  • How to use the change log in ODS to track Delta change?

    People say that historical data (like Delta change) in ODS can be tracked in the Change Log.  How to use the change log to track historic data?
    Thanks

    Kevin
    See if it helps
    Every ODS object is represented on the database by three transparent tables:
    Active data: A table containing the active data (A table)
    Activation queue: For saving ODS data records that are to be updated but that have not yet been activated. The data is deleted after the records have been activated.
    <b>Change log: Contains the change history for delta updating from the ODS Object into other data targets, such as ODS Objects or InfoCubes for example.</b>
    An exception is the transactional ODS object, which is only made up of the active data table.
    The tables containing active data are constructed according to the ODS object definition, meaning that key fields and data fields are specified when the ODS object is defined. Activation queue and change log are the same in the table’s structure. They have the request ID, package ID and the record number as a key.

  • How to use old archieve logs with a new control file

    Environment:
    ORACLE_BASE="/export/home/oracle"
    ORACLE_HOME="/export/home/oracle/product/8.1.6"
    NLS_LANG=".UTF8"
    2 partitions:
    i) /data1 -- contains important datafiles (OS striping on 3 hard
    disks)
    ii) /export/home -- contains the oracle program, and SYS/SYSTEM
    datafiles
    Problem:
    -/data1 cannot be read/mount (damaged)
    -oracle failed
    Action Performed:
    -reinstalled OS
    -mount /export/home successfully (all oracle system files,
    instance init files exist)
    -/data1 is an empty partition
    -created the oracle user, and its groups
    -chown recusively for the $ORACLE_BASE directory
    -set all the oracle environment variables
    -attempted to start the instance, but failed due to a control
    file was
    missing
    -since control files were set to be mirrored, i copied a control
    file somewhere
    from /export/home/oracle/oradata/<SID>/control1.ctl to
    /data1/oracle/oradata/<SID>/control2.ctl (i.e. have them back to
    their original locations)
    -the instance failed to start as well, since the datafile set in
    the control files couldn't be found
    -this forced me to re-create the control file... b4 i re-create
    a new control file, i backed up the old one
    -once the control file was created, the database can be started,
    but, to oracle, all achieve log information are lost (although
    the achieve log's physical files r still there)
    -i imported the important data from a dump file that was
    exported a week ago b4 the system failure
    -since we r using the new control file, the redo logs switch
    contains no achieve log information that the old control file
    has, so running "recover database" doesn't do anything
    Purpose:
    since the dump file is a week old, i'd like to get the data
    after my last export and b4 the system failure. the database was
    run in arhieve log mode, how can i recover those data with the
    new control file
    Question:
    -how can we create a new control file that can drive the old
    achieve logs?
    -can we convert the achieve log data (.dbf format) into text
    format?
    -can we still use the old control files to start the database?
    -what's a suggested solution if we'd like to re-construct the
    database up to the moment b4 the system failure in another
    server?
    thx

    I am in an unenviable position, with an unsupported database.
    We are running Oracle 9i on Windows XP. We are upgrading soon to Oracle 11g on a newer platform, but need to get our development environment working first.
    We lost a system that was running our development database without having a database export. The C drive was placed into a new system as the D drive.
    I have loaded Oracle 9i on the C drive, but I have been unable to determine how to point it to the existing data files on the D drive. My search skills may be the limiting factor here...
    We cannot simply load the drive as C, since the hardware is different.
    What are the steps to point the new database software at the data files on the D drive? Or, how do I copy the old data files into the new Oracle Home and have them recognized properly?
    Are you stating that you don't know how to use COPY command?
    Can you recreate same directory structure on new C drive as exist on old C drive?
    Can you then drag & drop copies of the files?

    Hi,
    can any one tell how to to use simple types for table column names?
    It is required in internationalizing of webdynpro applications.
    Regards,

    Hi,
    1: define required column names in <SimpleType>
    2:use the following code to get those values
    3:bind 'text' property of Column headers to context attributes
    4:take a context attribute 'Value' as type of <SimpleType>
    5:set these values to context attributes
    IWDAttributeInfo objAttrInfo=wdContext.getNodeInfo().getAttribute(IPrivate<ViewName>View.IContextElement.VALUE);
    ISimpleTypeModifiable simple=objAttrInfo.getModifiableSimpleType();
    Map m=simple.getEnumerationTexts();
    Collection c=m.values();
    Iterator it=c.iterator();

  • How to use the phone's Mini-Keyboard Input with the 'Textbox'(MIDP2.0)?

    (My apology. My English is not perfect but I'll try my best. >_<)
    Hi. I'm trying to create a textbox(in my own little application) that is compatible with the mini-keyboard input feature.
    This problem involved any device that have a built-in "mini-keyboard".
    Problem:
    I tried the 'Textbox' class from MIDP2.0 but the result, as expected, is like using the phones with no built-in keyboard.
    (Forexample if I want to input the character 'C' inthe text box, I need to press number '2' button three times to let it circle through 'A' -> 'B' then 'C'. )
    Then I tried entering URLs in the phone's built-in web browser, the result is I can use the mini keyboard to type like a PC keyboard.
    Question: How do I implement such textbox that is fully compatible with the built-in mini Keyboard?
    I tried browsing through the MIDP2.0 API but it seems the 'Textbox' class there couldn't do it.
    Thank you. =)
    /bow
    Edit/Delete Message

    The textbox should have input just as any other normal phone input. If not, something strange is going on.
    Anyway , there is no use to make your own input method, since every phone has another implementation of this anyway. It would only confuse users.

  • How to using variable in log file name on ODI 10.1.3.5?

    Hi,
    how can i put a my variable into my log file name?
    now I use this syntax --> ExRate_<%=odiRef.getSysDate("MMddyyHHmm")%>.log.
    But I have a variable for example #server, the value = "oracleProd" and i want to put the variable value into my log file name.
    so the result that i want to get is --> ExRate_oracleProd_<%=odiRef.getSysDate("MMddyyHHmm")%>.log
    so how can I apply the variable value to my log file name? I try using odiRef.getSessionVarList(#Month) but it didn't work.
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    chris

    hi,
    You can by
    ExRate-#server-<%=odiRef.getSysDate("MMddyyHHmm")%>.log
    Note that I have changed the underscores to dashes. This is because ODI will assume that this is a wildcard/escape character.
    Hope this helps!!

  • How to use simple SQL instead of Connect By Prior

    Currently, I am using "connect by prior" query in the application, but for reason I dont want to use this connect by query so can any one please tell how does I get the same result by using SQL, I tried this by using procedure but unable to get the same result, specially LEVEL of the tree.
    So please tell, how would I get the correct data.
    Thanks in advance,
    AMIT.

    Hi,
    Whenever you have a question, it helps to post:
    (1) The version of Oracle (and any other relevant software) you're using
    (2) A little sample data (just enough to show what the problem is) from all the relevant tables
    (3) The results you want from that data
    (4) Your best attempt so far (formatted) I don't believe the unformated code you posted is what you're really running, since it has a syntax error ("... WHERE START WITH ..."). Please post code that really works with the sample data you posrted.
    (5) The full error message (if any), including line number
    Executable SQL statements (like "CREATE TABLE AS ..." or "INSERT ..." statements) are best for (2).
    If you can present your problem using commonly available tables (for example, scott.emp, which contains a hierarchy), then you can omit (2).
    Formatted tabular output is okay for (3). Type these 6 characters
    &#123;code&#125;
    (small letters only, inside curly brackets) before and after the tabular text, to preserve spacing.
    As Alex said, why don't you want to use CONNECT BY?
    Are you getting the correct results now, but just looking for a different way of getting them?
    Depending on your exact requirements, you could write a PLSQL function that mimics LEVEL. Don't expect it to be fast.
    Nested Sets is a completely different way of modeling trees.
    Some things are much easier with Nested Sets than they are using the Adjacency Model (the parent-child model that uses CONNECT BY).
    But some things are much harder with Nested Sets, and LEVEL is one of them.

  • How to use select max and min query..

    hi gurus,
    we have got a custom report for develoment.
    the report has to fetch the max and min salarys department wise....
    how to pick up max & min sal ansal from table pa0008.

    Hi,
    Try the following
    select max(sal)
               min(sal)
               from <database table>
               into <internal table>
               group by department
               where <where condition>.
    Here we assume that sal is the field holding the salary and department is the name of the field in the database table. Where condition is optional.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Sachin

  • How to use simple input command ??

    I am tired of trying to find an easy to understand source to implement simple INPUT command ( equivalent to cin>> and scanf() , in c++ and c as i m good in those two)
    when print can be System.out.println(--) , then y does read have to be so complicated ?
    Help me out guys !!!

    package palindrome;
    import java.io.DataInputStream;
    * @author Pulkit
    class Main {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    int num;
    System.out.println("Enter a number to check if it is palindrome");
    // System.in.readline(num);
    DataInputStream ob = new DataInputStream(System.in);
    Now the remark line is wat i tried to do, as i thought it should follow the print method ( System.out.print ) that one.
    But in a book , i see its done just the other way, just below the rem line.
    I just need ur help to explain me as to how that line has been put, i.e. the syntax of that line.
