HP LA2205wg monitor flickering

When I turn on the monitor, it immediately starts to flicker like it needs degaussing. I thought it was the computer driver, so I disconnected it from the computer and tried it again. It flickers with no input from computer. It was given to me so I have no idea of its history.

Hello @kevmarcol,
I understand that you are having an issue where your HP Compaq LA2205wg 22-inch Widescreen LCD Monitor is flickering even when disconnected from the computer. I am providing you with some steps you can try below:
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 2. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it

  • HDMI Monitor flickers

I have an VGA Monitor connected via adaptor to the HDMI port as a second Monitor to my Thunderbolt display. The VGA Monitor flickers and it was suggested to upgrade the firmware. But the system tells me the firmware is not for my system (Mac mini Model A1347 from autumn 2011).
How can I fix this problem?

    What monitor(s)...?
If one has (Digital) DVI input, then you should use it on the HDMI port with the Apple Supplied HDMI to DVI adapter and a good DVI cable.
If both have (Digital) DVI input, then it would be best if the second one was also on a Thunderbolt/MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter instead of analog VGA.

  • Monitor flickers

    Greetings,
I have a new mac mini with 16 mb memory, 2 T hd and acer 24" monitor connected to the DVI to usb connection. Latley and from some unknow reason , the monitor flickers every once and a while.
Is there an issue with the mac mini? Or the video card in the mac mini? Or is there some issue with the monitor compatibility?

  • Computer Monitor Flickers

My computer monitor flickers if we tap it on the side it stops, then starts up again, sometimes we go hours and not problem, other times it drives us nuts, We have a  Gateway computer, it works fine except for this monitor problem, it was purchased in 2004,  it has  a "nvidia GE Force 2 MX 400 video card, I checked with Nvidia and tried downloading the latest driver but then the computer wouldn't start so I had to go back to a previous date so that the computer would start, do I need to look at getting a new monitor? IF so what sort of monitor would be best, someone said the resolution would not be good on a wide screen, but the only ones I have found at Best Buy and other places are the wide screens.   I hope someone can  suggest a solution so we can enjoy this second computer and stop hitting the monitor
    thanks Lea

I'm having a similar flickering problem with the LG widescreen LCD monitor which came with our first Vista computer (an HP desktop, purchased about a year after Vista came out).  It mostly only seems to flicker when I'm playing games with animations in the graphics (such as Civilization IV or Astral Masters).  The most common suggestion I found (f.ex. in the HP Help & Support area preinstalled on my computer) was to increase the refresh rate.  Doing this has not eliminated the flickering, but has lessened the severity somewhat (it just flickers as vertical lines or bars at 75hz; at the default of 60hz it flickered as both vertical and horizontal lines).  I ran HP's Monitor Diagnostic Tool (which included a simple wireframe animation), and it didn't turn up any problems.
Hockeycanuckjc's suggestions sound pretty practical, and I'll try them.  I've also seen on another thread on this board that Nvidia graphics cards (my HP computer has an Nvidia Geforce 8500GT) can have issues with the drivers, especially after Windows Vista has just automatically downloaded its latest updates -- so it's possible that the graphics card driver could be getting cranky (though I haven't yet confirmed or denied that theory in regard to my own computer).
I think my HP computer is still covered under its Extended Service Plan (though I'd have to check the sales receipt to be sure), but I want to do as much troubleshooting as I can before calling Best Buy tech support, so I'll be able to explain my problem more knowledgeably, and hopefully not have to jump through as many hoops as usual before they authorize an in-home service call.

  • Lenovo Monitor Flickers constantly

    Hi All,
I have a Lenovo L197 Wide connected to a Server 2003 box (also lenovo) and the monitor flickers constantly. The refresh rate is set to default and I can't change it to see if it has any effect.
    Anyone any ideas?
    Cheers
    Andy.

    welcome to the forum.
are you using fluorescent lights nearby?   if so, does the monitor still flicker with the light(s) turned off?
have you tested the monitor on another computer, with a different cable, with a different video card, or a different monitor altogether with the server 2003 machine to eliminate any variables?
if the above checks out then your L197 either has a defective inverter or its backlight is failing.   warranty is your best option in this case.

  • Monitors flickering badly after Yosemite Install

Monitor flickering badly after Yosemite installed
I will be awaiting upDated drivers in a release soon.
I notice is very badly when I connect my iphone to ITunes screen
goes crazy flicker. . . . Anyone else having this issue ?

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Z200 won't work with the HP Compaq LA2205WG monitor

I have a z200 that I recently purchased from ebay. I have a LA2205WG monitor that I am trying to connect to it. The z200 has a DVI-I connector while the monitor has a DVI-D connector. I am under the impression that this setup should work because I thought the DVI-I would connect to any other DVI connector. However, the monitor does not recognize the computer. It will give a message "no input devices found. Going to sleep" or something similar to that. I am at work and so may not  have the verbage exactly right. So, I tried a VGA adapter. Using the DVI connector from the computer, I connected to the VGA connector on the monitor. Still get no display. Monitor still gives same message.Am I missing something or does it sound more like a hardware issue as I am beginning to think( As In bad video card, etc).Any information that can be shared will be greatly appreciated.

I would be checking hardware. Dont suppose you have a spare monitor and pc lying around? Maybe Haul it to work and do some swapping around. Figure out if its the monitor or ports on pc.

  • Upgraded iMac G3/233 now the monitor flickers?

I wanted to upgrade an original iMac Bondi Blue for a friend but after installing everything the monitor flickers? I added 256 of ram (2 x128) and a 8gig hard drive (5400rpm) both adhere to apples specs. I think I may have ensembled something wrong which is causing it to flicker but I'm unsure. I think it may be the CD drive since I found it to be a little loose for my liking when I inserted it back (2 claps seems hardly enough). Is there anyway of tell if I did install it right? Maybe there is something I didn't hook in?
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks in advance, Shane

I'd suggest going back over the process of disassembly and reassembly, to make sure that everything was returned to its original state. Check the cabling that you detached and reconnected, to be certain that every connection is snug. If you haven't checked it out, this web site is a useful reference for upgrading the tray-loading iMacs. It seems unlikely, but the video flicker may be coincidental and unrelated to the hardware upgrades. Hopefully, you'll find the source of the problem and rule out a secondary hardware issue.

  • Monitor flickers with green tint

Monitor is about 3 years old. Often times, the screen takes on a blue-green tint. Sometimes just flashes on, then back to normal a few times.  Sometimes tint stays for a minute or two. All images are visable, but everything has a strange greenish cast to it.

    Hello @snelson600,
I have read your post on how your desktop's monitor flickers with a green tint, and I would be happy to help you!
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it
Step 6. Try a different cable connecting your monitor to your computer
If the above steps did not resolve your issue you can try the monitor on a computer or other device to see if the issue persists. Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

  • Monitor flickering with T500 with accell dual-link-dp adapter

I have an HP LP3065 30 inch external monitor, 2560x1600, that I'd like to drive off my T500. I am now on my second accell display-port to dual link dvi adapter and am still getting periodic blackouts of the monitor which last less than a second. At first I thought it was due to insufficient power to the adapter provided through the usb port, as has been reported in various places, so I got a high powered usb hub with ac adapter. Didn't help. Accell said it must be a lenovo problem and that they had "reported" the issue to lenovo. I exchanged the adapter for a new one on the off chance it might be a manufacturing issue but the new one is just the same. Has anyone gotten this configuration to work properly? If so, what dp-dual link dvi adapter are you using? Any special adjustments to your settings? I have the ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 card. All drivers are current as is the BIOS.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi greigite,
    Welcome to the Lenovo forum!
Is the Accell B087B-002B the adapter you are using? I haven't used such an adaper, but it looks very nice. It gets excellent reviews on Amazon, though at least one reviewer recommended connecting it to a powered USB hub to eliminate display flickering. You've done that already -- suppose you could try a different powered USB hub on the off chance that the first one is defective, but that seems unlikely.
You might have a look at the power-saving features of your ATI video card. I think you can right-click on your desktop to start "ATI Catalyst Control Center" (if not, think you can find it in the Start menu). One of the panels of CCC lets you adjust power saving profiles, and whether to reduce the vertical refresh rate below the usual 60 Hz. You could try turning the vertical refresh rate reduction feature off, and maybe try some different power-saving profiles.
How often does the flickering occur? Like, once every 20 minutes, or less often?
    Best regards,
    Frank

  • Monitor flickering

There's a vertical line across the screen, and flickering horizontally. I tried connecting the monitor to different computers, and trying vga, dvi and hdmi cables. So it seems to be a problem with the actual screen I believe. It's not under warranty. The Monitor is a HP 2210m. I was wondering if it's something that can be repaired through it's settings or manually repaired by myself or if there's no way of fixing it at all.

    Hi travelingsoul,
    Welcome to the Forums
I saw your image of your monitor issue, along with your post describing the problem. There may be a way to rid the problem through troubleshooting. I have found a guide I am going to suggest following in hopes to help this.

  • External monitor flickers when waking up from sleep

I use an external monitor with my new MacBook. All works well, but I have noticed that if I start using the external after the screen has gone to sleep, I sometimes get a problem on the external where the screen flickers and breaks up. If I disconnect and reconnect the Mini DisplayPort then the problem resolves, has anyone else seen this?
    Tony

I have the same issue with my new macbook.
When i wake the computer from a partial sleep the screen flickers and i get line distortion through the image.
If i put the machine to sleep unplug the mini dvi adapter and replug it in and wake the computer up the problem disappears.
The issue is also intermittent doing about 3 times out of every 10 wake ups...
If anyone has any suggestions it would be great, I a using a new Dell 2208WFP monitor.
