HP compaq elite 8300 Display port options

HI
I can't get picture from HP compaq elite 8300 minitower DisplayPort at all. I have only adapter DP -> DVI, and DVI - DVI cable between HP LP2465 monitor, because there is only DVI inputs. I think, that Elite 8300 give only VGA- signal...
shall I get and try DP -> VGA adapter, and then VGA - DVI cable (my monitor can take VGA signal through DVI port)?
VGA port work for me with VGA-DVI cable, but need 2 monitor. I have Intel® Core™ i5-3570 Processor in my mobo... Aclac

OKAY... my mistake. When I done some researching, I got the point to my broblem. HP compaq elite 8300 minitower manuals have complicated told and hard to find how, and what signal each video port send an my minitower. I find out that, DP port send digital, and VGA send analog. My monitor ports are both DVI, but only first can handle digital signal, and I tried port 2... of cource! I change DVI connection to port 1 and voila', I got picture. - Aclac

You will not be able to upgrade that PSU, model # 508154-001. It is not possible with those connectors. The most absurd item was that the hardware (drives) actually are powered off the motherboard. (Just like you said).

  • Compaq Elite 8300 All-in-One, Windows 7 Prof Caps Lock on or off freezes typing

I have bought a brand new HP8300 & find that when I use the cap lock, either on or off, it freezes typing & I have to reposition the cursor to restart typing. Being a touch typist & typing many schedules & reports this is becoming annoying. Tried various Windows settings & 3 keyboards wireless & wired & it happens with all. HP Tech advised me to try resetting the BIOS to default which cures the problem, but then during the day it reoccurs again.  Restart causes it to default back to the fault unless the BIOS is reset first.  Anyone heard of this? Is this a BIOS fault, any ideas what I can do please.  Thanks

Thanks for your help, did try it but unfortunately it made no difference.  The BIOS setting back to default seemed to be the only way to stop the problem, but then it returned as soon as the pc started up again.  Eventually HP replaced the BIOS and I reinstalled Windows 7 which has cured it so far.  The pc was the business edition by the way.  Thanks again

Moms machine that i am managing remotely:
Brand new HP Compaq Elite 8300 SFF
    i5 3470 with 8GB RAM
Microsoft Lifecam HD 5001, when plugged into (USB 2.0/Black) port, device manager says not recognized.
The device appears in device manager under Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
Have downloaded the latest software form Microsoft ( Life Cam 3.60), which installs fine, but when opened it says "No Camera is attached to this computer."
ive tried searching for new driver through device manager and it always tells me the same thing...the best driver is installed.
Ive followed most all the advice i can find through Google with no success.
(This camera was working fine on her old system a month ago)
I have this exact same camera on my machine C2D with 4GB of ram and it installs and runs just fine.
what else could be the issue?

  • Elite 8300 desktop new graphics card

I have a HP compaq elite 8300 desktop.  Monitor is getting power, but at startup, monitor doesnot do anything except say 'no video signal'.  I had a very brief power outage while computer was on.  I suspect the graphics board isnt working. What  type and kind should I purchase to replace the onboard one?

You do definitely have an integrated GPU. Depending on your processor it's either Intel HD Graphics: Basic, 2000, 2500, or 4000.
The second graphics card is an optional feature that I assumed you have because you asked about replacing your graphics card, rather than your processor, which I think will be necessary if that is what is fried.

  • Macbook 7,1 mini-display to display port?

Apple doesn't show a mini-display port to display port option in its specs; only dvi and hdmi, yet neither support an external display of 2560x1440. But it claims to support that display. How? What adaptor should I use?

I know this MacBook has a mini-display port. The monitor I'm considering buying has a display port, dvi, and hdmi port. Will a mini-display port to display port adaptor work to get the 2560x1440 resolution?

  • HP Elite 8300 Ultra Slim No Audio via Display Ports -Solution-

This is a solution or a work around to getting audio functionality via the Display Ports on the HP Elite 8300 Ultra Slim and I suspect but cannot confirm as I do not have "other 8xxx models". Normally in the windows sound settings it will offer no options for audio via HDMI, etc with whatever drivers you so happened to install from HP or Intel when using the Display Ports on the machine.
So this is what I did and I replicated it again to be sure.
1.Install the Latest Intel HD 2500 Drivers first from the Intel Website first of course
2.Download the HP Power Assistant Software v2.0.5.1
     http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=ob_102595_1
and install it and suddenly in the Sound settings in the Windows Control Panel you will find it now shows audio devices that are connected via the Display Ports via HDMI , weird I know but it works for any audio device connected to the DP pots via HDMI, etc.
HP Customer Services told me categorically that it was not a function of the 8300 Ultra Slim supports due to the revision of display port it has so I am a bit annoyed that I had to search and search and actually fix it myself.

    Great discovery.
I may experiment on my 8000 and 8200 Elite CMT's.
I would have to remove the video cards I added though.
FYI, so you don't have to go to third party websites, HP does have a direct link to the Power Assistant software you used.

  • I have a Macbook Pro 13.3 i5 w/ no hdmi port. How can I connect my Mac to TV to watch video, photo ?  Is the Thunderbolt port a mini display port where I can use a mini display port to HDMI cable? If not, what are my options??

I have a Macbook pro 13.3 w/ i5 that has no hdmi port. I want to be able to connect the Mac to my TV set to watch Video, Photos and files from Mac to TV.
Is the Thunderbolt port similar to a display port or mini display port? Can I use thunderbolt port to connect thru a mini displayport to HDMI cable or converter?
Been trying to locate a USB to HDMI cable or converter (at a reasonable price) but all I found is a displayport or mini displayport to HDMI cable/converter.
What other options are available ?
Thanks a lot for your assistance.

Thunderbolt uses a Mini DisplayPort adapter to send video and audio to HDMI. • No Audio from HP Compaq 6000 Pro Small Form Factor PC display port

    Hi
I have a HP Compaq 6000 Pro Small Form Factor PC that has a display port. I bought a display port-HDMI adapter to use it on my LG plasma TV. The video is fine but i get no audio.
Please what do i need to do? does my display port support audio? The symbol on it has the DP++ sign which indicates it should support audio.
    Please assist me.

    Hi:
To the best of my knowledge, your PC does not support audio out of the display port.
Check your sound and playback  menu in the contol panel, and see if you have 2 HD audio selection choices. If not, you won't be able to get sound out of the display port.

  • P2415Q - No display over DVI, HDMI. No menu. Worked perfectly for one month over display port

Reason Line: Dell P2415Q. After one month working perfectly over display port, no display on screen over Display Port or HDMI, no response to menu buttons, backlight and power LED on but no image on screen.
    Problem Description
The monitor worked out of the box for one month using the display port to mini display port cable provided with the monitor, which was plugged into my XFX 7970 and 7950 graphics cards. It supported 4K at 60Hz and was exceptional for photos, videos and games. On Wednesday the monitor stopped working, no image or menu is displayed on the monitor. I plugged in my old monitor to help diagnose via DVI from the same graphics card. When I press the power button on the Dell P2415Q monitor, the power LED lights up and the computer detects the monitor (as shown in the windows screen resolution menu). It sets it as a secondary display but the monitor remains black, I can see the power LED and backlight is on. No power saving mode popup appears on the monitor, when I press the menu buttons there is no response from the screen, it remains black. I repeated with a HDMI cable the same issue occurs with no response or image. I repeated and disabled crossfire (which allows the graphics cards to function independently) and tried the second graphics card with no response. I tested the HDMI cable I used on my old LG monitor, it works well. I have tried connecting a laptop over HDMI to the monitor too, with no response from the monitor. I have exhausted all the tests I can think of, I presume I will have to return the monitor for repair or replacement under warranty. A question to the dell rep and community - is there anything else I can try / do to get it working?

Computer: Non-Dell, self build about 2 years ago. Ivy Bridge i5, Gigabyte Sniper Motherboard, 16GB RAM, XFX 7970 GPU and XFGX 7950 GPU in crossfire, 256GB SSD, 860W Corsair AX power supply (860W on 12V rails). Windows 7, 64-bit. (Secondary Monitor LG D2342).
Operating System: Windows 7, 64 Bit.
Video Card: XFX 7970 and XFX 7950 in Crossfire (tested separately, monitor produces fault with both).
Video Card Driver: 14.12 AMD Catalyst Driver (rolled back to older driver, monitor still produces fault).
Video Card Output Ports: Tested with miniDP and HDMI on both cards, with crossfire enabled and disabled. Monitor still produces fault.
Video Card Cable: miniDP to DP cable provided with monitor. HDMI cable, tested with alternate monitor to confirm it functions correctly.
Monitor Menu Button: Non responsive, when power is turned on the computer successfully detects the Dell P2415Q monitor, the backlight turns on but no image appear on the screen. Pressing the menu buttons yields no result - menu does not appear on the screen. Power LED is on.
Monitor Purchase: Purchased from Overclockers.co.uk March 2015.

    * Turn the monitor off
    * Disconnect all cables from the monitor including the power cable
    * Press the monitor power button in for 15 seconds
    * Reconnect the monitor cables and re-test. If still no go, your only option is to get it exchanged per the purchased warranty

  • Help using a mini display port to HDMI cable with MacBook Air and TV

Hi, Apple gurus. I need help setting up my MacBook Air to my Vizio TV using a mini display port to HDMI cable that I just purchased on Amazon.
And here's info about my MacBook Air:
In the Amazon reviews, someone posted the following how-tos, which aren't working for me:
    1. Plug in both ends, mini display port on your macbook and the HDMI on any available port on your LCD.
    2. Go to upper left Apple menu and scroll down to system preference. Or use your FINDER from the dock, go to applications, then system preference.
    3. Click on Displays
    4. Click on DETECT DISPLAY
    5. A similar screen pops up with name of your LCD, mine says SONY LCD, click on ARRANGEMENT
    6. Click the box that says MIRROR DISPLAYS.
    7. Go back into system preferences and go to SOUNDS which is located under HARDWARE.
    8. Click on OUTPUT, then select HDMI, which should be listed next to your LCD name.
I ran into trouble at step #4. My MacBook Air doesn't list the option of "detecting display." I do, however, have the box mentioned in step #6, "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available."
Regarding step #8, HDMI didn't appear in the list — I only see "internal speakers."
So, what am I doing wrong? Or, did I buy the wrong cable?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Or you need to get an appropriate adaptor. The Griffin adaptor sold on Apple's Online Store will work with a standard HDMI cable.

  • Mini display port to HDMI...help

I have all my options selected and was just about ready to click purchase on a new 2010 17" MBP and thought I would double check one more thing...Mini display port to HDMI with audio.
I see many post about this, but most seem to be on 08 models...have the new ones changed? I am more less getting this for my wife to use and she needs it for presentations. I finally got her to go from PC to my old 17" G4 laptop and it's time for an upgrade. The one issue we run into is that files are commonly sent as Power Point, but we got through that with a Mac/Microsoft upgrade.
I am told the location that these presentations are displayed, plans to get a new monitor and they are looking at BestBuy and such for TV style monitors with the HDMI option. This seems like a cheap way to get away from the projector system they have now that only supports S-video or VGA. I'm hoping that Apple now supplies audio thru the HDMI cable which is in my (limited) understanding the main reason the change over from DVI to HDMI was implemented in the first place.
If the no audio issue is still a factor, maybe I should put off the new MBP, because I am trying to get away from having to make the trip with her, in order to make sure we have both audio/video. With the projector system they now run, I have to take a PA and output the audio from the headphone jack and then run the S-video to the projector. I am hoping the new MBP will have one cable connection and she be on her way!
    M

Well for starters, anyone who puts audio into a PPT presentation needs to be taken out back, beaten, drawn and quartered, beaten again, put in a stockade, flogged, then beaten one final time for good measure. The only audio coming from a presentation should be the presenter speaking. The PPT slides are meant to be secondary in nature, highlighting the major points of the presentation as you go along, not be the presentation. Audio and video, even those stupid transition effects, just distract from the content. The people at Microsoft responsible for putting those features into PowerPoint, and thus opening the floodgates for all their competitors, should have all the above happen to them, and then add being shot to the very end of it. It's still far too good a fate for the **** those people have loosed unto the world.
That being said, I'm under no illusion that this is going to do anything but get worse over time, so here's the deal.
You need a MDP to HDMI adapter that is designed to also carry the audio signal. But it couldn't hurt to teach her how to ensure that the audio output device is set properly. Just in case. Or, you could do the right thing, and start smacking the people who think it's cute to put all these animations and sound effects into presentations. There are a very select few times when that sort of thing is justified, and 99.99999999999999999999999999999% of the time when one is used, it's not one of those times. Then you wouldn't really have to worry about getting audio AND video. Might be rather cathartic too.

  • Mini Display Port to HDMI sound problem

I have an iMac 11, 2 (MacOS X, 10.6.8).  The Mini Display Port is supposed to be able to carry sound, (using a Monoprice Mini DisplayPort to HDMI Converter with Audio, and HDMI cord supporting 3D, and Audio Return.)  I am playing downloaded movies with VLC, which works fine on the computer.  When I try to burn DVD disc using Toast Titanium, I get video, but no sound.  So, I figure I can watch movies on my Vizio 42" TV screen with the MiniDisplayPort to HDMI cord.  I learned that to use the MiniDisplayPort I have to go to click the box for Mirror Display.  In System Preferences--- Sound---- Output Tab, the only two choices are:  Headphones...... Headphone Port, and E3D420VX....... HDMI, neither of which seem to help "push" sound through the MiniDisplayPort.
So, I give up and watch the movie on the Vizio screen (through the HDMI cord), while listening to sound on the little computer speakers.  After watching a couple of movies, and then not doing anything for a few minutes, all of a sudden the movie starts replaying off the play list, and lo and behold..... sound coming through the TV speaker system!!!  (So, I know the HDMI cable is capable of carrying audio.)
If any one can help me figure out how to get sound through the HDMI cord all the time,  it would be greatly appreciated!

    Hello,
    Long shot, but...
Open Audio Midi Setup in Applications>Utilities, see the input & output options & KHz setting there, some things will change it for their own use, then not set it back.

  • Thunderbolt mini display port cable to HDMI not registering

I recently purchased a 6" mini display port to HDMI Cable. When I connected my macbook to my HDMI on my TV the macbook pro does not show the screen as a display option. When I go to system prefrences and under displays the tv is not showing up under arrangements. The only options I have is Display and color, I do not have an arrangement option. My TV doesn't seem to see the computer either.
I have a thunderbolt port but the cable says it's for a mini display port but works with Thunderbolt, I've used similar mini display cables before with the thunderbolt with no issues. I'm on an early 2011 macbook pro running 10.6.8
