How to transfer DW preferences from CS4 to CS5?

I've installed Dreamweaver CS5 before uninstalling DW CS4 hoping that it will import all my customisations and settings.
The list of sites was transferred, but none of the keyboard shortcuts, panels, etc.
How can I import/transfer my settings? Any help appreciated.

Hi,
hope it's not too late:
1. you could store site setting(s) as *. ste.
2. Dreamweaver stores all site settings, self-created code fragments, installed extensions in a directory, on my harddisk it's the following path which is of interest (sorry, I have to translate from my German hard-disk):
C:\Documents and Settings\user-name\Application Data\Dreamweaver CS4\..(de_De)..\Configuration\SiteCache and for example "\snippets" and so on.
That means within the "Site Cache" you'll find there also all the other settings you have saved. You could copy the complete  "Configurations" folder into your CS5 (Of course you have to save the new CS5 "Configurations" folder before.
I remember there is also a small backup tool, which allows you to save the settings quickly, but I don't have the link to hand, at the moment.

  • Preferences from CS4 to CS5

Is there an easy way to move all my preferences such as; actions, keyboard short-cuts, workspaces, etc. from my CS4 to Cs5?

Actions and other presets are pretty easy, just drag 'em over from your previous version. Preferences, Workspaces are bit more tricky as they're not always compatible with the newer version.

  • Changing preferences from CS4 to CS5?

At work my company has Master Collection CS4 installed and Master Collection CS5 also installed. I need to figure out how to make it recognize that CS5 is my default. Whenever I open a PSD it always opens in CS4. I don't see anywhere inside Photoshop to change the settings there and even using the option to choose a new defualt program to open file returns CS4. So even going in, manually selecting the CS5 folder and that Photoshop.exe does nothing.
I can open Photoshop CS5 and open files from within but it's really annoying in those situations where I'm already in the folder and just want to click the file and have it open.

Hmmm. I tried that and all values are not set. I can't get CS4 to dissappear from the "Choose new program" list and I can't add CS5. Navigating within that section to the CS5 Photoshop.exe file does nothing. It's as if they both are called Photoshop.exe and despite different folders Windows thinks I'm trying to open the same thing it already has suggested.
Looks like I'm going to have to uninstall CS4. I don't know why we have both instances but I don't think I will ever use CS4.

  • Transfering a file label from CS4 to CS5

I have photos in Bridge CS4 that are labeled in colors.  I did change the name of the label from, e.g. Red to Printed, in CS4.  When I open the folders that contain the photos in Bridge CS5 the label color is white.  Is there a way to transfer the colors from CS4 to CS5???

In actual fact a label is just text. If you changed the "red" label in CS4 to "Printed" then you will have to make the same change in CS5. If the label text of the image does not match what was defined in the Bridge preferences then the label colour shows as white.

  • How to transfer printer settings from one Mac to another (both OSX)?

Hello, I have not found a detailed description on how to transfer printer settings from one Mac to another.
My issue is that I have a Mac G5 with 3 different settings saved as "presets" for the same printer. This works great, since the posters I print (on the large format printer) need different margins and different paper at times.
This G5 is basically retired and only used for printing. G5 has OSX 10.3.9
I have a MacPro as its replacement (OSX 10.4.11).
The MacPro has all my apps and other settings setup to my liking.
I found several links via Google saying copy this folder or directory, but I am not sure I did it correctly. I don't see the "presets".
I tried launching the Migration Assistant (I hope that's the correct name), but was concerned the settings on the new MacPro would be overwritten with ALL the old stuff on the older G5. I did not start the transfer process because of this.
If someone would list the steps needed to accomplish the transfer of printer settings or advise if this is possible, then I would be very grateful! The previous user of the G5 I am using was a "Genius" and I don't know how he created these "preset" choices.
    Thanks!

Hi SCChelpdesk, and a warm welcome to the forums!
I found several links via Google saying copy this folder or directory, but I am not sure I did it correctly. I don't see the "presets".
This is the File that holds that info on Tiger, not certain on Panther...
    /Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.custompresets.plist
After moving, you very well might have to change the Owner's Permissions within Get Info window, then log out/in.
I tried launching the Migration Assistant (I hope that's the correct name), but was concerned the settings on the new MacPro would be overwritten with ALL the old stuff on the older G5. I did not start the transfer process because of this.
MA would transfer the info, but/and, if the user that had that info had the same Shortname as on the new one, it'll demand you give it a new Shortname to use... but then those settings would be transferred to that new user on the new machine. I think the 1st one will work though.
The previous user of the G5 I am using was a "Genius" and I don't know how he created these "preset" choices.
We can go through that way if you like... not all that hard.

  • How to Transfer the iPhone from one computer to another Win XP

    All
I got my wife a new macbook pro, running Windows XP prof. She has an iphone 3G with 16 GB memory running 3.0.1. So..she wanted to transfer the sync function from her PC to her macbook. Of course, Apple was of NO help at all (but did want to charge us $69.95 since her iphone is out of warranty, and this was an iphone not a mac problem, hmmm..). Took me lots of digging, but here is how you transfer you iphone from one computer to another:
    1. Move you itunes library from the old computer to the new one. To do this, you do NOT just copy it. This is as good a link to use as any to see how to do it, but search the internet and you can find instructions:
    http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-12519_7-10242259-49.html
    2. Transfer your applications you have purchased to the new computer. To do this, open itunes in the new computer, hook up your phone and click on File>transfer purchases (from itunes store) to computer. This will move your applications to the new computer.
    3. Export your MS outlook calendar, contacts, notes, etc. to the new computer by saving each of these categories as a PST file (file>export>then choose the category and type of file)...and then copy these PST files to your new computer and import them into MS outlook.
    4. Copy your playlists from itunes on your old computer to your new computer. This link may be helpful or search the internet again if you need to:
    http://osx.tribe.net/thread/08fd0e5e-f1d0-450b-8de5-9f7cb5bd278d
    5. Now...the important part...how to transfer all your settings from the iphone to the new computer....this is the part that was hard to find online, but finally got it: NOTE: THE BACKUP THAT ITUNES MAKES BACKS UP THE APPLICATION SETTINGS BUT NOT THE APPS SO THIS IS WHY YOU NEED TO TRANSFER THE APPS TO THE NEW COMPUTER. The settings have all the data you put into your apps, email settings, preferences, etc...so its a huge time save to transfer these to the new computer also.
-Sync your iphone with your old computer to have a backup in case you mess up...in that case you can restore from your old computer and start over
-Plug your iphone into the new ocmputer and start itunes. It will detect your phone (I assume you have already authorized your new computer to use the library and playlists and apps that you moved)
-Right click on the "iphone" on the left bar...you will see a popup menu...click on "BACKUP". Let it backup your iphone to the new computer. It will NOT sync the phone
-When the backup is done....copy the backup file to a temp directory to be safe. The backup is located in "documents and settings">user name>applications>apple computer>mobile sync. If you cannot see it, you need to open windows explorer (not internet explorer) and go to tools>folder options>view and click on "show hidden files and folders" Note YOU CANNOT JUST COPY THE BACKUP FROM THE OLD COMPUTER TO THE NEW COMPUTER AS SUGGESTED ON SOME WEB SITES...THIS DOES NOT WORK, ITUNES WILL NOT IDENTIFY THE BACKUP EVEN IF YOU PUT IT IN THE FOLDER IN THE NEW COMPUTER THAT MIRRORS THE FOLDER LOCATION IN THE OLD COMPUTER.
-OK now you are ready...click restore on the iphone and restore the phone to factory settings. This will happen in a few minutes (10-15 mins).
-The phone will reboot and itunes will recognize the phone again...as a restored phone. It will then ask you if you want to restore it from the backup..say YES. You then need to go through all the itunes tabs and click on everything you want to sync to the phone (playlists, movies, podcasts, ringtones, etc). Once you are done going thru the tabs click "apply" and the sync will start. Go out, to a movie, to bed, whatever because it will take hours to sync.
-Once the sync is done...voila...your iphone has been moved with ALL the settings to the new computer. Check it. Then you can delete the backup you put into the temp folder if it is OK
    -Deauthorize your old computer
This worked for Win XP...should work for Vista. The whole process took many hours so don't rush through it (i'm guessing 12 hours total work).

  • How I transfer the music from iTunes to the computer?

    Hi
I was wondering, how I transfer the music from iTunes to the desktop computer?
I would like that as back up on another device.

I am assuming you have a PC - not a Mac.
In iTunes on your PC go to Edit>Preferences>Advanced
This will tell you the location of your iTunes Media Folder on your PC.
Now go to that location using Windows Explorer and click on the Music folder within it.   All your music should be found there

    Hi Friend,
You need to connect your iPhone in your computer and open iTunes.
    1. Place your rintones file (.m4r format, up 30 seconds) to a designated area (e.g. desktop)
    2. Import your ringtones file into your LIBRARY, NOT directly into your iphone.
    3. "TONES" or "RINGTONES" icon will appear on the left hand column under LIBRARY. (You should see Ringtones there. If not..... Click Edit --> Preferences --> General Icon Ensure that Ringtones is checked.  If not, check it then click OK…)
    4. Drag your ringtones file from your LIBRARY into your iphone.
    5. "TONES" or "RINGTONES" icon will appear in your iphone under devices (the tab where Summary, Info, Apps, etc are located)
    6. Click Under "TONES" or "RINGTONES" (as mentioned in Fifth) and tick SYNC tones.
    7. Look inside your iphone... and there it is

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

  • How to transfer sales bom from SAP R/3 to APO?

    Hi Experts,
I just want to ask how to transfer sales bom from R/3 to APO? if i change my bom usage to 5 and use this BOM in my Production version be enough to send it to APO?
Also, this is my first time using sales bom, could you please help me understand how sales bom work in APO planning?
    Thanks so much.
    Mylene

    Hi Senthil,
Thanks again for your reply. I was trying to CIF sales BOM in APO but only the header material are being created in APO. The component are not added in PDS. This is how I create it in SAP R/3:
    1. transaction cs01 -->  enter header material, plant and BOM USAGE =5
    2. inside cs01, i entered components, quantity for each components and ITEM category = L (stock item)
i also eneterd base quantity for header material
    3. create production version for header material with routing and this BOM
    4. create and activate material CIF model for header and components
    5. create and activate PDS CIF model for header and components.
After doing all these steps, PDS is created in APO but I only have the header material (no components)
I tried changing BOM to other bom usage and components were populated in PDS.
Am i missing nay steps?  Thanks.
    Regards,
    Mylene

Per the turorials, this is suppose to occur automatically.
In the rare event that it does not, forced by lack of support through Adobe or the forums, I am relagated to resolve my problem the old fasjion way. Guessing at a solution of dragging and dropping (risking overwritting current the newer LR5 files (careful now).
