How to wirelessly connect MG3120 to macbook pro

How to wirelessly connect canon MG3120 to macbook pro OSX?

If the printer is Wi-Fi capable, you have to get it on your home Network.
It needs to know the network_name and Wi-Fi password, and these need to be entered directly into the control panel on the Printer.
Once it has joined your network, it will show up under Add-a-Printer.

  • How can I connect an old macbook pro...

How can I connect an old macbook pro with that does NOT have a Thunderbolt connection to a new 27 inch iMac? I only need to do this for one specific purpose, to be able to see the work I'm doing on the laptop in InDesign on the iMac's larger screen (at a larger size as it were, so I can see a double page spread (or even a whole page would be an improvement) in one go)?  I gather it might be possible to get an adaptor but note that Apple don't seem to sell one. I know I could do this with the cinema screen but would rather do it with a new imac as that will have more use to me overall. It's a work laptop which I don't own so I don't own the Indesign to just be able to use that on an iMac. I have tried to connect monitors to the laptop in the past, but with no success at all.  I hope someone can help . Thank you.

Im pretty sure you are talking about the M8536 which has an ADC Adapter.
you will have to daisy chain a thunderbolt to DVI adapter with an DVI to ADC Adapter.
    the first adapter:

The second adapter is old so you may find used ones on ebay like this:

  • Is possible for me to use the wireless connection from my Macbook Pro

Hi All, I just got my iPad 16GB WIFI and I would like to know if it is possible for me to use the wireless connection from my Macbook Pro. Basically I will be travelling quite a bit and my Macbook Pro has a Wireless 3G dongle. Is it possble to use this via the 'internet share' option so that the iPad can connect to the 3G wireless via the Macbook Pro?

Yes. Just use internet sharing on your MacBook Pro.

  • How do I connect my new MacBook Pro with my wireless printer?

New to Apple products, and can't figure out how to wirelessly connect to my printer.  I am assuming that it has that capacity....but can't find a way.  I have an HP officejet 4500 wireless printer.
    Appreciate the help.

As you will come to discover and appreciate in this new world, most common and mundane tasks have been designed to be simple, easy and, often, self-evident. But we've had to put up with Windoze's Weird Ways for way too long and have had our instinct to do things naturally blunted. Fortunately, the brain damage is curable...
    Cheers!
P.S., in time you'll come to appreciate and benefit from the Mac's minimalist design, as was the Will of Steve throughout Apple's products.

  • Fix for wireless connection issues on MacBook Pro - reinstall OS!

I hope this helps some of you out there.
I was having all the usual problems with connectivity with the MacBook Pro I bought in January 09. It dropped the signal constantly and if I closed the top, it would make me search for my network again then it would give me the "connection timeout message" over and over again. I couldn't get anything done either at home or anywhere else. I finally took it in to the genius bar but they couldn't replicate the problem so I was sent home. The guy did, however, suggest reinstalling the OS (which I thought was a dumb idea since it had to be the airport card right?). Since it was a week away from the release of Snow Leopard I waited.
Once I installed Snow Leopard all was fixed. It has now been almost 2 weeks and I haven't lost a signal once - the difference is amazing. I feel liberated!!
Try a reinstall or upgrade to 10.6. and good luck. Post here to let us know if it works for you. Don't forget to backup your date first!

Nope I'm not trying to tether.  I would like to be able to use a wifi connection on my mac and other devices.  I've gotten by so far just hooking up my mac to the ethernet port, but that requires me to be in my room.  I know its possible since there a bunch of networks nearby (locked of course), but I just can't figure out how to get mine working.
I'm living in an apartment across the street from campus that is sort of school-owned...well its private but the internet service is provided by the campus since only students live here.  So we have to register anything that we want to use on the school's network.  On campus I can use wifi on my mac or iphone.  Its troubling how I can use the ethernet cable just fine, but when I connect it to my router (which I registered through the school as well)...nothing.  Technically this should be working easily - but maybe you're right on the network security accessability...or maybe my router is old...or my mac doesn't like my router?  I've had this problem before during my undergrad years except I was dealing with a cable provider and not the school.
Maybe I should just make friends with my neighbors and find out how they set up theirs haha.

  • Wireless connection of a Macbook Pro to a PC wired to a cable modem

Hi all, I am planning to connect my new Macbook Pro to a wireless network that I will be setting up in my home. Currently I use a wired DSL cable modem that is connected to my PC. My Macbook Pro will be downstairs (wireless) and my PC is upstairs where the cable modem outlet is. I will also want to connect my PC's printer to the wireless network so that my MBP can use it. So....are there any issues I should be aware of regarding connecting, speed issues, compatibility issues, bugs, etc?
Also, what hardware (router, ethernet hub, air-port, etc) do you recommend to make this work? (Mid-range price.)
    Thanks very much.

not mid range price but usefullness and functionality for usb connected printers and hard drives and usage for Time Machine backup....Apple Extreme N router educational buy about $165.00

  • How can I connect my new macbook pro to HDTV, either wirelessly or via a cable?

I just got a Macbook Pro about a month ago and I'm trying to figure out how to connect it to my HDTV. Is it possible to connect it and simply use the HDTV as a display that way?
Ideally, I'd like to connect it wirelessly, but if not, I understand that a cable should work. I tried to look for a cable from one of the Macbook Pro's ports to the HDMI port on the tv... but couldn't find anything. My old Macbook had a DVI port and I don't think it exist anymore (unless I'm missing it).
    Hope to hear back soon.
    Guy

If your MBP can use it, I highly recommend the following adapter:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er
I'd be very surprised if it doesn't have a capable mini DisplayPort, since my not-quite-one-year-old MBP does.  But to be sure, first make sure you've got a mini DisplayPort, then scroll down on the page above and find a user comment titled "How you know if it is supported w/o guessing."

  • Wireless connection lost after macbook pro sleeps for more than 15 minutes

It's annoying. I have a brand new macbookpro 3.06Ghz 17" hi-res screen running OS-X 10.6.3 and the wireless connection keeps dropping after the computer is either turned off or sleeping for more than 15 minutes.
My router is a linksys wireless G, has dd-wrt software in it which is very powerful. When I release or renew the DHCP at the router, the mackbook connects to the wireless network, no problem.
What configuration can be done at the macbook as to not have it time-out airport wireless connections unless I renew/release DHCP at the router? This is an annoyance beyond the limits of anyone's patience.... Thanks in advance for any help!

Well, since nobody answered this post I decided to try a bunch of things and I believe I came to a solution:
1 - Make airport the first connection under System Preferences->Network
2 - In the advanced window:
    - Under AirPort: Keep only one network name on the list (the one you use all the time)
    - Select 'remember networks this computer has joined' and deselect all other boxes
    - Take note of the Airport ID (xx:xx:xx:xx:xx) and put it in your router's MAC address list. I do this because I only allow connections to my router from mac IDs that are on the list I create. In my case, I have my macbook pro and my PS3 system. If you don't know how to edit the MAC list in your router, do some research. It's pretty easy.
    - Under TCP/IP: Select "Using DHCP" on the IPv4 drop box
    - Select "Off" for IPV6 drop box
    - Under DNS, after you connect at least once, you should see (grayed out) your router's IP address on the left box and the domain on the right side box.
Finally, under "Ethernet" you should see your Mac address there, the configure option should be set to Automatically and MTU as standard (1500).
Press OK and then press "Apply" and lock that screen by clicking on the padlock at the bottom left. BTW on the top of this screen Location should be "Automatic" - if not, select it and apply.
Done! Your wireless should connect quickly after the computer is turned on or waken up from sleep state. This assumes you configured your router correctly (mac addresses, frequencies, etc).
Good Luck to all who try this - at least I have not have any more dropped wireless connections.

  • How do I connect my 2013 macbook pro to apple tv

How do I connect my 2013 Retina Macbook Pro (OSX 10.9.5) to my new Apple TV?  When I try, I keep getting a "Cannot connect" message.

Welcome to the Apple Community Mary Ann.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). You can see which Mac you have and which operating system you are using by selecting 'About this Mac' from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your Mac and selecting the 'More Info' button.

  • How do I connect my defunct MacBook Pro (monitor's dead, HD works fine) to another computer to transfer files?

I have an old MacBook Pro whose monitor recently died. I took it to the genius bar to get assessed and ended up buying a MacBook Air to replace it. The genius hooked up my external hard drive to the MacBook Pro and did something with the way she started up the MacBook Pro so that I could get my files off of it and onto the external hard drive while it was plugged into another computer so I could see the files there. However, I failed to transfer some files that I really want. Now I'm trying to figure out how to transfer them on my own. And I can't make it work.
Here's what I have to work with:
    - The monitor-less MacBook Pro, which still turns on.
    - The new MacBook Air.
    - The external hard drive, which I connect to the old MacBook Pro via 6-pin FireWire and the new MacBook Air via a thurnderbolt-to-9-pin-FireWire-to-6-pinFireWire converter.
Would love to hear your ideas so I can avoid another genius bar appointment if possible (as they take forever).

    "Target Disk Mode"
FireWire or ThunderBolt, whichever you can make work in common.
OS X Mountain Lion: Transfer files between two computers using target disk mode

  • Wireless Connection Dropping on MacBook Pro

    Hello,
I have been running into an issue with my Macbook Pro dropping wireless connection to Alcatel Wireless access points. It happens when I disconnect AC power and run off of the battery. It usually drops the signal a few minutes after that. I have run all the updates and it still seems to be happening. We can tell when it drops because we are kicked off of a Filemaker remote database. Has anyone else run into this issue?
    Thanks!

Please beware that Pacifist-based "fixes" like that advocated in the thread in question above have two notable downsides:
    1) You will remove certain functional and security fixes from your system.
    2) You may break future software updates as your system will be listed as having some software installed that no longer is installed.
I understand the frustration, but if you choose to "fix" your problem in this way, beware it is not without danger and may cause you future issues.

  • Wireless connectivity issues with Macbook Pro and At&t service HELP!!!!!

I have three Computers two PC's and one Macbook Pro( the latest model). My desktop PC is used by ethernet, my girls laptop is used wirelessly and finally my MBP was being used wirelessly.
I started off with only the two PCs and my internet connection never had a problem and I was doing everything from: on the internet to downloading.
Before I bought my MBP I had also switched from internet and phone bundle to just internet from At&t service. So when I got my first MBP I notice that I was loosing wireless connection with both my girls pc laptop and my MBP so i thought it was because I had just switched service, though they send out a service technician and we came to a conclusion that it was the MBP. (I was loosing signal via wireless and ethernet). So we tried to see if both my girls laptop(wireless) and my PC desktop (ethernet) would run into the same issue which it did not.(MBP was turned off)
So I decided to go my nearest Apple store and let them know what was going on. So I told them what was going on and they said It must be the airport card, and they ended up changing it. When I get home I discover that not only I am having the same issue but other issues too. I went back they ran some diagnostic and they said it was defective and they gave me a new one few days later.
So in the mean time that I waited for my new one to arrive I used my PC desktop and my girl kept using her laptop and guess what no issue what so ever for one whole week. Now I receive my new MBP(they bumped the specs a little), went home set it up and still the same issue though I dont have the issue when Im using via ethernet. Just a view minutes ago I tried removing the ethernet and using the airport/wireless and within a few minutes I lost the signal.
    I have the gateway 2WIRE model(2701HG-B) modem/router.
Is there something wrong? what do I have to do to make this work?

Hi Guys, I bough my Mac almost two years ago. All this time I have experienced the same issue. There are tons of discussions re this issue in the internet. Unfortunately, Apple has done nothing to fix it. I have tried a lot of different options, but they work no longer then 1-2 days. The official fix - does not exist so far. It is quit strange, isn't? I can share my experience: if you go to AirPort Utility - Manual Setup - Wireless and then change Channel, it could help you till the moment you restart your computer; next time you need to repeat it again. It takes 2 minutes. Not sure that it would work for you but you could give it a try. Well, not the best option. Anyway Apple must fix it asap! Hello Apple, do you hear us? Good luck.

  • Wireless connectivity issue between MacBook Pro/ iTouch and Airport Express

I'm creating a wireless network at home using my airport express and depending on the configuration settings I set in the airport utility, I will face the following issues:
1- To connect my MacBook Pro to the wireless network created, I have to set the radio mode to 802.11n only (5 GHz). Any other radio mode (a/b/g compatible or n only (2.4 GHz)) will not work ("Couldn't find the network")
2- Conversely, the use of the radio mode 802.11n only (5 GHz) with my iTouch doesn't work ("Couldn't find the network"). To connect my iTouch to the wireless network created, I have to set the radio mode to 802.11a/b/g compatible or to n only (2.4 GHz)
As a result, I manage to 1) either connect to a wireless network created with my airport express with my MacBook Pro only 2) or with my iTouch only, depending on the configuration setup.
I'm using the latest updates for the airport utility (7.4.2), iTouch (3.1.3) and Mac OSX (10.6.4).
    Any help on this?

if you set it to the most compatible with the least common denominator you should be able to connect with both. (If that's what I understand you are trying to achieve).

  • How do I connect a 2013 Macbook Pro Retina to an Epson Power Lite 61p LCD Projector?

I am trying to attach an Epson PowerLite 61p LCD Projector to my 2013 Macbook Pro Retina, but I cannot find which type of adapter I need. I would assume whichever adapter is required it must connect via thunderbolt. However, I do not know if the required adapter is a "Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter," "Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter," or a "Thunderbolt to VGA Adapter." I would deeply appreciate your help and guidance. Thanks!

It does not matter whether you get an Apple adapter or a third pary one.  What you have there is a Mini Displayport to VGA adapter, but as you know, your new MacBook no longer has an MDP port!
Thunderbolt to VGA adapters do not exist but there are plenty of HDMI to VGA adapters out there:
