HP Envy 4502 - "Driver is unavailable"

I have the HP Envy 4502. Yesterday when I tried to print it kept saying printer offline. I couldn't get anything to work. I uninstalled it and tried to re-install and it will still not work. It lets me download the HP 4500 series driver software (there is no HP Envy 4502 specific I guess?) and when it is downloading it will not install over wireless. My wireless is working perfectly fine, I have restarted my computer, restarted my modem, restarted my wireless router and it even tells me that my printer is connected and ready to print and ePrint. I can only complete the installation by plugging it in through USB. When I go try to add the device, it adds the printer but then tells me "Driver is unavilable." The only option then in my settings is to remove the device. It made me download the hp AiO Remote app and that tells me I am connected to the printer but it isn't installed.
WHY can't I install it when it worked for months before? Someone please help. Thank you.

Setting up new printer HP envy 4502 all in one.  It is locked on "wi fi" hookup on front panel and will not come off of that setting, loading software and drive to hook up on USB is unsuccessful saying the drive did not load.  Tried drivers off the enclosed disc and also tried it off of the internet site, in both cases it is unsuccessful loading driviers.  Utilized three different USB cables and check devices and the printer does appear to be loading under "printers" but is not functional.  All 14 USB ports lare indicated to be working properly yet we did try different USB ports with no success

  • Can't update driver HP Envy 4502-e

Hello, I don't understand how to update my HP Envy 4502-e drivers (all-in-one printer). I am on windows 7. Device manager shows my driver for the printer as version 30.0.1044.40289, driver date 16/12/2012.You're website shows a more recent driver 32.3, driver date jul 30 2014. If I download the driver and try to install, it blinks from step 1 "Prepare", then stays on Step 2 "connect". If I click continue the only options are 'connect a new printer' or 'reconfigure wireless settings' (and also an option to add software if I download the 'full software and drivers'  file, but the software options are just things like HP Photosmart and not a driver install). I've tried downloading both the basic driver installation and the 'full software and drivers' file, but there's no driver update from the installation. Device manager still shows the 2012 verion 30.0.1044.40289. If I try to update through device manager it says it's up-to-date. HP Update also doesn't show any driver updates. Can you explain what is going on, and how to update your drivers? Do I have to uninstall the old driver or something before I can update? Thanks

Hi Marin456, Sometime it's best to completely uninstall the drivers and start fresh.    Check out this forum posting/link on how-to completely uninstall/reinstall your software drivers.  Good Luck!

  • Hp envy 4502 cutting off tops of photos

When I try to print photos with my Envy 4502, the photos always are cut off at the top - anywhere from 3/4" to practically the entire photo.  The results are never consistant as to how much of the photo is cut off, but it is ALWAYS cut off.   I am using Corel Paint Shop Pro X6 (64-bit).  I am using glossy photo paper (230gsm, 10 mil) and have tried custom setting the margins, which doesn't seem to have any affect.  I set up the printer to photo paper, borderless off, and have tried using the best resolution and the normal resolution.  Nothing seems to help.  I am up to date with the driver and software for my printer and also for the Corel program.  I sure hope you can help.  I feel like I am wasting so much ink, which is so expensive that I can't afford to print out unacceptable prints.

Welcome , I would like to see if I can help you with printing your photos correctly. I was wondering, if you save the photo and open it with another program - does it print properly? When you explain the photo is cut-off, does it look like the photo is shifted, cropped or just missing? I found several documents that talk about the print settings, you could see if any have a setting you haven't tried yet;Print Photos Saved on Your Computer (Windows)Printing Documents (Windows)Printing and Changing Print Settings (Windows)Changing Print Settings in Windows 8Changing Default Print Settings Please let me know if any of these steps resolved your issue, or if there is anything else I can do to help.  I look forward to hearing from you!  Thanks,

  • HP Printer Envy 4502 & Windows 10

I have recently updated to windows 10 and my printer HP Envy 4502 will not print. I removed the drivers and downloaded the new drivers and software but still the same. I can run a test print and all other using the HP Printer Assistant, Maintaining your printer I can print a Print Quality Diagnostic report. So this shows me that the printer driver is working correct just that the interface to all over software to print is not. When I use other softer like Microsoft word and note pad the document spools but I get nothing printed from the printer.I am using the wifi to print so no direct cabling is connected but as above prints without this during a test print this seams not to be the problem. I do have another printer of another make and this acts the same. Can anyone advise?Thank you

Hi Autocharge, It is possible the issue could be with an incompatible driver. I would recommend to try the following steps in this order:  Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.Disable any Antivirus programs. Disable Antivirus software.Disable any firewall programs. Windows Firewall from start to finish.Create a new user account. Managing User Accounts and Logins (Windows 8).Reinstall using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows. (These steps will also work on Windows 10.) Hope this resolves your issue!  “Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.”

  • Envy 4502 Won't Print

I just got an Envy 4502 yesterday. I don't have a cd drive on my laptop so I didn't bother with that part fo the installation, although it is recommended. I am using a printer cable connection. It prints the alignment document fine as well as the info page, but when I go to print a word document or a download it gives no signs of even receiving the message to print. It just sits there and does nothing.

Yeah it wasn't a matter of the queue being overwhelmed, I tried clearing it before, unplugging it and starting from scratch, did nothing. I tried uninstalling it and restarting the computer and reinstalling, now it gives me a notification that it needs troubleshooting, when I go to troubleshoot it says it has no results or couldn't find any issues.

The HP envy 4502 will not scan or copy . It prints fine. I updated drivers. I've uninstalled and reinstalled . Downloaded the hp print and scan doctor which ran for 8 hours with no results. I've also done the printer reset. Nothing seems to be working.

I'm sorry to hear that your printer will not Scan or copy.  When you attempt to do a regular photo copy on the printer, are you getting any error codes?  Another thing to look for when doing a copy is once you have started the copy, lift the top lid and see if the scanner bar is going across the unit and if the light is on.

  • I am looking for a free app that will let me type and edit my home work please.  I am using my 7.1.1 I pad. The wireless printer working great bought it at walmart. An hp envy 4502

I Am looking for an app free app that will allow me to type and edit my homework.     I am  using a 7.1.1 version of I pad.   I have a wireless printer from Walmart hp envy 4502 which is working great.  Appreciate any input

Only two devices on our plan, so not so much an issue. And I have found myself using it much more than I thought I would when we got them (also first smart phones for both of us). Even got my wife to use hers for checking email while we were out of the country (big step forward for her ). I'm very interested in the ApplePay, but will want to wait a bit before diving into it. And since both phones are still in great working order, will likely wait a bit for the upgrade (sometime next year?). Will depend, I suppose, on the kinds of deals we see and what the plans turn out to be for updating my iPad and getting here one.

  • My HP ENVY 4502 won't print more than a few pages at a time

I'm having real trouble printing from my HP ENVY 4502. Over the last couple of months whenever I have tried to use double sided printing, when the printer comes to printing on the reverse side of the page an on screen message appears saying "Error printing on HP ENVY 4502" and the printer cancels the document half way through the page. More recently when I have tried to print multiple copies of a document on a single side the same message appears after 2-3 pages and the printer cancels the document.
I'm not sure what to do about this - I have tried various different settings on the printer but none seem to make a difference. Printing is now becoming very time consuming and I'm also wasting a lot of paper as a result.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Jamille,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I have a couple of questions for you for starters:
What Operating System are you using Windows or Mac? What version? If you do not know the Operating System you are using, please visit this website. Whatsmyos.
What happens if you plug in a USB 2.0 printer cable and print instead of wireless? Does the same thing happen?
I would suggest to go through one of these guides: (depending on the Operating System you are using.)

  • Envy 4502 all in one won't print from Windows XP

I just set up and successfully installed the software for my Envy 4502 on an old PC running Windows XP.  The internal test page comes out fine, but when I send a document it appears very briefly in the print queue then disappears and the document won't print.  Any ideas.  I've tried all the stuff that the HP Doctor suggests, uninstalling then reinstalling etc.

    Hi @Sianeo
Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you print from your Windows XP operating system to your Envy 4502 printer. I understand your print jobs seem to be disappearing from the print queue.
What stuff did you try already? WHat did the Print and Scan Doctor suggest?
Please try bypassing the spooler to see if you can print directly to the printer.
    1. Click on start and go to devices and printers.
    2. Right click on  the printer and click on printer properties.
    3. Choose the option "Print directly to the printer".
    4. Click apply and then ok.
If this works follow the next steps and try to print again.
Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
    Type services.msc and press Enter
Locate Print Spooler and double click on it to open the Spooler properties
Make sure startup type is set to Automatic, if it is not please click on the drop down and choose Automatic
Under Service status, please Stop the server, and then wait a moment and click Start
If bypassing the spooler does not result in a successful print, let me know. Please post back to let me know if the issue is resolved, if bypassing the spooler led to a successful print, and what steps you had performed prior to posting on the forums. Thanks.

  • I cannot get the envy 4502 to communicate with my computer. The CD won't run

I cannot get the envy 4502 to start. I get no on-screen message and the CD won't run

Hi there @Billcotter welcome to the HP community
I saw your post about your Envy 4502 not starting. I am looking for some more information from you to better understand what exactly is happening.
I could very well be wrong, as it sounds like the printer itself is not turning on and the installation is not starting.
Please let me know if the printer will power on, and if so, do you see any errors on the printer?
    Will the printer make copies?
Which operating system are you running on your computer?
Just to be a little proactive, I want to include the direct link where you can download and install the printer from the website. Try this method instead of the CD: HP ENVY 4502 e-All-in-One Printer Drivers

  • HpB210 status: Driver is Unavailable"

I am about to go mentally crazy..I have install and paid for some Whiz scanner and tried to download a driver software updates and I still get an error when I try to print something. It say;" Status: Driver is Unavailable". I even bought the McAfee virus and scan and fixed everything, as well.It must be a problem with my laptop, which is an HP, that is only 2 years old. I have even tried to uninstall the printer and it wont let me. I even went and bought another HP printer and had the same issue.I CAN print from my ipad or iphone, so it must be the laptop. I feel I will probably have to contact HP tech support but they always want more $$ to even talk to you!! I have already invested $$ for 2 other update/scanners, I need help..any ideas??

Looks to be JMB38X MS Host Controller:
    http://www.pcidatabase.com/search.php?device_search_str=2383&device_search=Search
That should be JMicron card reader.
What you try is the Windows 8 or Windows 7 driver that is available for the card reader for your computer from the manufacturer.
You may have to use "compatibility mode" to install the driver.

  • HP Envy Hard Drive Imminent Failure message

I've been getting this error when I turn on my laptop. It reads "SMART Hard Drive detects imminent failure. To ensure no data loss, backup contents and contact HP"
I've run the Hard Drive Self Test and it has failed that along with most of the other tests on the list that pops up. My laptop still works fine but I was curious as to if I should get my hard drive replaced and how to go about doing that? My warranty expired at the end of December, though the first instance of  this happened before December. I forgot about it since I usually never turn off my laptop.
I've been trying to find out if I could purchase an extended warrantee or another method to get it fixed and replaced through HP. Any help would be appreciated.
I have a HP Envy 14-1154ca Beats edition.

This is a warning message stating that the hard drive would die soon. Please the backup of all your personal data as the system is currently working fine. Refer the following weblink for more information:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00480479&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
You cannot buy an extended warranty when there is a hardware failure on the unit. I would recommend you just buy another hard drive and then think of buying an extended warranty from HP.
    I am an HP employee.
