How to use same jsp for edit and add form
Hi,
I would like to use the same .jsp file for edit and add. I just want to change a few controls based on edit/add mode. How do I configure this in the jsp?In the environment I currently have access to do not have similar setup.
Let say you setup the DFF1 default value to $HEADER.customer_name, the name of the DFF is CUSTOMER_NAME, description can be anything.
In DFF2, default value should be a SQL, where you can reference the DFF1. For example, SELECT DECODE($FLEX.CUSTOMER_NAME, 'ABC', 1, 'DEF', 2, NULL) FROM dual
In this case, you can reference the DFF1. -
Editable and Read-Only Date Picker have different display formats -- Bug?
Hi all,
This is a follow on to a previous posting about getting a Date Picker field to display read-only (Date Picker and Read-Only Condition works on LAST state of element
Now past that hurdle, I have noticed something about the date picker field when it is displays read-only. Namely, the date format is not the format selected, nor does the read-only date format comply with the format mask in the source section.
I've modified my small test app to work as intended in order to demonstrate this feature. I also opened it up so everyone can see it <blush>. You can find it here: http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=42513: Please navigate to the Update Project tab.
When a project in Program One through Four is selected (which has a Spec Committed date), the date is displayed DD-MON-YY format. When a project the other Programs (which do not have Spec Committed dates at the time of this writing) are selected, and a date value selected with the date picker, the date is displayed in the anticipated DD-MON-YYYY format.
Anyone else notice this, or have I just missed something obvious?
Thanks,
PetieI'm not sure why this happens but to work around it I added this before header process code to the page:
execute immediate 'alter session set nls_date_format = ''DD-MON-YYYY''';

How to use same form for Editing info and creating info.
Hi all,
Here my aim is to select the user from list and edit the user info. There is one more option to create the new user.
Currently I am using two separate input forms one for Editing and one more creating new user.
Can anyone tel me, how to use the same form for both editing and creating.
Thanks,
Ramesh BiradarHi Ramesh,
I'll make some assumptions about how you're going about this, and then give you a possible solution:
I assume that you have a table with selection on one page. To edit an item, you wish to select it's radio button and click an edit button to take you to another page with the item filled in to edit it. To create a new item, you'd like to click a "new" button and go to the same page.
If this is correct, here's the basic steps:
1). Assuming you have both the list and edit pages already created, make sure you have a JSF navigation case defined going from the list page to the edit page. I'll call this navigation case "goToEditPage" for this discussion.
2). To make the edit button, drag a command button from the component palette and drop it on the af:TableSelectOne (the column in your table containing the radio buttons for selection).
3). Set the action property on this command button to "goToEditPage".
4). Now, to make the create button, drag a command button from the component palette somewhere on the page. I like to put mine in a panelButtonBar inside the actions facet of an af:Page component.
5). Now, for the Action property of this command button, bind it to a method in your page's backing bean. The code will look something like this:
public String performNew()
BindingContainer bindings = getBindings();
OperationBinding operationBinding = bindings.getOperationBinding("Create");
Object result = operationBinding.execute();
if (!operationBinding.getErrors().isEmpty())
return null;
return "goToEditPage";
}Hope this is helpful, Ramesh.

How to use SQL filtercondition 'Start with' and 'connect by' in ADF's LOV?
Hello every!
I can not use 'Start with' and 'connect by' with parameter in creating ADF's LOV?
How could I do with it?
Alexassuming you are using adf 11g,
You need to use View Criteria with the View Object attribute that has a LOV model.
Follow this, to get some idea http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2008/12/cascading-lovs-in-oracle-adf-11g-update.html
hope this helps, -

How to use same Data Type and Length for two fields
How to use same data type and length for two fields when using 'FOR ALL ENTRIES IN' in a select statement? For instance the select queries are :
SELECT bukrs gjahr belnr lifnr budat bldat zlspr dmbtr waers shkzg
FROM bsik
INTO TABLE it_bsik
WHERE bukrs = p_bukrs
AND lifnr IN s_lifnr.
IF it_bsik IS NOT INITIAL.
SELECT belnr gjahr awkey awtyp
FROM bkpf
INTO TABLE it_bkpf
FOR ALL ENTRIES IN it_bsik
WHERE belnr = it_bsik-belnr
AND gjahr = it_bsik-gjahr.
IF it_bkpf IS NOT INITIAL.
SELECT belnr gjahr lifnr xblnr
FROM rbkp
INTO TABLE it_rbkp
FOR ALL ENTRIES IN it_bkpf
WHERE belnr = it_bkpf-awkey+0(10)
AND gjahr = it_bkpf-awkey+10(4).
ENDIF.
ENDIF.
Here it gives an error in the 3rd select query that 'When you use the addition "FOR ALL ENTRIES IN itab", the fields "GJAHR" and "IT_BKPF2-AWKEY+10(4)" must have the same type and the same length.'
Kindly clarify.Hi Saurabh,
Please see the example code that I have developed for you. It will help you solve the problem.

How to use same page fragment more than once in a page,
Hi Gurus,
How to use same page fragment more than once in a page. I have a complex page fragment which has lots of Bindings (Binding Property set with backingBean variables).
I want to use the same page fragment multiple times on the same page with different tabs.
I want different ApplicationModule Instance for the page fragment in different tabs.
So I have created a Bounded Taskflow with pagefragments which has this complex pagefragment.
I've dragged the taskflow to page and created regions.
I'm able to execute the page successfully when I have only one region but fails if I have region more than once in the page.
Can anyone help me how to resolve this issue.
Web User Interface Developer's Guide for Oracle Application Development Framework: section 19-2 states we can have same pagefragment more than once in a page.
Thanks,

How to use same actions for differ pop-up
Hi gurus,
I am using 2 popup in a view.same popup's having same buttons 'Yes', 'No'.when i use 1st one i have to create an action for that Yes button where i put my code for that particular Action.
But when i used 2nd one the action define for that is not acceptable with differ name.it takes only standard one.
Now my Query is : How to use same actions for differ pop-up buttons with in a similar view?Where i put my code.
Plz sugges me.
<b>Points will be sured.</b>
Sanket sethiHi,
Take one integer value attribute in the context of view
when you r performing action on POP1 set it's value to 1
when you r performing action on POP2 set it's value to 2
create one method which receives integer argument, say diaplay(int a)
In the action call display(wdContext.currentContextElement().get<intvariable>()) by passing the value in the context attribute
in display() method, Check the value of integer variable..
if it is 1 then perform action related to POP1
if it is 2 then perform action related to POP2

How to Use Transient View Objects to Store Session-level Global Variables
hi
Please consider section "40.8.5 How to Use Transient View Objects to Store Session-level Global Variables"
at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/b31974/bcstatemgmt.htm#ADFFD19610
Based on this documentation I created the example application
at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/ProgrammaticalViewObjectAndRollbackApp-v0.01.zip
It behaves as show in the screencast at http://screencast.com/t/qDvSQCgpvYdd
Its Application Module has a Transient View Object instance "MyEmployeesContextVOVI", as master for the child View Object instance "EmpInCtxJobVI".
On rollback the Transient View Object instance keeps its row and attribute values.
Also when passivation and activation is forced (using jbo.ampool.doampooling=false ) the Transient View Object instance seems to keep its row and attribute values.
questions:
- (q1) Why does the expression #{bindings.MyEmployeesContextVOVIIterator.dataControl.transactionDirty} evaluate as true when a Transient View Object instance attribute value is changed (as shown in screencast at http://screencast.com/t/qDvSQCgpvYdd )?
- (q2) What would be a robust approach to make a Transient View Object instance more self-contained, and manage itself to have only one single row (per instance) at all times (and as such removing the dependency on the Application Module prepareSession() as documented in "5. Create an empty row in the view object when a new user begins using the application module.")?
many thanks
Jan VerveckenThanks for your reply Frank.
q1) Does sample 90 help ? http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/
Yes, the sample from Steve Muench does help, "90. Avoiding Dirtying the ADF Model Transaction When Transient Attributes are Set [10.1.3] "
at http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/#90
It does point out a difference in marking transactions dirty by different layers of the framework, "... When any attribute's value is changed through an ADFM binding, the ADFM-layer transaction is marked as dirty. ...".
This can be illustrate with a small change in the example application
at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/ProgrammaticalViewObjectAndRollbackApp-v0.02.zip
It now shows the result of both these expressions on the page ...
#{bindings.MyEmployeesContextVOVIIterator.dataControl.transactionDirty}
#{bindings.MyEmployeesContextVOVIIterator.dataControl.dataProvider.transaction.dirty}... where one can be true and the other false respectively.
See also the screencast at http://screencast.com/t/k8vgNqdKgD
Similar to the sample from Steve Muench, another modification to the example application introduces MyCustomADFBCDataControl
at http://www.consideringred.com/files/oracle/2010/ProgrammaticalViewObjectAndRollbackApp-v0.03.zip
public class MyCustomADFBCDataControl
extends JUApplication
@Override
public void setTransactionModified()
ApplicationModule vApplicationModule = (ApplicationModule)getDataProvider();
Transaction vTransaction = vApplicationModule.getTransaction();
if (vTransaction.isDirty())
super.setTransactionModified();
}Resulting in what seems to be more consistent/expected transaction (dirty) information,
see also the screencast at http://screencast.com/t/756yCs1L1
Any feedback on why the ADF Model layer is so eager to mark a transaction dirty is always welcome.
Currently, question (q2) remains.

How to use buttons in hcm process and forms?
Hi Experts,
I want to know how to use buttons in HCM process and form.
And when i click on the button it was validating all the fields and it was throwing an error ( complete SACHP fields) i am not using this filed in any where of my form.
So, please help in getting out of this error. And help me with some document, which method will trigger once we click on the button.
Thanks & Regards,
RockyYou do not need to add this field to your list. In the view V_T588MFPROPS (SAP delivered), this field is set as mandatory. In configuration, you must maintain the view V_T588MFPROPC (Customer area) and make sure the field is not set to mandatory. This will override the SAP delivered setting and the error message will be not be displayed.

Each drive mounts as a separate volume. There is no convenient way to make them look like one contiguous volume.*
Franky, with an hdd and a ssd I would recommend you put your home dir on the hdd and leave the ssd for the OS and your key applications. It's relatively easy to do and I think better than moving only portions of your stuff.

How to use stored procedures in DIAdem and Can the stored procedures be used to return values?
Can anyone please tell me how to use stored procedures in diadem and to return values from it. Its really important, can you please answer it at the earliest.
Thanks In advance
spiyaHi Spria,
I'm very sorry for the mix-up, I thought Allen was going to answer you back with the particulars that we found out. Check out the attached Word document and the below tidbits:
The built-in DIAdem ODBC functions {SQL_...()} can only call stored functions, which return a scaler result {found then in SQL_Result(1,1)}. The syntax for this with an ORACLE db is
"select function(parameters) from package"
...where package defaults to "dual" if you don't use your own package.
There might be exceptions to that though, and the syntax will be different for other databases. Note that stored ORACLE procedures can NOT be called from the ODBC functions, instead you must use either ADO function calls in the DIA
dem VBScript or the OO4O COM wrapper that ORACLE provides (this is described in further detail in the below Word document).
Hope this helps,
