (main business hours).
The follwoing are the background jobs....
POS_CHG_PTR_OB_20 and POS_CHG_PTR_OB_10
FYI our landscpe is 2 system (DEV(sid: RT1) and PRD(sid:RT2)) and we also have XI DEV and XI PRD servers as this is a retail project.
I assume that these 2 bckgrd jobs send in data to the XI system from our R/3 PRD server, but no sure.
Now my point is can i DELETE THESE jobs permanently or not, if YES then how to cancel them.
ECC 6.0, Oracle 10G and AIX (DEV and PRD servers)
ECC 6.0, Oracle 10G and Win 2003 (XI DEV and XI PRD)
I highly appreciate if anyone can feed in some help and info on this..

Hi
go to SM37 --> enter the job name POS_CHG_PTR_OB_* --> check Released check box --> Execute
You will be seeing jobs in release status . Select the job and from Menu --> Job --> " Released --> Scheduled " , do the same for second job . Now the job status is changed to scheduled so it wont start every 3 mins. After detail analysis if you see this job isnt required you can delete it. Get the required approval if necessary

1)Go to Sm37
2) Give the job name and in user give as *
3)press execute or f8
4) Press job log in the screen..keep refreshing it for update
5)Press job detaisl..get pid no and wp no..in it
6) go to sm50/51
check for given wp no... and pid no..job is running or waiting or not
sm66
1)go to sm66
2)in sm66 you can see only the central instance job running in
3)You cant find any application server in it

How to terminate the next job step in Background job?

Hi,
I have the requirement from the user that want to terminate the next job step in the background job that currently running (Status Active).
For example, Background Job A, contains 5 job step, once the background is running, we would like Job A not run thru job step 4 and 5, just run up to job step 3.
Anyone have any idea how can I do that?

Hi,
Try to delete instead of cancel in SM37.
To cancel and active job, select the job from SM37 and Click on STOP button in application toolbar. You can refer to your other thread for more info.

there is a system variable sy-batch which recognises if the job is running in background or not..
OPEN DATASET p_file FOR OUTPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
IF sy-subrc NE 0.
MESSAGE e001(zsd_mes).
EXIT.
ELSE.
*---Data is downloaded to the application server file path
LOOP AT it_tab2 INTO wa_tab2.
TRANSFER wa_tab2 TO p_file.

How to define front-ground job

Hi
I know to use SM36 to define background job. but there is some formal problem if we run ABAP rerport in background. So, I want define a job in front-ground at night.
anybody can tell me that how to define a job in front-ground at night!

It sounds as if you need to change the print format settings so the report will fit on the page, or remove columns from the report.
You can change the print specifications in SM37 via the "Print specifications" push-button in the job step creation dialog. In the "Background print parameters" pop-up, select your printer and then the "Properties" push-button. That leads to a pop-up where you can change the print format i.e. the number of columns printed on the page.

Goto SM36, here you can create your own jobs and schedule them accordingly.

Hai SAP ABAP/BASIS Gurus,
I am currently taking ME2N PO Pending value Report by setting variant in input screen & setting my own output layout ie only four field ie.Plant, Material,Currency,Still to be delivered value will be visible in output screen
I set Back ground in sm36 using my variant & i saw my output in sm37.. But I cant get output as my desired field..
This is my problem..
1) I Cant Get the Same output in shedule job [sm36 & sm37] like When i run in foreground for ME2n.
I am using ALV Scope of list..
2) If I use BEST Layout in Scope of list means i get the desired Output field layout as same as my foreground output field..
I want to get the output layout as desired & also in ALV format[ Useful for excel work]
Kindly guide me.

Hi Swetha,
To get the missed fields in the spool, while creating the background job(execute in background option) you can see the printer setting block at the end of the background job settings window, in that check the 'Spool Request Max. Width 255 char' check box and then continue. It will generate the spool list with maximum width and you can see all the fields in the spool output.

when i check through sm37 i found that there is one job schedule on hourly period & showing status Cancel,.,

Hi,
The job is getting cancelled because the login BASIS with which the job is scheduled is failing to start it and this might because the ID is locked or password expired. Kindly check that to resolve the issue. But, if you want to delete the job then do it as said above by selecting the job with scheduled or released status.

As per My requirement I have a Search View and Result View
In Search View I have Below Fields

In the Result List we may have all types of Claims which are status in "Submitted" "Pending" "Rejected" "Approve".
I need to collect all records from Result list and validate Those Records who's Status in "Submitted
1)Sort all the claims based on ITC Vendor ID.
2)Grouped all the submitted claims against each ITC Vendor ID from the search result
3)Change the status of the selected submitted claims to Approved.
4)Displays information messages as mentioned whenever a claim is approved, the same message will be captured in the job log.
‘Claims <ClaimID 1>,…<ClaimID N> now approved for ITC Vendor ID’.
5)Sending Email to each IRC.
6)Capture all the approved claims in the below format (Format Attached "Screen Shot Attachment")
7)Store the file in the Application Server AL11 in .csv format

On SM37 screen there is plenty of options are there:
This is what i got from SAP help
Explanation for each selection field:
o   Jobname: Name of the job as an identifier.
o   Username: Name of the user who designed and planned the job.
o   Start date: The start condition of the job, which could be a time
frame or an event that the job is waiting for. Specifying both will
yield jobs whose starting condition is either of the two
conditions.
ABAP program step: Name of an ABAP program that acts as a step in a
job.
Status selection: The current status of the job. By default, the
SCHEDULED option is not marked. To see the scheduled jobs, you must
explicitly check this.
also give the proper values in Job Satus also.

Hi,
In order to download a file from application layer to a local file in background,
first write a report(ZREPORT1) in which do the following steps:
OPEN DATASET g_file_1 FOR INPUT IN TEXT MODE ENCODING DEFAULT.
loop the g_file and append all the data into another internal table.
end of this report you shd have all the data in the application layer file into your internal table.
Now create another report(ZREPORT2) and submit this report in background.
that is,
JOB_OPEN
JOB_SUBMIT and
JOB_CLOSE
and in job_submit submit ZREPORT1 which downloads the file in application layer.

Robert,
Just though of sharing the alternate way to do this work, instead of DELETE use CHANGE option.
1. Execute transaction SM37 for the program "RMMRP000" and Job name what you have specified with job status "Scheduled" check box activated. Job Overivew screen appears
2. Now select the job in the Job Overivew screen and use Menu bar: Job--->Change or Ctrl+F11. Change Job Screen appears
3. In the change Job screen Hit the function button Start Condition (Green Flag). Start time screen appears.
4. In the Start time screen define your Job schedule and save the time parameters and save change job screen. Now your job is scheduled with new parameters what you have entered.
