Sounds like your hard drive has failed, you would need to replace it and use the HP recovery discs to install windows again.
Is it under warranty?

  • Cwdss.exe error: can't read memory location

I have 3 PCs running XP, Service Pack 1, each with a frame-grabber card, either NI 1409 and 1409. They run identical code. Each one reads the active video channels in sequence, and saves the new image locally on a DataSocket server. These are in remote locations, with seldom a visitor. The users are near a 4th machine, which gets images from the other 3 by reading their DataSocket servers. It is slower, since it does calculations on each image. This runs 24 hours a day, but about once a day one of the 3 image-capture machines--always the same one--halts, displaying an error message and waiting for someone to notice the message and push "OK". After that, it just keeps on going as if the error was no big problem. But of course it is a problem, since the halt is not noticed for a while.
The error window is titled "Socket Notification Sink: csdss.exe Application Error". It then explains that "The instruction at location 0x0040aaf7 referenced memory at 0x482f6f72. This memory could not be 'read'." It always shows the same instruction and the same read address.
What is this telling me? How can I tell what is going on at the address cited? How can it work for hours and then try an out-of-bounds read? Why does this happen with only one of the three machines? Could this be some infrequent timing conflict between reading and writing to the DataSocket?

I am running Labview 6.1 on a Windows XP machine (Service Pack 1). I never run the code without the DataSocket, since the whole point is offer new images when needed to the PC in the room with the users, which does all the serious calculations. The image is stored in the DataSocket server as a 640 by 480 integer array of either U8 or I16 format, depending on the type of frame-grabber. The machine with the errors has a 1409 and so gets 10-bit data, saved in I16 format. The odd aspects, again, are that the program runs without a hitch for a day or so, then does this illegal read, and that the same code runs on two other machines without this problem ever showing up.

  • Acrodist.exe error, cannot open Illustrator

Since my PC crashed on Monday and has since been repaired, I've been getting the above error upon attempting to open Illustrator CS4, and Illustrator won't open at all.
Bridge, Photoshop, and InDesign are all fine, but Acrobat doesn't open either.
    Any suggestions?

Reinstall Acrobat in Repair mode. Your shared PDF libraries were damaged when it crashed.

  • Windows 8.1 issue explorer.exe error on shutdown NOT resolved and painfully slow bootup

    Hi,
I have a brand new HP Pavilion Laptop with Windows 8 64bit. I just downloaded the free update to 8.1. And then problems started.
First off, the boot up time has almost doubled. Just before the desktop becomes visible, there is a 10 second period where all you see is a black screen. At times this is more than 10 seconds. Then the desktop wallpaper can be seen.
Secondly, the most annoying problem-, everytime I shutdown or restart , I get an explorer.exe error saying memory cant be read some instruction referenced memory at 0x00000000. ?! What the h-- is this ? I mean is this what we expect to see after updating to
Windows 8.1 ? This is ridiculous. There is no offical response from the developers either. This is affecting many people all over the world and there is not even any official patch or announcement ?
I have read similar posts here and none of the solutions work. Someone says edit the registry, someone says remove the bluetooth service from startup ?! nothing and stopping a bluetooth service should not be considered a solution. Why should I not be able
to use bluetooth just to resolve this Windows 8.1 error ??
Please fix this problem urgently. And DO NOT ask us to re-install windows... I mean come on.. You think people have nothing better to do than installing/reinstalling Windows throughout the day ?? Bandwidth does not come cheap everywhere in the world either.
Please release a patch or some guidelines on fixing this problem ASAP.

Hi, I have checked with that link on HP's site and for my product number it said that my laptop has been tested-Update your System from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1
HP has tested your Windows 8 PC with Windows 8.1 and has created update instructions.
This is what they say. And I clicked on the Windows Store Icon >> Then I clicked on the Upgrade to Windows 8.1 Tile >> Then I clicked Download Windows 8.1 Update ( over 3 GB ) waited for a couple of days >> Then clicked next a bunch of
times >> Selected some options that it asked me >> Then waited some more >> some more waiting >> and in 2 weeks I had upgraded to Windows 8.1 >> Then the above PROBLEMS started...
So, as a request to the tech team or dev team, pls fix this issue.

  • Windows Server 2008 Standard 32-bit gives Rundll32.exe error and blank screen on bootup

Last week our file server installed automatic updates and then requested a reboot.  After rebooting it repeatedly gave a blue screen and rebooted.  After 5 hours on the phone with Microsoft support we all gave up on it with no solution.  Later
we were able to get the machine to boot using an old mirrored hard drive of the system drive.  We can now access our data drive, however after login we get this error:
Rundll32.exe : Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the
    item.
and the console just shows a blank screen.  We are not able to do anything on the server.  I can Ctrl-Alt-Del and bring up Task
Manager and I see that SQL Server is not running, so not all services are running normally.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Based on my research, this issue occurs because the Rundll32.exe file is corrupted. You need to extract a new copy of Rundll32.exe in C:\Windows\System32.
To do this, you can either copy it from another same version of Windows or perform an In-Place Upgrade.
How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade on Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows
    Server 2008 & Windows Server 2008 R2

  • Hp pavilion dv6 6180 help me for this error when I am using my recovery disk

hp pavilion dv6 6180 help me for this error when I am using my recovery disk
The destination drive is not connected

Hello Mohammadshamlou.  I understand that you're having some issues using your Recovery Disc.  It is giving you the error that the drive is not connected.  Is this correct?  How long have you had the notebook?
What issue originally led you to want to try a recovery?
The error seems to imply that it is not detecting the hard drive as this would be the most logical destination drive.  So, I feel the best thing to try first is verify that the hard drive is in proper working order.  Follow these steps and please post the result.
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

  • I can not resolve a plugin-container.exe error while processing payroll through ADP &have been unable to find the right fix for this. I can send error report.

I have been receiving this error now for a few weeks and have been through multiple layers of IT help trying to resolve it with ADP/Chase Payroll services. When I go to print pay vouchers I get the plugin-container.exe error and I can not print the vouchers. I can provide screen shots if this would help. Can you please advise on how to proceed to resolve this?

This is an issue with that plugin crashing, which isn't something we can really resolve for you. Try to disable it, find a replacement, update it, or contact their support

  • AppleMoblieDeviceHelper.exe - error while setting up the environment...

I am having problems with iTunes 8.2.1.6 on my Vista PC. I am getting the following two errors whenver I try to sync my iphone 3Gs:
    (1) 16bit MSDOS subsystem: c:\program files\common files\apple\mobile device support\bin\applemobiledevicehelper.exe - Error while setting up environment for the application. Choose 'close' to terminate the application. This error message continues to show up even when I hit 'close'.
    (2) iTunes was unable to load dataclass information from Sync Services. Reconnect or try later.
I have tried running both iTunes and applemobiledevicehelper.exe in administrator mode and that does not help. I have also tried reinstalling iTunes.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Sahil,
To address your scenario, while creating the configuration, select all the required agreements to create one configuration and then deploy.
Alternatively, you can also apply the latest patch MLR (10.1.2.3)

  • Getting NTVDM.EXE errors in itunes - keeps crashing

Every time I start itunes I get a "16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem" error. Message reads...
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntvdm.exe
Error while setting up environment for the application. Choose 'close' to terminate the application
I then have the option to close or ignore it. If I ignore it I can still access the app store and stuff but when I go to sync my iphone itunes locks up and I have to go to task manager to end the program. What do I do? (this started with the latest itunes update... now I can't even update my iphone because it goes into a permanent backup loop (I have had to kill it after 12 hours a few times!)HELP!!!

I don't have an answer for this, but from first principles here are some things to try.
Since the problem occurs when you plug in your iPad there may be a problem with Apple mobile device support.
Try removing iTunes and related programs using this method:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    Then reinstall.
In case there really is a problem with ntvdm.exe, try running the system file checker:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833
And finally, in case other software is interfering with it try using MSConfig to check for conflicts.:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2292?viewlocale=en_US

  • Consistently does not open, gives the error: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla\firefox.exe Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may no

Installed FF 16, 17, 18. Will not open in normal administrator login, nor with "Run as administrator" but will in W7 safe mode. Changed permissions (had to do it in W7 Safe Mode, normal login would not allow (logged in as an administrator) could not delete the Mozilla files in normal login. On rare occasions, with a new install, I could get it to open once, then not again. Searched the reg for any mention of Mozilla or FF and cleaned it. Tried FF safe mode, no luck. Checked permissions after taking ownership and propagating full ownership rights to all FF files, many reboots, no luck. Chrome, IE and SeaMonkey work fine. Using a fairly new install of W7 Professional 64 bit, on a Dell Optiplex 990 i7, 16GB ram. Had the same problem with another user on an identical box. No problem on other computers No other program problems.

I should have been a bit more definitive.
I have uninstalled FF, with the windows uninstaller, by manually cleaning the files and the registry of any mention of FF or Mozilla, and by running Revo uninstaller - always rebooting and checking to see if the files are indeed gone. (I have set windows file preferences to see all files, including system files.) I have run 4 AV/malware scanners and found nothing but a few tracking cookies. I download, from Mozilla.org, (http://download.cdn.mozilla.net/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/18.0/win32/en-US/Firefox%20Setup%2018.0.exe) a fresh copy of the Firefox Setup 18.0.exe each time and install when logged in as an administrator and choose "Run as Administrator". I get the same result each time I try to open Firefox. Consistently does not open, gives the error: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla\firefox.exe Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." This happens even when I run the .exe file from the x86 program directory. I have also attempted to run in XPsp3 compatibility mode to no avail,
    I make the following assumptions:
    The system is not infected
    I am doing clean installs
There is no existing trace of FF on the system
I get identical results on one other W7 64 bit Optiplex 990 system with an i7 processor and 16 GB or ram.
I CAN run in windows safe mode with networking.
I have no other software or hardware issues.

  • Adobearm.exe error Checking for updates

I'm getting this error when Adobe Reader 10.1.1 checks for updates.  Since it checks automatically this pops up on it's own when you view a PDF.  It will also do it if you check for updates using the help menu.  Running Windows 7 Enterprise x64.  It's also happening on at least one other computer in our organization.  I've searched all over, but I'm not finding much on it.  I've even gone so far as to run procmon to see if I can see where it's trying to read that it's getting an access denied, but that didn't return anything helpful.  Any help is appreciated.

    1.  adobearm.exe does exist in the location the error states.  Interesting it shows an older date on it.  Not sure it's getting uninstalled with reader each time.  maybe I should delete the arm folder manually when I uninstall and try to reinstall?
    2. it has a valid digital signature from Adobe.
    3. 1.5.5.0
    4. I am admin, but UAC is on.  I had also tried running reader as admin, but it made no difference.
    5. Doesn't matter if you open stand alone pdf or in browser.  You will get the error either way.  Without the help menu in the browser I can't manually check for updates, but it appears to check automatically because it will error on it's own when viewing an online pdf.
    6. Yes double-clicking on a file you get the error.  It's not immediate though.  There is a delay before it automatically checks for updates it looks like.  Once it does you get the error.  I assume it's the checking for updates automatically that causes this anyway since it's the same error when I manually check for updates.  I supposed it could be a different problem that produces the same error.
    7. originally I installed it via the enterprise download package.  I customize the installer using "Adobe Customization Wizard X".  When I discovered the problem I rebuilt the package and reinstalled.  Didn't help.  I then reinstalled using the default Enterprise package with no customization.  Didn't help.  I then installed off the website.  Didn't help.

  • InitCVIRTE generates error message "Unhandled exception in "MyApp.exe": 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000."

    Hi,
I have converted a LabWindows CVI project to Visual Studio 2005. When I start the application i debug mode I get the message "Unhandled exception at 0x685662ba in EE352-500V.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000."
It comes when the application calls:  InitCVIRTE in this context:
int __stdcall WinMain (HINSTANCE hInstance, HINSTANCE hPrevInstance, LPSTR lpszCmdLine, int nCmdShow)
    // Initialize LabWindows/CVI run-time library
    if (InitCVIRTE (hInstance, 0, 0) == 0)
    return -1; /* out of memory */
    The debugger indicates that value of hInstance is 0x00400000 {unused=9460301}
Can someone give me a solution to this problem. I have done some search on the Web without success.
    Thanks!

I think that exception might be coming from the data execution prevention service that is part of Win XP SP2.  The OS thinks that you're somehow trying to execute in the data segment and kills the process.  It's intended to catch worms and viruses.
You can turn this service off for non-Microsoft programs using the control panel.
Many pointer handling errors now report as this exception instead of as a memory violation exception.  That looks like a null pointer derefence to me.
