You need to purchase the 10.6 Operating Disks, as 10.6 is not downloadable.  You can purchase these disks from the on-line apple store - http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573/mac-os-x-106-snow-leopard.
Also, make sure that your computer can in fact be upgraded to the newer OS version.  Check your computers model and year - - https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do.

  • How to Upgrade from Mac Os 9.2.x to Mac Os X on Power G4?

I am having trouble moving my G4 tower from 9.2.2 to the Mac Os X system. I am thinking that my Max Os X ver 10.1 disc is damaged, and I'm not sure where or what to purchase to replace this Cd. Can't locate these older versions on Apple's page. This machine was once on Tiger, but I erased the HD and had planned to re-install anew my OS's. I thought I had read once that you could bypass the older versions of Mac Os X with any of the later versions - e.g. Leopard and Tiger, i.e. upgrade from a Mac Os 9.2.2 to Leopard and or Tiger directly, but I haven't been able to do that. Can anyone help?

    Oberammergau:
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
First of all, it will be helpful for us to know which Mac G4 you have. I suspect that you have a PowerMac G4. If that is correct what processor speed do you have? How large is your HDD and how much free space do you have? How much RAM do you have installed?
Next, you are correct, you do not need to install prior versions to be able to install Panther, Tiger or Leopard if your computer meets the minimum system requirements for the OS you wish to install.
OS X 10.1 is essentially a Beta version, is very unstable and is hardly worth your while installing. I suggest a minimum of Panther (10.3x)
Post back with updated information and we will see where you need to go next.

You DO have to Upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 first, then you can Upgrade directly to Mountain Lion from there, IF your computer supports Mountain Lion (see below)?  Snow Leopard at this point is only available by calling Apple Customer Support in your country and ordering the download code and process, or possibly a Disk, for Snow Leopard.

Upgrading from Snow Leopard to Lion or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99.
If you sign into the App Store and try to purchase Mountain Lion but the App Store says your computer is not compatible then you may still be able to upgrade to Lion per the following information.
    A. Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
    B. Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • How To Upgrade My Mac Mail?!

For a long time now my apple mail application on my computer has been making random duplicates of emails I've received and read weeks earlier, and sometimes it makes the random duplicates of emails I've gotten that day but have already read.  So then it shows that I have a bunch of new messages when really its just making duplicates.
So I figured I needed to upgrade, but I don't know how.  I can't upgrade my computer to Yosemite, I think I have Snow Leopard and my macbook is old and won't support Yosemite.  I don't know if there are links to an older but newer update or now.  Can I individually update some of these applications like Mail?  If so, how?
    Thanks

No, you can't upgrade only mail.app individually.
Not sure how old your MacBook is, though if your MacBook has Core 2 Duo processor, you can upgrade till Lion.

I have i macbook pro with  OS 10.5.8. Now, i would like to upgrade it to OS lion. What should I do? Can I purchase directly the OS lion? What's a OS lion server?

Unfortunately you cannot get Lion without updating to Snow Leopard first. This is because Lion is available through the Mac App Store exclusively. The Lion Server is for businesses in particular, who use it to share calenders, contacts, email addresses etc.

No, iTunes is free. The version you need to run to sync your new technology iPhone with your old technology macbook requires a newer version of OS X, and that will cost you $19.99. Hopefully you have at least 1gb or ram or you'll need to upgrade that as well. Full specs for Snow Leopard here http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575
