HP C3180 All in One Wont Turn On

My printer will not turn on. I have been using it recently and it was working fine. I came into print and it would not turn on. I checked all the cables and they are properly connected. When I switched to a different power outlet the device flashed on and off for a second, then would not turn on. This happens everytime I plug it in.
Just wondering if anyone had a clue on what I need to do to remedy this situation, or do I have to go out and buy another printer.

  • HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One printer -- SCANNER not working.

I have had this HP Photosmart C3180 All-in-One printer for a couple years and all is well. HOWEVER, the one function not working properly is SCANNING. I can print fine and copy fine. But when I go to scan something my power button flashes for about 10 seconds and then stops. Nothing happens, and nothing scans. HP said it was not the printer itself, but something to do with my operating system through Apple. I have the current 10.5.6 version of Leopard.
If I can get any help from others I'd appreciate it!

HP provided this link to software which resolved my scanning issue.

  • Hp c3180 all in one prints some thins fine but others print and look like programmer language

HP C3180 All in One running on Windows XP
Some pages print fine, but others from different job websites print out what looks like Config Sys language.  For example:  <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 FRAMESET//EN">  and this goes on for 1/4 of a page.  How do I correct it?

Hard Reset – While printer is powered ON, pull the power cord from the printer then from the wall. After 30 seconds reconnect power to wall and printer. This will trigger a ‘dirty power up’ and restore the printer to a known good condition (if it is possible). No user settings are lost with a ‘hard reset’.
This ‘Hard Reset’ is one of the most powerful tools to use when the printer hardware is not functioning properly!
IF NOT RESOLVED, uninstall hp software & reinstall using latest hp software from hp website.

  • HP Photosmart C3180 All In One Installation Problems

A while back I posted about problems with installing this printer, where the install cd v7.8.0 worked but the HP Set Up Assistant hung on the 2nd step. The software on the hp site for this printer (v7.9.1), did not work either, and froze mid install (couldn't even get to the set up assistant). HP support couldn't help me, repairing permissions didn't work, neither did resetting the printing system. I even tried updating cups and it didn't help either.
I found a way to get the printer to work by choosing HP Photosmart P1100 - Gimp-Print v5.0.0-beta2 in Printer Set Up Utility, but since I never completed the HP set up assistant, it came up every time I turned on the computer. But, I could still print.
Then one day I couldn't print, and when I went to Printer Set Up Utility, every driver I picked resulted in the "An error occured while trying to add the selected printer...server-error-service-unavailable", even the one that worked before (HP Photosmart P1100 - Gimp-Print v5.0.0-beta2)
What finally worked to get me back in the land of the printing was to do an archive and install of the OS and re-installing the latest OS update, then reinstalling the v7.9.1 software from the hp website. I have no idea how things got so messed up twice, but I thought I would share what finally worked just in case it helps someone else out there...

    You are not alone.
I am having EXACTLY the same problem with my HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-One. Step two of the HP Setup Assistant stops me dead in my tracks. No printers are listed. Scan Utility just crashes upon opening. The System Profiler lists the printer in both the Printer section & the USB section. I installed the new HP (Universal) 7.9 dmg as an Update; worked fine until I tried to scan. It will do everything, except scan.
Most recently, I did a System Archive & Install (after many MANUAL* printer uninstalls & reinstalls of HP software....), then applied: MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.10PPC.dmg, (brings all up to date in one step).
And a fresh install of HP Universal 7.9.....no change. I did notice that one set of instructions (for installation) said not to have the printer connected until prompted by the software (which never happens). Another (most recent) said that the printer MUST be conected (and 'on') BEFORE beginning the software installation. Neither one worked. And Hp hasn't been able assist any further. If they come up with something, I will post.
Oh, I also tried installing only the Original software that came with the Mac & the 3210. Now that doesn't work either.
    But I'm Still Hopeful,
    Scott Smith
    P.S. I am using a Powerbook G4....
*I have complete instructions on this process if you think it might help your situation.... (it removes all hp stuff & built-in Mac/HP driver stuff.)

  • What causes an hp c5550 all in one to turn on properly then all lights start blinking?

I Have an HP c5550 all in one printer which I think goes into oscillation and all lights on it begins blinking and the power button will not turn it off. I have to unplug it to stop it. When I reconnect it, it will work for a few minutes and starts blinking all over again. I have had it on an XP machine but just recently put it on a windows 7 ultimate machine with the exact same results. Also the last time I got it to print instead of turning off and starting blinking it just kept repeatedly printing the same page which was supposed to pring one copy. Besides jacking it up and running a new one under it, what could be the matter with it?

    Hi there,
Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • HP Envy 4500 all in one wont scan or copy

Hi all. I have a 4 month old Envy 4500 all in one printer & it has stopped scanning &/or copying.
It wil print from any of the laptops on the network but will not scan a document or copy either from the desktop icon or directly from the panel on the printer.
I've tried everything, uninstalling & re installing from CD rom, I've run the Scan & copy driver doctor & that says there's a problem with the driver, tells me to unplug the pirnter & restart computer, done all that & still nothing.
When you try to scan the printer draws the paper in & then the screen just sits for hours with the progress bar on "scanning" or "copying" & nothing happens. If you cancel the job (on pc or printer panel) even the "cancelling" sticks on the screen for hours, the only way to clear it is to shut down printer & restart, but still it doesnt fix it.
I think there's a fault with the arm thing that moves across the screen & copies/scans the document on the glass.
Its under warranty but I've tried everything for 3-4 days now & getting nowhere
    Someone please help
BTW. My wife laptop was on windows 8.1 & I was on Windows Vista but I have just changed to new laptop in last 24hrs with also Windows 8.1 but the problem started well before I changed my laptop from Vista AND exactly the same symptoms happen from my wifes pc with Windows 8.1.

Ok thanks for all of this. I tried it all & still no joy.
I do think (as I have all along that it is a hardware fault)
I will speak to Amazon as I cannot afford to be without a printer whilst it goes off for repair
UPDATE: Amazon customer service is UNBELIEVABLE!! They're just sending a new printer out & once I get it I just need to send old one back. Love Amazon!

  • HP C3180 All In One Prints test page everytime I turn it on

My printer prints a test page everytime I turn it on.  This is a huge waste of ink.  What should I do?

Although it's quite an old post but I thought I might as well post the reply coz I found this chain while trying to fix the same problem for me.
Apparently. it's a procedure with which HP requests you to align a newly loaded cartridge. Just put the test page on scanner screen and scan it. HP will align the cartridge and stop printing the test page for you. Hope this solves the problem for anyone else looking for the solution.
    Cheers,

  • C3180 All in One not printing on photopaper

Whenever I try to print with photopaper it will be fed through but stop as soon as it's about an inch or so in.  Jams do occure, but not always, and I'm finding that the printer seems to be having a hard time grabbing the paper in general.  BUT, when I press cancel, it will feed through as it should.  So I know that printer is capable of handling the paper, and I know it's not too glossy/thick because I've printed three photos already (though not without strife).
All in all, it acts as though the feed's not working but I know it does, I know it the paper IS compatible, it just doesn't seem to want to work.  My ink is new, the quality of the ones that DID print are exceptional, normal paper works fine, it's just these strange ( for lack of a better word) jams are a constant hindrance and I don't know what to do.

Hi - A couple of things to try.  First, when you click File, Print, go into properties and change the paper type setting from Automatic to the type of photo paper you have.  It could be having a problem automatically sensing the type of paper.
If that doesn't resolve the issue, try cleaning the paper feed rollers as referenced on solution four in this document.
    Hope that helps.

  • Photosmart c5550 all in one- wont communicate with mac osx 10

Hey all, just downloaded the driver from hp website and went through all setup instructions, but when i go to print something there is no communication between my printer and my mac.  I click on the qeue box and it says the status has been stopped.  I click to resume, then the status goes blank as if it is trying to do something, however, it quickly returns to stopped.  A box comes very rapidly and says failed, then disappears quickly.
    Hmmm.... Any thoughts?

Print a WIreless Network Test from the front of the printer.  It will self-test the printer's radio.
Can you give me the exact model number of your router?  If it is a 802.11b router, it may be time for a new one.  If it is, are you sure you are using WPA and not WEP?

  • HP Photosmart C3180 All-In-One will not scan

I did a clean install of Snow Leopard on my iMac. At the end, it prompted me to download updated drivers for my printer/scanner/copier. I clicked "OK" and let it run.
I can print without any problems. But the machine will no longer scan. My computer doesn't recognize there being any scanner installed, either. I have tried running other updates, including the HP drivers/software update released on Apple's site on Sept 21.
I have also tried running the drivers installation from HP's site for Snow Leopard.
Apple's and HP's support both say that the drivers are all built in to Snow Leopard, and to use Image Capture or Preview instead of the HP programs to do a scan.
In short, nothing's solving my problem.
Has anyone found any solutions to get your machine to scan again?

I think I found a solution, or a workaround at best.
I used OmniDisk Sweeper to remove ALL printer drivers/software from my machine. I then ran Software Update in OS X 10.6.1. It downloaded and installed the drivers for Snow Leopard.
I can now scan in Image Capture, and saves the file as a JPEG. I still cannot scan via Adobe Acrobat Pro without it crashing Acrobat. I suppose I can bring files in as JPGs into Photoshop and save them out as PDFs until HP comes up with a real set of drivers and software suite that restores functionality to what it was before Snow Leopard came along.
Hope this helps other people struggling with HP and Snow Leopard for the time being.

  • HT201412 My ipod touch (3rd gen) is not responding at all. It wont turn off. It wont go into sleep mode. it wont connect to the computer or anything at all. also does not responed to touch. What do i do to make it work again?

Hi. My ipod touch (3rd gen) will not turn off or resond to anything and will not connect to a computer. the screen will not go into sleep mode and i dont know what to do. help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • HP C3180 All in One Printer is printing the Wrong Colors

Hello my printer has been working great until recently.  I have new HP black and color print cartridges installed.  I cleaned the print heads with a q-tip and distilled water and the yellow color is peach.  I have also used the printer utlity mutliple times to clean the print heads/drivers and nothing is changing.  Any tips on what I should do?  I'm not sure why it's happening as I've not had this problem before.
    Many thanks,
    Jennifer

Hi - Did you have the problem before you changed the color cartridge?  If not, I'd recommend returning the color cartridge and getting a new one.  Though it is rare, occasionally a new cartridge can be bad.
Here is a link to a doc that provides some techniques to prevent this type of issue.
    Hope that helps.

  • Lexmark all in one wont connect to computer

I have a lexmark x5060 but when i try to scan with it it says not conntected to computer ?? does anyone have anything i can try or does anyone know if the product is still anygood

    raw212,
Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I don't have any idea what kind of Lexmark printer this might be -- it doesn't show up under the x5060 name.
Is this perhaps a Lexmark c752 printer?
Regardless, you need to go to Lexmark and see if you can get printer software for your Operating System and -- assuming it is available -- you can install the print driver (software) onto your computer.
After you install the printer software, you should be able to use your printer with your computer.
    Try here:  Lexmark Driver Search
If the printer is older, that is, it is "vintage", you still might be able to use it.  Hopefully, Lexmark will have instructions on their website that tell you how to use the available standard printer drivers that come installed in all Windows Operating Systems.  The printer may work with the "standard" drivers at least to the extent that you could use the basic functions like print and copy.
