How to undo OCR on a PDF

I have a PDF that I made from a paper scan using my Fujitsu ScanSnap. Then I ran Acrobat's OCR on it. I then deleted the original unOCRed PDF and threw away the original book I had scanned. Now I've discovered that my B&N Nook e-reader tries to display the OCR text instead of the images of the PDF if it finds text. The text is OK to use for searching, but the OCR is not good enough to use as a primary source. I would like to somehow delete the text from the doc and save an image-only version. However, when I try highlighting all the text behind the images in the document and deleting it, it gets an active horizontal line through it but does not erase it. This seems like it should be so easy but it is so hard. Any ideas?

Both Acrobat 8 and 9 provide the Examine Document feature.
This feature will identify the presence of hidden text such as that provided by OCR output from Searchable Image and Searchable Image (Exact). The feature may be used to remove this hidden text.
It works rather well (I've used it many times).

I created a link by highlighting text and when I click on it, it takes to me where I want. However, I am having a hard time undoing the link. I tried right clicking, but no luck. I tried opening a pdf file and I set it to use always and firefox which did not work, I was wondering how to undo that and what I should use to open pdf files in the future?

I was attempting to open a document from a frequently used site, I had never been on, on my new mac however. I attempted to open the pdf file and was given the option of which program to use to open it, I mistakenly clicked use always and firefox as the program with which to open pdf files. I do not know how to undo this or what I should do in the future to access the pdf files.

How do I scan & save a PDF in just ONE step? I can easily scan a document to an OCR'd PDF, but it does not seem to save it until I manually select "save". Seems there should be a way to set up scans to a particular folder destination, with a naming convention & auto numbering, such as YYYYmmDD-0001, YYYYmmDD-0002, etc. I've looked thru the Create>PDF form scanner>configure presets, and no such item seems to exist. There IS a "add to existing document", but that's not what I want to do. I just want to select "scan", and have it create an OCR'd PDF file in a folder.

You can achieve this via Action wizard. Auto Numbering is not possible however you can combine Scan and Save As in one action.
Click Tool>Action Wizard
Create New Action
See screenshot and set the options that i have highlighted in blue

Consistenly "too many arguments" when OCR any scanned PDF file in Adobe Acrobat 9.2

Hi,
plz see attached file for a 2 page sample. I have purchased AA9 to get better OCR (clearscan). Before, we were using AA6, which sometimes crashed, but not consistently.
However, AA9 (9.2.0) now always crashes with the same error "too many arguments" after finishing of the OCR. All pages turn completely white. Saving them causes the contents to be gone permanently and even happened with batch OCR.
OCRing on http://www.cvisiontech.com/online-conversion/general/main.html works fine, but that product we have not yet purchased.
Does anyone have an idea what might cause this and how to resolve it?
The PDF-s have been generated by HP Digital Sender and Canon scanner/printer MF9170. Both types of scans give the same result.

There is no virus protection or spy protection on this PC. It runs the following:
Windows Server 2003 x64 SP2
The file gives the error both on my local disk and on my (Samba) network disk.
As far as tested all scans give the same error at the end of the scanning process. Might it be related to x64 handling from a x32 program?

If you have Acrobat, you can create a PDF from a scan by selecting: File > Create > PDF from Scanner
This is for Acrobat 11. Previous version of Acrobat have something similar.
In order for Acrobat to be able to automatically add form fields, you will have to at least perform OCR on the PDF, but I would not expect good results. There's only so much it can do and starting from a scan is iffy. You will probably have to create the form fields yourself using the various form tools in form editing mode: Tools > Forms > Edit

In order to edit a scanned PDF anywhere, you'll need to run Optical Character Recognition so it can covert the text from an image to actual text.
That would require Adobe Acrobat once the PDF is created. If you are using scanning software to create the PDF, that option may be in the software so you can OCR it as you create it.

Your 11MB file is well within the file-size limits for ExportPDF, but depending on the number of pages, complexity of the file (and yours doesn't sound complex), and your connection speed, it is possible that the service is simply timing out before it can finish processing. These steps can help:
If the file already contains editable text (that is, it isn't a scanned document), try disabling OCR as outlined in this this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel.
Clear the browser cache and try again.
Try a different browser.
Let's start there. If you still can't export the file to Word, let me know and we'll take it from there.

Unable to view OCR FONT in PDF preview

I am working on XML Publisher report. I have developed an RTF, in which i have number whose font is OCRA. When i preview the rtf as PDF, the number doesn't show the font as OCR, it displays the number in a different font.
So can you please help me why is this happening? and how can i display OCR FONT in pdf.

Yes i was trying on my desktop, but now i have been able to display/preview OCR font in PDF output.
To do this,
I downlaoded OCR FONT to my client computer.
In the template, go to custom properties (File/Properties/Custom) and add the following property for each special font:
Name: xdo-font.<font display name>.normal.normal
Value: truetype.<font path and file name>
Example 1
xdo-font.OCR A Extended.normal.normal
truetype.C:\WinNT\Fonts\OCRAEXT.TTF
Example 2
xdo-font.IDAutomationMICR.normal.normal
truetype./u204/custom/12.0.0/others/IDAutomationMICR.ttf.
The above solution worked for me only in case of previewing pdf output from template on my client machine, it dint worked form applications because i haven't installed the font on Linux/Apps server.
I now have to figure it out to get it work from Applications. So please let me know if you know any solution on the steps to follow to download/install the fonts on server to have it effective from applications.

Of course if you are both connected to the same iCloud account you have the same contacts - what did you expect?. The contacts live on the server and are read from there by the devices; so as you've both managed to sync your contacts up to iCloud they are now inextricably mixed. You can only delete your contacts by deleting individual ones, and doing that will delete them from your phone as well.
You can only unravel this by
1. In the iCloud contacts page at http://icloud.com, select all the contacts, click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left and choose 'Export vCard'.
2. Sign out of System Preferences>iCloud
3. Create a new Apple ID and open a new iCloud account with it for your own use.
4. Import the vCard back into the iCloud contacts page.
5. Go to http://icloud.com and sign in with the original ID. This is now his ID. Work through the contacts individually deleting the ones you don't want him to have. When done sign out and advise him to change his password.
6. Go to the new iCloud account and delete his contacts individually.
Of course if you have also been syncing calendars and using the same email address there are problems with doing this.
