How to use left outer join on more than one table (source)

In our project we are converting the Unix shell & SQL scripts into OWB mappings. We are facing problem converting left outer join in OWB. here is one of the example. i have just pasted the FROM and where condition.
FROM ym_scr t1, branch_finmonth t3
LEFT OUTER JOIN item_image t2
ON (t1.branch_no = t2.branch_no
AND t1.item_no = t2.item_no
AND t3.to_date between t2.tran_dt and t2.to_dt
AND t2.to_dt >= '$start_images' ) <<<========= '$start_images' THIS COMES FROM THE UNIX VARAIBLE ,
We converts the same when we are putting it in OWB join Operator
INGRP1.branch_no = INGRP2.branch_no(+)
AND INGRP1.item_no = INGRP2.item_no(+)
AND INGRP3.to_date between t2.tran_dt and t2.to_dt
AND INGRP2.to_dt >= INGRP2.start_images
But as you see in the OWB opreator we can put left join with INGRP1 with INGRP2.
We can not make same join with INGRP3 & INGRP4 , becoz it failed saying "you cannot left outer join on more than one table/source".
so overall this OWB code makes incomplete left outer join as per the above ANSI SQL join in Oracle.
Bcoz of the problem we are getting less number of rows...........

I know this topic is here for a while now, but I had the same problem today, searched for help and didn´t find anything.
Later I figured out how to do this.
You just have to put the (+) one time, and the OWB converts in an LEFT OUTER JOIN statement.
For this case, all you have to do is:
( INGRP1.branch_no = INGRP2.branch_no(+) AND INGRP1.item_no = INGRP2.item_no AND INGRP2.to_dt >= INGRP2.start_images )

Friends, please help with this urgent problem: How can an outer join be written on more than one table?
An SQL Server query:
SELECT * from a INNER JOIN b on a.id = b.id LEFT OUTER JOIN c ON c.id = a.id AND c.id = b.id
works fine with SQL SERVER
But Oracle query:
SELECT * from a,b,c WHERE a.id = b.id AND a.id = c.id (+) AND b.id = c.id (+)
gives an error: OUTER JOIN cannot be used on more than one table? Why?
I use OracleDriver from classes12.zip to connect to Oracle8i database.

The join_type indicates the kind of join being performed:
Specify INNER to indicate explicitly that an inner join is being performed. This is the default.
Specify RIGHT to indicate a right outer join.
Specify LEFT to indicate a left outer join.
Specify FULL to indicate a full or two-sided outer join. In addition to the inner join, rows from both tables that have not been returned in the result of the inner join will be preserved and extended with nulls.
You can specify the optional OUTER keyword following RIGHT, LEFT, or FULL to explicitly clarify that an outer join is being performed. -
Left Outer Join with more than two tables in both CR 8.5 and XIR2
I am trying to create a report and I have tried two versions of Crystal but I ultimately need the report in CR8.5 for compatibility with the client's system. I think I am starting to figure out what might be wrong and it might be my understanding of SQL, but I can't see why someone hasn't needed this in the past. Ultimately I want to see all projects and any journal entry that might be posted for that project.
Database is MySQL 5.0.38 and using MySQL ODBC driver 3.51.19.
Project header table information will be populated. Each line item on a journal entry can be tagged with the project ID. But for me to pull the journal entry date I need also to link to a third table for the journal entry header info.
I want to see all projects, whether a journal entry has been posted or not.
So the links are like this
ProjectHeader --->Left Outer Join ---> JELines ---> Inner Join ---> JEHeader
I think in this scenerio Crystal is treating the LOJ as an IJ.
I created two brand new reports today, one in CR8.5 and one in CR XIR2. Once I edited the automatic CR8.5 SQL statement (which I have been doing for years, usually without problem), they both ran properly. I linked customers to their invoices. Customers without invoices showed properly. But then I linked the invoices to the payments of the invoices and immediately lost customers without orders in both reports.
So apparently only two tables are allowed in Outer Joins. Does this make sense? I checked out the w3schools tutorial on SQL and it doesn't mention this limitation and I can't find anywhere else that it specifically indicates this but all samples of code I have seen only show two tables. I just thought for presentation as a sample that was easiest to understand and we could expand as necessary.
If this is correct, how does one go about accounting for this kind of thing? One solution that goes through my mind is creating a view at the database level for the link between journal entry lines and journal entry headers. Would this be a good solution under normal circumstances?
A second option that I had to implement because of timelines, is to use a subreport linked to the main report through the project ID to pull the information for the journal entries and just pass the totals I need to the main report through a shared variable.
These aren't normal circumstances because I don't have access to the database so I can't create the view. I have come across this concept several times and I have been able to use subreports to solve it but I am trying to find a better solution for the future as sometimes subreports can be slow. So are there any alternatives I have not considered here?

Items disappear when linking to another table
My issues were two fold. I was selecting on the tables on the right-side of the original Inner Join. However, I was checking for Nulls. This apparently is correct but you must check for the Nulls first eg. (IsNull (JEHeader.Field1) OR JEHeader.Field1 <= 100). I had my original statement reversed checking for <= 100 before checking for Nulls.
I also did not set all links to be Left Outer Join. I had the Inner Join. I actually have about 6 tables in this report so all the links need to be set Outer Join. So this now seems to be corrected.

After selecting the table join option, In layout mode enter the table names in Joined tables tab. Select the 2 tables using check boxex and select the join type like left inner and click on define condition. This would create a left inner join. Similarly carry out for the next 2 tables.

How to use "URLConnection" in sessions with more than one screen??

Requests can be sent to http servers using "URLConnection" objects. The responses can be parsed via their InputStream; so far so good...
Question is:
What can I do when I want to send a request to a server where there is first a log-in screen and only then there is the desired screen where the real request should be sent?
Since the REAL request cannot be directly sent without the authentication check first, I need some kind of "context" or session in which I may make some consequent actions... Sending an independent request using a diferent URLConnection just won't do since I'm unauthorized via the second connection!!
Generally, I need a way to send consequent requests where the second request may be sent only if the first request authenticated me...
How can I do that? (Hope my question is clear...)

How to use inbound exit class for more than one workflow step
Hi All,
In Offline Workflow Approval Scenarios where the work items are sent to outlook of non sap users inbox through workitem exit of the respective workflow item. Based on the user reply from outlook email(either approve or reject) which sends an auto reply to Offline user . We configure an inbound exit class and assign the same in the SMICM transaction. Based on the code written using SAP_WAPI function modules in inbound class exit offline user gets the user approval result and performs the action in SAP.
My question now Is how can we use this inbound exit class for all the steps of a workflow.
For ex: In a workflow I have a decision step followed by an activity step. First I will write the work item exit for the user decision step and inbound exit code for the user decision step and offline user executed the user decision step with approve action.
followed by that I have an activity step for that I will code a work item exit for that activity level but how can I user the same inbound exit class for the activity step as well .

VeniFor the outbound processing you have the option of replacing the workflow exit by chancing the bsp application of the extended notification (see note 1448241 solution as an example of how to do the change) and replacing the standard links with a "mailto:...".
As far as the inbound processing, that depends on what should be done in the activity step, if for example you have a bapi which executes what the user does you can call it in the inbound class instead of the user and then the relevant wapi (complete the workitem/raise event etc.). -
How to use the stock locators for more than one subinventory

We are working in Oracle Applications 11i.
We have 4 different inventory organizations. Each with one main subinventory. One of those inventory organizations MWN has a subinventory defined with stock locators. The other three have their subinventories not defined with stock locators.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong please, I cannot define a stock locator for an existing subinventory while there are onhand items in that subinventory.
So, We will define new subinventory(for each inv org) with stock locators and then do a subinventory transfer to the new relevant new subinventory organization.
The next point is: the user requests to use the same stock locators for the 4 inventory organizations. is this possible?

Users wanted same locator in the same org under different subinventories.
We suggested 2 solutions
1) Make the 1st locator segment=subinventory name (e.g. East.A.3.10, West.A.3.10)
2) Add a character to the first locator (e.g. EA.3.10, WA.3.10)
They picked up the 2nd option.

How to use iPhone 3G S in more than one iTunes.
It keeps telling me when I hit "manually manage music" that I need to erase and sync my whole iPhone all over again. I have my own separate iTunes with all my files backed up from my iPod Nano and my iPhone is hooked up to that one, but if I go on the other Library on my computer, or my friend's library, it tells me I have to "erase and sync" but I don't want to have to do this, I just want to download some music.
Sorry but to help fight the theft of copyright data, you can only sync with one library at a time.

How to do left outer join in one-one mapping
I tried to do a left outer join between two tables. I specified
kodo.jdbc.DBDictionary: JoinSyntax=sql92 in kodo.properties. I used
ref-join-type="outer" in the package.mapping. However, I still see Kodo is
translating my queries using inner join. How can I force kodo to use outer
join (or maybe even to use left outer join) when translating my queries?
Thanks.Kodo will automatically use an outer join when eager-fetching a to-one
relation (unless you have set null-value="exception" on the field, in
which case Kodo knows it can use an inner join). There is no need to set
the ref-join type (in fact, that is only for when the foreign key
columns are in a joined table).
When you place criteria on a relation in a query, though, the relation
must exist to satisfy the query. For example, in the filter:
"relation.x == y"
The "relation" field must hold a related object to satisfy the
expression, just as in Java.
If you want the "relation" field to optionally be null, then write your
filter exactly as you would in Java:
"relation == null || relation.x == y"
Kodo will correctly use an outer join in this case because the filter
can be satisfied even when no related object exists. -
Hi SAP,
I have an access database with table called "Employee_ID". I am linking this table to a table called "Sales" in our main database and trying to report on January 2009.
There is one employee that is not appearing in my report. I know this employee has had no sales in Jan 2009. So, I tried linking the table using Left Outer Join and still this employee is not appearing in my report.
As a test, when I bring in Employee_ID table alone, the missing employee appears but when I try linking it INNER or LEFT OUTER join to table Sales, this employee does not appear.
Any help how I can bring the employee in from table Employee_ID?

Your suggestion led me to the finding my solution. Your suggestion brought back the missing employee but I needed all employees that had sales in January 2009 AND those that didn't. So I had to tweak your select expert formula as follows:
isnull({Sales.amt}) or
{Sales.period}="0109"
This brought back everything as needed! There was one negative about using this method. The performance was poor. It took a really long time to run.
To avoid having to wait for this to run and increase the performance, I had to go into the database and add a $0.00 sales amt for employee 2040 (or an empty sales amount record) in the month of January 2009. This brought back everyone also and it obviously increased the performance exponentially. Curious, why does it take forever to run using the above formula in select expert?

Hi all, I have a fact F with account number and few measures as columns.
I also have a dimension D with account number, account name columns.
Few account numbers from Fact doesnt exist in Dimension D , but they need to show up in the report though.
How do I left join Fact and Dimension D in RPD?
I have this report where I need to show Account Number, Account name, measures.
If D doesnt have certain account numbers, I need to convert that account number from F as string and show it in the report in account name column.
