How to send error message to forms from Database Trigger
Hi, Please help me to send error message to forms from Database Trigger?
RgDs,
Madesh.R.MYou are correct, the On-Error trigger is a Forms trigger. However, if your Form is going to display the error generated by the database stored procedure or trigger - you might not see the database error in your Form unless you check the DBMS_ERROR_CODE in the On-Error trigger and manually display the Error Code and associated Text. I've see this happen with a co-worker. The Form she was working on was based on a table with an Before-Insert trigger. Because she was not explicitely handling the error from the Before-Insert trigger in the Forms On-Error trigger, her Form appeared to halt for no reason at all. Once she added code to the On-Error trigger in the Form to handle the DBMS_ERROR_CODE, she discovered the trigger was producing an error and was able to show the error to the user in the On-Error trigger.
I understand the desire to keep as much as possbile in the database, but with that comes some extra coding in your Forms to handle this. This extra coding could easily be placed in a Forms Library, attached to a Form and called in the On-Error trigger. Your code could look like this:
DECLARE
/*This example assumes you have an Alert defined
in your Form called: 'ERROR' */
al_id ALERT;
al_text VARCHAR2(200); /* Max text of a Forms Alert message*/
al_btn NUMBER;
BEGIN
IF DBMS_ERROR_CODE != 0 THEN
/* Error code is ORA-00000 Normal Successful completion
So only handle non-zero errors */
al_text := DBMS_ERROR_CODE||':'||DBMS_ERROR_TEXT;
al_id := Find_Alert('ERROR');
set_alert_property(al_id, alert_message_text, al_text);
al_btn := show_alert(al_id);
END IF;
END;Your original question was "How to send error message to forms from Database Trigger?" The answer is you don't because Forms already gets the database error code and database message through the Forms DBMS_ERROR_CODE and DBMS_ERROR_TEXT functions. Look these up in the Forms help and it should clear things up for you.

How do I creat a filliable form from a scan document?
How do I create a fillable form from a scan word document using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro?
Hi melaniev10032955,
You might need to follow these steps to convert word into fillable PDF form:
Open the scanned word document
Click File> Print> Adobe PDF
A PDF file would be created that would automatically open in Acrobat XI pro
At this point, you would have a basic PDF file which still needs to get converted into fillable form
Choose "Tools> Text Recognition> In this File" to run OCR to make your scanned doc searchable.
Now, go to "Tools> Forms> Create"
Acrobat will ask some questions. On the first screen, make sure 'Use an existing file' is selected and then click Next.
On the next screen, 'Use the current document' must be selected.
You might need to edit few fields manually. Then, just click Preview button on the top and check how you PDF form appears.
Try this out and let me know if you face any problem.

How do I create a fillable form from an existing document (PDF, Word, etc)?
In Acrobat 11 you'd select: Tools > Forms > Edit
to go into form editing mode. You'll see the tools that are available, thought it may prompt you to autodetect the fields. I usually don't do this, preferring to create them myself. -
How do I copy a few lines from a pdf document to a Word document?
I'm not looking to convert the whole document, just need to copy a few lines here and there.
ps. Wow, what a user UNFRIENDLY site this is!In most cases you can just select the text and copy/paste. You can do that unless the file is a picture/scan.

I've created a PDF form using Adobe acrobat. I created the forms from a PDF that I made using pages and word on Mac running Mountain lion. How do I allow the user of the form to insert JPEG files when filling out the form and how do I allow the user to add more fields or groups of fields as needed.
The type of form yo're describing is possible if you create it in LiveCycle Designer. It may also be possible in Acrobat, but there are certain restrictions. The type of form is known as a dynamic XFA form. LiveCycle Designer is not available on the Mac, so you'd have to install the software on a Windows machine and learn how to create this type of form. The LiveCycle Designer forum here is a good resource for getting more help.
Reader 11 now supports creating new pages using templates with a form that you create in Acrobat (Acroform). This requires some JavaScript programming. It also adds support for using a button to display a page from a PDF, which can be an image or anything else a PDF can be. So the user would click a button, be prompted to import a page from an existing PDF, and the button (or a different button) displays it as its icon. This would require the user to convert the image to PDF first, which is relatively easy these days (e.g., using Preview on the Mac, or Word on Mac/Windows). This too involves a bit of JavaScript programming, but it's very simple and straightforward. -

Hi Edit Converted Word Doc,
What's happening when you try to edit the file? Have you tried triple-clicking in the text block that you want to edit?
Please let us know what sort of trouble you're running into. It would also be helpful to know how the PDF file was created, and what version of Word you're using.
Best,

How do you extract non consecutive pages from a pdf document?
I see its easy to do it with consecutive pages by highlighting thumbnails then 'extract' but this does not allow for non consecutive pages.
Thank youAfter highlighting the pages you can drag them and drop them somewhere,
like on the desktop, and a new file will be created with just those pages.
If highlighting the pages is not feasible, or too tricky to do, then a
script can be used where you specify which pages to extract and the script
extract them to a new file. -

How do I extract an audio file from a PDF in Pro? (Mac)
How do I extract an audio file from a PDF in Pro? (Mac) . Properties say it's a .m4a file.
ThanksHi Tim,
That isn't a supported feature. If the PDF is unsecured and you have the legal rights to extract the audio, it would be possible to locate and decompress the raw file data from the PDF file using third-party tools to read the low-level file structure (a hex editor or Cos editor) - but Acrobat can't help you.

How to fill out POST HTML forms from my Java Application?
Hi -
I am writing a little Java GUI program that will allow a user to fill out data from the GUI and then submit that data. When they submit the data (two text fields) I want to take the two text fields and submit them via the POST form method of a HTML document over the web.
Here is what I got so far:
host = new URL("http", "<my_address>", web port, "/query.html");
InputStream in = host.openStream();
BufferedInputStream bufIn = new BufferedInputStream(in);
for (;;)
int data = bufIn.read();
// Check for end of file
if (data == -1)
break;
else
System.out.print ( (char) data);
}What that code does is makes a URL, opens a stream, and reads the HTML source of the file at the specified URL. There is a form that submits data via the POST method, and I would like to know how to write data to specific forms and specific input types of that form.
Then, I'd like to be able to read the response I get after submitting the form.
Is this possible?
Thanks,Here is how one of my e-books go about Posting
I tryied in one of my projects and it works ok
(Tricks of the Java Programming Gurus)
There's another reason you may want to manipulate a URLConnection object directly: You may want to post data to a URL, rather than just fetching a document. Web browsers do this with data from online forms, and your applets might use the same mechanism to return data to the server after giving the user a chance to supply information.
As of this writing, posting is only supported to HTTP URLs. This interface will likely be enhanced in the future-the HTTP protocol supports two ways of sending data to a URL ("post" and "put"), while FTP, for example, supports only one. Currently, the Java library sidesteps the issue, supporting just one method ("post"). Eventually, some mechanism will be needed to enable applets to exert more control over how URLConnection objects are used for output.
To prepare a URL for output, you first create the URL object just as you would if you were retrieving a document. Then, after gaining access to the URLConnection object, you indicate that you intend to use the connection for output using the setDoOutput method:
URL gather = new URL("http://www.foo.com/cgi-bin/gather.cgi");
URLConnection c = gather.openConnection();
c.setDoOutput(true); Once you finish the preparation, you can get the output stream for the connection, write your data to it, and you're done:
DataOutputStream out = new DataOutputStream(c.getOutputStream());
out.writeBytes("name=Bloggs%2C+Joe+David&favoritecolor=blue");
out.close();
//MY COMMENT
//This part can be improved using the URLEncoder
//******************************************************You might be wondering why the data in the example looks so ugly. That's a good question, and the answer has to do with the limitation mentioned previously: Using URL objects for output is only supported for the HTTP protocol. To be more accurate, version 1.0 of the Java library really only supports output-mode URL objects for posting forms data using HTTP.
For mostly historical reasons, HTTP forms data is returned to the server in an encoded format, where spaces are changed to plus signs (+), line delimiters to ampersands (&), and various other "special" characters are changed to three-letter escape sequences. The original data for the previous example, before encoding, was the following:
name=Bloggs, Joe David
favoritecolor=blue If you know enough about HTTP that you are curious about the details of what actually gets sent to the HTTP server, here's a transcript of what might be sent to www.foo.com if the example code listed previously were compiled into an application and executed:
POST /cgi-bin/gather.cgi HTTP/1.0
User-Agent: Java1.0
Referer: http://www.foo.com/cgi-bin/gather.cgi
Accept: text/html, image/gif, image/jpeg, *; q=.2, */*; q=.2
Content-type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded
Content-length: 43name=Bloggs%2C+Joe+David&favoritecolor=blue
Java takes care of building and sending all those protocol headers for you, including the Content-length header, which it calculates automatically. The reason you currently can send only forms data is that the Java library assumes that's all you will want to send. When you use an HTTP URL object for output, the Java library always labels the data you send as encoded form data.
Once you send the forms data, how do you read the resulting output from the server? The URLConnection class is designed so that you can use an instance for both output and input. It defaults to input-only, and if you turn on output mode without explicitly setting input mode as well, input mode is turned off. If you do both explicitly, however, you can both read and write using a URLConnection:
c.setDoOutput(true);
c.setDoInput(true); The only unfortunate thing is that, although URLConnection was designed to make such things possible, version 1.0 of the Java library doesn't support them properly. As of this writing, a bug in the library prevents you from using a single HTTP URLConnection for both input and output.
//MY COMMENTS
When you doing URL encoding
you should not encode it as one string becouse then it will encode the '=' signes and '&' signes also
you should encode all the field names and values seperatly and then join them using '&'s and '='s
Ex:-
public static void addField(StringBuffer sb,String name, String value){
if (sb.length()>0){
sb.append("&");
sb.append(URLEncoder.encode(name,"UTF-8"));
sb.append("=");
sb.append(URLEncoder.encode(value,"UTF-8"));
