HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless Printer....indicates a paper jam when there isnt one

Unit was working fine, including wireless.  Now paper jam message keeps reappearing when there isn't a jam.  Any thoughts

If the printer is under warranty, contact HP Support.  If not, it is probably cheaper to buy a new printer than to fix this one.

Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printer says there's a paper jam. Have followed all the steps suggested on HP site...No jammed paper found.  Using Windows Vista.
Read on ablog that there are sometimes false "paper jam" notices.  Anyone else experience this problem?

  • Duplex Printing on a HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 Wireless Printer

Duplex printing - 1.  How do you change the settings to make the printer print on both sides of a single sheet of paper?
                             2.  How do you change the settings to make the printer print on both sides of a single sheer of paper and
when it prints the backside of the sheet it rotates the text so that when you read the text you FLIP it
up vertically to read the backside rather than just turning the over to read the text on the backside.
I thought I knew the answer to this question - but yesterday when I printed an Owner's Manual for a friend the printer printed 10 sheets that you had to FLIP the sheet over to read the text on the other side (Note: FLIP was not "X"'d.  Then when I printed again I changed the setting so that FLIP was "X"d and it printed with the orientation that I needed (just turn the sheet over to read the text  on the backside of the sheet).
NO instructions about "Printer Settings" came with the printer so I am in the dark about "HOW TO" things.  As I said before I thought I need how to do it - but it performed exactly backwards as I had thought,,,Have I got TOO old to remember HOW TO set up settings?  Would appreciate help with this and where I can do to get info about HP Printer Settings.  Thanks in advance.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless print cartridge error

Why can't I just print using only my black ink cartridge.  I don't need the color and it is too expensive to buy.  My printer has two empty color cartridges (which I don't care), but won't let me print only black until the empty color cartridges are replaced.  I ONLY NEED BLACK!!!   Is there any way to get around this problem?????

    Hi there Brzzzzzr,
Lets set the printer to black and white only first. Open your printer prferences and under printing shortcuts select Fast/Economical under printer shortcuts. To the right choose the Black Ink only from the print in grayscale drop down. If the notification still persists you may be able to remove the color cartridge and print. Not models support this though, let us know if it helps.
    Best of Luck!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printing

I am using a lap top with windows 7. I have microsoft office version 2003. I have a document in my excel program that is in landscape position. I need to rotate it 90 degrees clockwise in order to print it in a portrait position. All my other pages for my document is in the portrait position. Need advise on how to rotate it.

     Hi there sorry to learn that you are having this issue;
    Have you tried this;
On the File menu, click Page Setup, and then click the Margins tab.
Under Orientation, click Portrait or Landscape.
If what you want to accomplish is to print some sheets of the document  in portrait and others on landscape. as far as I know you cannot.  you can print the document in 2 parts one with the pages in portrait  selected and the others on landscape on another print job  e.g.. page 1 to 5 (1-5,7,8) without the parenthesis portrait and 6,9,10 which have what you want to print in portrait, that is how I do it when I comfort this issue.
    MS Word 2003
On the File menu, click Print.
    Under Page range, click Pages.
In the Pages box, type instructions to print one of the following:
Note you can do as well print sections,  When you type the range of pages, use the syntax p#s#-p#s#. For example, to print page 5 of section 3 through page 2 of section 4, type p5s3-p2s4. To print nonadjacent pages or nonadjacent sections, use a comma (,) to separate the page and section numbers when you type them. For example, to print sections 3 and 5 (but not section 4), type s3,s5. To print pages 2 through 5 of section 3 and pages 1 through 4 of section 5, type p2s3-p5s3,p1s5-p4s5.
    Please let me know if I can assist you any further; I will do my best to assist you;

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a Print Cancelled when printing borderless A4

    Hi
We have an HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909a that normally works very well. We need to print  a brochure in full colour on A4 borderless and the printer starts printing and then cancels the job itself after printing about a fifth of the page. I have tried all different printing options and it works fine if there is a print margin but will not work for borderless. This applies to printing from all different applications (Microsoft and Adobe).
We urgently need to print the brochure so a speedy resolution would be gratefully received.
    Thanks in advance.

I am having a similar problem printing a two-sided 3-fold brochure in full color. The first side prints normally, but the second side prints two fo the three panels and then printing cancels on the third. I am printing from a Windows 7 laptop over a Wifi connection onto an HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless printer. A solution would be much appreciated!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless Networking with LINKSYS WRT54GS wireless router

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printer conneted via WiFi to my LYNKSYS WRT54GS wireless router.  I do not have a USB cable or ethernet cable plugged to the printer.  I am able to use the 'scan to email button' and the 'scan to network folder' button on the front of the printer and I can pint from the PC to the printer with no problems.
I installed the HP printer software from the CD, choosing network/wireless connection, without having to install any USB cables from the PC to the printer in the process.  many posts in the forum mention having to connect USB cables in the wireless installation process.
Can I install the software in the same fashion on the other two laptops? Or, do I need to do something differently?

The USB cable is used on those printers which do not have display or front panel wireless setup is not possible. We configure the wireless settings during install and save those settings in printer's memory by transferring through USB cable. Therefore the USB is plugged in during wireless installation temporarily. In your case I don't think plugging in USB cable is necessary as the printer is already on network and had IP address. Connect the laptops on wireless network and proceed with regular install, the printer should be detected automatically.

  • "Phone off-hook" HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless, Product CB023A

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 wireless printer/fax/copier all in one.
The message "phone off-hook" appears on my display.
I ran the Fax Test and received a PASS for all results.
A few minutes later, a message appeared on the printer/fax display: "Turn power off, then on again". I did so.
This message, "Turn power off, then on again" continues to repeat and after I turn power off then on, the "phone off-hook" displays again. It is an endless loop of receiving these two messages.
    I also did the following:
    1. Unplugged the telephone fax line from LINE of the Officejet Pro.
    2. Unplugged the power cord to the printer.
    3. Replugged the power cord to the printer.
    4. Powered up the printer
    5. After powering up, the message, "phone off-hook" reappears.
    I ran the fax test

  • Officejet pro 8500 wireless w/ blue screen B8808C14, B8614C64, B8806060 or B8806238 error message

Hi -My printer, HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless Printer A909g connected via USB, was on when our lights flickered. It is plugged into a surge protector.  However, there has been one of four error messages on the touch screen whenever the printer power is on.  B8808C14, B8614C64, B8806060, or B8806238 have come up on a blue screen just after I turn it on to warm up.  No buttons respond on the printer.  Nothing prints.  The computer is running Windows Vista 64 bit and it says the printer is offline.  HP Solution Center on the computer says the printer is disconnected when it is still connected.  If you hit the on/off button the printer turns off for a moment then comes back on to one of the four error code messages listed above.  I have disconnected the printer completely, moved it, and plugged it into a power source in the kitchen and the same error message comes up and no buttons respond.  We've had the printer 18 months with no problems.

Hey Ceres, real quick question for you:
Has this printer ever been set up on a network either wirelessly or wired to your router? I ask because this type of error message (Bxxxxxxx) applies most to printers which are having issues connecting to your network.
You can find more information out here.

I see that you are having an issue when it comes to printing in green.  I also see that you are having some issues with aligning the printer.
I have a few suggestions and with any luck, hopefully get this issue resolved for you.
Please start off by making sure you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip.  I have a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but is meant for HP products in general. Please click the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.

  • Printing problem - HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer, Red color fads on 4th copy

I have an HP HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer, and am trying to print 75 copies of a program for our event. After the first 5-6 pages the RED in my program starts to turn magenta. I have brand new HP ink, and am printing on HP Color Injet Paper. I have renectly replaced the Black/Yellow printhead (at least 6 months ago). At first when I cleaned the printheads, I could print 2 or 3 pages showing my RED color. Then turns back to magenta. When I received the test patterns after cleaning the print heads they are all perfect with no lines.
What is going on and how can I fix it?
    This question was solved.

    Hi TM1997,
I understand you have an Officejet 8500 Wireless that is not printing red properly, it keeps turning to magenta. I'm sorry to hear this, but I will definitely do my best to help you!
As I'm sure you saw, when replacing the black and yellow printhead, that there are two printheads in the Officejet 8500 and the second one controls the magenta and cyan. I would suggest that you first have a look through this Troubleshooting Print Quality Issues document. You can also manually clean your printhead with the steps in this 'The Following Printhead Appears to be Missing or Damaged' or 'The Following Printhead has a Problem... document.
Hope this helps, have a great day!!

  • Printing problem - HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer - printer head?

I posted this elsewhere, but I think I posted it on the wrong Forum so I am posting it here now. I hope I did not do anything to upset anyone. I am new to this area, please forgive my clumsiness.
I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One Printer. I've had my printer since December 2009 and no problems. I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 7 and had to go online to find the drivers that work for my printer. Windows 7 was not compatible with this printer.
Also recently, I am having a problem with what I think may be the black printer head, but when I run diagnostic on it everything comes back saying it is fine. However the problem still exist. When printing the black color will become faded in some areas and in some lines will not only almost totally fade out, but will almost look italic.
Can you tell me if this is the printer head and does it need replacing or is there another problem?
    SondraS

Are you using genuine HP cartridges and not refilled or third-party cartridges?
Print the Print Quality Diagnostic page from the setup menu/print report/ on the printer's front panel
Are there any quality issues with this page?
