i have an IDT High Definition sound card that i am trying to set up to use for karoke .
I have tried the recording and playback settings- no go. this sound card has is separate software that was preinstalled on my laptop.
Please Help!.

Hi,
Docking station or port replicator won't solve the problem because of your internal graphics card. You need something which is similar to the following products:
    http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/
or USB to 2 VGA monitors but very hard to find (normally you can only get 1 VGA and 1 other, not both VGA's).

  • HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx not turning on using AC power supply.

         Windows 7 64bit
    3. Error message (if any):
Dose not turn-on  on AC power or charge the battery
    4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred:
        None
    Summary of the poroblem:
    Facts:
    1) The laptop works perfectly fine using the battery.
    2) The battery dose not charge using the AC adapter that came with the laptop.
    3) The battery dose not charge when the laptop is turned on or off.
    4) No chaging light turns on when pluged into AC.
    5) When the battery is pluged into the battery slot on the laptop, the white AC power led on the dc jack turns off.
6)The very second I remove the battery from the computer, the white AC power led on the dc jack turns back on!

    2) Used different battery, but had the same problem.
    Interesting fact:
When the battery is completly drained out, the white AC power led on the dc jack turns on, but I still cannot turn on the laptop on AC power supply.
    Note:
I Have a multimeter that I want to use to test the power supply and charging circuit on the motherboard, but I don't have a schamatics of the mother board, so I am stuck.
Any suggestions from the HP community would be appriciated. Thanks.

The laptop has a modular DC jack that plugs into the motherboard with a cable and does not require soldering. The first thing to try is a replacement of that jack. Here is the Service Manual:

  • SOLVED: HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx Windows 7 Recovery Partition Failed, Windows Partition Formatted

Hello everyone. I just joined the community, so I apologize in advance if I am in the wrong place or if I do not supply all the needed information about my computer and problem in this first post.
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-1355dx Entertainment Notebook PC, which came with Windows 7 Home Edition, and an HP Recovery Partition. Today, I decided I wanted to start from scratch, as the system was getting pretty slow, and the User folders were becoming very unorganized. So I followed the instructions found at the HP website and used the program HP Recovery Manager. However, after the Recovery Partition formatted the Windows Partition, and had three minutes left to copy the files into the new partition, a message popped up declaring the recovery failed, and the computer had to be rebooted. So now I have a computer with no operating system on it at all, and the Recovery Partition continues to fail. I have used the Recovery Partition before, and this has never happened.
Has anyone encountered or know of a similar issue? Does anyone know a solution? Am I out of luck, or is there someway to ask HP for a copy of the installation media?
    Thank you in advance.
EDIT: Never mind. I found a forum post with my answer. Sorry to anyone who spent the time to read this post.

  • Hp pavilion dv6-1355dx USB Problem.

    Hello,
I have an hp pavilion dv6-1355dx laptop computer. Recently my HDD crashed and i replaced it with a new one reinstalling Windows 7 64bit. Everything works great, besides my USB's. None of my USB ports work, and in my System devices > Universal Serial Bus Controllers it shows the yellow exclamation point under the multiple "Intel(R) ICH9 Family USB Universal Host Controller -####". I understand the USB support is based in the Chipset software and I have reinstalled this multiple times. This computer is running a T6600 Intel Core 2 Duo with Intel Series 4 Express Chipset. I have also tried to update driver software within device manager and it tells me my driver software is up to date. Does anyone have any insight about this? Below is a screencap of device manager.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, all! I might be bringing up a pretty old topic, but I've registered on this forum, because I've encountered similar problem. I googled and found quite a few people with the same question, some of them on this very forum as well.
The solution provided here didnt work for me, and it took me a few hours to figure out why my controllers kept returning code 37. All usb ports were working fine up until i started updating windows 7 x64 drivers for the dv6-1326ss, downloading them from the official page. The reason why the problem occured was the accidantly installed AMD USB filter driver, so i followed the steps described here, manually deleted all the troubled lines in the divice manager, and rebooted. After the reboot, all of the drivers have succesfully installed from the windows update center, but something tells me, that reinstalling chipset driver would work just as well. Hope that helps somebody.

  • Upgrading memory in hp dv6-1355dx

    Hi,
I am having a ton of problems with my hp dv6-1355dx. at one point it was running very very very slowly and would barely pull up the programs installed on it. I didn't have any indication that there was a virus because I have virus protection installed on it and I run scans every week. After some research I managed to clean it up and it started to run faster but I was told that since I had had the laptop since 2009 that I should upgrad some parts. So, I researched more about this and came up to the conclusion that I would upgrad the RAM to 8GB from the 4GB that is installed on it. I also decided that I would upgrade the hard drive from 500GB to 1TB simple because I have 100GB left and I love downloading new games from origin. I brought the parts an Patriot 8GB kit (2 x 4GB) ddr3 pc3-10600 (1333MHz) SODIMM kit for the RAM. And an WD 1TB hard drive. I also purchased a cloning kit to change over all the data from the laptop to the wd 1TB hard drive. it took 4hrs and once finished I installed it into the laptop and NOTHING HAPPEN. The screen never came on! So I took out the new hard drive and replaced it with the old one and everyhting started as normal. So I tried about 8-10 more times with the hard drive (cloning and formating) and still nothing happen and not to add during the last 3 trys of the cloning process it kept throwing error messages, I just gave up with the hard drive and moved to the ram. I installed the ram just as HP states in the user guide and once again NOTHING HAPPENS THE SCREEN NEVER CAME ON!!!! So like before I took out the ram and tried again with the old ram and everything worked fine. So I decided to look up the spare parts for this model and I discovered that HP does use that part anymore and the new part brings up a completely different ram the, ddr3 12800-1600MHz still 8gb and all. So I returned the ram and brought the new one, installed it and...... NOTHING HAPPENS AGAIN the screen still did not come on. Now I replaced the old ram for the hundredth time and just as before the laptop comes on.
So my questions is, Is the dv6-1355dx laptop able to be upgraded or did I just purchase the wrong items? Does it matter which brand I buy for the ram and hard drive or should I try to stick to what is in the system?. Should I take it to the professionals or is this something I can fix? What ram and hard drive is best for this laptop?
I really love this laptop and I really dont want to buy another laptop because the parts were not that expensive so I am trying everything to keep this laptop up and running. I am open for ideas and tips on how to improve and fix these problems.
Thanks kindly for reading this I tried to be as detailed as possible but if I left anyhting out please let me know and I will update it as soon as possible.
Thanks again for helping me out.

I really really need some help with this can someone please help....

  • HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6 1355dx

I have the HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv6 1355dx. It has 4GB of RAM. Right now I have 1 left. Ive noticed that my computer has slowed down considerably so I wanted to add add'l RAM. Since I don't see and add'l port I cant add anymore (or can I?)  What would happen if I replaced the 4GB with a 6 or 8 GB? Can my data be transferred over or would I lose it all?

    Hi:
Below is the link to the manuals page for your notebook.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01893242&lc=en&product=40432...
Chapter 1 of the maintenance and service guide states the maximum memory that can be installed in your model is 2 x 4 GB of PC2-6400 memory, for a total of 8GB.
Be prepared to pay around $100 dollars for a 4 GB PC2-6400 memory module.
There is conflicting information as well.
The product specs page states your model uses DDR3 memory, so before getting any kind of memory you will first need to confirm whether your notebook uses DDR2 memory or DDR3 memory.
DDR2 memory will not fit in a DDR3 memory slot and visa versa because they run on different voltages.
The product specs page also indicates that both memory slots are filled with 2 x 2 GB of memory.

  • Pavilion dv6-6c35dx - Sound not working after a HP Support update

    Pavilion dv6-6c35dx with windows 7
I recently did a factory reset, and with the reset had to do all the updates. One of those updates from the HP Support assist was IDT High Definition Audio CODEC version 6.10.6381.0 on driver stwrt64.sys. And with that update i no longer have sound. When i put the cursor over the sound icon on the toolbar it says no headphones or speakers are plugged in. I already tried disabling and re-enableing the AMD HDMI output audio device through the control panel menus, didnt work, also it says its not plugged in. When i go into the hp supprt assist, to troubleshoot, to audio and sound, the status on the IDT says Error(52).
    How do i fix this?

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
It would appear that you two are experiencing different issues. I will definitely address both of you!
First, I feel it would be wise to perform a System Restore. You can return the computer to a point before the issue existed. Here's how to do it: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
If that doesn't work, then look at the below suggestions:
*Before any real troubleshooting, please put your computer in a clean boot state. This should prevent third-party programs from interfering. This document provides information on how to do it: How to perform a clean boot in Windows*
*Next, unlock a new Administrator account, so we can troubleshoot on a clean account. Open Command Prompt as Administrator, and hit Enter after typing the following: net user administrator /active:yes
You will be able to log out of your current user account, and log into the Administrator one.
*Finally, make sure all of your Windows updates are complete:
    1. Open "Windows Update" in Control Panel.
    2. Click "Settings", and then click "Install optional updates".
    3. Next, click "Check for updates".
If that step doesn't work, then look below for the appropriate troubleshooting:
@epicness50 , you need to perform all of the steps in this document: No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 7)
Also, since there is a Device Manager Error 52 issue, you may want to look here for additional information and suggestions: Code 52: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device
*The above Microsoft document is for Windows Vista and Server 2008, but the troubleshooting can be done in Windows 7.
@LENNY12 , you mentioned you uninstalled and reinstalled Support Assistant. However, I'm going to ask you to do it again, but with a little more troubleshooting to address what could be causing the issue.
Source of the troubleshooting is my own post: HP Support Assistant Windows 8.1
Uninstall your version of Support Assistant in Control Panel, Programs and Features, then restart the computer.
Solution: Download Support Assistant from its own special home
    1. Click on the following link: HP Support Assistant. It will bring you to the following page:
    2. Click on "Notebooks, laptops, netbooks " under "Download HP Support Assistant". It will prompt you to download it. So save it, then run it AS ADMINISTRATOR.
If either of you are still experiencing issues,  I would perform a System Recovery to reinstall Windows. This will rule out which of the above options are to blame.
First, you should backup your data. I will provide information on how to do that: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7)
Once this is done, it is safe to do the System Recovery. Here is some information on how to do this: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)
Thanks and have a great day!

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

I have a HP Pavilion DV6-6182NR, and my sound has stopped working. I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling the driver. I've updated everything. Rolled it back. Updated again. Nothing has worked. When I test the audio, it shows the sound working, but no sound can be heard...even through headphones.

Hello, I booted up my computer today to no sound. The last time I used it, which was two days ago, the sound worked perfectly, but now the sound is not working at all. I have tried headphones and speakers, nothing works. I have tried to do a system restore to when it last worked, tried installing a new driver, and I am still getting no sound. It could be that I installed the incorrect driver or didn't install it correctly. Thanks in advance for any help, I will put my system info below.
