My printer just started making a noise when it is printing. Any ideas?

You might need to find out the location from which noise is being produced (paper input tray, rear side, right side, fan area, delivery roller area etc.) and also type/category of noise (mild/loud, grinding, chattering, squeky, humming etc.).
As a basic step try replacing the toner cartridge with genuine HP toner cartrdige or you may test the toner cartridge being used with another printer.

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understood that you have recently installed Windows 7 again, since the LaserJet 1022n will not install. If you are getting "turn printer on" messages when the printer is on, you have to check the USB connection between printer and computer.
Have you tried to installed using the HP full feature software and drivers for this printer? If not it is a free download: HP LaserJet Full Feature Software and Driver.

Help, Upgraded to Yosemite and now my HP Laser jet 1320 printer will not work!

Two days ago I upgraded to Yosemite on my Imac. Now my HP 1320 Laser jet will not print at all!!! I need a printer for my eBay business ASAP and this is not good. The printer is a driver version 19.8 Is it compatible with the new program? I am so frustrated.

From your post I see that you're unable to print to your HP LaserJet 1320 series after upgrading to Yosemite on your Mac. I defintely understand how frustrating this is, especially since printing is vital to your business. The printer driver version 19.8 is the most current version available. To troubleshoot the issue however where you're unable to print, please follow the steps in the article below.
USB printers and Bonjour-enabled network printers
Follow these steps until the issue is addressed:
Make sure that the printer is powered on, has ink / toner, and that there are no alerts on the printer’s control panel.Note:If you cannot clear an alert on the printer's control panel, stop here and check the printer's documentation or contact the manufacturer for support.
Ensure the printer is properly connected to a USB port on the Mac or AirPort base station / Time Capsule. If the printer is a network-capable printer, make sure that it is properly connected to your home network.
UseSoftware Update to find and install the latest available updates. If an update is installed, see if the issue persists.
Open the Print & Scan pane or Print & Fax (Snow Leopard) pane in System Preferences.
Deletethe affected printer, thenaddthe printer again.
If the issue persists, try these additional steps:
Resetthe printing system, then add the printer again.
If the issue still persists,resetthe printing system again. Download and installyour printer's drivers. Then, add the printer again.
Contact the printer vendor or visit their website for further assistance.

HP Laser Jet 1320 w/ Mac OSX Yosemite10.10.4

My HP Laser Jet 1302 is a fabulous printer. It was working well until a a couple days ago. The print command goes thru the USB cord and makes the printer blink & the que says it is ready to print. But it doesn't print. Is there a new driver or something I need to get it working again? Why was it working, but now doesn't w/ this new Yosemite 10.10.4 upgrade that was newly installed? Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jim

PRINTER DRIVERS AND DEVICE TYPES:
In R/3, a distinction is made between "printer driver" and "device type". The device type consists of all the attributes defined for an output device. For correct access, these must be made known in the R/3 system. They cover aspects such as control commands for font selection, page size, character set selection, character set used and so on. One of these attributes is the printer driver to be used by SAPscript (R/3 forms processor) for this particular printer.
If your printer is not specified in the list below, ask the manufacturer if the printer is compatible with one of the defined printers or if it can be used with another emulation (for example, Postscript).
If the printer is not compatible or cannot be operated using an emulation, you must create a new device type (if the printer is not compatible). To print from SAPscript, you must choose one of the existing printer drivers.
At present, there are five SAPscript printer drivers. They include:
for HP-PCL5 (for example, HP Laserjet 3,4,5,6 series)
for PostScript printers (PS level 2)
for PRESCRIBE (for example, Kyocera FS-1500)
for device types SWIN/SAPWIN/xxSWIN/xxSAPWIN
for all other models.
The last driver is known as the "standard driver". It cannot provide absolutely precise positioning on the paper and does not support proportional fonts. Printer drivers are relevant for forms output with SAPscript. For the output of ABAP lists special printer drivers are only used as of Release 4.5A. They are anchored in the C kernel and are developed and maintained exclusively by SAP.
In the spool environment, device types refer not only to printers but also other output devices, for example, fax machines. Device types support specific printers or printer models. Device type definitions are stored completely in tables and can be individually adapted, modified or enhanced. If SAP performs such an adjustment for a customer, it constitutes a consulting service, and is generally charged seperately. On the other hand, the list of device types, above all in conjunction with SAP's hardware partners, is continually expanded.
COMPATIBLE PRINTERS:
Some printer models have been so successful on the market that many OEM products, clones and compatibles are also listed. You can often use compatible printers with R/3 by entering the printer definition of the original. Since complete compatibility is extremely rare, SAP can offer no assurances regarding the usability of compatible printers. This also applies to follow-up models made by the original producer.
LIST OF PRINTERS:
This is the list of device types supplied by SAP in different Releases. Most of these device types use "Western European" or "North American" character sets. Some device types in newer Releases however, also support other character sets and language areas such as Russian or Czech.
The device types named in this list are supported in the standard R/3 System as of the release mentioned.
If an OCR-A font (prerequisite for check printing) or an OCR-B font is supported in the R/3 device types, this is indicated. However, this generally requires additional font cassettes or firmware for the printer involved, since few printers have an OCR-A font "built in." For additional information about this, contact the printer manufacturer.

SAPWIN
Generic device type for printers linked (or also fax devices) to PCs running under MS Windows 3.1, Windows 95 or Windows NT by means of the R/3 program SAPLPD. Windows printer drivers are used and the character set is ISO 8859-1. Barcode printing from R/3 is possible with the additional installation of a third-party DLL (see Note 25344), but is not supported in the standard system. OCR-A and OCR-B fonts are possible with an appropriate TrueType font (see also Note 48803).

As of Release 3.0E, you can use SAPWIN to:
Print proportional fonts and lines/boxes in SAPscript
Print black and white as well as color TIFF graphics (with the 32-bit SAPlpd on Windows 95 and Windows NT only).

SWIN
Generic device type for printing/faxing using MS Windows with SAPlpd. It is available as of Release 3.1H. Device type SWIN differs from SAPWIN in the layout of X_... formats for ABAP/4 list printing. The font size and line spacing were adjusted, particularly for color list printing.
In addition, SAPWIN contains an expanded list of SAPscript printer fonts for current releases, for example, Greek and Russian.

IBM4226
Device type for the IBM 4226 line printers from Lexmark. The IBM emulation and the character set IBM 850 are used.
IBM4232

IBM6408

IBMAFP
Device type for IBM's external SAP2AFP converter. The R/3 spool output is converted to AFPDS format and passed to IBM AFP software. IBMAFP must be used for 240 pel AFP printers.
Character set is ISO 8859-1 (Latin 1). OCR-A and OCR-B are supported, as well as barcodes.
IBMAFP is for use on R/3 UNIX and Windows NT platforms.
IBMEFP is the proper device type for AS/400 R/3 Platforms and uses the EBCDIC character set.
IBMAFP3
Device type for IBM's external SAP2AFP converter that converts the R/3 spool output to an AFPDS format and sends it to IBM AFP software.IBMAFP3 can be used only in conjunction with spool-exit (access method Z when defining the device type). Selection of printers connected via R/3 is not possible. IBMAFP3 must be used for 300 pel AFP printers.
Character set is ISO 8859-1 (Latin 1). OCR-A and OCR-B are supported, as well as barcodes.
IBMAFP3 is for use on UNIX and Windows NT platforms.
IBMEFP3 is the proper device type for AS/400 R/3 Platforms and uses the EBCDIC character set.
IBMSCS
Device Type IBMSCS supports the "basic IBMSNA Character String" data stream for printers that are connected under IBM OS/400. IBMSCS is only supported for the use under SAP R/3 on hardware platforms IBM AS/400.
LX4039
Device type for the Lexmark laser printer series 4039. OCR-A/OCR-B are included in the printer definition. However, the printer requires an additional firmware/typeface cassette. "HP LASERJET barcodes & MORE FONT CARTRIDGE" is required. Barcode printing from R/3 is not supported.
KYOFS150
Device type for the Kyocera laser printer FS-1500, FS-3500, FS-1550+. OCR fonts are not supported. Barcode printing is supported.
NECP30
Device type for the NEC matrix printers P20/P30. The character set used is IBM codepage 850 (multilingual).
NECP72
Device type for the NEC matrix printers P62/P72. The NEC Pinwriter level 2 emulation and the character set IBM codepage 850 (multilingual) are used. OCR-A/OCR-B are included in the printer definition. However, the printer requires an additional firmware/font cassette.
NECPW
Device type for the NEC 48-pin Pinwriter P5XL, P9XL, P6/P7, P6plus/P7plus, P2200, P2plus, P60/P70, P90, P20/P30, P22Q/P32Q, P42/P52, P62/P72. The character set IBM codepage 850 (multilingual) is used.
SNI4011
Device type for the 24-pin version of the SNI 4011 dot matrix printer. The EPSON LQ-850+ emulation and character set IBM codepage 850 (multilingual) are used. OCR-A/OCR-B are included in the printer definition. The printer has these fonts built in.
SNI20XX8
Device type for the Siemens-Nixdorf 2050-8, 2075-8 and 2090-8 laser printers (HP-LaserJet emulation). For operation with R/3, you need to obtain a special font diskette for the printer from SNI. This contains the fonts required, including OCR-A and OCR-B. Barcode printing from R/3 is not supported.
MT2033
Device type for the Mannesmann-Tally T2033 matrix printer. Uses MTPL+IBM Proprinter emulation and IBM codepage II for the character set. OCR-A/OCR-B are included in the printer definition. These fonts are built into the printer at the factory.
MT2045
Device type for the Mannesmann-Tally T2045 matrix printer. Uses MTPL+IBM Proprinter emulation and IBM codepage II for the character set. OCR-A/OCR-B are included in the printer definition. These fonts are built into the printer at the factory.

This device type works exclusively with the Russian Windows 95 or NT 4.0 (not with Windows 3.1). To use it, a 32 bit version of the SAPlpd with a number 4.00 or higher is required.

Device type HPLJ4000 offers improved output of ABAP print lists by using a special PCL-5-printer drivers and can therefore only be used in Releases as of 4.5A.
I9HP4
Device type for Turkey for all printers of the Hewlett-Packard LaserJet 4 printer series (among others LaserJet 4/4m, 4Plus/4mPlus, 4V/4mV, 4Si). I9HP4 uses character set "ISO 8859/9" (Latin 5). OCR-A/ OCR-B are contained in the device type, however, the printer needs extra firmware or an extra font cartridge. The "HP LASERJET BarCodes & MORE FONT CARTRIDGE" or a corresponding SIMM module is needed for this. The SIMM module "JetCAPS Intelligent Barcode SIMM" is a requirement for printing barcodes from R/3 with printers of the HP LaserJet 4 series and is supported.
KYOFS170
Device type for the Kyocera laser printer FS-1700. OCR fonts are not supported. Barcode printing is supported.
Device type KYOFS170 offers improved output of ABAP print lists by using a special PRESCRIBE-II-printer driver and can therefore only be used in Releases as of 4.5A.
POST2
New device type for PostScript-level-2-printer which can be used alternatively to POSTSCPT. Barcode printing and OCR printing from R/3 is not supported.
Device type POST2 offers an improved output of ABAP print lists by using a special PostScript-L2-printer driver and can therefore only be used in Releases as of 4.5A.

Device type for Hewlett Packard LaserJet 8000, 8000N, 8000DN printers. HPLJ8000 uses character set "ISO 8859/1" (Latin 1). For the barcode print from R/3 with HP LaserJet 4000, the DIMM module "JetCAPS Intelligent Barcode DIMM" is required and supported. In addition to the barcodes this DIMM module contains the OCR-A and OCR-B fonts that are supported by HPLJ4000.

Mac OSx 10.8.5 and HP laser jet 2100M printer w/ driver version 19.8--Doesn't print!

I've got a macbook pro with Mac OSx 10.8.5. I've successfully printed with my HP Laser jet 2100M printer until recently. The driver version is 19.8. I don't know what changed but about a month ago the printer says "printing--connected to printer" but it never prints. What do I need to do to get my printer and my macbook to communicate again and start printing? I also have a mac mini desktop running on mac osx 10.7.5 and it doesn't talk to the HP Laser jet 2100M either (also driver 19.8.Please, can you tell me how configure so these macs will be able to print to my printer?

I have had a similar issue with my HP LaserJet 1320 printer on OS X 10.8. On certain PDF files (only those that I have tested so far), the data will send fine from the computer (and the job goes away) but the printer balks and drops the print job on its end. It's only when I save it as an image in Preview and then print will it work (advice from this forum post). However, when I updated the driver from 19.8 to 19.13 (in the Apple Software Update), it seemed to fix it. Do you know what changed between 19.8 to 19.13?

How do I use my HP Laser Jet 4M printer work with my OS 10.9 MacBook Pro

A "newbie" here. I am having trouble getting my new Macbook Pro and its 10.9 OS to accept my HP Laser Jet 4M+ printer. HP apparently does not support the Mac's OS10.9. Any help appreciated.

Ok, I've downloaded the drivers as suggested.but still not printing as it should.
It's now printing one page as opposed to many, but it still has the jargon on top of the page as depicted in my original post?
From this info you advised, it does suggest, does it not, that the HP Laser Jet 6p is supported.
Meanwhile, any other advice.

Laser Jet 1020 will no longer print Internet/email. Error message is res://ieframe/dll/preview.js

Laser Jet 1020 used to print just fine from internet explorer. Suddenly it quit printing and I get an error message res://ieframe.dll/preview.js The bottom of the error message asks if I want to cancel script. Prints fine from other windows applications. From the Internet, the correct printer is selected? Any suggestions?!

The issue is caused when Windows creates the printer profile in the control panel that it doesn't correctly create it with the drivers.
We're not going to completely uninstall all the HP software, instead we're going to remove the corrupt Windows printer profile and reinstall it. Total time for this on an average computer is about 5-10 minutes to completely repair (including reboot).
1) Navigate to Start Menu > Devices and Printers or Start Menu > Control Panel > Printers
2) Select each printer profile for the printer with an issue, then select remove device/printer.
3) Reboot
4) Navigate to Start Menu > All Programs > HP > insert model # here > Add Printer (or Setup Wizard)
5) Follow the setup prompts to reinstall the printer profile and it recreates the Windows printer.
6) Run the HP Update Tool from Start Menu > All Programs > HP if your printer installs it, rebooting afterwards if necessary.
7) Test by printing google.com (uses very little ink when the test page comes out).

I see by your post that the USB isn't being recognized.
I can help you with this issue.
Are you using the same USB cable? (known good USB cable)
You want to use the normal USB slot 2.0 cable and not the latest USB 3.0.
USB 3.0 are supposed to be backwards compatible.
Try another USB port on the Laptop, some of the USB ports are more powered then others.
I have provided a document to see if the printer is partially recognized in the device manager, which is causing the printer not to be recognized again. (the uninstall from the CD should have removed the entry and the printer from the registry)
Leave the printer turned on and the USB cable connected directly to the computer and the printer's power cord directly into a wall outlet.
How do I get into Windows Device Manager?

Check to see if there are any hardware driver conflicts, you might see a ! mark or a red x beside a device with a conflict or unknown device, look under universal serial bus controllers, look for USB printing support or mass storage device, delete the entry by right clicking and select uninstall, OK.

If this is a Laptop then check the power management settings.
Access the device manager. Windows 8-How do I access the Device Manager.
Select universal serial bus controllers from the list, for each USB root hub, right click and left click on properties, for power management remove the check mark for "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power". It allows the computer to limit or turn off power for this device.
Disconnect the USB, run the full uninstall and reinstall the printer software again.

All in one HP Laser Jet Pro 200 Color MFP (M276n) stopped working

I have an HP Laser Jet Pro 200 Color MFP (M276n) that I had installed and woking fine.
I changed my desk and removed the USB from the computer and when I plugged it in again i could not print or use any of the functions through the computer. I'm running 64bit Win 7.
I've tried unistalling the printer and downloading the laster driver package from HP.com.
But when I try installing it and come to where the installationprogram want me to connect the USB-cabel the printer doesn't show up (I can't click "Next" to begin installtion).
So right know I cant print and I can't reinstall the printer.
How do I fix this??

Make sure the usb cable is plugged in properly, the right port at the back of the printer. If still doean't work, maybe get a new usb cable?

HP 1100A Laser Jet printer and Vista

Has anyone had success using a HP1100A laser jet with the Vista operating system? I had it working for a short period, but then it just stoped printing. I used an adaptor cable to match the printer to a USB port. I then installed a parallel port card to the computer. Still no luck printing. I can hook the 1100A to a computer with XP and it works fine. Vista does not recogonize the 1100A. I had a neighbor who is a computer programer look at it and he says the computer is not communicating with the printer. He tried using several different drivers from the HP website, plus tried using the disk that came with the printer, all without success.

I configured my 1100 as a 1000. If you follow the directions this should take care of it. I'm not sure if I lost any of the functionality, but I do know I'm now using my Business Inkjet 1100 as intended with Vista even though HP says this model isn't supported in Vista 64bit. I'm a much happier camper now. I'm not sure if this was the printer you were talking about or not. Good luck.

Lost printing to HP Laser Jet following installation of upgrade 10.8.2

I noticed from the BB that this issue is already out there, but I am not sure what course of action to take.   I have a IMac with 10.8.2 installed as part of an upgrade from 10.7.x. My HP Color Laser Jet CM1312nfi MFP worked fine.   Once the upgrade nothing.   From the HP support web site, I read the following:
HP LaserJet and Color LaserJet Printers, MFPs, and All-in-Ones - Products not supported or with limited support in OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)
which leads me to believe that this printer is "done" and cannot be made to work with this OS.   I am looking for a work around for a perfectly good printer. HP, while not asked has not offered a solution and my take from Apple is that the new OS is supposed to take care of all the issues, both old and new.   I am willing to uninstall any an all software if it will solve the problem.   I am not interested in returning to another older OS.   I did install the new patch provided by Apple, it did not work and I may need to redo if not done correctrly.   It did not solve the problem.   Has anyone found a workable solution to this problem?   I would be appreciative to any suggestions that will help.   Thanks

Thanks for this response. I was able to get the printer working following a bunch of "re-tuning" of setting and the like.   To be clear, I did install this patch from Apple.   While Apple or HP is not clear, I found that it was better to clean house of all old printer (HP listings), remove sharing from the network settings, installing the patch at least twice and then selecting the printer a second time around.   Lo and behold, I selected " Print a Test Page" and after what I thought was a long wait, got the completed test page. As indicated on the HP web page, I did lose the ability to scan via the HP Director software. Not sure that will be a problem as I can still scan to the external memory card and save the image(s).   Progess and change has its cost and I will have to accept this change as part of that evolution.   The new Mac OS has removed many of the folders etc that I was familiar with from earlier times.   The good news is that I can print and that is what really matters.   Thanks again for your suggestion.
