HP Mini 210-1000sa Track Pad Problem

I've just bought a HP Mini 210-1000sa and I'm finding the Track pad truely AWFUL to use - not at all up to the usual HP high quality.
As the left and right buttons are part of the track pad "sensitive" area, when you use one finger to position the cursor then touch the left button area with another finger the track pad will either:
a) move the cursor to a new position!
b) ignore your click because you already have a finger touching the pad (leading to having to make several click attempts!
c) it might work
A further problem is that although the buttons give a re-assuring "click", as they are part of the "sensitive" area of the pad, if your finger is too high on the paad (ie outside the marked area of the button), it will still "click" but nothing happens.
Is there an update (software or hardware) to fix this problem?  I'm finding it unusable as it is, I have to use an external usb or bluetooth mouse.  This partly defeats the object of having an ultra portable device!
Thanks for any help ...
Gavin

  • Tracking Pad problem/other stuff

Two days ago my 3 and 4 finger tracking pad commands stopped working. Restarting didn't help. Then after walking away while it was on and coming back a few hours later, the commands started working again. They worked for a little over 24 hours and now they stopped working again. What could this be?
Also, I have been having some other problems such as the audio jack continually resetting every time I change the input (I have to go to audio and midi settings every time and click the drop-down menu for it to work). The thread is here: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=11086478
Also 4 days ago a docx file wouldn't open that I wrote and saved on this computer. No matter what I do I cannot open it in word, only in the text editer program.
Any solutions to these problems would be appreciated, also let me know if they seem to be related. This computer is brand new so I don't understand why so many things would be going wrong this quickly and are unrelated. Thanks alot,
    -Austin

Since this Mac is brand new, it's probably worth bringing all this to Apple's attention and letting them sort it out. No idea what is going on here, but if it is hardware related, they need to fix it or possibly replace the machine.
    Good luck!

  • "swollen battery" cause track pad problem?

I got my 17" MBP in June 06. All was fine until recently when I started experiencing the battery problems listed so many times here. Random shut downs, random battery readings, and finally, a bulging battery. Swollen out of the compartment. First call to Apple resulted in my being told their was "no documentation for this problem, first I am hearing of this".....I needed to "see a genius". Lo and behold, the discussions, where I found loads of documentation, as well as other websites. Called Apple back, and am being sent a new battery....HOWEVER....I inquired as to my track pad clicker not working properly, which started the same time as the battery problems..asked if this could be due to the "swollen battery" since it sits on the flip side of the track pad....again, I was told of "no complaints about that"........now again, I have found similar complaints in the discussions, but only a few. Is anyone else having this problem???? Please tell of any track pad click problems.
I don't think this has anything to do with the update to OSX 10.4.9....I think it has to do with the age of the battery.....most problems seem to be happening around the same age frame of battery.
I am new to discussion posting....please have patience if done incorrectly.

I was very glad to read this topic. I also am having trouble with my click pad on a 17" MBP bought in July 06 and am needing to replace a really swollen battery. I was planning on taking my computer to the nearest Apple store today but it is quite a distance. I hadn't thought about calling -- your post saved me a long drive:) I was wondering if I precipitated the battery problem because I tend to always have my computer plugged in. Just read that that's not the best thing for the battery.

    Hello BiancaBriandt,
    Welcome to the Community
Seems your handheld is getting hanged that is why your trackpad stucks ferquently. Please try by deleting 3rd party apps using below mentioned procedure...
Menu (Blackberry Sign) from home screen > select maximise panel > Option > Security > Security Wipe > Select Only 3rd party app > Type blackberry in given space and click on wipe.
Hope this may help you to come out of this...........
    Good luck

  • MacBook Pro Retina - Track Pad problem - not responding

the main click portion of the track pad hardly clicks when using it, and sometimes is not responsive. The right click portion of the track pad is fine.

There are no hard wired zones on the trackpad for right and left clicks, although you can set it up to do this in System Preferences have you done that? In any case, the trackpad is engineered so that the outer portion is less clickable than the inner portion. If you really feel something is wrong, go to the Genius Bar.

  • Tracking Pad problems caused by mouse

I used a mouse on my Macbook Pro for the first time and after removing the mouse the tracking pad will not open documents? Does anyone know how to fix this?

It is a known issue but still not solved:
Remove Hotkey-Features from your computer (setup gets found in C:\Drivers\Win\Hotkey or C:\SWTOOLS\Drivers\Win\Hotkey)
Download an install Hotkey-Features from Lenovo Website.
Sometimes the Power Management Driver also is affected. In that case remove it AND the Hotkey-Features and install both again.

  • Track pad problem with retina iMac

I have a brad new 27" Retina iMac - I selected the wireless keyboard and trackpad. The trackpad seems to drop it bluetooth connection after the iMac sleeps - limited functionality is still available but System Preferences (both trackpad and Bluetooth) claim they cannot find a trackpad. Apple Support have said this issue has been reported a number of times but all suggestions do not help. My new iMac is 2 days "old" - I'm almost ready to send it back under the 10-day return policy and wait a couple of months until this issue is fixed. Can anyone help???

I wrote too soon. No matter what I do, I can no longer swipe between pages with my track pad. The mouse works fine. I can get to mission control with a three or four finger gesture depending upon how I set it in preferences.
I see how I got caught with the 3 and 4 finger swipe settings: the preferences panel makes sure you don't try to do two things with the same setting and will automatically revise settings accordingly. Logical enough.

  • Cursor/tracking pad problem

I am using a mac book pro with mountain Lion 10.8.2. the tracking with the cursor is off. over reactive, freezing. Clicking on things randomly, cursor tavelling all over page. any ideas. It was running fine yesterday. no prior problem with this.

If you have more than one pointing device "connected" (and a Bluetooth device is always connected unless you intervene and shut it down) your Mac uses an "all devices active" philosophy. You can literally move the cursor with the "sum" of two pointing devices.
(You can type every-other-letter on two keyboards as well.)

  • Track pad problem! Read. Please answers if you know...

    Hi,
Recently my dad gave me his old blackberry curve as he purchased the new blackberry torch. It worked fine for a week then the tracked stopped and I couldn't move around on my phenomenal the other buttons worked I could type BBM but the tracked didn't work, but shortly after, after I turned it off and on it started working again, so I thought it was just a glitch. Then it kept happening until on day about a week back it stopped and didn't move. So I got a new tracked fitted for £20 then it worked, I was really pleased. But then the next day it stopped. I figured out that if you push in the back it starts working again? It has been treated well. Is there any thought or was to fix this please....

UPDATE:  I have learned that my problem is related to a "resourse folder" which must go wherever the file goes in order for it to have sound.  This is a bit inconvinient for me, as my client is computer illiterate.  I really want to find a way to just embed the sound into a file that you can just open and play.  To the best of my knowlege, SWF format is the only format that allows for the page turning animation.  Does anyone know a way to embed the sound into the SWF file or am I SOL here?

  • Mac Yosemite Photoshop Elements 12 track pad problem

Is Adobe fixing this? Need it fixed NOW!

    Hi,
We sincerely apologize for the problem customers are facing while using a trackpad with Photoshop Elements 11 & 12 on Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite).
We have been actively working with Apple to resolve this problem as quickly as possible. We're hopeful this will get completely resolved in an upcoming update of Yosemite(MAC 10.10).
In the meanwhile, you have two options to work around this problem:
    1. Option1: Use a mouse instead of the trackpad
    2. Option2: Install a plug-in which should workaround the problem
    Plug-in installation instructions:
    1. Close Photoshop Elements
    2. Download this zip file to a location you can easily find (e.g. your desktop)
    3. Unzip the file, WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin, and move it to the Plug-In folder:
    • For Elements 12 – //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 12/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
    • For Elements 11 - //Applications/Adobe Photoshop Elements 11/Support Files/Plug-Ins/
You can verify the plug-in is installed by launching the Photoshop Elements Editor and choosing Help > System Info... Scroll to the bottom of the text in the dialog and look for the plug-in name "WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin".
Note: This plugin is a temporary workaround and should be used until this issue is addressed in Mac OSX 10.10 (Yosemite). Please remove this plugin once the issue is officially resolved by Apple.
If you are using a stylus in conjunction with a trackpad, you might see issues with your trackpad. Workaround in this particular case is to use mouse instead of the trackpad.
    Hope this helps!

  • Mac Book Pro Track Pad Making Mac Unusable. Already been replaced once! (I need to write my law school paper, help me please!!!!)

I got my Mac Book Pro repaired in late July of this year. The repair summary says that they replaced the display claim shell, glossy (item number 620-5153). I believe this was due to a clouding on my screen. However, they also replaced the top case with keyboard (item number 605-2953) and the track pad (605-2712). When I took it in I was having problems with the track pad. It would not respond to touch. Wouldn't follow my figure movements, ect. The guy at the Apple Store took it in the back and opened it up. He said it looked like there may be water damage because there was gooey stuff by the battery, so in that case the warranty would be void. I told him that I was 100% certain that no water ever got on it and that if there is gooey stuff in side my macbook that there must be a battery leaking issue. He said that they would have to send it in and the people at the repair center would determine if it had been water damaged or not.
Well, they sent it in to the repair center in Florida (leaving me with out a computer for a week at summer school) and they made the before mentioned repairs. They never asked me questions or anything so I am assuming that meant they rightfully determined there was no water damage.
Aside from some wireless issues the Mac Book had been working okay until tonight. I was typing a paper and all of a sudden the track pad problem came back tonight. I tired to use the computer with the broken trackpad for about 45 minuets but then gave up because it was impossible to use. I shut off the computer and left it off for a good 3 hours before plugging it back in and turning it on. (I tried turning the computer off and then back on again when the problem first occurred and that did not help). I have noticed recently (like the past week) that sometimes it gets way louder then it used to and the last couple of it will randomly will turn off when it still has battery left. Also, ever since I got my mac book pro back from the repair  center Microsoft Word crashes once every 2ish days, but I am unsure if that is related to the current issue.
As I am typing this the touch pad is getting touchy again :(. And as I type it is randomly switching lines so I think the touch pad is being extra sensitive now, Im not sure. Anyway does anyone have any advice? I am in my first year of law school and I NEED MY COMPUTER. It is not an option not to have one for a few days and if I absolutely have to give it to apple I will be forced to buy a cheap computer from Walmart to use in the mean time (Which I REALLY cannot afford).
I am assuming it is the battery pushing of the trackpad or something. Is this correct? I have an appointment with Apple tomorrow but since it is somewhat functioning right now I am unsure of if I should go or not. The store is 45 minuets away and I need it during class each day. But exams are in a month and I cant have it break during those.
I really do not see why Apple would not have replaced the battery when I first brought it in. I identified it as an issue; I am sure someone who works on these computers all day long could have seen it was an issue too. At least, if my assumption that that is the problem is correct. Would getting a mouse that plugs into the USB fix my problems? Or would Apple be willing to just give me a replacement computer since this is the second time this has happened in 2 months and their 1st repair didn’t help? Would Apple be able to fix it in the store or would they be forced to send it to me? Any idea how to fix this?????? Thanks so much! I truly appreciate any help you might have! I am really stressed about this!

BTW (speaking as a Dad of 3 daughters in Grad school) if you don't already have and use a DropBox account, or some other similar online "cloud" based backup of your school documents, you should start doing so immediately. By keeping all of your important documents in the Dropbox folder on your computer, you have instant access to them from any other computer (or iPad), should you be w/o your computer while in for repairs (or if, God forbid, it is stolen). It's free for 2 GB of online storage, which is more than enough for a few years worth of Word documents, etc. (If you get other people to sign up via your email "invitation", then Dropbox gives you even more free storage space.) Every time you close a document, it is updated on the Dropbox servers (encrypted), if it is in the Dropbox folder (assuming you give it a few seconds to update before turning off your computer). Do a google search of "Cloud based storage comparisons" to compare the amount of free space each of the competing services give you.

  • Dual usb with a sticky track pad

I have a 500mhz ibook g3 running 10.4.9 that has a track pad problem. The track pad arrow often sticks as if I was holding down the shift key, or it will randomly click on whatever it is over and open that item up.A quick tap will "reset" it for a little while, but the problem comes back quickly.I reset the PRAM numerous times to no avail.I have replaced the track pad and still no change. It doesn't do it with an external mouse.Would reinstalling Tiger help?
    Thanks
    Tom

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
Have you tried resetting the PMU?
The PMU (Power Management Unit) controls trackpad function, so resetting it often helps when the trackpad isn't working (or isn't working right).
