How to use iCal Server with clients?

Ok, so since I can't find this anywhere... How do I use iCal Server with other desktop clients? I've selected the user, enabled calendaring, the user can authenticate in web-based group calendars. But then I'm stuck.
How do I give them their own calendar?
In iCal, I go to Accounts and try and enter the info but it fails every time. I tried the dns name like so: "calendar.example.edu" but it generates an error. But the user can log in to the web calendar for groups. Where is the users individual calendar located?
The help menu ignores that field as if it's not needed, but then it fails because the calendar doesn't know where the server is. The clients can't all be OD bound, so this has to work outside of Open Directory. According to Apple other CalDAV clients can connect too. How? Computers just don't "connect" on their own.
Anyone know the answer?

I was getting the same error when I tried to subscribe to a calendar using:
Subscribe to: http://myserver.example.com:8008/
principals/users/usershortname
I found that if I added a trailing slash to the URL then it would work :
Subscribe to: http://myserver.example.com:8008/
principals/users/usershortname/
(the way I found this was to navigate via the web browser to http://myserver.example.com:8008 then authenticate as a user, then navigating through to http://myserver.example.com:8008/principals/users/ where you can see all the user names all with a trailing slash after them)

could you help me please, how to add support of cups-lpd? Some info is here: https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man8/cups-lpd.8.html. I know how to add this to linux but not to OS X. I was trying to connect to MAC with LPD protocol, but I was not successful (but with IPP was everything OK - CUPS doesn't support LPD server defaultly), so it should help me. Thank you for your advices!

Looking through the CUPS documentation, I can only find reference to using IPP on the client to connect to shared printer on the Mac. There is no mention of being able to use LPD on the client and in testing this morning I can confirm that LPD is not supported.

How to use cloudscape server with imq plugin persistent

I succeed using embbed cloudscape to use JDBC plugin persistent store.
I found that the messge sending performance is acceptable(
20000 messages/27minutes), but the asynch message receiving is quite slow(20000message/82minutes).(My environment is a P4 256MRAM nodebook)
Now i am trying to use a standalone cloudscape server to serve as JDBC persisten.
but I fail to use imqdbmgr to create imqdb.
however, I can use cloudscape ij to create imqdb
at local machine using JDBC URL" jdbc:cloudscape:imqdb".
This cloudscape is provided by J2ee1.4 package.
but I failed while using following property in imq's config.properties
imq.persist.jdbc.opendburl=jdbc:cloudscape:d:/j2sdkee1.4/bin/imqdb
imqdbmgr report
"Failed to get connection to jdbc:cloudscape:d:/j2sdkee1.4/bin/imqdb;create=true:"
any one can help to figure out the probem

You need to check the cloudscape documentation and find out
1. the JDBC driver class to use and set imq.persist.jdbc.driver
2. the url to access a database managed by the server and set
imq.persist.jdbc.opendburl
The url shown in your mail is a format for the embedded version.
I believe the format for accessing a database managed by a server
is different. Please check the cloudscape documentation.
Since your database is created and managed by a server, you use
"imqdbmgr create tbl" to just create the tables used by MQ (after
the above properties are set correctly).

For a multithreaded server you will need a thread to listen and at least one thread per client. If the conversation is half duplex, one thread per client works very well, if it's full duplex you will find one thread to send and one to receive much easier to program.
I posted a Simple Socket Server that uses 1+2*clients threads.

if you r working in Sap enterprise portal use for connection url
jdbc:sap:sqlserver://ilsql01.tlv.sap.corp:1433;DatabaseName=Northwind
ilsql01.tlv.sap.corp:1433 this is your portal url with port number
Northwind is your database name.
for dirver you need to give
com.sap.portals.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
in case if you r working on other than sap say windows along with oracle try to use
Connection URL as jdbc:oracle:<drivertype>:@<database>
Driver name as oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
ex jdbc:oracle:thick:@localhost:3036:mydb

Hi Vinit,
if you want some Windows File Server integrated into Portal, please do not use a WebDAV Repository, but use the File System Repository instead. Therefore you need to configure the according Repository Manager. Please refer to this documentation:

I've had iCal on my Macbook since I bought it 9 months ago and have used iCal on a moderate basis.
It's only been moderate because it never really hooked me to organizing my life within it. Usually I just use a pen and paper to jot down my priorities and events but I figure that's pretty lame, especially since I carry my Macbook everywhere.
Any suggestions on how to use iCal to its full extent?
Any possible programs or downloads to enhance my iCal experience?
Any advice would be great as I want to begin to utilize iCal on a daily basis.

Flex has a very limited support for HTML, thus you cannot
create a full featured editor within flex. The only work arounds I
have seen are done using IFRAME's over your app.
Not sure if it an option, however Apollo does a good job of
addressing this issue by allowing full feature Javascript and HTML.

libreoffice + language tool is a sluggish duo when used with jre7, so I have installed jre6-compat in addition to jre7, but I have no idea how to make libreoffice use jre6 from jre6-compat. Jre6 is not listed in Tools>Options>Java.
I want to keep jre7, because it works well with the other applications.
