How to upgrade operating system

can't seem to find 10.7 operating system to download in able to upgrade to Icloud

How to Install Lion Successfully - You must have Snow Leopard 10.6.7 or 10.6.8 Installed
A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Utilities. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.3.) if DW cannot fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall Snow Leopard.
B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the backup volume. Source means the internal startup volume.
C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
D. To upgrade to Lion:
Purchase the Lion Installer from the Mac App Store. The download will start quickly. Lion is nearly 4 GBs so a fast internet connection is essential. Download time could run upwards of 4 hours depending upon network conditions and server demands at the time.
Boot From The Lion Installer which is located in your Applications folder.
Follow instructions for installation.

  • HT4561 how to upgrade operating system from 10.5.8 to mountain lion

How do upgrade my I MAC from MAC OS X ro Mountain lion?

To upgrade from OS X 10.5.8, you must first buy Snow Leopard by calling the phone number in the Apple Online Store: 800-MY-APPLE (in the US)
Make sure your system meets Snow Leopard's requirements:
Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" System Requirements
To install Snow Leopard for the first time, you must have a Mac with:
    An Intel processor
An internal or external DVD drive, or DVD or CD Sharing
At least 1 GB of RAM (additional RAM is recommended)
A built-in display or a display connected to an Apple-supplied video card supported by your computer
At least 5 GB of disk space available, or 7 GB of disk space if you install the developer tools
After you install Snow Leopard you can decide if you want to upgrade OS X to the latest version, Mountain Lion. Mountain Lion is available in the Mac App Store, which is available to you after upgrading to Snow Leopard.
Make sure your system meets the requirements for Mountain Lion:
Mac OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" System Requirements
To install Mountain Lion, you need one of these Macs:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac needs:
OS X v10.6.8 or OS X Lion already installed
2 GB or more of memory (RAM)
8 GB or more of available hard disk space
If your system does not support Mountain Lion's requirements, you may be able to upgrade to Lion. To do that you must call Apple again to order a download code. Redeem the download code in the App Store to download Lion. Lion costs 99¢ more than Snow Leopard.
Make sure your system meets the requirements for Lion:
Mac OS X 10.7 "Lion" System Requirements
Mac with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon CPU
Core Duo CPUs are not sufficient for Lion
    2GB of memory (RAM)
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
To determine which Mac you have, what kind of CPU it uses, and how much memory is installed:  > About this Mac
The specified 2 GB minimum is barely adequate for either Lion or ML. They will run in 2 GB but you may not like its performance. 4 GB is a more realistic minimum.

  • How do I back up files to external hard drive in order to upgrade operating system?

How do I back up files to external hard drive in order to upgrade operating system?

Buy yourself a portable hard drive from WD or the like.  It should have a capacity at least twice that of your machine hard drive.  Then follow the instructions that come with it; it is quite straightforward.
I have a similar machine to you by the sound of it.   After the initial back up, it is just a matter of topping up every couple of months or so, plus whenever you do to back up any major upgrade.
A portable one is good because you can store it with relatives when not in use which gives protection in the case of fire or theft.
I use two backups.   One, an external HD permanently connected for my Time Machine and the second, a portable for the reasons I gave.

  • How to call Operating System commands / external programs from within APEX

    Hi,
Can someone please suggest how to call Operating Systems commands / external programs from within APEX?
E.g. say I need to run a SQL script on a particular database. SQL script, database name, userid & password everything is available in a table in Oracle. I want to build a utility in APEX where by when I click a button APEX should run the following
    c:\oracle\bin\sqlplusw.exe userud/password@database @script_name.sql
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Guys,
I have reviewed the option of using scheduler and javascript and they do satisfy my requirements PARTIALLY. Any calls to operating system commands through these features will be made on the server where APEX is installed.
However, here what I am looking at is to call operating systems programs on client machine. For example in my APEX application I have constructed the following strings of commands that needs to be run to execute a change request.
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script1.sql
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script2.sql
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script3.sql
    sqlplusw.exe user/password@database @script4.sql
What I want is to have a button/link on the APEX screen along with these lines so that when I click that link/button this entire line of command gets executed in the same way it would get executed if I copy and paste this command in the command window of windows.
Believe me, if I am able to achieve what I intend to do, it is going to save a lot of our DBAs time and effort.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • How to use Operating System Commands while using define in sqlplus

How to use Operating System Commands while using define in sqlplus . The Host OS is Linux
    define report_name=PROD_${host date "+%b"}.html
    The above is not working.
    The output should be
    define report_name=PROD_JAN.html
    Regards,
    DB

of course I was talking nonsense: the problem here is the mixing of bind variables and DEFINE variables.
With the following changes the script should work (the conditions for begin_interval_time are perhaps not what you want):
    variable snap1 number
    variable snap2 number
    variable rptname varchar2(20)
    begin
    SELECT min(snap_id) into :snap1 FROM dba_hist_snapshot WHERE CAST(begin_interval_time AS DATE) >= SYSDATE-1;
    SELECT max(snap_id) into :snap2 FROM dba_hist_snapshot WHERE CAST(begin_interval_time AS DATE) >= SYSDATE-1;
    end;
    col file_name_value new_value report_name noprint
    select 'PROD_'|| to_char(sysdate,'MON') || '_' ||  to_char(sysdate,'DD') file_name_value  from dual;
    define  report_type  = 'html'
    define num_days=2
    define begin_snap=:snap1
    define end_snap=:snap2

  • Updated Wikibook: How To Backup Operating Systems

I have updated my wikibook How To Backup Operating Systems to include a method for ext4 using the new FSArchiver, and also made it both GRUB v1 and v2 friendly, among other changes.  This guide is fairly newbie-friendly and is designed to help take some of the stress out of system updates and reinstallations by providing a reliable and easy system backup/restore solution.  It covers multi-OS systems including Windows.   It also contains a section "How The Computer Boots - The MBR Explained" that is good reading if you don't understand the boot process.

And a PDF version for printing...

  • CIT200 message, 'Please upgrade operating system' when I click on Linksys

I have removed and re-installed Linksys CIT200 over and over again, but still have the same problem.  Whenever my pc XP start up or when I click on Linksys, it wont let me view Linksys and a message pops up. Message reads, 'CIT200 Please upgrade operating system'.  I do not know what Im supposed to do.  I also had the EAccess Violation message, but managed to remove it with the help of this forum.  I cannot use my SKYPE phone at all and I have plenty of credit that I might loose.  It says Unavailable.
Please help!!!!!!!  I've tried eveything that I (and a local pc repair man) could think of

    Hi Gollum
Thanks for replying so quickly.  If drivers are the same as software, then yes.  I uninstalled my software (disc I got with the phone).  I then reinstalled it and went to the Linksys website, found my phone ad downloaded the drivers.
If this was wrong, could you give me step by step on where to find the latest software? I couldn't find any mention of software downloads on the website though - only drivers.   Are they the same?
As I mentioned, even with the driver download, I have had no joy

  • How to install operating system on new hard drive without installation disc on macbook pro 2011

My macbook pro 2011 does not come with a recovery disc or any disc at all, my hard drive recently failed and i have no backup. i have replaced the hard drive but don't know how to install the operating system on the new hard drive.

If it originally shipped with 10.7 or newer, connect the computer to the Internet and start it up with the Option, Command, and R keys held down. You'll be able to install an OS.
If it shipped with 10.6.8 or earlier and wasn't upgraded to use Apple's Internet Recovery system, phone AppleCare and order the disks.

  • My photoshop quit unexpectedly after upgrade operating system

When I upgrade my operating system from leopard to Lion ,  Now My photoshop CS5 quit unexpectedly . I open photoshop and its quit unexpectedly. How can I solve this problem. Please help. Thanks advance for your help.

I have not upgraded to Lion yet, but maybe some of this helps …
    Boilerplate-text:
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html
Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.

  • Need help on upgrading operating system from Mac OSX 10.3.9

We have a Imac G5 with Mac OS X v 10.3.9. We want an upgrade to run new ILife stuff. We don't know what we are doing.
What should we get to update the operating system, where, and how do we upgrade the system?
Are there any particular requirements that my computer will need? How do I know that I have them?
Is there anything in particular in the System Profile that I need to make sure that I have?
    Thanks.

You don't say what iMac G5 you have, but here's the *Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard installation system requirements* http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24950 You may have to increase your RAM. A minimum of 1GB is recommended. If you click on About This Mac, you will see how much RAM is currently installed.
Leopard is no longer available at the Apple Store *but may be available by calling Apple Phone Sales @ 1-800-MY-APPLE (1-800-692-7753)*.
Suggest you download the two PDF documents at the top of this link.
