HP D5640 printer prints green instead of black, but only when printing onto printable discs

Hi there, im wondering/hoping that someone can help me solve this, basically my printer works fine when im printing on paper, but when i put a disc in and try to print anything with black in, the black comes out as a bottle green colour, this has happened a few times before and i usually uninstal all the printer software off my pc, then reinstal it and it prints fine, this time however doing that hasnt worked, ive tried all weekend and unistaled it loads of times and its driving me potty, ink cartridges are all fairly new so running low on ink aint the issue.
If anyone can help or advise me on this id be really grateful, oh ive also tried changing the rgb to adobe too and didnt make any difference.

thanks for the message, im using hp photosmart essential 3.5 to print to the disc, my operating system is Windows Vista Basic, and the printer is connected via usb.

I'd like to help you with this issue, the black is printing in green sometimes. You have changed the cartridge and are having the same results.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Try these steps to see if it will resolve the issue.

Hi, my printer(photosmart 7550), print green instead of black, i tried with up-to-date the drivers and clean the cartridges but nothing is changed.
This problem happens with photo(full), color, and normal cartridges.

Why? The same black cartridge is used for documents and photos?

Office jet pro 8600 how to default to black ink only when printing from my ipad

Is there a way to set an option to print black ink only when printing from my Ipad 2?
When I use the print icon the only option that shows is double page. I would like to be able to print black only.
I can set that option when printing from my pc....

Hi,
Airprint does not support Black ink only printing, however the HP ePrint app allow it.
Be aware that the option is only available for documents (e.g Office files, PDFs, Web pages and emails) but not for Photo files.

Try resetting your phone by holding down the home and off button until the apple symbol comes up. Then if still doing, restore your phone in itunes from your backup.

Text in one area of a document is underlining in green instead of black!

I am editing a document in Pages that was originally created in Word. It was all typed in Black originally but now one heading is persistently underlining in Green. I have tried everything possible to get it to underline in black but even deleting the original heading and retyping it is refusing to change from green - I need this answer ASAP as it's a CV and needs sending off for a job application today - any help gratefully accepted!!!!

What version? and is it on iPad or Mac?
1. It may be showing grammar corrections
2. Have you tested printing this to a pdf to see if actually prints to pdf as green?

How can I print black ink only when in automatic two-sided mode for Officejet 6500?

When I set the printer to automatically print on two sides, it only allows color or high quality grayscale as print color options. If I print on only one side, then I have a third option for black ink only. Does anyone know how to get black ink only while getting two sided printing automatically?

Sorry, this is not an option. When printing the front page of a duplexed page the black is underprinted with color to make the print "set" and dry faster. As a result "black only" is not an option when printing automatically duplexed pages.

HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus - vertical black lines only when autofeed

I have multiple black lines (darkest about 3 inches from left) when I autofeed a print document. When I feed a clean sheet, I get the single dark line. There are no lines if I copy using the top glass, I followed the HP autofeed cleaning instructions TWICE. The white rollers were clean and only slight black smudge on the black rollers. I am certain this has happened to others...Oh yes, my HP warranty expired in late March (Costco may cover it if this is not a simple fix).
I would appreciate any assistance, as this has been a great printer.

Icons instead of thumbnails, but only on specific file type

I have windows 7 and am using MS 2007.
Thumbnails work for some of my files: images and powerpoint, but not on files for pdfs, excel and word. Except if someone was using Word for Mac and sends me the file.

Try one of the below method and let us know the result.
1. On the picture folder, Click on
Organize, then Folder and Search Options. Click the
View tab. Make sure that "Always show icons, never thumbnails"
does not have a check mark next to it.
2. In control Panel, Click on the System icon. Click on the advanced system settings link. Under Performance, click on the Settings button. In the Visual Effects tab, Check "Show thumbnails instead
of icons.”
3. Run disk cleanup and place a check in front of "Thumbnails."

PB display completely black, but only sometimes. Any thoughts?

The computer is an older PB G4 Titanium 500Mhz. Currently running OS X 10.4, though I am in the process of a second erase and installing 9.1 that came with it.
Out of nowhere last week the screen just froze, on restart it was completely black. But after turning it on and off a few times the screen will appear, but it will freeze within a half hour or so of use. I have erased the drive and reinstalled a new system, ran the Hardware Test, replaced the battery(as it wasn't holding a charge), and the power cord which was showing signs of wear.
I don't believe it is the inverter as the screen is not even faint, it's completely "off". The only thing that I am able to do on a consistent basis is start up from the installer CD. This is what leads me to believe it's not the display itself. But at this point I am beyond baffled.
Anyone encounter a similar issue or have any idea what could be going on?

Ok. My brother has an old Ipod nano. It's the tall one with the tiny screen. Anyway, he tried to turn it on one day and it just flashed white and then went black again. We tried everything we could and it still wont work. Now it wont flash unless it is plugged up to the computer. How do I fix it so it will work again?

Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions

Text aligns centre instead of left, but only on Windows 7 PCs.

I have designed a website on a Mac in CS5. It works fine on all Macs and PCs running XP/Vista but there are problems on Windows 7.
For some reason text boxes that I have aligned left work fine as mentioned above, but every text box aligns centre on Windows 7 PCs.
Can anyone offer any advice please? I'm pretty new to this by the way!

This is on the PC with blue boxes (thanks for link will check that out) and all text centered.
Like I say, text displays fine on windows XP in explorer and firefox, just not on Windows 7 PCs.
Any ideas?

Follow the steps below in order to print using Black Ink only:
1. From the application used to print, click the File menu and select Print.
The Print window appears.
NOTE: The Print window might be minimized - Click the Show Details button to see all available settings.
2. To access the color options, click the lowest selection box listed as the name of the program (e.g. TextEdit)
Will appear as Copies & Pages within Microsoft Office applications.
3. Select Paper Type/Quality from the drop-down menu.
4. Click the triangle next to Color Options to expend the settings.
5. Set the Color field as Grayscale.
6. Set the Grayscale Mode as Black Ink Cartridge Only.
You may save the settings for future use by clicking Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset...
A used preset will remain as default till another preset will be used.

Black ink only & double side printing

This is regarding a printing issue using my newly bought printer. I wish to print double sided using the option black ink cartrige only under grayscale printing. However, when I select double side printing, there were only 2 options under the grey scale printing (off which means color or high quality). Is there a way to select both double side and black ink cartrige? Furthermore, does grayscale printing using high quality option uses ink from the black ink cartrige or also from the color cartriges? thanks in advance

What printer model? What operating system?
Generally there are two options for grayscale printing, either "use black cartridge only" or not. If the "use black cartridge only" box is not checked color ink will be used as it provides better print quality.
Some printers and some drivers do not support "black cartridge only" when printing in duplex mode. In duplex printing a small amount of color ink may be used to underprint the black print to make it dry faster to prevent smearing in duplex printing. (Not intuitive, but it is correct....)
See here for some information on how ink is used. Some ink will be used for servicing even when printing with black ink only.
