Hp officejet pro 8500a - get "error - printing" on all documents

Quick history:
Both my laptop and my printer HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910 have been working happily for months, with wireless connection via Belkin wireless hub.
> Had printer jam errors - so just replaced printer under warranty - completed set-up - printed test pages - wireless connection ok (did wireless test report, albeit signal quality "Very low", but has always been like that and worked in past.)
> Printing word document - just generates error "Error - printing" and stays stuck in queue.
Anything else that has happened in interim ...
> I have installed LiveDrive in the interim to back up all my files on the cloud - works in the background. Can't imagine it's relevant?
> Any help greatfully received, driving me mad!!
Neil

Hi Rossainz,  I don't know that I can answer 'what is wrong with it', but I would be happy to help you figure it out and better yet, resolve the issue. Let's first try leaving the printer on and unplugging the power cable out of the back. Leave it unplugged for a full minute during which time you can hold down the power button for just a few seconds to help release and build up power, then plug the power cable back in.  If the issue persists, please let me know and we will see what other solutions might do the trick.

  • Hp officejet pro 8500a won't print or copy without turning off then on again

HP Officejet pro 8500A, Will not print, copy or print received fax. HP icon on the Printer screen just spins, but never prints.  The print jobs show in the Que, but never print out. If I shut off the printer and turn it back on it will print, but after a short while it stops again. It has also asked for ink to be replaced.

    Hello pcmtgrl
Which model of the Officejet 8500A series do you have? Typically you can find it inside the printer where you change the ink cartridges. Example: A910g, A910a, etc.
Has anything changed recently since the problem started? Is the printer plugged into a wall outlet or a surge protector? Do you have the latest firmware installed? I also suggest running the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility. Let me know if it finds anything out.

Then the another message saying to turn the power off then on again and the screen flashes.  Now the printer isn't connected to the computer  and I have not put any paper in it. HI @anewleaf , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I see you're running into copy and print issues.  I'd love to help!
I have a few questions before we get the ball rolling:
Are you using Windows or Macintosh?
If you are using Windows, is it a 32-bit or a 64-bit system?
    Do you recieve any errors?
Is the printer not printing any pages, or printing blank pages?
I'm including documents that will help you find the system info:
Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Which Windows operating system am I running?
Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?
Please let me know what you find.  Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Officejet pro 8500a a910n error pump stalled

had to replace ink supply all 4 of them.
then i get an error that the pump is stalled.

Sorry to tell you that this normally means that the ink system has failed on the printer
    - you can try the steps in this document
    http://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/HP-Officejet-Pro-8500A-e-All-in-One-Printer---A910a/4083864/mode...
    This may help resolve this.
If not it means you need a new printer
(on the plus side the newer units have a better ink system that produces less waste and the cartridges are cheaper)

  • I have successfully installed printer officejet pro 8500a but cannot print my emails.

How do I print e-mails on my new printer HP Officejet Pro 8500A?

That depends of  your e-mail service. If you are using Outlook, or just directly using Hotmail/Gmail/other mail service...
Or, are you getting an error when you try to print e-mails?
Or, are you trying to use ePrint?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A Used to print now I have to reinstall everyday

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8500A Plus e-All-in-One Printer - A910g that used to work beautifully.
My computer hung one day and I had to hard restart it (kill the power after it was frozen for 10 minutes) . Since then I have to uninstall the HP printer (from the Start menu) and reinstall it daily in order for the printer to be recognized an able to communicater.  I ran the diagnostic utility - it was found on the network, the IP address does not change, my PC finds it and I can open the printer page in the browser, see all of the address information, ink information etc.
I can print a test page from the browser, but when I try to print a pdf or print from word I get the message unable to communicae with Printer.
I am thinking I need to completely wipe the HP software and start over, but the uninstaller does not do that.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is getting really annoying.
    Thanks

Try using the multilevel uninstaller in the HP software driver CD. Browse the contents of the CD and look for the "Util" folder and open it. In the "Util" folder, open the "CCC" folder. In the "CCC" folder, double click on the "Uninstall_L3.bat" file. Don't use the "Uninstall_L4.bat" file. It could remove files that have shared dependencies with the HP software. Restart the computer and then reinstall the software afterwards. Let me know if it worked or not.

  • Re: HP Officejet Pro 8500a problem with printing black ink

I have an Officejet Pro 8500A. I did a printhead clean.  I have plenty of black HP ink.  Printhead status indicates black/yellow is good.  I am barely getting any black to print.  All the colors are fine.  Help!

    Hi @di43
I appreciate the troubleshooting you have already completed to resolve the issue. I understand the black ink is not printing as expected. Although you have already done some of the steps in the following document, I suggest completing all of the recommended solutions in the order they are presented, even if that means doing something you already tried; Printer Prints a Blank Page or Does Not Print Black or Color Ink for the HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-Al...
    I hope this helps.

  • Officejet Pro 8500A - unable to print on odd-size paper

After a couple of hours of frustration, I have decided that I an unable to print on odd-sized paper on our brand new HP printer!  On an older string in this user forum, one suggestion was to make a paper cut-out from regular sized paper to put on top of an envelope to "fool" the printer into thinking it was using standard sized paper.  I am trying to print odd-sized wedding invitations, and in order to to do this, I wouldn't be able to use the paper guides intended to keep the smaller paper in the middle.
Another suggestion would be to create a "custom size" paper in the printer properties, which doesn't seem to be possible in Windows XP as far as I can see.
    My card-stock paper measures 4 3/4" x 6 7/8"  Neither 5 x 7" nor 4 x 6" will work and I have tried numerous others, such as Janpanese postcard, Index card 4 x 6, etc.
Any suggestions?  This is frustrating enough to look at other namebrand printers next time, but I guess I'm stuck with this one for a while!

    Hello @drlogan0,
    Welcome to the HP forums.
I understand that you are encountering problems with getting your Officejet pro 8500A onto your new wireless network.
    I would like to help.
i would try restoring the network defaults. This will help erase any 'old' information that may be stuck in the printers memory. I would like to give you specific steps for this, but I am unsure if you have the 8500A, 8500A wireless, or the 8500A premium.
Basically the steps are, go into the network menu, and select restore network defaults.
If you have tried restoring the network defaults already, please review the following troubleshooting documents.

  • Officejet Pro 8500A is not printing with Yellow cartridge. Full cartridge and good health ...

I have an OfficeJet Pro 8500 which is not printing with the Yellow cartridge.  Printing with the Cyan, Magenta, and Black cartridges is fine.  Diagnostics show all cartridges properly installed and having adequate ink supplies.I replaced the Yellow cartridge with a brand new XL cart, but to no avail.  I cleaned the orifice with Isopropyl alcohol and a cotton swab, thinking perhaps there was some dried ink or an impurity there.  The problem still exists. There are no error messages, either via software or at the printer itself.  The printer is out of warranty (imagine that!).I have used HP products for well over 15 years, partly because HP support has been historically excellent.  After reading some of the posts on these forums, it seems that HP has allowed their support quality to diminish - significantly.  I hope that is not the case in real life.Any ideas out there?

I am having same problem. OfficeJet Pro 8500A Premium.  Not printing with Yellow. First replaced Yellow cartridge with new, then spoke with HP Support yesterday and was told that the Black and Yellow Printhead must need to be replaced, at a cost of $49.  New Printhead arrived today, inserted and still having same issue with YELLOW! So, for the cost of a new Multi-Pack of print cartridges (which had the Yellow I used to replace the low ink), and the new Printhead, I could have purchased a NEW CANNON PRINTER.  I have used HP Products for over 20 years - both professionally (HP Plotters) and at home (always HP Printers, Scanners, Multi-devices, etc.  I am VERY frustrated!

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500a problem with printing black ink

I have an Officejet Pro 8500a printer. When I print documents, it will not print anything in black ink. The colors work fine, but black just won't print. The printer claims that the black ink cartridge has plenty of ink, and when I shake it I can tell that there is something in there. So, I don't think it is an issue of the black ink being out. Is there a chance that something is blocking the ink from coming out? Any fixes to this besides buying a new ink cartridge?

Hey , I understand that you are not able to print the court seal on legal documents on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. However, I do need to clarify a few things before I will be able to guide you to a solution.  (1) What program are you printing these court documents through?   (2) Does the court seal appear in a Print Preview window under the program?    Once I have the answers to my two questions above I will be happy to guide you to a solution. • OfficeJet Pro 8500A won't print test page

This printer suddenly won't print, even a test page.   When I try to print from another program I get an error message, document gets stuck in print que.  Wireless is recognized.  Scan Doctor found printer, still it won't print.  Suggestions?

    Hi
The problem seems to be with the  print spooler service.
since you have already tried the print scan doctor
we can try doing it  manually.
Firstly Determine whether the printer is paused or offline
Return to the Devices and printers folder that you opened earlier in this document.
Right-click the name of the product, and then click See what's printing .
    Click Printer .
On the print queue menu bar, click Printer , and then look for the Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline items in the menu.
Make sure that there is no checkmark next to either item. If a checkmark displays next to either item, click to clear it.
If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the issue persists , continue to the next solution
    Manually clear the print queue
Return to the Devices and printers folder that you opened earlier in this document.
Right-click the name of the product, and then click See what's printing .
Click Printer , and then click Cancel All Documents .
Click Yes to confirm the action.
If documents remain in the print queue, restart the computer.
    Try printing again.
If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
    Restart the Print Spooler device
On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon ( ), type admin in the Search programs and files box, and then click Administrative Tools .
    Double-click Services .
    Right-click Print Spooler .
Click Stop to stop the Print Spooler.
Click Start to restart the Print Spooler.
    Restart the computer.
    Try the print job again
