HP Deskjet 1510 - Cartridge damaged or failed error

I had purchased HP Deskjet 1510 All in one inkjet printer in April 2014.
Since then I have not faced any problems but over the last one week there has been an intermittent problem with the printer declaring the Tri Color cartridge as being "damaged or failed".
Error:
"Ink Cartridge Failure
TriColor
Cartridges listed above are damaged or have failed
Remove them and replace with new cartridges."
Now the issue here is that :
1. The error is not persistent in the sense that sometimes the printer does not spit out this error and prints colors just fine. In fact I have a "test" printout printed by the hp diagnostic software which has printed the colors blue magenta yellow and black withot issues.
2. The cartridge has not run out of ink. When there is no error, the ink level for the Color cartridge indicates an ink level of about 60%.
3. There is no problem with the Black cartridge it prints just fine.
4. I have cleaned the color cartridge twice as per the hp support instructions. After the first time the cartridge started working but not the second time. Also tried removing and restoring both cartridges.
Will HP replace the cartridge as it is still under warranty?
Any help would be appreciated.

  • HP Deskjet 1510 Tri-color Ink Cartridge Error

I just bought a HP Deskjet 1510 back in August and I loaded the HP original ink cartridges that come with the purchase. For the first 5 print jobs it was working well, but somehow after a while my laptop and the printer itself just kept warning that there's low ink level in the cartridges (especially the tri-color one). I haven't even got to use the tri-color cartridge much as I've been printing in grayscale ever since I've used this printer.
I've tried taking the cartridge out and putting it back in again; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I thought it might be a contact issue so I cleaned those parts too but it didn't change anything.
It's getting extremely frustrating as I'll have to do this for god knows how many times for every single page I print or copy. This happens to the black cartridge too but 90% of the time it's the tri-color cartridge.
    Please help.
    Thanks.

Hello @ut32w , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I hope you had a great holiday!
I understand from reading your post that you are running into cartridge errors.  I'd like to help!
I would first suggest removing the ink cartridges, and performing a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend running through the steps listed in the document below:
An 'Incompatible Ink Cartridge or 'Ink Cartridges Missing' Error Message Displays for HP Deskjet 151...
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • MAIL: The upgrade failed - error occurred during upgrade. launching Mail Import assistant  to repair damaged index did not work

After installing Yosemite, the Mail required an upgrade. the upgrade was completed but resulted in a message: The upgrade failed. error occurred during the upgrade, check continue to launch Mail Import Assistant.
This resulted in an instruction: Your mail index has been damaged. To repair it quit mail. Mail will repair index next time you open mail.
Following this instruction resulted in the same failure message being repeated continuously.
How do I proceed to upgrade the Mail app.?

If doing as the alert directs (relaunching Mail) has no effect, see below.
The new version of Mail stores its database in a different format than the old one, so the database has to be converted before Mail can use it. Sometimes the conversion fails because the old database is corrupt. The easy way to recover is to discard the old database and start afresh. You can do that without losing any messages, provided that:
☞ All your incoming mail accounts are on an IMAP or Exchange server
☞ You store sent messages on the server
☞ You don't have any "On My Mac" mailboxes
Most well-known independent mail services such as iCloud and Gmail are based on IMAP. On the other hand, ISP-hosted mail services almost always use POP. If your ISP is one of your mail service providers (or the only one), you probably can't use this procedure. Ask for further instructions in that case.
If you know that the conditions above are satisfied, continue as follows.
Quit Mail if it's running. Back up all data.
Open the Library folder in your home folder by holding down the option key and selecting
              Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Inside it is a subfolder named "Mail." Move that folder to the Desktop. You're not moving the Mail application; you're moving a folder named "Mail."
Open the Internet Accounts pane in System Preferences and recreate your mail accounts other than iCloud with the same settings as before. To recreate an iCloud mail account, all you have to do is open the iCloud preference pane and check the box marked Mail.
Launch Mail. If all goes well, your mailboxes should be restored automatically. The messages will be downloaded from the servers, so it may take a long time if you have very large mailboxes. Some people have mailboxes in the gigabyte range, and that may be a problem if your bandwidth usage is metered.
If the mailboxes are created successfully, you can delete the folder you moved to the Desktop. You may have to recreate your Mail rules, signatures, and custom stationery. If it's very important to you not to have to do all that, ask for instructions before deleting the folder.

  • Error message - The HP Deskjet 1510 Series was not found

I bought the Deskjet 1514 on 19/07/15 and installed it on my relatively new laptop. It worked ok, then I did the Windows 10 upgrade on 01/08/15. I installed the updated drivers from HP for this device. What ever I do, (have uninstalled software, reinstalled at least 4 times, used the scan doctor, swapped USB cables and ports, cleaned the disk...) I just get the message The HP Deskjet 1510 series was not found, yet when aligning the ink cartridges the scanner will work but I cannot do the test scan in the scan doctor or scan anything using the HP software (which you have to do as there is no proper control panel on the actual device). As bought the device primarily as a scanner, I am not happy and just want the thing to work but haven't a clue how to proceed except to take the thing back to Tesco and get a refund and buy a Canon instead... Please can anyone help as the HP support is useless? The printer part is working fine, which makes it ridiculous.

Hey , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that your HP Deskjet 1514 All-in-One Printer is not being detected via the USB Cable connection on your Windows 10 computer. • Cannot scan to computer with HP Deskjet 1510 due to missing scan icon ?

    Hi there,
    I have recently purchased a HP Deskjet 1510 series printer ;
the installation of the drivers on my Windows XP laptop went well, however now when I double-click the HP Deskjet 1510 series icon on my desktop, the panel that opens up contains the PRINT icon but NOT the SCAN icon ..
Does anyone know what I could do please ?
    Thanks for the help,
    R.R

    Hi Jamieson
sorry for the late reply but I was away for a while.
As per your advice, I've run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, but on the final screen, it says that it is "unable to find
the HP scan application software on [my] computer".
This is strange, considering that the installation software came out of the box from the CD..
    Screen captures here after:
(I ran the tool twice, with the 2 different sources but got the same result twice):
The Scan Doctor finally recommended me to download and install the latest Full Feature software from HP Customer
    Care:
So I installed the latest Full Feature software, but when I ran it, the install failed (!).
    Screen capture:
Right now, I can scan using mspaint, but I really would like to have the SCAN button in the HP panel.
Do you think there is a quick fix, or should I give up looking for a solution and simply use mspaint ?
    Regards

  • Scanner not working hp deskjet 1510 all in one

Hi.. i have hp deskjet 1510 all in one printer, at first all are working so well. but after 3 days scanner is not working. Everytime i try to scan "hp series not found" will appear. I also tried the print and scan doctor but it shows Hp twain scan error. I dont know whats the problem. i tried to uninstall and install it again using the installation cd and so with the the software and driver provided by hp but still not working. Pls help me to fix this one. Thank you...

    Hi jkshipra22,
Thank you for your reply! For further assistance I will need to know:
If the printer is able to make copies by itself. Copy Text or Mixed Documents.
If the power cable plugged into a surge protector, or directly to the wall outlet. Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector. This applies to Inkjet printers as well.
In the meantime, please try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens.
Hope to hear from you, and have a nice day!

  • My brand new HP Deskjet 1510 all-in-one series Cant print

This new HP 1510 All in one series that I just bought is not consistent in printing and most of the times it picks the paper and makes a bipping sound and then stops. It will then give a printing error report and spit out the paper with no print. This is driving me crazy. I have uninstalled and installed a couple of times but the problem persists. At times it prints and at times it doesn't. you can barely tell when it is going to print and most of the times it doesnt. I really need suggestions please

Hello there @Drawingston , welcome to the forums
I read your post about your Deskjet 1510 not printing consistently from your Windows 8.1 system, and when it prints, the pages are blank. I will surely try to help you!
I would suggest that you try a few things, they are:
Run the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. Please send me the results in a screen shot or write them in a response.
Try a different USB cable that runs directly from the back of the printer, to the PC.
Click this guide and try cleaning the paper rollers: The Printer Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper
Reset the printer and make sure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors.
Try printing again from more than one program.
Let me know all of the results
    Good luck!

  • HP Deskjet 1510 scanner not responding

My scanner has decided to spontaneously stop working. I have had the printer for approximately 8 months and not encountered any problems until now. The photocopying side of things works perfectly fine, i.e. if I put a photo in the scanner it will print it straight away, no questions asked. However, to scan a photo to the computer itself is where the problem lies. It will make a noise as though it is scanning but then a message will appear on screen that says the scanner is unreachable. I've installed all necessary updates and have tried the usual turning it off and on again and unplugging from the wall with no luck. I then tried uninstalling and reinstalling to find the same problem still persists. Any help on the matter?

    Hi @snicholls28 ,
I see that you are experiencing issues scanning a document, but you can copy fine. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
Please try the steps in this document to see if it will help resolve this scanning error.
A 'Scanner Unreachable' or 'An error occurred while scanning' Message Displays for HP Deskjet 1510, ...
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (did it print or scan, any error messages)
If the issue continues, check the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) services.
Windows: HP Scan Software Does Not Open or Scan on a Printer Using a USB Connection.
Disregard the title. Go to Solution three: Check the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) services.

  • HP deskjet 1510 cant scan

I have a problem with my HP 1510 All in one which can print but can not scan . When I try to open the desktop icon "HP Scan” appears this message "HP Deskjet 1510 series does not exist" .  Well , the steps I took .
I Unplug and then reattach the power cable
I uninstall and reinstall the software
    I update the software
When I run the HP Print and Scan Doctor and the "fixing scanning problems"  a message "HP Twain scan Error"  appears . I follow the instructions and I restart my computer . When I try again to scan the problem remains. The printer can print but denies to scan and the message continues to be displayed.
I don't know what else I can do.
    Thanks

    Hello nhzt,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Sorry to hear about your scanning issues with the Deskjet 1510. The troubleshooting steps you have taken already are great, normally would have resolved this for you.
Try the suggestions in this Thread: Re: HELP! Problem using HPSCAN.exe or TWAIN driver for HP Laserjet Pro cm1415fnw using Windows 7, pcwizard was able to resolve this error by checking the services running on the computer.

  • Pc2510 Check Right Printer Cartridge/Not Supported/Hourglass Errors

    Hello!
If anyone has had success resolving these errors, please let me know, even if it has meant replacing your print cartridge. Thanks!
    Error Description:
Original problem: The printer cartridge error message "Check Right Printer Cartridge" is blocking any use of the psc 2510, including scan and nonprinting noncopying functions.
Current problem:Hourglass freeze accompanied by printer sounds (alignment?) which stop, but screen message never advances past hourglass..
    Summary of Troubleshooting:
I received an error saying: check cartridge in right stall. Tried cleaning contacts on printer cartridge and printer contacts with distilled water. In process of employing other tactics in online tutorial, I tried unplugging power while the printer was open. Ever since, it just runs through hourglass and printer sound, but does not advance past this screen icon.
    Customer Technical Support:
Suggested a semi-reset of # and 6 keys plus unplug and replug or try new print cartridge. When asked if there was anything I could try before purchase of a new cartridge, suggested I unplug and hold power buton for 10 seconds, then replug. (Full description of these at bottom). Upon further research, representative suggested an upgrade.
Hourglass fix attempts employed from forums:
Tried to plug into wall outlet vs. power strip. (Fully plugged in loose connection to brick when noticed was not in all the way.) Reset modem. No results.
    What I Haven't Tried:
Have not tried a new printer cartridge until have exhausted all non-monetary fixes.
    Full Description of Troubleshooting:
The first error: check cartridge in right stall occurred suddenly after problem-free use.
The contacts on the black cartridge were cleaned but the error persisted.
After disconnecting use for a time, I reconnected last night to troubleshoot printer cartridge error on current Mac machine. Installation was completed successfully.
The same error occurred once setup was complete.
    I performed the following:
    1) cleaned contacts on black cartridge using distilled water.
    2) unplugged power cord (per post in forum)
    3) unplugged power cord and tried pressing cancel/left arrow (per same post in forum)
    4) cleaned contacts behind black cartridge on printer
    5) removed black cartridge, closed machine and got insert black cartridge error (attempt to determine which cartridge was the problem)
    6) Even though this message appeared to indicate the black cartridge was the problem (per web support article) I cleaned the contacts on and behind the color cartridge as well.
In the course of all of this trouble shooting I got a second error: "Print cartridge in right stall not supported."
I noticed that the fit is looser than in the color cartridge. I inspected the spring and cartridge area for damage and found none. Cleaned dirt however below contacts on machine.
Also, at one point during the trouble shooting I was able to get to the scan menu but then it quickly reverted to the first error message.
    7) Per general support article online, I tried unplugging the power while the lid was opened (as indicated during cleaning of cartridges.) This information was not in the manual that came with my machine. I was hoping this might reset things.
Then I got the third error: a period of sounds of the printer (alignment?) followed by hour glass on screen.
The 2510 appears to be frozen. No buttons like cancel or menu or on button caused any response.
I unplugged it again (this time with the lid closed) and got the same series. A period of sounds like alignment and then a halt of sounds with the hourglass still on the screen.
Customer Service Rep sent the following:
    Email 1:
    1.      While the printer is powered on, without turning it off, unplug the power cable from it.
    2.      Press and hold the # and 6 keys together and while you are holding them, plug the power cord into the printer
    3.      Hold the keys for about 30 seconds, while the printer tries to power on, and release the buttons.
    4.      If the printer turns off, use the on button to power on the printer, and follow the instructions on the display.
If it still comes up with the same error, I request you to try with a new black cartridge and get back to us with the results.
    Email 2:
    1.      While the printer is powered on, without turning off the printer, unplug the power cable from it
    2.      Press and hold the on button for about 10 seconds and release it.
    3.      After about 1 minute, plug the power cord back and try powering on the unit.
The reason I suggested to try with a new cartridge is because whenever the printer powers on, it does a self test to make sure all the hardware components are working fine, which includes the cartridges. So if there is any error with the cartridge, then the printer might freeze if it is unable to determine the cause of the issue or the point of failure.
    Email 3:
I did some research and the issue seems more likely with the hardware of the printer.[...]
If the issue persists, get back to us with the information below for upgrade options for your printer.
    Forums:
I then tried unplugging from power strip into wall outlet and resetting modem without result. Noticed blue light for wireless connection is no longer on.

I had the same issue with my 7610 (error=print cartridge not installed correctly), and tried some of the listed suggestions - opened up another brand new cartridge - same issue; put the old one back in - same issue.  So I knew it wasn't a defective cartridge, but rather something wrong with the spring that supports the cartridge, because it didn't seem to 'click' in correctly anymore.  Compared the spring on the black (right) side, to the color (left) side, and saw the spring hanging down.  Put it back in place a couple times - still without success - until I looked closer and saw that part of the plastic that holds the spring in place must have just broken off.  Tried t a little piece of tape to hold the spring in place, and finally, the cartridge worked - for now.  Hope this helps someone else if they're having the same issue.  Good luck!

  • Volume structure failed (error = -92)?

what does volume structure failed (error = -92) mean?

The flashing ? folder merely means it has no system folder it can see. A bad directory can cause this problem*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/directoryfaq.html
The bad directory may also be the result of an automatic shutdown not happening properly like you described, so it is hard to know which came first, the chicken or the egg.
It is also hard to know if the result of the bad directory has also rendered the power management preferences damaged, or if the power manager itself or battery is damaged.
